I've been getting food here for 12 years, the owner is awesome but I think he's out of touch with the employees. Food is great if they get it right. Today I got hung up on by the really snotty young girl who took my order as soon as the payment was done, didn't ask a name or order time. I'll start off by saying that they do have good food here. However, the service can be terrible. When they are busy they tend to get irritated and pushy. I live a little less than 5 miles from this place. They have delivered to my house several times without a hitch. However, last week I called for a delivery and they said they are too busy to travel that far. (4.5 miles)!!!!! I thought that was a little ridiculous but I went with it anyways. Then tonight I called for a delivery again and I was met with the same response. They told me that they cannot guarantee the driver will get a good tip ( I always tip the drivers very well) so it's not worth the gas money to deliver out to me. This time I could hear the boss in the background yelling NO!!!! So I promised a good tip and was still denied service. This is very aggravating, to have a pizza place sent you delivery only during certain times seems crazy to me. I will not be spending any more of my money here that is for sure. The food is good but not so good that I'll put up with this nonsense. If you live in North Amherst/Sunderland area I'd suggest giving this place a try. All the food is consistently good. Only twice did someone have a little bit too much time frying the wings and I had more fry than chicken. I always have ordered pick up from here and have never had any trouble with customer service. As for the pizza is it greasy? Yes... but I feel like person who complained about that would be someone who would write a bad review for an ice cream shop because their ice cream is too sugary. Food is good, but when I had my order delivered to Squire Village (right behind Frontier), I was told by the delivery guy that I didn't tip enough. He did the math wrong, gave a really insincere "sorry" and mumbled something about people not tipping enough as he walked away. In the process he had also told me that Frontier would stop delivering to me if I didn't tip enough. I called and complained about him. Fast forward a few months to today he is my delivery driver again. He rang the doorbell four times in a row for no reason, handed me my receipt saying "here ya go" in a rude voice. When I asked if he had a pen he said "I don't I was hoping you'd have one." His body language was super hostile and even though I tipped extra this time, he was clearly angry. I recommend picking up your food instead of risking getting an angry delivery driver. The rest of the staff is super professional and nice. read more

Just ordered from here for the first time, I've been living in the Amherst area for about a year and a half, this is the best pizza I've had since I got to the Sunderland/Amherst area, hands down. This past year I kept wanting to give them another chance to fill my penchant for pizza, only to be disappointed each time. What throws you off first is the horrible service, I'm in the industry, I know it sucks to have someone walk in with 15 minutes to go, but don't get snippy and throw phones around. It also helps if you don't tell me to wait one second, take 4 phone calls, then complain to your coworkers about how stupid people are, all before getting back to me. Also, when they say their grill is off, it's not really, they just don't want to cook the item, I saw that first hand tonight. Second, the early closing time. It's the only pizza place in Sunderland that I can think of. Why wouldn't you stay open until at least midnight. Third, the pizza is bad. Like frozen pizza in a box bad. Part of my job is making pizzas, I know at the very least what mediocre institutional dough tastes like, and theirs' isn't even close. With pizza in the name I hoped for more, and I've been let down three times. In the end bad service, overpriced, sub-par food will keep me from coming back until I hear otherwise. read more

I find the food here to be just average, and a little overpriced. I usually just get chicken fingers & mozzarella sticks, and they're as expected, nothing special. I find the pizza to be very greasy, so I avoid it. The food takes an unusually long time for them to prepare, and the service is not very good; the staff often stands chatting amongst themselves when you are waiting for them to notice you and take your order. read more

Pretty good pizza place. The pizza is your average, everyday pizza, but better than a lot of other options in the valley. My favorite item would have to be the hot wings, although they're expensive for what you get. Actually all the food is pretty overpriced for mediocre pizza-type foodstuffs.The subs are good, especially the fried chicken- and the new wraps are also really tasty. Pretty darn good pie. I moved to town recently and this is the only joint in town, but I'm glad it's here. I can't really put my finger on what you'd classify the style as... a little Greek, crust is a bit thick, but it just works. It's really good! Consistently disappointing is the best way to describe this place. I have ordered food here around a dozen times because it is the only pizza place available to those in the area without a car. Today will be my last visit to Frontier Pizza. Of the dozen visits, once the service was very good, another time it was ok and every other time it was various degrees of poor. I have never had a "horror story" visit just a whole lot of slow, poor, apathetic service. The food isn't horrible, it is mediocre, maybe slightly below mediocre depending on what you order. The prices, especially for pizza are ridiculous for a pizza joint that serves mediocre greasy Greek style pizza. Today I called in a steak and cheese sub order, and was given a wait of 15 minutes. I arrived 5 minutes later, paid for my food and waited. A half an hour after I ordered I still had no sub. I went to the counter to see what was up, my sub was sitting on a back bench getting cold for who knows how long. The person who rang me up was also making hot subs on the grill, there were a whole 2 other people in the store, apparently she couldnt be bothered to tell me my sub was done. Congrats Frontier Pizza, you finally got me to create a Yelp account. Oh btw...when I picked up my sub a sliver of something (glass?) went into my finger. read more

Fairly standard pizza and grinder shop. It's priced about the same as most other pizzza/sub shops in the area, and far superior to the Subway across the street. It's enough to get me in at least once a week. The grinders are good and usually what I get, but the pizza ain't bad either. If I call ahead, it's always ready by the time I get their 10 minutes later, and if I didn't plan ahead, I have just enough time to run to the 7-11 and back before everything is ready to go. And if I want to do neither of those things, I can sit and watch whatever's on the TV while I wait. read more

Since I grew up in Sunderland, I have been eating here since I was a child! Now that I'm an adult and living elsewhere, we still get takeout from Frontier Pizza occasionally when I'm visiting my parents. It's decent food. Pizza is good but the delivery staff sucks! The old delivery guy was great! The one they have now is extremely rude. Once he told me in passing that there was a guy who only tipped him $2 or if he got there 1 min late, nothing, so he made sure to take his time so the guys food was cold. Well, the first time he was rude to us, he complained about a $5 tip; which came out to be 16% of the order, then he threw the receipt at me. I called and let Frontier Pizza know. The next time he came out, he banged on our glass door and threw the receipt at us (no pen) and just stared. The pizza was also stone cold and is currently being rewarmed in my oven. After giving him a $4 tip, I called and let them know again. This time, they didn't care; saying it was hard for them to find a driver and while he wasn't the best, he wasn't the worst. Guess he knows he can behave that way as he won't be penalised for doing so. They told me I could just come and pick up my pizza from now on. If I'm gonna drive somewhere, I'm gonna drive for better pizza or I guess AHop will be getting all of my delivery business. First time I ordered a large veggie grinder with lettuce, pickles, black olives, provolone and American cheese and mayo - I got back my order, but with tomatoes instead of pickles. Second time I ordered the same exact thing - got back with onions instead of olives and no cheese. This is after having them tell me the order back at me to clarify. There will not be a third time. I order from frontier regularly and even my order for my office from them. Today I ordered a pizza and was given the wrong order and was greeted with eyes rolling and telling me that I ordered the wrong thing. I ordered their namesake, the frontier special, and they got it wrong. No offer to remake it, no apology, just an "are you sure" response and sent on my way. I clearly annunciated the name and on top of it tried to make apologies for them by saying maybe I mumbled and was still treated poorly. They even dragged the girl who took the order wrong out to tell me I ordered wrong and to roll her eyes at me. Horrible service. Their behavior is laughable and their reputation is understandable from the treatment I received today. My problem is not that a mistake was made, it's their refusal to acknowledge that it was their mistake. read more

On the Frontier of Bad Customer Service Frontier Pizza only survives because of its proximity to several large apartment complexes. I live in one of those apartments, and have always been disappointed with Frontier's customer service, pricing, quality, and the 45 minute wait time for pick-up. The staff are rude and stuck-up. I have never met more disinterested and unpleasant people in my life. They know that they're the only pizza within walking distance and it shows. They have been rude to me countless times on the phone and in person. When I asked if I could get a side-order of fries with a wrap, like I could with a sandwich or burger, they acted as if they were personally offended. The woman who seems to run the place is especially abrasive. The men preparing the food have a terrible attitude, are always mentally distant, and generally act like they don't want to be there. It's like when they see a customer, they are disappointed that they have to stop watching football on their 50" LCD TV and prepare basic burgers, salads, and sandwiches. And yet I kept coming back for more, unwilling to learn my lesson. Looking back I realize, I have had countless bad experiences with Frontier Pizza, and seldom, if ever, had a good experience. Shortly after I moved into my apartment, the price of everything on the menu went up. It now costs close to $3 for the world's greasiest slice of poorly executed Greek pizza. Shortly after the price increases, the staff began showing up in a Mercedes and three brand-spanking-new VW Jettas. The timing can't be a coincidence. The food is grease on grease anyways, certainly not up to par with Amherst House of Pizza, Bruno's, or even the Sub and Pizza (all of which deliver as well). Frontier Pizza is, without a doubt, the worst place to get pizza in the Pioneer Valley. I will never order from Frontier again because of the way they treat myself and others as customers. Frontier has poor customer service. The lady who works there has been straight up rude to me multiple times and they don't let you combo french fries with a wrap. I ordered a cheeseburger for pick up and they said 40 minutes. I called back and asked if I ordered it there instead would it still take that long and they they told me it would actually take longer. I then called Amherst House of PIzza and got it delivered in 30 minutes and it was $2 cheaper. read more
