A wonderful Aveda Concept Salon! The salon accepts the Aveda Gift Card which is a huge added bonus to Pure Privelage members with Aveda. The prices are very reasonable, the service is fantastic, easy and free parking is plentiful and being an Aveda salon, the Aveda tea is simply wonderful! One thing that this location does lack though is a spa type feel to it. The room where you get your hair washed appears to be a converted closet or office space that has a weird feel to it. When you are getting your hair washed, two spotlights shine in your eyes that provide light in the room and a shower curtain type rod separates the area where only employees can go. All in all though this is a great place that has quality products (only the best), great service, competitive prices and is a place that I would recommend to friends. I am still a little annoyed by my color but it is partially my fault. I went in knowing the cuts are incredible, talked them up and came out disappointed. I went in with bright blonde hair from a summer highlightin' and asked to begin my transition to my roots. The moron that answered the phone told me I would not be ready to see that much brown yet so a ombré was out of the question since it would overwhelm me -wtf? So I said fine let's go for lowlights because it's true, I don't want to completely cover my blonde that I paid big bucks for over the last eight months as I transitioned in. Well...I am not completely and utterly DARK brown, with a highlight line of grow out showing underneath- subtle but there. I am pissed. I would have preferred to just pay half the price and go one color instead of wasting time with foils. Now I understand the reviews, they don't listen to you and you really need to bring pics so you're on the same page. If you were to read all the reviews, overall it sounds like a hit or miss salon. I took a gamble when I saw the Groupon deal and have had my hair colored and cut twice since. The staff has been professional and friendly to me and my stylist has never been late or ruined my hair-it's unfortunate to hear that others had a bad experience. I wouldn't consider myself lucky, but I am glad that nothing crazy has happened. Victoria was able to match the color my hair was at initially and then on my second visit I asked her to darken it and it looks good. Angela was an amazing stylist! I came in wanting to do either Balayage or Ombre. I had a couple of pins on Pinterest of what I wanted and showed Angela the type of cut, and color I was looking for. She could sense that I wasn't exactly sure how bold (color wise) I wanted to go, but she walked me through the process, showed me color samples, and quickly convinced me to take my vision all the way! Go BIG or go HOME, am I right?! I walked out with my touch up appointment already booked (Did you know you get 10% off if you prebook?!! ;) Great deal!). Here's my problem - every time i have been to this salon i have had some type of problem, but i've always given them the benefit of the doubt, but NOT THIS TIME. First appointment (bought with the Groupon) honestly went great, so i rebooked for 2 months later. My appointment was at 12:00, and FIVE minutes before my appointment (i was running late) i get a phone call telling me that my hair stylist doesn't work there anymore, but another girl could do my hair, but she doesn't come in until 1:00 that day, i was less than a mile away, and my house was 20 minutes the opposite direction! So, I waited in my car for an HOUR until my hair stylist who, i was told, "MIGHT be in at 12:30, but usually about 1:00". Hair cut went great, so, once again, not wanting to find yet another hair stylist, i booked another appointment for 2 months later. Next appointment, low and behold, my (latest) hair stylist has quit and NOBODY had told me...so, yet again, i get ANOTHER stylist. Does nobody care that the client might actually CARE who their hair stylist is? This girl feathered my hair and started to cut layers when i PANICKED and stated (AGAIN) that i wanted BLUNT ends and NO layering!! My gloss actually LIGHTENED my hair, not darkened like she promised. Additionally, i have never had a worse blow dry in my life. Not a single brush or clip or even comb was used, and after WAY too much use of a straightening iron (hmm maybe a sign you aren't blow drying correctly), i walked out of there with frizzy, damaged hair with terrible looking ends. After giving this salon, and the stylist Jaime, two tries over the past 8 weeks, I'm very disappointed with the results of the service I received. My first visit was with an expired Groupon, which they were not happy to honor. Since the expired Groupon has no promotional value, this is literally like paying with cash (cash I'd already given them months ago), so I didn't appreciate their reluctance to honor it. Once that obstacle had passed, I was excited to try highlights with Jaime. At my first visit, I came in with dyed, but healthy, hair and asked for dark pink highlights. We discussed options and came up with a close match in the Aveda dyes. When Jaime was finished, the highlights looked gorgeous and she gave my hair a fantastic blow out. Unfortunately, the highlights faded to an orange-blonde color within a week, despite using the Aveda products Jaime had recommended. I've been getting my hair colored for over 25 years, so in my heart, I knew this was a screw up on their part, but I decided to give them another try in case it was a fluke. I had loved the color of the highlights while they lasted. When I talked to Jaime about my next visit, she'd suggested coloring the rest of my hair slightly darker brown and going brighter with the pink highlights. When I arrived for my visit, there was some confusion, as Jaime wanted to put very dark cool-toned brown on my reddish-brown hair. I have fairly pink/red undertoned skin, it's easy to tell at a glance that I would not look good in a cool toned hair color, so I'm very surprised she pushed so hard for it. Ultimately, we decided on a medium-dark brown. The color was darker than I wanted, but did turn out to be a nice shade... except on the ends of my hair, where too much dye was loaded up. So, my hair looks dark brown with black ends. As for the highlights, I should have taken it as a warning when Jaime insisted we did not do dark pink highlights the previous time (even though I have pictures to prove it) and stated it was not possible to do them. She lightened my hair more than the previous appointment, and put on reddish-coppery highlights instead of the dark pinkish red I had the previous time. These, like the previous, faded within days even though I did not even wash my hair. (All that color seemingly came off on my pillow and bedding at night). More over, after my second visit with Jaime, my hair was visibly damaged on the ends and around the face. My hair's been dyed and highlighted literally hundreds of times in my life, and this is only the second time a professional stylist has ever done this much damage. After four hours and over $300 of salon fees, I ended up going to a trusted hair dresser in another city to fix Jaime's work. Needless to say I won't be back. The only thing I would trust this salon with is a blow-out which was fantastic. read more

I will not be returning to this salon or any of its affiliates. When I scheduled my appointment a week in advance and was called 1.5hours before my appointment and told that they couldn't see me because my stylists apartment had burned down. That's fine, but apparently they didn't have anyone else to see me for my appointment. We arranged to squeeze me in the next morning. I arrived on time, but the doors were still locked. After coming in the first opportunity I had to explain what I needed was after my hair had been washed. We made small talk and it was very clear that my previous stylist (who I loved) had quit or been fired because they didn't get along. I showed the new stylists photos of my previous cut, and of course Pinterest inspiration of what I needed. She started cutting before I was done. After less than 15 minutes she was 'done'. And my hair looked okay... But I felt I was being rushed out. She casually mentioned that we really hadn't done much today and it could have been a "complementary bang trimming"... But that since I said it was a "cut", it'll be $50... After a 10$ discount for the inconvenience of having to reschedule. Fine. Not fine- I looked like I went to super cuts. Literally. The worst cut ever. Now normally I would just go in and have her fix it but the salon is way out of my way, and clearly they suck at scheduling. So I called for a refund. But I was passed the "THREE DAY REFUND POLICY" I've never been given the run around like this. Any other salon would apologize and give you a refund to avoid a review like this. But they said I would have to work something out with the stylist... Who never called me of course. After 48 hours of back and forth, literally playing the telephone game, I just gave up. Apparently they get in trouble when a refund happens and they didn't want to tell their boss, and the gal I've been on the phone with was working from home because her kid was sick, and the lady that have me a shit haircut 'would call me' to work something out 'when she's not busy' Crazy bad customer service. I never received my refund. I will not return and have nothing nice to say about this company, their stylists, or the way the treat their customers and so business. read more

I should preface this by saying I went to this salon in November. I should have written this review sooner and I tried to contact the salon about my terrible experience but we played phone tag for awhile and then I was distracted with the holidays. The front desk person was really nice and honestly, my stylist was nice enough. The problem is, she didn't bother listening to me at all and did a pretty terrible job of cutting my hair. I actually question if she went to stylist school because she honestly cut up the back of my neck. It hurt for multiple days after I got my haircut. I have thick, wavy hair that is cut into a short, asymmetrical hair cut. I will admit, my hair was a bit overgrown, but she seemed to have an overgrown difficult time. The haircut itself was okay, it was something I could live with for awhile, but she definitely was not mindful of where my curls were and did not look great as it grew out. She also didn't listen to me when I told her multiple times that I let my hair air dry and always wear it curly. Instead, she decided to blow dry it super straight. This is not an uncommon thing for uncreative stylist to do. It has become the barometer on if I really like a stylist. Well let me take that back, she did finally hear that I normally wear my hair curly and asked if I wanted her to use a curling iron to curl my hair after she was almost done straightening it. That is a first. Of course I don't want you to spend more time overworking my hair. I knew going in that this place had mixed reviews, but I honestly never imagined an experience this bad. I have only had other really good experiences as other Aveda Salons and thought they were held to a higher standard. The salon was pretty small and seemed cramped. Also compared to other Aveda Salons, it didn't seem well maintained - like greasy looking handprints on the black cabinets. Definitely go somewhere else. I came in for a cut with a groupon I bought and had such a positive experience. My hair stylist, Michelle, listened to me longer and asked more questions than I have ever experienced with a hair stylist (and I have been to MANY!). I have styled this curly hair for over 15 years (once I was able to do it myself) and she was willing to listen to me with all the trial and error I have experienced. The result was that I had the exact cut I wanted after only being there one time! She was also so sweet and unpretentious, which I can sometimes find in stylists which make me not feel as comfortable. It can be intimidating and frustrating when hair stylists think they know better what I need than listening to me...who has lived with this hair much longer. Again, she was so great. I went in for a hair cut. I have long hear and I wear it with lots of layers, body and wavey. All she had to do was touch up my layers. But instead she did everything else but that. I spent 1 hr and 45 mnts not to mention that I had to go back the next day because I HAD THE WORSE HAIR CUT EVER and short. Layering hair, long hair at that should not be that difficult. It's like the basic trait in the industry!!!!. My hair was described by many..as choppy, uneven, not blended, blocky, "worse hair cut I've ever since", one says. I showed her one picture, we did a mini consultation, and she gave me EXACTLY what I came for. If you want layers this is the girl to go to. She kept my length, gave me volume and layers, and even showed me some tricks of the trade (because lets be honest - it never looks the same when you're styling it yourself). HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE experience. I paid 120 for a bleach and tone which to start is absolutely ridiculous. My hair dresser in CA does it for 65 and is WAY BETTER. I was with Jamie. DONT SEE HER. She's young, and totally unprofessional. I don't think she knows what she is doing. I needed my roots bleached and wanted my hair toned to a darker, ashier blonde color. She knew this and was on board. She puts a lightening treatment in my hair for about 1/3 of the time necessary then washes it out. I came in with dark roots and platinum blonde hair. She left me with an inch and a half of grow out that was no longer light brown, but now 100% brassy orange. She then tried to tone my entire head to match that color which I was not okay with. The entire time she tried to make me feel badly about getting a bleach and tone and also tried to make me feel badly about the fact that SHE did not leave the treatment on long enough (which she wouldnt admit). She was extremely unprofessional and immature. She was stomping around the salon and sighing the entire time. Not to mention, she ran out of time to trim my hair like she said she would (a cut was a part of the deal i paid for) and ran out of time to finish the whole bleach and tone process. Another stylist then had to fill in for her and finish me, but then she ran out of time and was unable to cut my hair for me and left my hair partially wet as i left the salon. I left with ORANGE roots that did not match my hair whatsoever, no hair cut, two extra hours of unplanned time, 120$ down the drain and a really unpleasant taste in my mouth about the whole situation. The cost of guy hair cost is very reasonable and great customer service. My stylist was Denitza and she was fantastic and this is coming from a guy that is VERY picky about his hair. She listened to my request, made changes in the style half way through the cut and took her time doing it. Unbelievably disappointed in my experience at Antonio Melani Salon. I purchased a Groupon to give their salon a try, thinking that it might be nice to find a stylist a little closer to home that I liked. First I was asked to come in early that day because they'd had a cancellation, but when I arrived I waited for over 30 minutes before my stylist came to collect me. No consultation about my haircut while my hair was still dry - the stylist went straight to color. But not before informing me that the Groupon I had purchased actually only covered a "root touchup" and that I'd have to pay a $20 fee to cover the extra product for an all-over color process. I didn't really end up with the color I thought I had described, but it's not horrific so I haven't bothered to have it corrected. Once the color was done processing and my hair was soaking wet, we finally had a conversation about what I wanted in a cut. The cut wasn't at all what I had asked for, and the more I live with it the less I like it. Two hours and an extra $20 later (plus a tip that I regret), it was a so-so experience with results that actually feel a little worse than what I had going on before I sat down in the stylist's chair, and hair that feels like straw when it's wet now despite a conditioning treatment. And after comparing the value of the Groupon I bought with the service prices listed on their website, I realize I was robbed with that extra $20 charge. The Groupon absolutely should have covered an all-over color, and I'm wondering exactly how many Groupon buyers they shirked out of an extra $20. Nice way to make a paycheck for them, I guess. My latest disappointment was today when I had an apt for cut/color and hadn't gotten a confirmation call so I called to make sure it was today...when I called they told me that my stylist had left a few weeks ago and I needed to reschedule...no apology...I asked why nobody had called me sooner to let me know and told them this was terrible service and I was really disappointed. Bought ta Groupon Thursday and immediately made the appointment once the voucher was issued for Friday at noon (15th). at 11:22am I called the salon to confirm and make sure that they knew about my Groupon (spoke with Clay, the owner, both times). Then got into my car and drove the 20 minutes to the salon. At 11:55am (33 short minutes later) the salon called me and said that their power was out and that they were cancelling my appointment. I had terrible experience. Had appt for full foil and cut. When I got her they didn't have record of my appt. The owner guy said he would take care of me. He proceeded to start the color on one side while someone whom I found out layer was brand new doing the other side. She was in training and he was sooooo mean to her. Made me very uncomfortable. I asked if it would look good two people doing it. He said of course. They continued and when I finally got to a professional to do my cut she said I was going to have to come back to get my color fixed. I'm going to have to leave two reviews because the second stylist I had was outstanding; especially considering the job she had cut out for her after my original stylist, Jody, left my hair a complete mess. The short of it, don't let Jody touch your head! I spent two hours with her, showed her pictures, picked a color swatch, etc. and walked out of there with pumpkin orange "highlights" and a cut that may as well have been done with children's scissors by a child. There was up to an inch and a half difference in length from one side to the other and the word "mullet" was used to describe the left side of my head... I went in for a bob. So after the most uncomfortable two hours of my life and an undeserved tip I had to go back and spend an additional three hours for corrections. My advice, steer clear of Jody. read more

I received the absolute worst haircut from here! I have very easy hair, long, straight, and natural color. I asked for simple layers, and I got two. A big chunky top layer and a think bottom long layer. Not to mention I was rushed out because she was 20 minutes late to her next appointment. I told the lady to cut my bangs to my eye brow, but it end up an inch above the eye brow and I asked for a simple layered hair and it doesn't look likes its been layered. Went there this past April on my birthday. Found this place on Groupon and it's just down the street from me. I made an appt and got seen. I waited about 30+ mins over my appt time. I was seen by Victoria. I paid for haircut and partial highlights. What I Got? She thought my dark hair just need some color from the color I described her. Ok, weird cuz I am paying for highlights and getting foiled hair color instead. I didn't argue thinking she knows what she's doing. 3 and a half hours later.. I can tell she underestimated my hair. She made a small mix of hair dye to foul my hair and had to mix another in the middle of the processess. So, after over 3 hours, my hair got washed. Oh, my hair only showed a little color because she used hair dye instead of highlights and the color I got was not the color I wanted. Imagine that.. then to top that, I got my haircut. She didn't show me after she dried my hair of what my hair looks like. She continued on styling and curling after the haircut. I didn't know what my hair looked like until the next day when I washed it. I had to go to my birthday dinner looking like curly sue. She curled it that much. I absolutely LOVE this salon and my stylist, Jaime. Previously I'd been going to the institute downtown in order to save money but bought a Groupon just to remind myself what it was like to have someone other than a student cut my hair. This groupon included color as well. Jaime was great and I've been going back to her about every 4-5 weeks for about a year now for trims and additional color treatments. I have loved all the suggestions she's made when I wasn't sure about my course and she also recommended the Invati products which have done wonders for my hair. She definitely rates 5+ stars. The only reason I didn't give the review 5 stars is because of the shampoo chairs. They are, unfortunately, a torture. I have problems with my neck after suffering a severe injury years ago and dread every minute I have to spend with my head leaned back over the sink. Because you are off the floor, your head is wedged into the crook of the sink and your feet dangle, there's no way to support your weight while you get washed, rinsed and, heaven help, any other product added to your hair. I use my elbows as well as I can to support my weight but can never relax like I'd like to. In all fairness I don't think I've really mentioned this to the staff but will definitely do so next time I'm in which is in a couple of days. read more

I went to this Salon at the end of Nov, 2012 for my holiday look.... I am sooo sad to say I ran out crying after the second attempt to remove the purple color that was suppose to be blonde and brown! I am NOT KIDDING. The Stylist was so very nice and she said she had 20 years experience. After trying to correct the color (she read the directions wrong) twice, I headed out the door in tears the night before Thanksgiving. I called the Owner... I only asked for the refund on the coloring. I received a cut and it was ok. I didn't want to rip off anyone just what I thought was fair. The owner refused! AMAZING!!! Victoria did wonders!!!! i went to there hair salon in lynnwood and the girl screwed up my hair hard core. she did everything i told her not to do and died it an awful un even color. BUT i made an appt. with victoria to fix my hair. i was very nervous because the first color was already damaging to my hair let alone dying it again. But i came into the lobby ontime for my hair cut. I was greated by a very happy CUSTOMER that was so excited her daughters hair was fixed then talked up how amazing victoria was. I felt better but still didnt know how well this was going to go. Victoria brang me back and said right off the bat, what do you like about your hair and what do you not like. I told her and she said alright your gonna love this because im going to fix it. I was in on Friday evening and saw Karica. It started off rough.... Couldn't find parking, which I drove around the Town Centre a good 15 minutes. When I made the appt was told go in the doors next to the elevator. They were locked! I I'm WTF? I have an appt tonight! After standing there a good 10 minutes, a customer and 2 stylists came to the front counter and the CUSTOMER had to point to go in the other door on the outside of the building. So I asked about and Karica just said, "oh its been locked all day". OK, and you know this and it's still locked?!??!? On to my hair.... I had a horrible experience at the last salon on July and haven't been to anyone since. I was a lil apprehensive of Karica with her tattoos and piercings and purple hair, but man she is good! I LOVE my partial foil, toner, and haircut! She totally got what I wanted and a week later, it still looks just as fabulous as it did when she first did it. Added bonus, if you book an appt in advance, you get 10% off your next visit. Prices are more than I am used to paying,$115 for partial foil and toner then haircut is an additional $45 I think, since I used my Groupon discount for my first visit, but Karica is worth it. Man...when you say "Aveda" you expect some standard!! Anyways I got the groupon and went for a deep conditioning and hair cut. PATHETIC. I showed my stylist a picture of what kind of hair cut I wanted ended up nothing like that! She spent over an hour on my hair..man I was just waiting to get out of there..every product she used she would give it to me and ask me to read the ingredients???!! and all dripping with liquid..and old hair stuck on it YUK! When you charge even 30$ or 35$ or even 20$ for a hair cut - you want it to be hygienic..and get what you want..I am never going back and please there are much much better places you can go to. My hair is still a mess - when I walked out of the salon my hair was NOT conditioned neither shiny - it was like so sticky and oily..sick place. read more

I too bought the Groupon deal and had a great experience. I got an appointment right away and only had to wait a couple minutes before my stylist came out. She then talked at length with me about my hair and what I was looking for before she started anything. When I left, I had a whole new look and I have gotten nothing but compliments. I plan on going back, for sure! read more
