First time coming here. The best cannoli I have ever had. The shell was flakey and the filling (which is filled when you order it) was so creamy and delicious. As if that wasn't enough, the Italian Ice is another story. I had the strawberry it tasted as if i was eating strawberries!!!! Greeted immediately when I came in and she had good recommendations for what to buy to get myself to the credit card minimum. I was in and out in under three minutes. The food here is INCREDIBLE. Best Cannolis in the area and probably the entire state yes that includes the famous places like Del Prete. The prices are more than reasonable for the amazing food that they make. Warm feeling from the owner who is very friendly and sweet. The Cannolis are to die for. They fill their Cannolis when you order them so they're always fresh. The shells are thin, airy and crisp and break clean when you bite into them. The filling is sweet, yet not over powering and the perfect whipped consistency. Eating canollis from Marianna's is like biting into a cloud its light and airy not dense and filling, which makes you feel good and not guilty about eating a few of them haha. For me, its 100% worth the 40 minute drive, especially for a holiday treat for my family. read more

So I'm in Meriden for a 24-hour pinball tournament in what appears to be an abandoned building and it's the love of my life's birthday (I know, I know, but that's all true). I wanted to do something nice and surprise him with a huge cake even though he absolutely hates surprises and birthdays in general. The first place I called refused to even take an order over the phone, but Marianna went above and beyond. She went from being a baker to being a great co-conspirator in making this happen! I ordered a large marble sheet cake over the phone a few days before. The price was prettt reasonable for how big this thing was. The day of, Marianna was basically on call with the cake delivery to ensure I could sneak it into the building covertly. And she even stopped at the dollar store for plates, forks, and candles since I couldn't get ahold of that stuff without ruining the surprise. The cake was beautiful AND delicious! The tournament had about 100 competitors - some of the best pinball players in the world - and they all raved about it! read more

On July 4th I took care of a group of people at the bar on the main floor of Tootsies Orchid Lounge in downtown Nashville. They were sweet and easy, enjoying the music and ordering drinks here and there throughout the night. Toward the end of our closing band's set, one of the people in the group gifted me with a box of Italian cookies from Marianna's, his family's bakery. I was so surprised and delighted by this unexpected gesture. In a world that's very busy and super crowded, these sweet people went out of their way to thank me in the most thoughtful way I can imagine. If I lived in Connecticut, I'd be a regular customer for sure. And not just because the family behind the bakery is so lovely. I shared Marianna's assorted cookies with staff throughout the bar and they were fantastic! I adore almond cookies and their marzipan-filled almond cookies are IT. Delicious pastries in a cute lil' shop, If you're in the area, I think you should stop. The selection had me drooling, I needed a mop, The sugar fired me up, and I did the bunny hop. Stopped in Sunday morning after church. I am a doughnut/donut connoisseur and wanted to see what Meriden had to offer. Was greeted promptly upon entering, but was given a bit of an attitude. I asked about the different flavors of doughnuts and was treated like I was an inconvenience. Maybe it was an off-day, and I'll try again after mass next week. For doughnuts they had your standard flavors: old-fashioned, fruit-filled, and bavarian cream-filled. I got a Boston cream, and it was good. Fluffy dough, loaded up with cream filling, and a touch of chocolate on top. Definitely a step above Dunkin' given its size and extra filling. There was also a wide selection of cakes, cookies, cannolis, and muffins. My doughnut came to 85 cents out the door. Good price, and good way to start the day. read more

I figured that the quality of the pastries would make up for the fact that the owner is disgustingly rude and snarky but uhhh no. Growing up in Meriden, one of my favorite things was going to Marianna's to get the delicious chocolate-covered cannolis! Mmm the cannolis are filled to order and so fresh and delicious!! Not only do they have the large cannolis for ~$3, they also have mini chocolate cannolis that are ~$18/dozen(perfect for bringing to parties)! Aside from the cannolis, they have a wide array of different italian treats-- cookies, lobster tails, bread, and tons more!! Yummmmmm. A friend brought me here saying that the cookies were perfect and fresh. I love a good italian cookie. I got a box full at about 10.50. They had my favorites along with a few i had never had before. Got home and tried to not eat the entire box in one sitting. The cookies were so good. I wish i had more. It will have to wait until I'm back in meriden. So yea, cookies are a total thumbs up. The location and building are good. We parked around the corner. The lady greeted us as we entered. She seemed genuinely pleased to see us. I had questions about the cookies and she was great and answered each one. We chatted a bit with her and another man that was behind the counter. My husband went to buy bread and they lady at the counter told him it was almost ready... 5 minutes. He decided to wait and next thing you know she's taking care of other customers first and left him waiting! This is not our first rodeo with her, I went in on an afternoon to buy a cake for my grandson, something simple and I asked the lady what were the prices on the cakes being my first time as a customer. She came out very rude and snarky, well there's different prices! I get it but I wanted to know price and sizes, again, first time being there. I guess she noticed that I was surprised and then told me, I ended up ordering a cake and to our surprise when we cut the cake not even the kids ate it!! I'm so glad there is still a small hometown bakery in Meriden! I ordered a cannoli cake for my husbands birthday yesterday. She told me it would serve six but my family of six each had a piece with leftovers. It was beyond delicious and it cost the same as what I would pay at a grocery store for a similar size cake.
