The staff at Primos is so so rude. Me and my friends were inside and we ordered a pizza. We waited over a hour for the pizza, when finally my friend went up and asked about the pizza. The worker proceeded to grab the pizza off the shelf and then called him a puta. And another time. I was cussed out for being loud. They could have told me to quiet down, but i was with a group of friends and we were being a bit loud but not annoying. The man cussed at me and told me to leave his store. They said it would take 30-45 minutes, but we waited 2 hours. I wish they had just been honest and we could have driven to pick it up, which is what we've done at other places. The food arrived not cold, and it was fine. Salad was a bit better than Brunos, calzones much worse, dough was tough. Pasta was fine, but almost too greasy for kids to eat. Since my last visit the place was renovated and looking even better. This is an excellent pizza, sub, and even South American food spot. This is where you go when you are really hungry. This is not where you go to celebrate your anniversary. The service is friendly and the ambience is perfect for what it is a delicious pizza shop with surprisingly great other things like Garlic Knots and cookies. I went in here today, after going to the Hadley Establishment. I arrived around 3pm , 4/28/20. I figured the other Primos wasn't adhering to good mask wearing food prep during the Coronavirus--maybe the Amherst locale would be ok. The man cooking food was not wearing a mask. I didn't order, just moved onward in search of a sub / pizza shop where folks would use universal precautions when cooking during the Coronavirus. It's not hard to wear a mask. Yuck. How can anyone preparing food not believe that breathing over the food they cook couldn't transmit something? We have family members that work at Wholefoods and they've been wearing masks for weeks during the Coronavirus in the prepared foods sections. The real highlight for me are the burritos. I know it sounds like nonsense to order a burrito at a pizzeria but they're damn good. Unfortunately Western Mass lacks good places where you can get a burrito -- even a lot of the dedicated Mexican joints are quite bland. This has, ironically, become my go-to. It's not necessarily spicy and it does have lettuce, but it's made well, seasoned well, and huge. The lettuce doesn't even bother me that much since they make such a good burrito, they know how to add it so it doesn't wilt and it just provides a little crunch. read more

They made us DoorDash over ordering over the phone. We DoorDashed just fine. We waited an hour and a half until we called the door dasher. When the door dasher picked up they swore at us after claiming on the app that they picked up this pizza. The doordasher canceled. We called Primos themselves and politely asked to pick the pizza up ourselves. THEY HUNG UP ON US. These people are not kind and have no customer service. 1 star pizza may be good but by the time we got it after 2.5 hours and $40 later it was cold and we were very angry. I bet they'd suggest their policy on third party delivery after they suggested we use that. Bye primos you lost many customers. read more

There are regular local homeless people who come in every day, reach over the counter tops past the glass, and tap the slice of pizza they wanted to order; completely unsanitary. The cooks will insult you in Spanish. Food once was passable for a hole in the wall pizza shop kind of place, but in recent months has really declined. Tastes a little "off". Hit up Antonio's around the corner for an albeit busier, but better pizza shop atmosphere. read more

Two things: ONE, I can't believe this place has not had a review since April of 2010! TWO, I am SO MAD that I did not snap pictures of what I had from Primo's to share the awesomeness that you all need to get with ASAP. This place is a hidden gem in the sense that everyone overlooks this place because of all the supposedly "better" food spots that Amherst offers. For a touch of home cooked food mixed with money value plates, Primo Pizzeria Too is the place to order from! The other night my boyfriend and I ordered pasta from here, me getting the Primo Alfredo Specialty (spicy alfredo sauce, sausage, chicken, salami, red peppers and broccoli all tossed together with linguini pasta) and my boyfriend got the Primo Choy Suey (ziti, ground beef, marinara sauce, romano cheese). When the guy took our order he made a mistake on the Chop Suey and it got delivered to us with tuna added in. We quickly called back after realizing this, and they were so nice to not only make us another one fast and deliver it to us, but allowed us to keep the mistake! I would give you another five stars Primo for having nice staff! The pasta, weighing probably about THREE POUNDS EACH, also comes with a side salad with the dressing of your choice!(!) and four garlic knots baked to delicious garlicky perfection! PRIMOS IS NO JOKE! My boyfriend discovered this place when he worked just across the way on a new construction (UMass off-campus housing). He's not a pizza fan, like at all, but they make a pie called the "Nely Maria" topped w/ black beans, avocado, chopped tomatoes, feta, mozzarella, and sometimes chicken, that he pretty much deemed his favorite pizza of all time. For a non-pizza lover, that's a pretty big breakthrough! Anyways, for the entire year+ he worked on that building, he probably had a slice of their pizza 3x a week for lunch, and would occasionally bring me home a slice too! That's when I got a taste of their "BBQ Chicken Bacon Ranch" pizza. To die for! No lie guys, we live in CT and have literally made the hour trip it takes to get there, just for a slice of our favorites from here... and I love that they give you the option of buying by the slice. If one slice doesn't fill you, it's nice to be able to try a different flavors w/o having to buy whole pies to do so. 5 stars for their pizzas, but we haven't tried any of their other menu items. read more

I usually get the wing zing slices during happy hour, amazing. I got a chicken Alfredo pasta last night and it was great for its price. For $10.70ish with delivery, I got the alfredo and it came with 4 garlic knots and a side salad. Usually I get Brunos for the same price but without the added sides. The alfredo is good. There's a whomping large menu, but the prices are just under Antonio's for being ridiculously high, and I got mediocre, greasy pizza to boot. I could get a pizza twice as good for two thirds the price at more than one place in Turners Falls, and I can't imagine ordering from here as long as Bruno's delivers. Oh well. read more

I really want to give this spot 5 stars. They make some of the best food in the Western Mass area. But Jesus! Their delivery is slooooowwww or in some cases they don't even have delivery on some days. Ordered a large cheese pizza and some fries and was told it was suppose to be 40 45 minutes. An hour later, decide to call just to check, assuming it was just busy. Guy on phone says it should only be a few more minutes. That's fine. But now, I wanna say its about 9pm at this point and I ordered around 715pm. I'm thinking maybe the delivery driver got into an accident so I call back. Different person on phone then says because my location is a bit far its going to be longer than normal deliveries. I only order every few months but I never had this issue. He then says we can cancel the order if you don't want it. I mean, why cancel this late? Did they not make the food? Why would I cancel just so I'd have to wait longer for another spot? I delivered in the past so I was empathetic and told them no worries but is there an ETA or maybe can the driver let me know how far away he was? Was so upset at this point I was willing to just go meet the driver and get my food. But right after getting off the phone the driver was at my door and finally I received my food almost two hours after ordering. Cheese was hardened and everything was lukewarm. No biggie, two minutes to reheat and everything was good but I'll prob pick up from now on. Could've drove to Hartford for a pizza and came back faster than then this. read more

I ordered lunch the other day and it was the best steak and cheese grinder I've had in a while. The steak is thinly sliced rib-eye grilled to perfection on a toasted roll with melted cheese, sauteed mushrooms, lettuce and tomato. With every bite you get a little of everything! I added a bag of my now favorite, Deep River potato chips and a diet Dr. Pepper (how ironic) to round out the meal. I ordered the sandwich while I was on the road and it was ready when I got there, no time wasted standing around and waiting. It's a very good place for a sub and a slice. The sub rolls are desert-dry, but that's what the mayo is for, right? The pizza is good. Had a delicious antipasto salad today from Primo. Loaded with prosciutto, salami, ham, turkey, pepperoni and cheese over a crisp green salad. They were not at all skimpy on the meat and cheese and I had to put half the salad away for later! The salad came with three of their famous garlic and cheese knots which are worth going to the restaurant for all on their own! Priced at about $8.00, it is the best low-ish carb lunch in town! For their other options, the pizza is delicious, very crispy and generous on the toppings and you can get at least 6 different kinds by the slice every day- I really like the baked loaded potato and the meat-lovers! They also make really good calzones which are stuffed with cheese and their marinara sauce is great for dipping, not too thin, not too chunky with a nice home-made flavor. The staff is polite and they move the orders along quickly, especially cold items like salad and grinders, but its not really the kind of place you want to have a sit-down meal- its sort of grimy and bland. At least I can say with confidence, though, that they spend their time focusing on the food rather than the decor. read more

I like to go here when I need a quick bite. It's not that expensive and the food is alright. That's how I feel about many of the places in Amherst; the food is just alright. What makes Primo's so desirable is the happy hour slices at 10pm. They start selling all their slices for $1 and the line's out the door if you don't get there by 9:55pm. I'm serious, get there early! The food's not bad. Like I said, it's alright. You might not complain, but you're also not going to go there for a nice sit-down meal. It's just not that kind of spot. I would never bring my parents here. It really all comes down to what you're trying to get out of your meal. If some buddies come up to visit...sure we may pick up a slice or two. And during the wait we can just walk over the dB Mart at pick up some good chasers and mixers. read more

Happy Hour: Place is known for the $1 pizza after 10pm. Any pizza that is there is $1!! Thats a pretty cool deal for a college student. Besides happy hour, I tried their other stuff like cheesesteak sub, its pretty delicious. I think this place is underrated a bit because its off the main road. read more

This is among one of the three great places in Amherst to get slices of pizza. I love their Wing Zing pizza. The staff are very nice. I suggest taking the pizza to go after 2:30am as the place tends to fill up with high school kids and drunk college students after dark. read more

Used to be great & they would own their mistakes; now, not so much. If you're picking up, you'll probably be okay. I've been a customer for YEARS & always get the same thing & it's usually great. But recently things have declined. I got my usual roast beef sub, mozz sticks, chick fingers & fries & the sub was insanely salty, as in, I couldn't finish it & my mouth was puckered for hours. I called & they said no problem, they would take care of it next time. I didn't hold them to it that time, everyone messes up sometimes & they're usually pretty good & the rest of the order was okay. But when I ordered next time it took a lot longer to deliver than normal. They usually say 40 minutes but I called after an hour to check on it (I'm about 3-5 minutes from them but homebound so can't pick up). They said it had left & was on the way. I asked if it would be cold & they said it shouldn't be.....but it was quite cold. I don't expect it to be hot but there's nothing worse than cold mozz sticks & fries. I called & asked if they hated me since things had gone downhill. Again, they said no worries & they would take care of it next time. Tonight was next time & they said unless you pick up, you can't expect it to be hot, they never put salt on subs & they can't compensate every time... I was speechless as they had told me to just call & they would take care of it next time; & then the owner or manager hung up on me. So, very long story short, if you pick up...you're probably good, if you get delivery ya never know & if something is not satisfactory, ask that they resolve it right away rather than trusting they'll take care of you later. Loyalty & being a decent tipper apparently means squat. read more

I used to be a fairly regular customer. Primo Too is right on my way home and I'll often pick up Caesar salads. It's not great but I've never had an issue until last night. We were in the midst of the first real snow of the season. I knew there was nothing at home for dinner so I decided to pick up two GRILLED CHICKEN CEASAR SALADS on my way home (it should be noted that I live pretty far away, up in the hills of Leverett/Shutesbury) when I finally got home, we opened the bag and what I found was NOT what I ordered. Instead there were two sad looking garden salads with the mushiest cherry tomatoes I've ever seen. I immediately called them to let them k ow of the error and to get my money back. I was told that they couldn't refund my card unless I brought the salads back. To bring them back would be f*cking insane. The roads were terrible, just in Amherst, let alone Leverett and Shutesbury, plus I love 30 minutes away. I explained this and was told that it didn't matter. It was clear that they thought I was trying to score free food. I told hem that I would be in the following day when the snow was over I sort this out. Today I arrived bright and early and was basically told (by the same girl who incorrectly took my order the day before) that I would have to come back when Alfonso is in tomorrow but she couldn't tell me what time that would be and that she couldn't get the answer from someone else because "they don't speak English" and apparently she doesn't have a number to reach the manager?! In conclusion, I will not be ordering from Primo Too ever again. I've been a customer for FIFTEEN years and it is ridiculous that I should be treated this way. I actually really like the flavor of this pizza. From my experience, neither Northampton nor Amherst has very good pizza. At least this place has flavorful pizza with good cheese, not too much sauce, and a perfectly thin crust that is nicely crisped on the bottom but still flops over when it is picked up. The pizza is greasier than I would like, but the flavor makes up for it and unwanted grease can easily be removed with a napkin. I have only ordered take-out from this establishment, but have found the people behind the counter to be nice. If you are looking for thin-crust, almost NY-style pizza, I would recommend trying this place. (review based on cheese pizza with tomato sauce) read more

Apparently Primo doesn't do $1 slices between 10-11 and have a sign posted up stating so. Now its $2 since the change two weeks ago according to the cashier girl. I then asked why they doubled the rate and she told me she didn't know. I knew it was suspicious as to why there weren't long lines a couple minutes before happy hour. I love stopping by here whenever I'm visiting my mom's house. It's everything you want in a neighborhood pizza place. The steak bombs are BOMB, the buffalo chicken pizza is flavorful & the garlic knots are definitely one of a kind. This isn't somewhere I want to order a salad, because I don't think they specialize in that.
