When a location formerly home to Harrison's Tavern became available, the Pipolo family acquired it with the intention of turning it into an authentic Italian restaurant. The whole building was completely redesigned to resembled a trattoria in an Italian mountain village. Basso became a full Pipolo family endeavor. Even the grandchildren can be seen greeting guests and bussing tables from time to time. After looking over the menu, my wife and I decided to start out with some cocktails. I had the "Limoncello Spritzer" while she had the "Peach Berry Pink Sangria". Both were very refreshing! We obviously can't say with certainty that the subs were the cause, and I don't want to make an accusation we can't prove. However, the fact that we both experienced stomach issues after eating the same meal was concerning enough that I feel it's worth mentioning. Afterward, we took a closer look at what was left of the sandwiches, and the overall quality and freshness of some of the ingredients left us questioning what we had eaten. Unfortunately, between the chewy, stale-tasting bread, paper-thin toppings, complete lack of condiments and seasoning, and both of us feeling ill afterward, Gagliano's was a major disappointment.
