I'll start with the ambience, because this place just screams It's namesake of a little Italian restaurant. Also strong presence of Greek influence. I came here to eat with a big party, and that doesn't always result in the best experience, but this one was very good. The server and service staff were very attentive and friendly. I think the owners even came over at one point to check on the table, which I really appreciate. I had the spanakopita appetizer which was served nice and hot and very flavorful. Also, the chicken marsala had great flavor, I could've basically licked my plate. I think I did mop up the rest of the sauce on my plate when the bread came in the middle of my meal. Honestly, this would be a five star review, but at the end of the day I left here hungry. I had three fairly small pieces of chicken and maybe a dozen rigatoni pasta on my plate. First ever visit, started off good. Early dinner, seated and greeted right away but then service really dropped off. Took a long time to bring drink order and then it felt like we were mostly forgotten. The flaming cheese appetizer was the highlight when it finally showed up - very fun and quite tasty. We all tried different entrees. Chicken parm was ok - a little tough and nothing special. The seafood pasta dish with lobster sauce - nice amount of seafood and well prepared but the sauce was a bit thin and needed more flavor. Over two hours later - the place was pretty packed so I'd say it's a south side favorite? My worst complaint was the smell of cigarette smoke. We could smell it when we walked in and we were sat in the middle section of the restaurant. When I used the restroom it was REALLY strong in the back area - maybe near the kitchen? Little Italy has been around for years, and we got to try it in July 2023 for my moms birthday. We had reservations for 6 on a Saturday night at 6. We were seated right away. I didn't get to see the main dining room nor the bathrooms. There was a side door propped open and we weren't sure if that was the front or not and my family was sitting right there in front of the door so in we sat. I didn't expect to see they had a cocktail menu, I will try one next time. Around $12-14. They also have a wine room but I don't really drink wine. Our server was an older guy, knew his stuff probly been around awhile. He let us know it might take awhile for the food to come out since they only had two people in the back. I think we waited around 45 minutes maybe. Not sure. I wish they had given us the bread baskets while we were waiting but it came out with our food. The bread was soft and had lots of garlic butter. I did not really like their pizza at all. We got the Margherita pizza. My first reaction was that's not the right pizza they brought lol. It has no slices of fresh mozzarella, it looked shredded. The basil was cooked in with the cheese, the crust was flavorless, the red sauce was flavorful though, and instead of fresh tomatoes it had sun dried tomato pieces. Not what I think of when I say margherita. I however got the fettuccine Alfredo with no protein. It was pretty good. Nothing id crave. Sauce was pretty good. The only pasta really with their Alfredo I think. Other sauces were marinara, bolognese, and white wine. Next time I think I would try something off the Greek side. A little dark in the place but the service was fine. Got boxes and the check in a timely manner. Just the food backed up. Man, I really wanted to love this place, but I just have serious reservations. Let's start with the positives: 1) Really friendly and attentive service. 2) Cute, small, Mom & Pop atmosphere. Now the negatives: 1) Reservations are pretty much required. 2) Some of the interior is in dire need of renovation. 3) The food is very mediocre and very expensive. It's the #3 that really killed it for us. I got the "Little Italy's Pizza". It was fine. It tasted like above-average delivery pizza...but it was priced at $21.95. At that price-point, it was terrible. I can name a half-dozen places that have better pizza at lower prices. The dough and sauce were just so bland, generic, and uninspired. Abbey got the eggplant parmesan and, it was the exact same story. The sauce was so bland. The dish in general was so under-seasoned. If you come here, definitely make a reservation but...I would recommend most of the other sit-down Italian restaurants in town over this one. read more

Delicious local Italian and Greek restaurant! I would recommend a reservation, but we didn't have to wait very long when we walked in. The food is delicious and they have large portions. I love that they give you a carafe of water for the table as well. Some things that I think are good to know: the entrees do not come with a salad and if you sit in one of the tables to the left of the door, you will get chilly with people walking in and out. I am asking to sit on the bar side next time to avoid the draft. Things we ordered and loved: ceasar salad, chicken fettuccine alfredo, lasagna, and meatball appetizer. read more

I was here once before and the food was good. I had chicken Parmesan. This time -YUCK!!! I got the same thing. The chicken was mostly breading and very overcooked. The pasta and sauce on the side was cold. It was gross. Our server (Tyler) was so odd and uncomfortable. He kept calling my sweet 8 month old granddaughter a criminal. Inappropriate Then he was saying he Haas to have a few drinks before his shift so he could talk to people. Then said he already had a lot f complaints so what's one more. He was awful. I recommend that you call to confirm your online reservation. I was there last night and noticed a mix of diners, some had reservations, some didn't. No one was turned away, but there is limited seating. The menu is classic Italian. My wife had the chicken and pasta, I chose the lasagne. Both were served piping hot, and tasted delicious. The entrees came with garlic bread. The wine list is varied. Since we knew the server from another restaurant in town, we wanted for nothing. I've dined here twice and enjoyed it a lot both times. Very nice people and great service. Very good food. My favorite meal is eggplant parmigiana with penne pasta. Their's is very good. The thicker slides of eggplant is refreshingly not soggy and seasoned well. The penne was very light. Not sure it is home made or not but was very good with their sauce. Garlic bread was soft and just right on the garlic and butter. I did have the Tiramisu. Again it was good and like it should be - not overly sweet. First time there on the recommendation of others. Made a reservation for Valentines Day 5 days ahead. Arrived on time. They had lost reservation. Hostess seemed to think I pulled a fast one and seated us in booth in side area near very loud kitchen (screaming when orders were up). My dinning partner mentioned that 'she hates you' as every time hostess came near table she glared at me. Background music sounded like a radio station. Unfortunate as a little traditional Greek music would have been appreciated. Our server was pleasant enough but seemed to be less experienced (wrinkled white shirt and chatter that was very casual for such upscale prices). They had a special limited menu for valentines (prices upscale) which was not mentioned to us at reservation time. I looked at the lovely main dinning area and dining near bar and we would have much preferred that. Dh enjoyed his veal. We found the side for entrees uninspired and poorly executed. I enjoy vegetables with my meals and they are extra in this restaurant. Again this was pricier than we had expected and researched. We might give them another go at early dinner hour on a not busy day if we can be seated away from the kitchen as we like white linen dinning with good service. read more

I recommend to research the menu if you aren't familiar with Italian dishes. They have many unique options. We got Tzatziki with pita bread for appetizer, the sauce was delicious. Lasagna seemed like freshly baked. Chicken Al Marsala was good, was eaten in a few minutes. I haven't gone here for about 20 years but was in the area tonight so we gave it a try. The food was very good, the cooks did a great job on the spaghetti and meat sauce and the chicken Alfredo. I give the cooks a 4-1/2. The service, on the other hand was non-existent. We waited for 15 minutes to get water and a menu. Then we waited another 10 minutes before the server came around. Her first comment was an excuse for why she left us sitting almost 30 minutes, not a good sign when the first comment is an excuse about poor service. She wanted to just take our drink order but we made her take the food order first fearing we might not see her again for awhile. There were 3 servers and the place was about 75% full on a Friday night at 7:00pm which was to be expected. The food took awhile but was worth the wait. The server never came back to check on us and when we were finished and had waited another 10 minutes with dirty dishes in front of us, I tried to flag down the bus boy to ask him to take our dishes and to get our server to bring us the bill. He just looked the other way and quickly shuffled out of our area never to return. After about another 5 minutes we got up and I went to the bar where our server was mixing drinks. She took my card, mixed another couple of drinks then said she had to go to the other side of the restaurant to print our bill. I followed her to the other register where she first cut two pieces of pie and served them before printing my bill. I signed it and left. Maybe I'll try it again in another 20 years and see if anything has changed. read more

I had not dined there in about 30 years. I decided to dine there with my mother last night. We arrived early at 4:30. I was very impressed with the decor and how clean it was. Our server (Aaron) was at our table very quickly. Our appetizer and drink arrived quickly. Our food arrived and looked delicious and was delicious. The servings were large. We had leftovers to take home. It's now my favorite "new" restaurant. I'm going to take my husband there either tomorrow night or the next. I told my son about it as well. The owner should be very proud. Also, thank you Aaron for taking such good care of us. The prices might be a little high but I didn't mind that as the other customers were mature like us and a higher priced menu helps keep out the riff raff. read more

For $26 I expected the chicken marsala to be out of this world. It was not. The price on the menu online says $21 and I was charged 26.

Little Italy is quite literally the only real Italian/Greek restaurant I've ever liked in my entire life. I did not grow up eating pasta so I'm just not accustomed to eating it in general and wouldn't go out of my way to eat anywhere other than here. The family who owns the restaurant is Greek I believe and they have a decent amount of both Italian and Greek foods. For starters, try the saganaki. You get a plate of flaming goat cheese and lemon, served with pita bread. Make sure you're prepared to say "opa!" when the flaming plate comes out! Their fettuccine Alfredo is to die for. I can not recommend it enough. If you order anything here--order the Alfredo sauce. It is literally the best Alfredo I've tried in my entire life. It's the sauce by which i judge ALL restaurants now. In fact, I have eaten at Little Italy for at least 14 years and to this day, I have never ordered anything other than Alfredo--that's how good it is. I've tried other dishes from family members, but I always come back to the Alfredo. If they could bottle it, I would be the first to buy it. I have also eaten their pizza which is the same pizza delivered by 88th Street Pizza. It's good but not anything I would write home about. Again, get the Alfredo. Did I mention, get the Alfredo? The desserts here are DELICIOUS. I'd say most everyone agrees the ekmek is very unique. It's a spongey wet cake base covered in eggy custard and thick sweetened whipped cream and a generous layer of almonds and cinnamon on top. The tiramisu is also good, and I've tried all the other desserts. They're all delicious but you won't regret trying the ekmek. The service is almost always very good here and I love the atmosphere of the restaurant. It is a relatively quiet restaurant even when it's "packed." The decor has been updated so it's much more tasteful than it was in past years, and it has a relatively decent bar and wine menu. Overall, I think it's great for a romantic date. One other thing--there was a year when we had a big snowstorm and I ordered food to go. When I got home I found out they gave me someone else's order. I was very sad especially because I was having a bad day and didn't want to risk driving in the storm again. One of the owners or family who works there literally drove to my house all the way up hillside and delivered my order to me. We got to keep the extra food. This is a small quiet Italian- Greek restaurant. We were greeted immediately upon arrival and seated. The menu offers both Italian and Greek foods. We started out with an appetizer called Saganaki. This is a robust hot cheese dish served with warm seasoned Pita bread. We followed the appetizer with a house Italian salad, it was just the right size, not too much with a rich Italian dressing, delicious. My husband chose the Chicken Alfredo with a rich creamy sauce. I chose the classic lasagna with a classic flavor, very good. My sister chose the spaghetti with meat sauce and added sautéed mushrooms. The description said it had feta cheese in the sauce but we didn't see any. We ended the meal with a classic Greek ekmek vanilla pudding dish. We were well cared for and the timing between dishes was perfect. This is a nice quiet small restaurant that I do recommend. read more

We haven't been to Little Italy in a long time, so decided to try it again. We love to support local businesses and give them as much support as we can. The food was at best mediocre for the high price. My husband's dish had very low quality seafood in it. The scallops tasted disgusting (very fishy) and the shrimp were the size and taste of cocktail shrimp. Both shrimp and scallops were hard to find amidst a plethora of noodles. My dish was better (beef ravioli). The desserts were ok, but very small portions for the price. We were seated near the kitchen, which could have been very relaxing, but ended up being very unpleasant as the cook was shouting repeatedly when orders were ready. We really couldn't settle in and immerse ourselves in any ambiance or pleasant atmosphere. The service was very good and prompt, which was appreciated. The prices were too high for what we received. Unfortunately, we likely won't return again. So sorry, Little Italy. read more

This place is my and my husbands favorite Italian restaurant in Anchorage. When my husbands father hit an unmarked water line years and years ago on a job down the street, the owner of Little Italy ran over and was willing to do anything to help so he could open for dinner time. He actually did help, got dirty, and never once had a bad attitude about it. So Alaskan!
