Windy City Pizza is one of my favorite pizza places in South Florida. I live in Fort Lauderdale and make the 25 mile drive one way just to have the Midwest Pizza that I Iove. Just think how many New York pizza joints I pass to get the Windy City Pizza which is great every time. The drive is well worth it. I just love the edge to edge tavern style pizza cut in squares just the way I grew up eating. Well, I guess you can tell I'm not from Chicago. I thought this was going to be a deep dish experience. Glancing too quickly at the photos might lead you to believe that as well. No, this is thin pizza served in a unique dish that allows the baking of the crust to be perfect. The Windy City Sausage - Loaded with cheese & sausage; a Chicago favorite! - was amazing. I just wish I did not live so far away! Service is quick and simple as the place is not that large. We were tired after a long day at the beach and playing tennis and going to the Delray Beach Open so wanted to order in pizza and watch a movie. Windy City Pizza had high ratings on Yelp and was just a few blocks away. We ordered a pizza with sausage and mushrooms and a chicken caesar salad. The pizza arrived with pepperoni as well, which was a bonus for me, but not as enjoyable for one of my friends who does not prefer pepperoni. The crust was definitely thin as it was advertised. The chicken caesar was a pretty standard one, although interesting that the chicken came on the side in a separate to go styrofoam (boo styrofoam) container. Overall a solid choice. read more

Windy City Pizza has been serving up Chicago delicacies to the Delray Bech community for some 25 years. The family is lovely and service is wonderful. While a New York Slice will always hold a special place in my heart, I genuinely like most varieties of pizza. But that is not to say that all pizza is 'good'. Happy to say that Windy City makes an incredible Chicago thin-crust. My go-to is the Windy City Sausage, and they certainly do not skimp out on the sausage! You cannot purchase pizza by the slice here, but I dare you to order a thin crust and not finish it (okay, you may need another person, but it is totally doable). I would be remiss not to mention their Italian Beef sandwich. I hadn't had one of these in years, and this reminded me why I really want to get back to Chicago one of these days. I was raised in the Windy City and enjoyed the delicious pizza there for 27 glorious years. I can absolutely put my stamp on this place. The best pizza spot I've found on this side of FL. Hands down. I ordered ham and pineapple pizza (Hawaiian pizza with Valentina or Tapatio hot sauce never disappoints) and I was preparing for average pizza. When I saw they cut the pizza in squares I started to believe that maybe this place is the real deal. After trying it, there's no doubt. This is Chicago-style neighborhood pizza. They knocked this one out of the park. The spot is also conveniently located a few minutes off of the expressway. Inside the spot had a good vibe. The ladies provided fast service. I paid in advance (they accept Apple Pay) and was in and out in a minute. They didn't have the drink I was looking for (Mexican Coca Cola) but had other choices. Being a Chicago native I have been looking for the perfect pizza in South Florida, and this is it. This is the true authentic and "real" pizza of Chicago and I implore everyone to try it because there is nothing better out here. Everyone from Chicago knows that the Chicago tavern style is the real deal and to find a place that can actually recreate that.... Amazing! With respect to the service, I have nothing but good things to say. Quick service, attentive waitress, and food orders entered immediately. No complaints at all. The ambiance is also very reminiscent to the Chicago bars and downtown pizza joints so I was truly reminded of home. Just be mindful that seating can be limited so a big party may just want to call ahead to make sure you can be seated.
