Antonacci was highly recommended by friends & my husband is a pizza aficionado. I was told that this is the best pizza in Florida, and they make their sourdough crust which is baked in an imported Italian wood burning oven. I made reservations for an early Sunday dinner, but had to call first to confirm that they are screening the World Cup Finals, which they are. A casual Sunday pizza dinner with sports; the men and happy! The restaurant is in a Publix shopping center on the south side of Hypoluxo Rd. & Congress Ave. There was a large free parking lot in front. We started with the Panella salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, onions, olives, mozzarella, homemade croutons & a balsamic glaze. The 20 pizza selections all looked delicious; it was hard to choose. There is an Americano where we can get a traditional cheese pie and put whatever topping we wanted, but we selected the Lombardia with sweet sausage, mozzarella, parsley, oregano, rosemary & Parmesan. The pastas, Panini's & antipasto looked interesting also. Beer & wine selections were priced well. Our salads were large, well seasoned, and full of interesting flavors. We all brought boxes home with leftover pizza, the sourdough crust was crispy and delicious. The restaurant was immaculate. It was nicely decorated. There was a large television mounted in a frame on the wall with the World Cup, and then travel photographs of Italy. Service was professional & on point. We had a wonderful lunch here! Luckily they were not that busy, but each pie is cooked to order on the wood fired grill so plan accordingly. We did ask for our pizza to be well done, too. The pizzas use sour dough and there are quite a few choices. They represent the 20 areas of Italy, but you can also customize a build your own. We chose the pizza from the Lombardi region (near the very top of Italy's boot). It had sweet fennel sausage along with mozzarella cheese and spices. We got a medium (their smallest) and it was perfect to share. We even brought two slices home. For dessert, we shared the sfogliatella. This horn shaped dessert was served warm from the oven. Its light flaky layers were filled with a bit of lemony ricotta. Not overly sweet, it was a nice ending. There were two to the order. We understand they are quite popular at dinner and on weekend nights, so you might want to come for lunch first -- as we did. I definitely want to return to try some of the other pizza varieties. Very yummy sourdough pizza!!!! Ingredients and flavor work super good together and my belly is happy. Really loved both the pizzas we tried Emilia and Pimiante. Will return to try more! The sourdough crust is absolutely perfect and wouldn't want any other pizza now. The place is decorated tastefully with hints of gold and vintage rustiness that gives an Italian air. I wanted to try their appetizers but couldn't do to understaffed and busy. We did wait quite a bit but they were super nice about it. We went Thursday night, I saw someone on Facebook had photos and it looked great. So off we went, and IT WAS SO GREAT, the flavors were so good, We had the app's meatballs so tasty and served in a cup and then we got the bread which was different then anything we have had at an Italian place, these were I think sourdough that were shaped in logs not rolls doused in olive oil and garlic . Really interesting. WE we newbies so we stuck with the American pizza we had 1/2 pepperoni and 1/2 mushroom and let me say there were so many mushrooms that it was heavy to pick up and and I feel like the mushrooms were seasoned with something it was great. Went to Antonacci's for dinner 2 nights ago as it was highly recommended by someone in our Community FB. It's the best gourmet pizza we have had. Fresh ingredients and perfect crust, and amazing combinations of flavors. Tucked in between Duffy's and Pet Supermarket in the Publix Plaza at the SE corner of Hypoluxo and Congress! Hubby had the Lombardia - the fennel sausage was so good! Definitely a keeper. I had the Piemonte - loved the ham and the hot honey and fig jam. It was savory but sweet as well. Disappointing and illogical experience. This place proudly advertises that they make their dough fresh, which is usually a great thing. Unfortunately, that claim didn't align with reality today. When I went to order, the hostess informed me they were "out of large pizzas" but still had mediums available. If you're making dough fresh, running out of a size makes absolutely no sense. A large pizza isn't a different product -- it's just more dough. I didn't even bother trying to explain the obvious. Instead, I took my business elsewhere.
