Since my last review of Petersunn's Antiques back in 2012, I've stopped in to see Terry many times…read more I've pretty much concentrated on his extensive knife collection, have purchased a number of them, have always felt welcome and that he really knows his stuff. We're also both from Northwest Iowa and both have family in Genoa. What I don't understand is 6 (at this writing) negative reviews complaining about rudeness. If what they mean is plain spoken, occasionally blunt, and sometimes doesn't suffer fools (or unsupervised kids), I consider that a plus.

More business, that's what we thought he would want. Not sure about all the laws but I don't know he does either. A Pawn shop is on a TV show, young people always taking selfies in casinos, and pictures of his collections are on his website.

I saw toys from my childhood, and dishes...pretty much all kinds of things too many to mention. The ladies working here were excellent, and have to give them kudos for being so helpful.

I walked through it all, most I assume to be a hefty collection of rented "booths" and maybe some consignment. I'll need to come back again, as each antique store visit is just one layer of the onion. The antique wares were well organized throughout, although with differences in display density. There was a pleasant atmosphere in the store, both from staff and all the curious folks like me taking it all in. The husband of a friend used to be an antique dealer and he often talked about collection cycles and people age out and their treasures move on. I thought of that as I perused and sometimes admired an impressive collection of "stuff" that were previously special to their previous owners, and would someday be again.

When I walked inside I was drawn to the charming little gifts. They have some cute jewelry, home décor, apparel and hand crafted souvenirs. I saw a section of Native American jewelry with different pretty color stones. Of course, the first thing I look for are stickers and I did find them in both small and big sizes. Looking around some more I found a few handmade soaps made locally in Genoa and a shelf filled with classic soaps made in France. This is a nice little shop located off of the main drag in Carson City. The shop has a good selection of what appear to be quality pieces including china, lamps, pictures and other odds and ends and unique items. What struck me is that it seems like the owner take some pride in the selection and is not just peddling and old junk like you find in some of the Reno shops. The lady working the counter (who I assume is the owner) was very helpful. The shop is not cluttered at all and everything is displayed well.
