My mom and i went here for the first time this morning. I did see there reviews and pictures and the pictures got my attention. The portions are great, waffle are exactly as I had seen on here. A pal brought me here while I was visiting. Very unassuming building. Parking lot was full, a good sign. The inside decor is what you would imagine an old diner to look like. Friendly, jovial service full of jokes ("More Tequila?"as they pour coffee, etc). Huge servings, delicious food. The pancakes were fluffy and chewy, and extremely filling. Super fast service. Food got to me in about five minutes, and everything was perfectly cooked. Homey, vintage atmosphere. It's got that "Midwestern hometown diner decorated with Grandpa and Grandma's 1930's-60's memorabilia". Great little place. Despite the building having been here for a long while ( the architecture gives away it's age), it is looks and smells clean and very well kept. By far the most disgusting tasting breakfast I've experienced ever. I ordered biscuits and gravy with potatoes and 2 overeasy eggs. Everything and I mean everything tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill using cooking oil that was past its prime days ago. Wow. Went here with my boyfriend for breakfast and it was perfect! We ate outside in their makeshift dining room, although the inside was super cool. Our server, frankly all the servers we interacted with were sooo nice, and the food was just what we needed. We got the veggie quesadilla to share with the curly fries and the home fries too. The spicy salsa was so good we took some home with our leftovers (the portions were huuuge!). And their coffee? So freakin good. This is one of my go to places to grab breakfast, at least when I don't want to drive too far. The service is always very prompt and courteous. I got my omelette no more than 5 minutes after I placed my order, which is kind of mind blowing. The food is pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best around, but it's consistent. The portions are decent as well. The most important thing here is the decor, it's pretty awesome. Wow. This was a welcomed surprise. Plenty of parking and a quaint little spot. The service was courteous and quick. These folks could surely train others in the industry. The decor here is part of the attraction, and the food is delicious. The service is fast and the staff is courteous. The owner, Steve, is a good guy who always greets you with a smile. My colleagues and I eat here on a semi regular to regular basis. We have been for years. I will continue to visit the 'row for years to come, and I send my clients there if they will be in the area, or are headed in that direction. I always tell people good things and personally recommend for them to visit the establishment, because I know how good it is and want to encourage as many people as I can to become regulars, because one visit is all it takes. As I roll into the parking lot, I am greeted with 4 women and 2 teeth. Is this place Calypso's? No, but it's darn close (to the Landing, that is). Those gals - yep - from the Landing, which is a BAR. It was 10:30 a.m. I was dying for some breakfast after a night of drinks and drunks, courtesy of the Class of 2000 reunion! "Waitress", I say. "I just need breakfast. I trust you. Please don't disappoint." So she delivered a dish to me. I swear Antique Row has never encountered a problem that they couldn't solve with cheese! Bland home fries? Throw some cheese it. Oily omelet? Throw some cheese on it. I should have punched the waitress in the face, but Omelet this go! Don't you roll your eyes at me! Come on! What do you think cheese is? 'Tussin? Next time my legs hurt, I'm just gonna rub some cheese on it. Even Chris Rock won't make fun of the food at this place. It's just that bad! Also, the coffee was disgusting. This crap tasted like it was made from reused grinds. I haven't tasted coffee this cheap since I was in college! People go to breakfast joints for decent coffee and decent breakfast. Found another jewel in the rough! The neighborhood is a little sketchy but, the food and service is excellent. The food (breakfast) came out so fast we barely had time to blink. I had a Denver Omelette and it was large and cooked perfectly with country fries again perfect. My wife had scrambled eggs with potato cakes and both were also excellent. We are definitely going back, would like to try lunch next and can't wait to try Eggs Benedict. It is easy to find and has dedicated parking. Amazing little Gem in El Cajon! Home Made, fresh to order, wonderful friendly service, and delicious!! This place is ALWAYS packed (for a good reason) but they always seat you and serve you at a very reasonable time. Our food and drinks are always out almost immediately which shocks us based on how busy they are. This is a regular place for our family! We don't eat out for breakfast too much anymore, but Antique Row is where we do eat breakfast if we're going to. Most of the time we come here because one of our cars is getting the oil changed down the block. We've never had trouble getting a table on a Saturday or Sunday morning around 10-11 a.m. and the service is always awesome. I really like their coffee because I think diner coffee is awesome and their potato cake thing is so good. I did have one that was a miss, but since then I've really enjoyed every potato cake they've put on my plate. I think they serve beef chorizo, so maybe don't get that because ew. They have really interesting specials, so make sure to check out their boards when you go in. read more
