A pal brought me here while I was visiting. Very unassuming building. Parking lot was full, a good sign. The inside decor is what you would imagine an old diner to look like. The staff, super friendly. Talked to you like they knew you. The right amount of attentive. Seems like they have been working there for awhile, and have a lot of regulars. Portion sizes are big. Food got to me in about five minutes, and everything was perfectly cooked. Homey, vintage atmosphere. It's got that "Midwestern hometown diner decorated with Grandpa and Grandma's 1930's-60's memorabilia". Great little place. By far the most disgusting tasting breakfast I've experienced ever. I ordered biscuits and gravy with potatoes and 2 overeasy eggs. Everything and I mean everything tasted like it was cooked on a dirty grill using cooking oil that was past its prime days ago. Wow. I called ahead to let them know I'd like a table near the door to accommodate my father in law as he has trouble walking and gets winded easily due to his stage 4 lung cancer. Went here with my boyfriend for breakfast and it was perfect! We ate outside in their makeshift dining room, although the inside was super cool. Our server, frankly all the servers we interacted with were sooo nice, and the food was just what we needed. We got the veggie quesadilla to share with the curly fries and the home fries too. The spicy salsa was so good we took some home with our leftovers (the portions were huuuge!). And their coffee? So freakin good. This is one of my go to places to grab breakfast, at least when I don't want to drive too far. The service is always very prompt and courteous. I got my omelette no more than 5 minutes after I placed my order, which is kind of mind blowing. The food is pretty good, I wouldn't say it's the best around, but it's consistent. The portions are decent as well. The most important thing here is the decor, it's pretty awesome. Elvis Presley himself greets you when you walk through the door, complete with his guitar and a board with the daily specials on it. The decor here is part of the attraction, and the food is delicious. The service is fast and the staff is courteous. The owner, Steve, is a good guy who always greets you with a smile. My colleagues and I eat here on a semi regular to regular basis. We have been for years. I will continue to visit the 'row for years to come, and I send my clients there if they will be in the area, or are headed in that direction. I always tell people good things and personally recommend for them to visit the establishment, because I know how good it is and want to encourage as many people as I can to become regulars, because one visit is all it takes. This is hands down the best place I have EVER been to. If I had a choice every single day to choose somewhere to go out and eat, I would choose this place. My boyfriend likes very sweet food and I like healthy food. This place fits us perfectly because they have SO MUCH on their menu. The staff is so sweet, they make you feel like family. And the best thing of all is they are quick!! They have your food out to you in about 10 minutes! Sometimes even less depending on how busy they are! They make their food with care. When I eat here it makes me feel like I am at my grandparents house having the best homemade biscuits and gravy (for example) OF MY LIFE. This place seems hidden and not too many people know about it. It deserves a whole building to itself!! I wish they had more restaurants around San Diego!! read more

As I roll into the parking lot, I am greeted with 4 women and 2 teeth. Is this place Calypso's? No, but it's darn close (to the Landing, that is). Those gals - yep - from the Landing, which is a BAR. It was 10:30 a.m. I was dying for some breakfast after a night of drinks and drunks, courtesy of the Class of 2000 reunion! "Waitress", I say. "I just need breakfast. I trust you. Please don't disappoint." So she delivered a dish to me. I swear Antique Row has never encountered a problem that they couldn't solve with cheese! Bland home fries? Throw some cheese it. Oily omelet? Throw some cheese on it. I should have punched the waitress in the face, but Omelet this go! Don't you roll your eyes at me! Come on! What do you think cheese is? 'Tussin? Next time my legs hurt, I'm just gonna rub some cheese on it. Even Chris Rock won't make fun of the food at this place. It's just that bad! Also, the coffee was disgusting. This crap tasted like it was made from reused grinds. I haven't tasted coffee this cheap since I was in college! People go to breakfast joints for decent coffee and decent breakfast. I had a Denver Omelette and it was large and cooked perfectly with country fries again perfect. My wife had scrambled eggs with potato cakes and both were also excellent. If you want to go back in time, here is the spot. Oh, also they have great American diner food, too ;) When you step inside Antique Row Cafe, you're instantly transported back in time. It's completely decorated from head to toe with throwback memorabilia. It was packed on a Wednesday morning so our waitress took a little bit to come over. Regardless of that, the food was outstanding. My meal was simple: two eggs sunny-side up, bacon, two slices of french toast and sourdough bread. When I tell you that their french toast tastes like how your mother would make it, I am not lying to you! It's so fluffy and perfectly cooked. Their bacon was the right amount of crisp and not greasy at all and the sourdough bread was great, too. Our waitress was also very friendly and super sweet.
