I would give this place more than five stars if possible! I'm an absolute fiend for middle eastern and Mediterranean food. I grew up on gyros and when I travel, I often gravitate toward that style of cuisine. So when I say this is THE BEST chicken souvlaki I've ever had, I don't say it lightly. The chicken is extraordinarily tender and so well seasoned. The tzatziki is delicious. The sumac onion and lemon wedge are just the cherry on top. My personal preference would've been for a salad instead of fries for the platter ($26), but I also didn't ask for it, so that's on me. Dad had the spicy pork yerro ($19), and said it was "awesome." A combination of flavors you don't get often, and tasty to boot. We polished off the meal with the largest piece of baklava I've ever seen ($15). It sits in an orange blossom honey and is just as tasty as it looks. Dessert is definitely on the pricy side - we could've gotten outta there pretty reasonably without it. I'll be back to try more of the menu. Their dips look incredible and the halloumi yerro is on my must-have list. Service was decent but depended on the dining room and takeout situation since there's only one server. I loved the response I got when I called about their hours earlier. (The menu photos show a 7:30pm close while Yelp indicates 9:30.) The answer? 9-10 "depending on the meats." Hope these guys stick around because the food is incredible. Highly recommend!

I've been wanting to visit Meraki for a hot minute. I love Greek food, but convincing my husband to try food he is unfamiliar with is really, REALLY difficult- I had to wait for the right moment... vacation. When the mood was right, the sun was shining and he was feeling particularly chipper, I mapped out my plan for the the day, we'd have lunch at the "restaurant" that was in the same plaza as one of his favorite cannabis stores, and then we could spend the rest of the day paddling around on a south side like while he was in a blissful haze. That sounded like a good plan to him when presented without the detail that the restaurant was food foreign to him - that I knew he would like if I could just get him to try it. Fast forward - The ambiance was sunny and casual, perfect. My husband wouldn't be inclined to complain about it being uninviting. And we were greeted by the most pleasant gentleman who was both our host and server. He made some suggestions, all but one turned out to be perfect. The mixed meat platter absolutely floored my husband. He LOVED pork in particular. The zucchini balls were terrible- neither of us liked them. But the tray of sauces was really excellent as well. The service was so great and the food was wonderful. It was soooo much food, we couldn't finish it all. The potatoes on the meat tray we so tasty as well. Everything was well seasoned. Definitely recommend.

Authentic, locally owned, high quality Greek food, I have nothing but good things to say about Meraki Grill. The special Greek dip was a perfect appetizer to a hearty, healthy, and tasty wrap. The staff was attentive, food arrived quickly, and the attention to detail in the quality of food and decor of the space was perfect. I will be back!

Chicken yerros and roasted eggplant dip, pita bread with salad
    Laura W.

This is a new restaurant that has opened up very near to my house and I have been wanting to try and I finally got to try it yesterday. I placed a pick up order for the chicken yerros it came with a large cucumber salad, carrot, lettuce, salad & sauce/dressing. And I also ordered the roasted eggplant dip with pita bread. And I was not disappointed first of all the portions were phenomenal. this homeo lasted me from what would be called lunch into dinner and some of my teenagers ate some of the pita bread as well. The seasoned chicken and veggies were a perfect combination of flavors. The roasted eggplant was probably my favorite. I love onion and garlic the more the better! I'm not too sure if they make their breads in house but it was delicious. The only negative thing for me with my meal was the sauce or salad dressing. It was just two vinegary for me, so I know next time and there will be a next time I will request tzatziki sauce as a sub. The inside looks quite nice. There was quite a few people at the tables and people picking up order so I can tell this is becoming a popular spot. Looking forward to trying different plates from here in the near future.

    Chicken yurro with side salad
    Carrie G.

Today I got the chicken Yurro. This thing was huge! Came with a side salad. The salad was just lettuce, tomato and cucumber. Not a Greek salad which I would have liked. The yurro had lots and lots of chicken, some kind of sauce, lettuce, tomato, red onion and some fries inside. It was pretty good!!

I went here for lunch with a friend today. Meraki Hellenic Grill is located off of Old Seward Hwy past Huffman going towards DeArmoun Rd. It is housed in an unassuming strip mall next to the Southside Grill. The interior of the dining area is small but clean and spotless, with Greek-themed decor displayed on the walls. The manager of the restaurant, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly but very busy as he was the only one serving orders to the diners. This would explain the "Help Wanted" sign on the front door needing a waiter-waitress. We took a table against the wall at the back of the restaurant which gave us a clear view of the dining area. The menu is short but versatile with specials on dishes written on a small blackboard that change often. For the appetizer, we picked Dolmades (grape leaves stuffed with rice and spices) which was listed as one of the specials. They were gone in a few minutes as soon as it arrived at our table. The Dolmades were covered with olive oil and parsley on the side. A large slice of lemon was also provided for added flavor. Absolutely delicious. For the main dishes, I decided to order the Doner Kebab Yerro, probably more recognizable when spelled "gyro" (lamb/beef mixture with onions, tomatoes, tzatziki, parsley, and fries wrapped in a pita). Honestly, this has got to be the best Yerro I've had in recent memory. There is a slab of meat on display (Halal?) behind the register that reminds me of the Middle Eastern markets I've seen in New York City. The meat was sliced from this display and was so tender and flavorful. The tzatzkiki sauce and the thin sliced fries were outstanding complements to the pita. The salad on the side was also delicious with their homemade balsamic dressing. My friend ordered the Pork Yerro and said that this was amazing. The pork was roasted traditional spitfire style and reminded me of sliced pork belly. Normally, I would eat entrees and there would still be enough for a second meal. Not this time. Both of us ate everything that was set in front of us. I am still thinking about the meal as I type this review. That's how incredible the food was. However, what really made the experience memorable and stand out for us was the owner/manager himself. Being short-handed without waitstaff, he was the only one to serve everyone during the lunch rush and worked so hard but remained friendly. Upon leaving, he was having technical problems with the computerized register at the front counter. He was unable to close out our check after trying to ring up the transaction. He had no luck and told us not to worry about it. After having such a great meal and seeing how he worked so hard in the dining room, I would've felt bad to leave without paying. We flat out refused and asked how much the bill was. He said it was $30 for the meals and the appetizers, we gave him $40 and told him to keep the change. I hope he gets the register fixed soon as I don't think the other diners realized that the poor guy could not ring up the checks for those on the way out. It's individuals like this that encourage me to support this restaurant and send the word out to everyone about this place.

Very fresh! Very Mediterranean! Very OPA!! Highly recommend the kebab dish with the lamb and beef meat. The chicken platter, my goodness also fantastic. This is a small intimate type place, great for a date or a small group. Service was attentive. Looking forward to trying dessert next time!! I was stuffed!

Real rating: 4.5/5 The place is small, only less than 10 tables but it neat and nice looking. There was one server and she was very nice. We didn't have to wait too long for our food. The food was really good. The Hellenic Mix Grill platter was huge ($49) can definitely be shared between 2 people. It had the 3 types of meat: chicken, pork and lamb/beef. The meats sat on top of thin steak fries, which was nice because they crisped up due to the thinness. The pita bread was fluffy and delicious. Everything was seasoned well, except my hubby thinks the chicken could've had a bit more "oomph". I appreciate that it wasn't dry and it tasted fresh. I'm also a sucker for a good Tatziki and they had pretty good tatziki. We had to ask for another one since the one they came with the platter was not enough. Overall, love the food and would come back again especially if I'm craving some delicious Greek food.

Can't remember the name of this, just that it's really good!

The yerros are bursting and delicious! The salads are crisp and flavorful! The setting is quiet, clean, and comfortable. Thanks for being open and serving great foods with a friendly smile. We love this lil' place that popped up in our south-end neighborhood.

After another about a year hiatus we finally have the best Greek food in town back in our lives! Meraki has no moved from the east side to the southside & are located in a strip mall in the Huffman area. If y'all can remember this restaurant was originally located in Eagle River (personally this was my favorite location since that's where I live haha) & closed down during 2021. They again have their own storefront, and this one has a decent amount of seating for in house dining. It also seems like they've decide to undergo a name change to Meraki Afrah from Meraki Hellenic Grill. While they have a new name & a new location the food is the same excellent & delicious. Lucky for me I'm in the Huffman area at least once a week so I was able to order take out in one of the first few weeks of their reopening. One of the owners answered the phone & she's always very helpful & kind. My food was ready fairly quickly as well. I ordered a pork yerro & tyrokafteri (spicy feta dip). The yerro was packed with meat, veggies & my favorite a few French fries. It comes with a nice side salad so you get the best of both worlds. The dip was so flavorful. I love tyrokafteri & this one definitely packs a good amount of spice & tons of feta cheese. It's $15, but it's also a good sized portion from the photo you can see it's packed in a large dip container so it is portioned out. Fun fact gyros in Greece are either pork or chicken. A lamb or lamb & beef mixture would actually be referred to as doner kebab, which Meraki serves some times as a special. There's only a handful of restaurants that use a vertical rotisserie & stack their own meat for their gyros/doner kebab/shawrma & Meraki is one of them. A lot of places serve pre packaged emulsified kebab meat like you would find at Costco or Freddie's. So when you order a meal from here you're getting the real deal, hand shaved meat. This is definitely my favorite spot for Greek food in town, and I highly recommend you give them a try. For a sit down meal down skip out on the grilled octopus or calamaraki!

Meraki Grill - A Hidden Gem! Wow! It's been a long time since I've had food this delicious. We ordered the grill for $45, and it was easily enough for two--plus leftovers! The chicken could've used a bit more flavor, but the other meats were absolutely fantastic. The tomatoes, peppers, onions, and fries were all incredibly tasty. While we were eating, two other customers even stood up to congratulate the chef! Service was excellent--the hostess was beyond kind, and our server was professional and reserved. The restaurant is small but cozy. This is officially my new favorite spot in the south area--I'll definitely be back!

    Pork Yerros
    Lucas K.

I went here with a few co-workers for lunch. Initially I was a little concerned as it was quiet, but by the time we left, it was quite busy. I went with the Pork Yerros. Which is sliced spit fired pork built on grilled pita, tzatziki, onions, tomatoes, and fries inside. The last couple times I've had gyros, they've had fries in them and I'm beginning to be a fan. This gyro was stuffed with pork and the tzatziki tasted great. It was a perfect balance of flavors. The salad tasted great as well. My only complaint is that there wasn't a similar gyro with lamb. However, that wouldn't stop me from coming back. The service was great as well. There are several items on the menu I wouldn't mind trying in the future. If you're in the mood for greek food, you won't be disappointed with Meraki Hellenic Grill.

I can't believe this Greek food gem has been in South Anchorage for two years and I'm just discovering it. It's family-owned and operated by a lovely Greek family who cooks using their grandmother's recipes, which makes every dish feel special. The food is outstanding--authentic, comforting, and full of flavor.

The gyro was perfect, the potatoes and salad were delicious, and the custard dessert was out of this world. The service here is outstanding. It feels like getting lunch or dinner from your own Greek Papou. They are incredibly generous and welcoming, which makes the whole experience so special. To the people complaining about the prices: anyone who's been in Alaska knows that sourcing and buying quality food here is expensive for both restaurants and customers. The prices here are VERY fair for the quality and portion sizes you get. Yes, the restaurant is obviously small and tucked away in a little aged strip mall, but that is part of its charm. If you want authentic, incredible Greek food made with love, come here. Tip: If seating is tight, just get it to-go! We will absolutely be back.

As we were driving by, we noticed Antonio's and decided to stop in. From the outside--and even when we first walked in--the place was completely unassuming. To be candid, it looked a little worn around the edges. If you're someone who judges a restaurant by its appearance, you might keep driving. That would be a mistake. What followed was one of the culinary highlights of our entire trip to Alaska. We ordered a couple of items, but the owner insisted we try several additional dishes. As vegetarians, we're often limited when exploring new cuisines, but not here. Every plate that arrived was fresh, flavorful, and made with obvious care. The experience was a revelation. It made me realize that I've probably never had authentic Greek food before. The Greek dishes I've had from chain restaurants, food courts, and grocery store offerings don't even belong in the same conversation. The ingredients tasted fresher, the flavors were more vibrant, and every bite felt like it came from a family recipe rather than a corporate kitchen. What elevated the meal even further was the owner himself. He spent time talking with us, sharing how he ended up in Alaska and telling stories about his journey. It felt less like dining at a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone's home. I've traveled extensively and eaten at restaurants across the country, and I can confidently say Anchorage is fortunate to have a place like this. Antonio's isn't just a restaurant--it's the kind of hidden gem that deserves national attention. Frankly, it belongs on a travel or food television show. If you're in Anchorage, do yourself a favor: ignore appearances, walk through the door, and trust the food.

The family that owns and operates this gem is Greek and they are not only amazing cooks, but they care about their community!! I have been there eating several times this winter and obviously homeless people would come to the door and be given water, hot soup, half a sandwich, etc. that just made me love this place more. Now to the food. First of all I had the meatball sub which was not only delicious but super filling. The meat was very well seasoned, and the fresh basil just made the marinara pop even more, add the freshly shaved Parmesan cheese and you've got something special. The homemade bread puts this thing into overdrive! Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. This in my opinion is the perfect pairing to the meatball sub. You're welcome! The customer service here is amazing too just like the owners and the food. You will always be greeted by a smiling face, and treated like family. You will not regret stopping here. I've eaten the Meatball sub, The Philly, the lasagna and The Gyro ( lamb and chicken) all have been 10 out of 10. The ambiance is like a neighborhood dinner with a small dining room. Organic Oasis had some great reviews and the two in my party were semi-vegetarians. There were 6 other people in the room. The menu was well laid out and had great options for the meat challenged. We ordered our lunch at 1130. We were served water and then we waited... and waited. At 1230, we debated on leaving when I finally asked the hostess if she knew how much longer it would be, her response was curt and short, "they just started it." We thought it was odd that with so few in the room, the meal was just started nearly an hour after ordering. At 1250 the meal arrived. We had ordered the protein plate, a Thai salad and a turkey sandwich. The protein plate had an unseasoned burger patty that was crispy on the outside and raw on the inside and the steamed vegetables were barely cooked with the carrots still having the peels on them, the Thai plate had zero sauce. The turkey sandwich was exceptional, I opted for no cheese and added avocado. At 115, I went to the counter and the hostess looked very weary and asked what I wanted when the phone rang. She picked it up and immediately hung it back up without answering, then took the receiver off the phone. I said I would like to pay my bill. At this point, the hostess turned to the waiter who had been waiting on us saying, "these are yours." Three meals, only the sandwich was edible, came to $75. Wow. Menu changes have been for the worse. Today when we arrived we waited for 10 minutes before I had to walk up to the front and ask for menus. The menus were very dirty and we felt gross even touching them. Then we waited another 10 minutes for the server. I don't blame the server for being understaffed, but at least some communication that we were not totally forgotten would have been helpful. The soup tasted good, but it was cold, which was disappointing. I got the Thai bowl, and it was mostly all cabbage and carrots with a few random mint leafs. It used to have an assortment of veggies and tempeh that was delicious. Now it only has a small serving of undercooked tofu and very little dressing or quinoa even. My favorite used to be the vegan high protein bowl and the Hungarian mushroom soup. Both have changed so much and are not good anymore. The soup is runny and oily now instead of creamy. The VHP is missing all of the ingredients that made it amazing in the first place and now is more like a basic salad. I am very disappointed as this used to be my favorite place to eat in Anchorage. I just want it to go back to how it used to be.
