We had about a 4 hour layover at the Frankfurt airport and wanted to try some German food. Anton & Anni to the rescue! I had a 1 liter mug of Beck's beer to start (great photo ops!) and for lunch I had the Original Bayrische Weibwrust mit Brezel which is the infamous white brats simmering in a nice broth and a large pretzel with yummy sweet mustard. My wife had the Brizza Flammkuchen Art which is basically a pizza using pretzel bread and containing sour cream, bacon and onions. Surprisingly tasty. Fairly filling lunch but not too sure this food type is my style. We had just left Rome that morning and had been eating delicious Italian food for over 2 weeks so this German food was quite a change. I realize it's airport food but still, Anton & Anni seems to have some authentic looking offerings. Oh, and they had a robot food cart with a cat face on it running around. They get points for that as it's still a novelty in 2025. We had a friendly server/bartender and the staff were super busy running around a lot. I can think of better places for lunch but this fit the occasion for our layover. read more

Sadly the rudest service of my entire Germany trip happened here as my last interaction in the country. When our flight was delayed a few hours, our airline gave us a voucher that we could use at most of the cafes at the airport. Bring in the Z terminal, this was the closest one where I thought I would get some baked goods and sandwiches for breakfast! The way that I was treated was kind of appalling. I ordered 3 of the sandwiches and a pretzel, and when I asked if I could get the sandwich warmed up (because the other cashier literally asked his customer and warmed up the guys sandwich right in front of me), the cashier responded with a blatant "no." Me: but it looks like you guys do warm up the sandwiches, I just saw him do it?? Cashier: you're using a voucher so no. Me: seriously? Cashier: yes seriously. Me: can I pay for you to warm it up? Cashier suddenly cant understand me.. 2 stars cuz the sandwiches were still surprisingly good for being cold. But making me feel like I am asking for free food when the airline is actually paying them is not cool. read more

I enjoyed the Meatlof Burger and Kaiserschmarrn with some delightful Bavarian music playing overhead. This eatery has an average of 2.5 stars at the time I'm posting this review, and that's about what it deserves. Aside from a McDonald's, this is really the only food option in this section of Frankfurt airport which contains I believe about 15 gates and has several Boeing 747s flying out of it, so lots of people moving through this area. Like other reviewers stated, when I saw the cute traditional-looking German decor and color scheme at Anton & Anni and heard the German music they were playing, I thought I was in for some real German food (I was in Frankfurt airport, after all!). When I sat at the bar and asked the server for a menu, he said "Go look around - We have whatever you see in the glass cases" and disappointingly, it was really just some pre-made cold sandwiches, yogurts and bottled drinks, along with a coffee menu. I had a ham, cheese and horseradish sandwich on pretzel dough bread, a yogurt with fruit chunks and an apple juice. Price came to $21.57, and this place is set up to charge in either Euros or USD. The price was about average for airport fare, considering most charge "supply and demand" prices since you're basically stuck- where else are you going to eat? The bigger disappointment, though, is that this place is set up and decorated to look like a German Biergarten, while the food and drink aren't reflective of that in any way. read more

I stopped here on a short layover in the Frankfurt airport. It was the only food option that was open in this section of the terminal. I got a raclette that was pretty tasty but I felt the price was a little steep. There was only one person working, but so it was very slow. They do have a nice seating area though. read more

Food and beer on tap were great. There was a broad selection and I even grabbed a butter pretzel for the flight. The only issue I had and the reason I'm giving 3 stars instead of 4 is that the beer I received had maybe 5 4 cm of head. I watched several beers poured after mine and they were all proper. 3 stars considering Anton & Anni in the context of airport food, and 2 stars anywhere else. I had a 19hr layover in Frankfurt Airport and decided to make my way to the terminal/gate for my connecting flight a few hours prior to departure; there were so many appealing bars, restaurants, and food stands throughout the airport that I did not expect anything less from Terminal Z. Big mistake! As of Sept 2021, Anton & Anni was the single food establishment open in the terminal (there was a convenience store open, but that was it). I did not want to leave and go through passport, COVID test documentation, proof of vaccination, etc. checks yet again, so ended up eating both breakfast and lunch here. Due to COVID-19, Anton & Anni is takeaway-only and has a limited menu -- a few pre-packaged salads, muffins, and pre-prepared sandwiches. For breakfast, I got a cafe latte and a slice of apple cake. The cake, though incredibly cold, was decent, but I had really wished they had some healthy and/or savory breakfast options like fresh fruit, egg sandwiches, etc. For lunch I had the caprese panini -- again, just OK -- not anything I would voluntarily order outside of an airport setting. Prices were definitely inflated, but not as bad as I was expecting for airport food. In a non-COVID world, I think it could be a nice setting to sit down with a glass of beer & a pretzel. read more

One of the best croissant that I can find. It was flaky, buttery, fluffy. Almost comparable to the croissant at Paillard in Quebec City. Much better than the croissant in US. Wish I could bring a dozen back home. read more

As far as airport foods goes, this is alright. It's a small but well put together menu with all the good stuff. The staff is fast and very friendly with a great attitude. It looks like a run of the mill terminal food stop. If you are in the terminal stop and give it a try and you won't regret it! read more

Only food place inside Z terminal. Eat anywhere else before trying this joint. Both terrible food and service. Ordered a thin style pizza and the waiter said it was unavailable. She directed us to order from only two sausage choices from the menu. An American style hot dog came back with pre-packaged containers of Heintz ketchup and mustard. Two minutes later another guest ordered and was served a pizza. At least the potato salad was decent and the beers were cold. read more
