The cheese ravioli were delicious. Cooked up well and none broke apart. I will definitely return for more

A beautiful family owned pasta shop in the heart of West Hartfords bustling restaurant lane. I picked up a box of their fresh spaghetti, and spring ravioli; Lemon Ricotta Ravioli and Spinach Ricotta Ravioli. I was greeted by Ana, the owner and we chatted about her new location opening up in Glastonbury, CT. If you love fresh homemade Italian pasta and or have never enjoyed this specialty before-- give it a try!

"So we're definitely going to become long time customers there, right?" Right. I've known about More since they opened because some of my Food Blogger friends did content for them when they first opened. I first experienced More's pasta at a pasta collaboration dinner with Fork and Fire. I enjoyed the More Pasta used in that dinner, but I'm not factoring it into this review. I researched More after that dinner and noticed how much area chefs seemed to respect More. My family visited More's WH Center shop on New Year's Eve and purchased the ravioli and Jarred Sage Butter mentioned above. The store is attractive and the pasta is displayed to highlight its appeal. The owner is friendly and knowledgeable. I have never been to a Fresh Pasta Shop that has inspired more confidence in their pasta. The owner told me the ravioli would be done when it started floating, and she correctly predicted that would be about 3 minutes. She recommended the jarred Sage Butter, which I've never even seen in area Fresh Pasta Shops. She confirmed my guess that the best way to use the butter is to mix the melted butter with pasta water. The ravioli tasted great and the texture was perfect. The sauce was tasty and a terrific partner for the ravioli. More Italian Pasta Lab has three new big fans. 5 Stars

We'd had some similar vittles in a fancy New York restaurant, and the tab here was one tenth what we spent there. For my money, the food was just as good. Of course, the place in the city had a much different atmosphere and level of service, and if that's what you want then you expect to pay for it. At New England Pasta Company, you pay for the food. They get a lot of their stuff from local sources. My wife had the quiche of the day, and it was the first time in years that I'd tasted a real quiche, not those rubbery things that other places dish up. I had the pasta of the day, which was ricotta stuffed ravioli in an Alfredo sauce. It was fantastic. I saw other people eating sandwiches and salads. Everything looked delicious and generous. My beverage was watermelon limeade. It was very refreshing and not too sweet. For dessert, we had something called a ganache bar or something like that. Think of a slab of fudge with a graham cracker crust. It was very hard work finishing it, but I wasn't going to leave any behind. We took home a lasagna with meatballs and sausage. It was very good, as was the coconut wonder bar we pounded down on top of it. I'm not sure we'd drive there just for food, but if we're ever in the neighborhood we'll certain snag something to bring home. By the way, don't confuse this with Truffles, which is in the back. They are completely separate.

My favorite purchases were the fresh cut egg linguine and the Ritz-based stuffed cod. The fresh linguine cooks in a minute and the texture just hits different in the best possible way. The cod was nice and firm and the Ritz stuffing was crazy delicious. I also liked the Chicken Francaise. You can't really compare it to restaurant quality Francaise because it's specifically made to be re-heated and eaten later. With this in mind, I though that the small chicken pieces and lemon sauce were very solid. My other purchases included clam chowder and Tuna Mac Salad with peas. The Tuna Mac was pretty good. It wouldn't be in regular rotation for me, but I'd get it once in a while. The clam chowder was my least favorite, but I respect that New England Pasta seemed to go for something different. The texture was good and it had plenty of clams and potato. But it tasted like it had a little blue cheese flavor. I can't say for sure that they used blue cheese, but the chowder definitely had something different that gave it this vibe. For me, this flavor was a bit too assertive. I don't live near New England Pasta, but if I did, I would visit once in a while. Four Stars

Happened to go on national grilled cheese day so they had a $5 special as well as the food truck out front which you can catch at various places. Service was quick and friendly and they even have a nice selection of cheeses you can sample and purchase on the side of the register. They have some outdoor tables outside because what's better than a grilled cheese on a sunny day. Can't wait to go back!
