    Fettuccine Alfredo

Little Italy has been around for years, and we got to try it in July 2023 for my moms birthday. We had reservations for 6 on a Saturday night at 6. We were seated right away. I didn't get to see the main dining room nor the bathrooms. There was a side door propped open and we weren't sure if that was the front or not and my family was sitting right there in front of the door so in we sat. I didn't expect to see they had a cocktail menu, I will try one next time. Around $12-14. They also have a wine room but I don't really drink wine. Our server was an older guy, knew his stuff probly been around awhile. He let us know it might take awhile for the food to come out since they only had two people in the back. I think we waited around 45 minutes maybe. Not sure. I wish they had given us the bread baskets while we were waiting but it came out with our food. The bread was soft and had lots of garlic butter. I did not really like their pizza at all. We got the Margherita pizza. My first reaction was that's not the right pizza they brought lol. It has no slices of fresh mozzarella, it looked shredded. The basil was cooked in with the cheese, the crust was flavorless, the red sauce was flavorful though, and instead of fresh tomatoes it had sun dried tomato pieces. Not what I think of when I say margherita. I however got the fettuccine Alfredo with no protein. It was pretty good. Nothing id crave. Sauce was pretty good. The only pasta really with their Alfredo I think. Other sauces were marinara, bolognese, and white wine. Next time I think I would try something off the Greek side. A little dark in the place but the service was fine. Got boxes and the check in a timely manner. Just the food backed up. I will keep this place on our list and I want to try them again on a week night.

Man, I really wanted to love this place, but I just have serious reservations. Let's start with the positives: 1) Really friendly and attentive service. 2) Cute, small, Mom & Pop atmosphere. Now the negatives: 1) Reservations are pretty much required. 2) Some of the interior is in dire need of renovation. 3) The food is very mediocre and very expensive. It's the #3 that really killed it for us. I got the "Little Italy's Pizza". It was fine. It tasted like above-average delivery pizza...but it was priced at $21.95. At that price-point, it was terrible. I can name a half-dozen places that have better pizza at lower prices. The dough and sauce were just so bland, generic, and uninspired. Abbey got the eggplant parmesan and, it was the exact same story. The sauce was so bland. The dish in general was so under-seasoned. If you come here, definitely make a reservation but...I would recommend most of the other sit-down Italian restaurants in town over this one.

Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Anchorage! Very cozy restaurant, Aaron was our server and he did great! The manager seemed on top of everything going on in the front of house and had a very good sense of humor! We loved the meal and will come back soon. You will want to make a reservation to eat here. We have tried to walk in before and they were already full. I would highly recommend the cheese on fire!

Service was friendly and helpful. The food and drinks were delicious. I'm pretty sure I was in cheese heaven tonight. Very low key quiet restaurant. I sat at the bar and the couple next to me polished their plates clean as well. Looking forward to trying something different next time.

I was here once before and the food was good. I had chicken Parmesan. This time -YUCK!!! I got the same thing. The chicken was mostly breading and very overcooked. The pasta and sauce on the side was cold. It was gross. Our server (Tyler) was so odd and uncomfortable. He kept calling my sweet 8 month old granddaughter a criminal. Inappropriate Then he was saying he Haas to have a few drinks before his shift so he could talk to people. Then said he already had a lot f complaints so what's one more. He was awful. Based on this experience I would never go back or recommend it.

That being said the sauce was great. The grappa sauce had amazing flavor and the Marsala sauce also had great flavor. Plus the funghi appetizer was great with the bread. It was clear that the staff was prioritizing white customers over us, which made us feel extremely unwelcome and disrespected. As Polynesian people, we felt discriminated against. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone who values fair treatment and respect." - my sister's review. this happened to us today and this is not the first, second, OR third time this has happened! i started going to guido's in 2021 because a friend took me there. i have loved their food since so i brought in family, friends, etc. we would usually come in a big group or as a family. like every big group, we laugh, we are loud, it is a loud place in general. although loud, we are always respectful and tip well! we've rented guido's for my mom's 65th birthday party a year ago and the price they told us up front ($300) was different than what we ended up paying for. we brought our own food in, set up, cleaned everything after top to bottom, and they ended up charging us over $1k over "soft drinks". when we tried to address this with the owner, he did not return any of our calls. when we went in person to really just talk and itemize the bill, his employees would say he's not there, but we would see him walking around in the back. time after time, even with the terrible service, we would return in hopes to give them another chance. time after time, we get ignored or given passive aggressive service! they would whisper things to each other and just passes us by. we do not see this same treatment towards any white customers who are present at the time we are. also, there has been only ONE waitress who has always been kind to us and continues to be: a BLACK WOMAN. shout out to her! it's unfortunate that it has come to this because 1) i loved their food, 2) i do not like to put any businesses on blast EVER. i am understanding and want to see businesses thrive, especially longtime businesses. however, this continues to happen and this needs to be SAID.

Both are packed with flavor. Whether ordering in or ordering to go, keep in mind it takes quite a while--almost 10 to 15 mins--for the staff to make your sandwich, so I wouldn't recommend that you stop here in you're in a hurry because you're not going to get it out fast. In this case, call ahead about 30 mins or so if you're picking up. The prices are a little high, but it's worth the price for the quality of the food you're getting, which I can't say for most restaurants in the present era (2020s for those that are reading this in the 2030s and 2040s, if this platform still exists then lol!) Either way, the quality is HIGH and the flavor factor? HIGH! The Classic Piadina is very fresh tasting and comes with greens. It only comes in one size, so it's a little small for me. Still delicious! The Nonni is a pretty large sandwich, if you're getting the full sandwich. The onions combine with the meat enhances the flavors. The building that Originale is in presents itself as a very quaint and relaxed lunch spot with bright colors and large windows. It's a place you can go to sit and talk with friends. We eventually got seated, but even with the restaurant being pretty empty it still took a while before a server showed up to the table. Our server wasn't rude or anything, but the energy was just completely flat. It felt like he could not care less about being there. Sodas got refilled once the entire night. Between being seated and appetizers, and again between appetizers and our entrees, he was basically nowhere to be found. The thing that really got me was being asked if we wanted boxes while our plates were still full and we were just sitting there having a conversation, never once offering to top off our drinks until we finally asked. It's a shame because the food really was solid and the restaurant itself has a nice warm vibe to it. ORSO clearly has a lot going for it and on a different night with more attentive service it could easily be a 4 or 5 star experience. For now it's hard to rate it higher than a 3 when the service makes what should be a really nice dinner feel like an afterthought.

Our server was patient, and very pleasant, bearing in mind that one of our party was a crotchety old man. Prior to ordering, he and i arrived first, and were perusing the menu, and he was relating the items he liked, and what he planned to order. He told me he liked both Shrimp Scampi and Shrimp Sinatra. Our other 2 attendees arrived and we ordered - i got Italian Chicken, which came with Soup or Salad, and Garlic Bread. Crotchety Old Man ordered Shrimp Scampi, I'll leave out the other 2 in the party, because I'm the reviewer, and i can only give feedback on what i ate, and my experience. I got the lemon chicken soup, i did like that, it was quite a thick soup, and the citrus flavour was noticeable, but not overpowering. I did get some chunks of chicken in the soup The entrees came out relatively quickly, and IMMEDIATELY there's an issue. Crotchety Old Man announces that he ordered Shrimp Sinatra, and he does not want "that" and he was actually quite rude about it (Hence the name I've given him) the 3 of us and the server told him he had ordered Shrimp Scampi, and he was getting ruder, "Take it away, i don't care what you do with it" and the highly patient server, said she'd have a Shrimp Sinatra made for him. Honestly, I'd have walked off, hence why I'm not a server I did not wait for his entree to be served, as it was WAY past my personal dinnertime, and I'd already been hangry when i got there. Ok, so there was a huge amount of food. Mine was served on fettucine noodles, in a white wine and lemon sauce, with what appeared to be 2 chicken breasts, butterflied. Some parts of the chicken were very tender and juicy, others seemed to be quite tough. The noodles were ok, the sauce was not that creamy, and somewhat lacking. Just ok. The garlic bread - i am not a fan. I like my garlic bread to be made from scratch with real butter, and real garlic, and in my opinion this was not that. I make good garlic bread at home. And it like it made with a french baguette, aka small round slices, with liberal tiny pieces of freshly diced garlic. I rarely use garlic powder or onion powder at home. I prefer real garlic, real onion. I will say that quality beats quantity every time. Serving me a huge pile of food won't impress me. I will not take this home in a box. It's just not worth the calories. Just give me 1 butterflied chicken breast, juicy, tender, well seasoned, over an adequate portion of beautifully cooked noodles, in a perfectly creamy white wine sauce, topped with browned, finely grated Parmigiano Reggiano and my eyes will roll in my head with delight.
