    Perch tacos
    Kat B.

Our experience here was a mixed bag. Five people for lunch. We found a table right away. The bartender/server seemed harried. But we got our order in. She recommended perch tacos, burgers or Mexican food. Food must have been cooked sequentially or something because half of it was cold. Burger was super disappointing. Grilled cheese was tasty, but small. Tomato bisque forgettable. Carnitas tacos bland without big seasoned flavor in the meat. Although it was tender. Asparagus bites were mostly breaded. Loved the homemade ranch, very sour cream forward. Perch tacos were good. Portobello fries had great flavor but were one of the things that could have been served warmer. Kind of dark in there with lots of high tops and a few low top tables. I can imagine it getting pretty loud at night.

Mmmmm.... Did you hear that? That's the sound one makes in her teeny RV after the first bite of Mac n' Cheese with the AMAIZING (watching the Mich vs MSU game from the campground --Go Blue!), smokey, mouth-watering beef brisket on top. It's seriously a perfect camp comfort food on a cold night that travels well. We couldn't locate firewood for sale (late October), so I insisted on a hot meal. I had the "burden" of popping into the Antler Bar to order while my husband hung back in the RV with our overly-needy-spoiled-rotten dog. Food was going to take about 1/2 hour, so --darn--I had to order a beer and sit and watch Michigan score points (okay, I know, it's not their strongest season, but I have faith). Anyway, service was friendly, and the food was terrific! Happy place and was packed on game night. I'll be back. Maybe our dog will learn to tolerate the RV alone, and WE'LL be back. The Perch Tacos were also a great starter! It all looked good. Thank you, Antler Bar!

The restaurant is located in a business/eatery main Street environment. The restaurant does not open until noon and The Lyons were playing at 1:00pm so we wanted to grab a burger and a beer to watch the game. There is street parking available but also many large shared parking lots near you can park and walk safely. The business was accessible without steps. Signage posted to seat yourself so we found a small table near the stairs. Lots of options; high tops, regular tables and bar seating. The overall experience was good. We were greeted promptly. Cold drinks poured quickly and our order was taken directly after. The appetizer did come out first but the meal was shortly after. No worries though we were hungry and everything was hot. The staff was super friendly and helpful answering all my questions. I really enjoy that they have a Touch Tunes machine for music selection. We didn't use it this trip because of the game but I will keep it in mind for next time.

Fast and friendly servers. The deep fried asparagus was the best! The taco special is what we chose. Very fresh and delicious!

During the off season this is the best place to get dinner. The staff are nice and efficient.

We spent a…read morelong weekend in the Manistee area and got a recommendation to eat at The Glenwood which was just a short drive north from where we were. I called for reservations the day before and found that only very early or very late was available. We also were given an option of seating in the restaurant or on the porch. We chose the porch and early reservation. We were seated at a nice table with a view of Portage Lake. We started with wine, (even though we bought copious amounts of wine on our trip, the wine list couldn't be ignored) my wife enjoying a glass of Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc and me a glass of cab. It was recommended we try their Almond Battered Shrimp. This appetizer was served with a cherry mustard sauce that was wonderful. The menu said jumbo shrimp and yes, they were jumbo with that nice "steak like" texture and flavor. For dinner my wife ordered the Whitefish special (Whitefish is on the regular menu but the special preparation was a bit different). This presentation had wilted spinach, onions with a light Parmesan crust. She let me try some and we both agreed this was the best whitefish either of have ever had. I ordered the "Everything Tuna". This was yellowfin tuna with light and dark sesame seeds, poppy seeds. onion, garlic and salt. I ordered it extremely rare (so rare a good vet could resuscitate it) with wasabi. This was a taste sensation. Dinners included broccoli and an excellent salad. The dressing was so good we bought a bottle on the way out. A "loaf" containing four rolls was also included. Our server was Cyrillia and her service was as outstanding as it gets. Often when I'm enjoying service of this calibre, I look around and see if we just got lucky or is everyone getting great service. It seemed that the service standard at The Glenwood is high. On the drive back to our hotel, we tried to come up with restaurants we've enjoyed as much. The list is slim with The Glenwood at or near the top.

The smoked whitefish dip looked like it had been sitting under a heat lamp. My entree came with a wedge. The lettuce was turning red, so it was obviously not fresh. There were about two bacon crumbles in the salad and a teaspoon of bleu cheese sprinkled on it. I ordered the halibut. It came out dry and tough, and I could tell by the film on the hollandaise sauce that it had also been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile. They also mixed up our sides. This place charges haute prices but offers mid dishes and service.
