Crispy on the outside, light, delicate but not falling apart and heavy enough to hold together all that deliciousness without being filling like you just ate a large pizza. Now to the ridiculous tomato basil soup. I love the clam chowder but the tomato basil is my favorite. Savory, full of flavor, smooth, creamy and not greasy. So me being Gluten-Free I felt pretty safe with him because he knows what to watch out for and is very honest with his opinions and if in doubt he will find out. The menu does point out with a GF next to the menu items that are definitely gluten-free. But it never hurts the ask your server if the chef would make exceptions or adjustments to other dishes. I wanted the "Roasted Oysters" $23 but it did not have a "GF" next to it like the fresh oysters did and Matt went to go check to make sure & see if anything could be done. He found out that it could not be adjusted for gluten-free allergies as they use Panko crumbs in the recipe. Boo! Anyway, Matt then suggested the "Steamed Clams & Mussels" for $18 and that was a very good suggestion. They were very tasty & a little spicy. So if you don't like spice, this isn't the dish for you. I would've liked a little less heat, but it was still tasty nonetheless. We ordered the mocktails and I got the "Shake your Tree" and my husband got the "Coconut Watermelon Cooler", at $8 ea. my husband said his was OK. He expected more coconut flavor leaning to piña colada type of drink, but this was not that and had a very watermelon after note. I didn't like it much but my "Shake your tree" drink was very pleasant, refreshing and definitely tasted like pineapple with the sugar around the rim of the glass. Wish they made a bigger glass of it. To the point I got two! lol. My husband ordered the "Seafood Chowder" by the cup rather than the bowl at $6 he also ate the three pieces of bread that they brought to the table. and of course, I can't have any. He ordered the "Special Ribeye Steak" from the "tonight's specials" menu at $59 for a 14 ounce cut topped with chimichurri; served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes and fresh vegetables. The steak was cooked too perfection at medium and very tender, juicy and flavorful. My husband felt that he didn't have enough mashed potatoes because he finished that and the fresh vegetables which were carrots, broccoli and cauliflower steamed well before he made it through his steak. I had the 1/2 Rack Center Cut Lamb (GF) grilled and topped with cherry-garlic sauce & served with Yukon Gold mashed potatoes with skin in and fresh steamed vegetables, broccoli, cauliflower, and carrots for $36. My lamb was also cooked to perfection of medium and was very juicy, flavorful and tender. Our server was on point with everything as usual! I received the crème brûlée for my birthday dish, and my husband got the carrot cake with I believe a side of whipped cream. The crème brûlée was very good and tasty. The bowl sat on a plate of chocolate and raspberry sauce. I had to scrape that up to eat it with my crème brûlée, which was a little different as you don't get much. It would've been better how they put it maybe in a dish of its own on the side so you can dip it in there or decorate the top of the crème brûlée it . Either way I finished it. It was good. My husband said the carrot cake was very moist and flavorful and he ate it all. The place wasn't very loud as we got there at the beginning of dinner when they opened. so there was a walk-in group of about 15 people and another couple there with us at the beginning. So the atmosphere was pretty quiet started getting louder before we left at about 6 PM. The damage was to the tune of $153. Not bad for what we got. We both left very full, satisfied and we will return. Shout out to Matt K. For doing what he does best when it comes to good customer service. Did spots and crumbs in the corner of my booth that were missed clearly from the night cleanup crew as we were the first ones for the day in that booth. Midnight Sun Brewing is one of the Alaskan ones I tried a while back and I felt that the beer I had was very solid and enjoyable. In fact Alaska in general thus far I have enjoyed the breweries there considerably. The beer I had from this brewery was the Panty Peeler which is a Belgian Tripel. A good beer for sure and is a good pairing with fish and chips or a burger. Flavor highlights with this beer are sweet, strong and fruity but all in a well balanced way. The beer goes down smooth and is light bodied. A good beer to start for me with this brewery. I'd loved to try more of their beer options. Love the brewery's swag and have a t-shirt or two and would love to score a hoodie that I had my eye on but it was out of stock so I'll try back later.

Twiddling our fingers. By 20 minutes I'm becoming impatient, because I'm hangry, and the dining room is not that full - maybe 5 tables. As there are 4 staff working behind the counter (could be more round the back in the bakery) I think service could be faster, to dish up a bowl of premade soup, and assemble a cold tuna salad sandwich. Anyway i get my eye on the young man making sandwiches. He's not wearing gloves, is running his fingers through his hair, and touching his face. By 1.02, (26 minutes later) husband could take it no more and went to get a refund. This is not the review I expected to be leaving today, as I've never had service like this here before. Maybe more spice, or more kimchi? Bacon? I couldn't tell what it was that was missing but I've tried many versions of this in Hawaii and it was blander than those. The Kalbi beef wasn't ribs! I was disappointed, it was just like shaved beef. Egg was good. Everything not bad, but in my opinion could have been better. Husband tried the kimchirito, or kimchi burrito. He said it was fine, enjoyed it but won't seek it out again due to the off-the-wall fusion of flavors. He did say it was nice to be able to sit at the bar and have a cold beer while he waited for our take out order. Our child tried an order of gyoza which were great! She also liked the seasoned tater tots that came with her dad's burrito. Might come back to try the actual Kalbi rib plate.
