What elevated the meal even further was the owner himself. He spent time talking with us, sharing how he ended up in Alaska and telling stories about his journey. Incredible food! No pictures because it got devoured before I even thought about it. We ordered this to go: two gyros (comes with Greek salad and roasted potatoes), dolmades (comes with tzatziki), and baklava. The owner was personable and even gave us an extra dessert for free! I'm not sure what it was called but it was some moist cinnamony nutmegy cookie shaped goodness. The gyros were fresh and he was not stingy with the tzatziki. The lettuce in the Greek salad looked a little old but very yummy regardless. What stood out to me most were definitely the dolmades and baklava. Best I've ever had of both. I ordered the lamb on orzo for $29 plus the grub hub fee. The potatoes were on a bed of oil. The orzo did not taste like orzo but rather just warmed up and overcooked orzo with two other types of pasta. I only got two small pieces of lamb with the meal. The salad was also little to be desired since it was two small pieces of feta, two slices of cucumber, a bunch of lettuce with balsamic vinagraitte too drained for my taste and chunks of onions and some tomato. Went here on a Thursday evening. I split the two-person special with a friend and we loved the small bites of all different foods. We could taste the classic spices and loved the combination of starches mixed with fresh feta. My other friend got the gyro and enjoyed it. To finish dinner we all got different desserts and shared. We tried the rice pudding, baklava, and Galaktoboureko (LOVED). What we loved the most was that Antonio was in the back cooking for us and there was only one worker/waitress to wait on us. My only complaint about Antonio's is that I didn't come here sooner! Wow! I went for dinner, but at an odd time in between lunch and dinner. It was just me and the chef. He put on some Greek music and began to sing and cook, it was awesome. My food was some of the best Greek I've ever had. I got the lamb, it came with salad and potatoes and dessert (greek custard). Small, intimate - and the owner definitely has character. The food was met with mixed reviews at the table - and I expected that honestly from the style. I personally loved it. The spouse did not, at least until desert. She hates "pre-made" Gyro meat, and wants it cut from the roll as she says. Homemade Pita was a hit. I had some more traditional food and definitely rank it up there. Mine was not microwaved, as I suspect may have happened to the Gyro. I'm pretty sure I want to marry Antonio so I can become his fat, happy wife. I arrived at 11:00 this morning just as he was opening. Since it was early, he was running the whole show. He was my host, server, cook, entertainment and companion. I have to say, Antonio's Cafe EPITOMIZES what I think constitues a perfect dining experience. His approach is unabashedly european... where the focus lay on hospitality and quality, rather than huge portions of mediocre food and impersonal service. I felt as though I had been transported back to Europe to a lovely hole-in-the-wall mom n' pop place that I came to love when I lived abroad. I am absolutely in love. Antonio's only has 4 tables. He could fit more, but he doesn't. He takes pride in delivering really good, homestyle Greek food in an intimate setting. You can order take out, of course, but you'd be missing out on the experience of interacting with this charming man. As I ate my delicious meal of pastisio, greek salad, dolmades and potatoes, I learned more about him and his life that I know about some of my coworkers that I've worked with for years. If you're lucky, maybe you'll hear him singing in the kitchen (he used to be a professional singer.) Antonio's food isn't for gourmands. AMAZING FOOD! I am a vegetarian and it's hard to find even one good vegetarian option that isn't a salad at most restaurants. The vegetarian pita was delicious with a flavorful hummus and great tzatziki. And the pita... IT'S SO FLUFFY! I wanted to like this place. We tried it on the spur of the moment for lunch the day before thanksgiving. The owner is Greek (very Greek), and clearly knows what he's doing. The menu is quite limited in food items, but is very good in baked goods. The owner was willing to customize a chicken gyro for me, rather than the regular gyro meat. Pretty cool. But the Greek potatoes were barely warm and oily. The rest of the food was not bad, but uninspired. The desert, a custard-filled version of baklava (can't remember the Greek name) was great. Stopped by here today on a whim for a quick to go lunch, Yelp said it was closed, but the open sign was on. The place was empty, just one guy behind the counter (Antonio maybe?) I ordered the Gyro, which also came with a side of potatoes and a Greek salad. I also picked up a baklava (more on that later). The gyro was a solid ok, I heard beeping coming from the back while I was waiting for my food, which could very well have been the pita/gyro meat being microwaved. It was really saucy. The potatoes were served cold, but were tasty and well seasoned. The salad looked brown and old. The baklava was probably the best part, it was fresh and tasted great. It's a small, quaint restaurant with a few tables and a counter for takeout. Not a very large menu but it has most of the traditional items as well as some others. I had the Greek Pizza which just sounded good to me at the time even though it's not necessarily something you would need to go to a Greek Restaurant for. My family ordered the lemon chicken and the lamb orzo. They enjoyed their meals but said it was a little dry. My pizza was amazing. The dough was nice and light and chewy on the crust. It was also cooked perfectly and not burned. The pizza had feta and onions under the cheese and topped with fresh tomatoes. At the end of the meal the waitress, 1 of the only 2 people working there, brought over a tray of baklava and a custard pastry for each of us and said they were compliments of the house - a very nice gesture I was extremely excited for because I love baklava and would have ordered it anyway. All in all I enjoyed my meal and would definitely go back for the pizza. What a find! Tucked away in the L shaped strip mall behind City Diner off Minnesota Drive is a wonderful restaurant that provides a deeply satisfying culinary experience. We stopped by for lunch on Monday. The owner, Antonio, met and welcomed us. We started with the hummus and pita - my mouth still waters remembering it. Pita was warm and fresh and the hummus was divine. I had the gyro. It said it came with roasted potatoes and a salad and frankly, I was not expecting much from the two sides. Boy - was I wrong! The potatoes were delicately roasted and lightly seasoned so they were delicious. The salad was crisp and fresh and the dressing was such a compliment to the greens and the rest of the meal. And the gyro was done to perfection. My dining partner had the lahanodolmades - cabbage rolls stuffed with rice and ground beef. Usually we talk during lunch but after the first bite, he didn't utter a word until after I heard his fork scraping an empty plate. We each tried the galaktoboureko - a creamy custard between phyllo crusts. I'm not even going to try and describe this - get one and try it for yourself. Then write a review. So after reading all the rave reviews I had to give it a try. I was not disappointed. I ordered the gyro which came with roasted potatoes and a mini greek salad, spanacopita and baklava. The order was here in less than 15 minutes, even being around the corner I didnt expect it that fast. The delivery driver was courteous and friendly. Just be aware that the minimum order for delivery is $20 because it doesnt say on the menu but delivery is free and fast. Everything was excellent! My wife and I stopped for a midday Sunday dinner. We decided to get 3 appetizers and Baklava. They were out of Tyropita so we doubled up on Spanacopita. We also had the hummus appetizer. The portions were generous and the service was spectacular. Really spectacular! We really enjoyed all of the dishes, with the exception that the hummus itself was disappointing. The food is delicious, absolutely scratch and authentic. But the best part is Antonio himself. I think he may actually be Santa Claus. I've adopted him. And for the price of a smile, after my third take out order, I think he adopted me. Now I get a delicious, mouth-watering homemade dessert thrown in every time I order to go. He's never asked me my name. We do not have conversation. He just takes my order and then makes the food. I pay and he smiles and says, "I put a Li'l dessert in for you."
