This place is the place to be for late night drunk pizza trips but unfortunately, once sober it is overrated. They do have pretty decent pizza don't get me wrong but I wouldn't go out of my way to get it. It can be very dry depending and the crust can be tough which I am not a fan of.. They did used to have a steak and mushroom pizza with a white sauce I would rate a 9/10 but I don't think they have it anymore. read more

I happened to sample their special, which was a spinach, mushroom, and garlic pizza. It was awesome and definitely a great size for a slice. Great local spot! So many options, I wish we had more time. We did a ranch bacon chicken one that was on a Sicilian cut and that was by far the best one we had. So good. Also had a mushroom spinach pesto Parmesan one too that was a great. And a black bean, tomato and avocado one which I didn't love but my husband did! Super nice staff that helps you decide what to try with all the crazy options. They are funny, sarcastic and you can tell they love their job. Highly recommend- it does get packed though! I am a recovering New Yorker and LOVE living in New England. I miss a few things from New York. One is the pizza. This place, Antonio's is it. A pizzeria that produces a pizza can go head to head with anything from NY. The good pizza aside, this place is an impressive operation. Watching the staff move, with no wasted movement, fulfilling the pizza needs of a never-ending line of hungry customers is impressive. Antonio's will always have a special place in my heart. I mean, you can't beat their $1 cheese slices (I think these were offered on Friday nights after a certain hour) and the immense number of different pizzas you can choose from to buy by the slice! My favorites were the avocado quesadilla, chicken bacon ranch (when you feel like indulging) and the square (Sicilian) pizzas. The slices are fairly large & triangular (it was $3+ per slice when I was a college student), and the pizza crust is on the slightly thicker side - the layer of toppings they place on top will NOT fall or slide off! And there are people constantly making fresh pizzas, so once you arrive you just take a look down their awesome line of already made pizzas, and then they'll quickly heat up the slice in the oven so it comes out hot! Interesting part is the avocado doesn't brown while it's heated in the oven. This place is infamous, so much so that I heard Harrison Ford grabbed a slice while he was in town. read more

You usually go to a pizza place and you have plenty of options on full pies but very limited slice options. Not Antonio's. The variety available by the slice is incredible. In our group we had some classic pepperoni, a Hawaiian, a buffalo chicken, and a tortellini. C and B got the pepperoni and I think were happiest. I liked both of mine and G liked hers but the OG seemed to be the biggest hit. It's like red sauce at an Italian restaurant -- order the pepperoni to take the true measure the first time you go. They had adapted to the COVID-19 requirements and were handling it effectively. I could see how this has become legendary among the college campus set and wouldn't hesitate to go again and keep trying out the various options. read more

I ordered exactly what my friend ordered, which was the Avocado Quesadilla pizza. This pizza contains avocado, pico de gallo, tomatoes, sour cream, cilantro, cheese, and tortilla chips. This was probably the most unique gourmet pizza that I have had tasted in a long time. I love the crunchy tortilla chips on the pizza which gave the pizza a unique texture. The pico de gallo added a little bit of spiciness. Antonio's Pizza is definitely worth a try if you are in the Amherst area. read more

Antonio's is just an all and all great pizza shoppe. They have all different kinds of pizza options to satisfy everyone. They always have some crazy options available like tortellini pizza, fresh salad, and so many more crazy options! I especially like Antonio's because they serve pizza by the slice, which is awesome because sometimes you don't need a whole pizza. However, because they serve pizza by the slice I find that sometimes certain pizza's look like they have been sitting out for awhile, so although it's more convenient you also give up getting really fresh pizza. The other negative thing I want to say about their pizza by the slice is that's it is a bit expensive when you compare how much more you get if you paid a little extra for them to make a pizza for you. But that's with anything, we have to pay for the convenience of things rather than quantity. All in all I think Antonio's is a great pizza place and I will continue to come here, just maybe not at 12AM when the lines are out the door. read more

I've been looking forward to my trip to Amherst for quite a while. I hadn't been in 21 years. This is my college town. Antonio's is where I ate pizza from at least twice a week for almost four years. To say I was looking forward to waiting in the cramped line and savoring my slices is an understatement. Even though Antonio's offers like 30 different slices at any given moment I didn't really have to think about it. I want a Buffalo Chicken Blue Cheese and a Tortellini Pesto. My best friend, who I met at UMass orientation 25 years ago, ordered a Hawaiian and a Black Bean Avocado. Two Diet Cokes and we got the last seats in the house (they have 4 tables.) We were living large. I don't eat chicken anymore but I ordered the chicken pizza anyway because it was my favorite. There was almost no buffalo sauce and after a couple of bites I stopped after biting into a piece of chicken that was tough. The Tortellini Pesto pizza was good albeit slightly greasy. The Diet Coke was delicious. We finished up, gave up our seats, and went about our day. We were both stricken with upset stomachs a couple of hours later. Neither of us have that problem often and we ate nothing that was the same. I'm genuinely delighted to see Antonio's is still on Pleasant St and still packing them in. I'm not sure whether to attribute it to us and the fact that our 40 something year old palates have matured or to the decline in quality and care given to the product. I can't give anything less than 3 stars just for nostalgia alone. A-OK. We all have off days. read more

I was told about this place from friends and decided to check it out as my last stop before handing back to CT from my day trip in MA. I ordered a medium size grilled chicken Alfredo and took it home. I do fault the drive for teasing me all the way home as I was engulfed with the smells of Alfredo. I did enjoy it later that night and wasn't that all I was told. Again thinking it could have been the drive I'll give it another try and maybe order something different. The restaurant has that quickness that you are looking for in a college food joint with choices of whole pies or slices already prepared. It was quick to wait on but with other stores next door, my feet ended up carrying me to find a dessert for my pizzia down the sidewalk. read more

For my 100th review, I decided it had to be epic. What's a favorite spot that I haven't yet reviewed? Since I tend to review the places I frequent, I had to think for a minute, and then it came to me! Antonio's! Is there a better place on this planet for such zazzy, jazzy, colorful, and unique pizza? Nope. I grew up in Amherst, frequenting Antonio's at least weekly, if not more. I've tried a zillion flavors and now that I'm not close, I long for the zesty Black Bean Avocado, the rich Potato Cheddar, the fluffy Sicilian squares, and the oh-so-unique Quesadilla pizza! Note for new comers or the undecided: You don't order at the front of the counter. THE LINE STARTS by the glass display, where you can see the gorgeous pizza slices! Head straight in and back (not to the right). If there are people in line, don't worry it generally moves quickly. Order once you are by the glass, if you don't know what you want, you can let those behind you pass. Then wind to the front counter to pay. Then (and this is important) GET OUT OF THE WAY! Your pizza order will be called when it's hot and ready, and there is no room for loitering by the counter. If it's nice outside, your best bet is to take your pizza to go. Otherwise, use your waiting time to hover over seating/counter space and if you want an open spot claim it immediately. If you are from the area, Antonio's is a carefully planned visit - timed just right so you can hop in your car as quickly as possible with your favorite piping hot slices, in order to avoid the once familiar faces of your high school acquaintances or your mom's old friend. Us locals need the line to move smoothly and quickly, because an extra minute in line might mean you're stuck updating awkward Larry on your life and children and job and your plans for the holidays. I hope as restaurants grow and change that Antonio's stays just the way they are. The new sign was hard enough for us locals, so please don't change anything else. While I no longer know the employees name and they don't know mine anymore, one employee lived in my basement for a while, and I almost went on a date with an old manager, and the pizza tastes like home. And if you want to tell me that it's not the best pizza, and the place is too crowded, and the employees rush you, then go somewhere else! read more
