When I walked in I stated hello to the server, waiting for a response from her and after a few awkward seconds of looking at me she finally stated, how many? Really, that was my welcome?The restaurant had a few customers for the early Saturday morning. I was sat at a table that was very wobbly. The server had to notice because she moved the table around before seating me. Really, all these empty tables and you sit me at the wobbly one. I ordered a hot tea and ice water. The water for the tea tasted like it came from the coffee pot. Restaurants need to learn not to use the same pot for hot water that is used for coffee. I get bad indigestion if I drink any amount of coffee. So much so I now state I am allergic to coffee. So restaurants, please stop mixing the pots without doing a deep cleaning. I also ordered "The Southerner". It has 2 sausage patties, 2 eggs over medium served on a split biscuit, covered with sausage gravy and a side of grits. I requested the gravy to be on the side. The eggs were cooked great, sausage patties also great. The biscuit they were on had an odd taste. Didn't taste like the biscuits were baked, maybe fried? That would probably explain the biscuit being tough. The sausage gravy was not good. The gravy was thin/runny with cut up pieces of the sausage patties, but it lacked the sausage flavor. The grits were also very soupy. I had pushed my full cup of hot tea to the edge of the table, the server either didn't notice or just didn't care. I was only asked once if I was needing anything else, and since she didn't ask about my full cup of tea, I wasn't going to say anything. When she came over to the table she asked if I needed anything, I stated No, I am done. She asked if I wanted my check, and I paid my tab. They do advertise Bloody Mary's and other breakfast cocktails but I didn't have any of those. The location is good, area outside for the kids to run and play. Seating outside also to watch the kids. I think I would only return to this place if I am invited out to brunch with my group of friends. Otherwise, would be a long while before I return, being hopeful things have improved. read more

We had a great Sunday brunch experience at Brick and Spoon in Texas City. Unlike most Houston bunch spots, we didn't have to wait to be seated -- Got there at around 10:30am and immediately got seated at a table for two! They have an incredible selection of Bloody Mary's and they can even be customized with tons of toppings. I stuck with water this go around but ordered the Grown Up Grilled Cheese with fries. The toast was perfectly toasted and the ingredients on the grilled cheese made for a perfect brunch sandwich. Fries were super crispy and yummy too. This is a great spot for anyone who enjoys a good local spot with fresh menu options for sweet or savory preferences. Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Highly recommend. Came here on a Saturday at noon during Houston restaurant week and it was not super busy! For $25 + tax & tip I got a deviled egg with a fried shrimp and some sort of sauce with brisket or something idk but it was yummy, my second course was the fried fish and grits, I enjoyed the fried catfish but idk the grits were not my type. For dessert I got the s'mores waffle it tastes like eating a funnel cake! Very sweet very delicious! The presentation of each dish was also wonderful! Honestly, it was pretty good for Texas City. I didn't expect much because it's, well, Texas City and IYKYK. Service was fantastic from our servers to everyone there. The server apologized for being short staffed but everything moved along rather well which was nice. Parking was a breeze because it's in the Mall of the Mainland parking lot in an area called restaurant row. Food was a four for this area of town. For the big city it would be a three. We decided last minute to have Brunch and we were able to get a reservation. It took a few minutes for someone to speak to us at the desk to get us seated. Service was good but a little slow however there were people filling in the gaps as our server was busy. We ordered the deviled eggs with shrimp on top as a starter to share and they were delish, we also ordered the hash and it was delicious. I ordered the shrimp and avocado wrap and opted for a side salad which was a nice size, this wrap was yummy! One of us ordered the crab-cake dinner and we all tasted it, was delish! One ordered the shrimp tacos she said they were good. The bathroom was nice and clean, the aesthetics of the restaurant pleasant. The downside is it was HOT in there. We searched just a little to find this place because it's nestled in what appears to be a previous shopping mall, surrounded by office space.with a few other restaurants right in a row. Slightly spicy full of flavor Corn Grits: 7.5/10. Taste & general consistency was very good but they had lumps. Crab Cake Benny: 10/10. All the favors worked well together. I'm not a big bacon lover but if you are it adds a nice dimension to this dish. You get bacon in every bite since it's crumbled with the spinach. If you are a Bloody Mary drinker they have a nice concept of make your own where you use a checklist to identify all the items you want in your Bloody Mary. If this restaurant is to succeed (and I hope they do, as the food is terrific!) they must get a grip on what GOOD SERVICE means. We entered the establishment and waited 4 minutes before anyone ever acknowledged us. After we were seated, we noticed that every party that entered after us also received the same level of ignorance. We began timing how long it took for entering customers to be acknowledged. In most cases, it was more than 5 minutes. In addition to this service flaw, our server was totally inept. Very slow. Never refilled coffee (even after requesting a refill - her thinking was apparently interrupted by something shiny) and the dessert we ordered was never even submitted to the kitchen. So, enough about the extremely poor service. Moving on the food - - - it was DELICIOUS! In every aspect - - flavorful and served hot. Our party of 4 enjoyed the deviled eggs, crab cakes Benedict, and a couple of different omelets. If a member of the management team sees this review, we really hope you can address the service issues, because the food is PHENOMENAL, and it would be a shame if the poor service resulted in a failure to serve such a great menu! read more

I have tried different things from this place a few times before and most of what I ordered was disappointing due to those items being given to me not as described. The one thing that has been good consistently is the banana foster beignets. They are absolutely delicious. The beignets are different from New Orleans style beignets (these are more of a dough like texture) but they were still good and worked very well with the banana foster sauce, which was the star of the show. I ordered on ubereats this time and I was happy to see that the sauce was packaged separately so that the beignets wouldn't get soggy. Whoever is running this place, should be reevaluated. As an F&B manager for hotels for 5+ years, the whole experience was astonishing. Firstly, all the servers are their own bartenders, so once we ordered, it took our server 30 minutes to get our bloody Mary's to us. It took so long to be greeted by said server, that we order our app, cocktails, and entree at the same time. Still took 75 minutes to get our main dish. During this time, we watched 3 tables leave due to no one greeting them. Secondly, the fact that at least half the tables ordered a cocktail, implies the need for a delegated bartender. This was a rough experience. Server was amazing though, just no common sense on floor execution. And that's the managers fault, not the servers. read more

Our family of 5 kids and 7 adults stopped here on our way back home from Galveston to Austin, and we are glad we did. Had brunch today and we had a great time. Atmosphere was great. They were short staffed and the kitchen struggled, but Isaiah, our server saved the day. He was so patient with out party of 11!!!! He apologized for the wait on our meals and he worked hard to get us our food as soon as he could. The kitchen had made three mistakes on our whole table's order, and he apologized and fixed everything with a smile, and then ended up offering us a discount on our bill for the trouble.
