I was pleasantly surprised by some airport food. We had a 3.5 layover here and since there were no PP lounges nearby we could go to, we decided to do a leisurely sit down lunch. This one and an Italian place were really the only two options in Gate A, but since we were traveling to Italy, it didn't make much sense to eat Italian food a German airport. So we opted for Hausmann's. Hubby had the half a chicken meal, which comes with fries, side salad, and a choice of dipping mayo. Despite the chicken looking super dry, it actually was not (except for the white meat). I had the curry wurst, which I really enjoyed. This comes with fries and some sort of chipotle mayo. I could have done without the globs of tomato sauce and maybe sub that for either curry sauce and more curry powder, or some more mayo. I don't normally like steak fries but these were top notch. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Food came out pretty quickly, so if you only have 45 min or so, you could still probably make it. I think you can either order and pay by yourself via the QR code or with the waitress. I enjoyed a sausage to go here. I chose the Rindwerst. It is pork based but they also have beef sausage as well. I ate it so fast that I did not have time to take a picture, lol. Great place during a layover at Frankfurt International! It's king of tucked away, which means it isn't too terribly loud. There are several tables worth of extra seating, and charging ports, all of which make it very nice. I didn't eat anything here, so can't comment on that. But, the Hefeweizen was incredible! This too shall pass. For quite awhile, I was sure we would miss our flight, but we ended up arriving with enough time for a meal. And it was surprisingly nice for an airport nosh. It turns out this gastropub is co-owned by a celebrity chef in Germany, Tim Maltster, along with Patrick Rüther and Tim Plasse. The team did a great job with the concept, menu and service was really sweet. The overall experience was the equivalent of a warm hug at the end of a long day. Many German meat and potato dishes are on the menu alongside lighter salads. Our group ate at a long elevated wood table in the bar area. There is more traditional seating on the other side of the restaurant. It would definitely be at the top of my list for airport dining, but I think I need a little break from Frankfurt for awhile. A very good German restaurant in the Frankfurt, Germany airport. I had the Double Pig. A fresh bun, filled with Pork Belly, Pork Neck, which would be compared to a pork chop, topped with bacon sauerkraut, and a very tasty onion apple marmalade. We were quite shocked ! The patron ended up left without his food, assumingely he was really pissed or he's gonna miss his flight. Again, I know that I am only traveling through FRA only a few times a year, but my spouse is going through here often. I want to make sure this information is communicated to our fellow yelpers and to other travelers. It's a terrible thing to experience, as if anyone really enjoys the airport food(?). I hope the management would pay more attention to this & make some necessary adjustments. With nowadays options for food, the attitude and services will prevail. The gremolata (herbs) mashed potato tastes very different, in a good way! My friend didn't even realise it was mash Spaetzlepfane 3/3 (11.90€) - South German pasta dish. The ball-like pasta is soft, a cross between mash potato and sphagetti. The fried onions add a great contrasting crunch and charred taste, bringing everything together wonderfully. The wurst itself was pretty good, but the sauerkraut and German potato salad completely lacked flavor. At first glance this seemed like a cool place to eat, they had a fun breakfast menu with fun German sounding American breakfast diner food. We got a seat and orders food but when we asked for regular water, tap water, we got a very rude sounding "we don't have tap water" she offered us a bottle of water, but failed to mention that it would cost 7.5€, which was what most of the meals cost. Honey for tea was also .50 extra, while the other cafes in the area offers the same honey for free The food was ok, but too much extra herbs and spices sprinkled on the plate to look nice but didn't do anything to make the food taste better. It was quite dry actually :(. After we were done we had to wait 45 min for the waitress to bring the bill, even though I was eye-contacting her all the time she kept avoiding out table, and then she hovered around while we were paying like she was double checking our tip!
