I researched a lot of moving companies for moving a 1 bedroom into a storage unit; Anton's was fairly priced for 4 men and a 26 foot truck compared to other movers. I am very happy I decided to move forward with Anton's. They were professional and responded quickly to my questions either via email or phone prior to the move. Phillip and his team were great to work with; they arrived on time and provided great customer service. Since my belongings would be going into a storage unit we went over the best way to store my furniture and save money (using blankets vs. wrapping). I also had some left over boxes that they used instead of charging me for using their boxes. I appreciated that since this was my first time using movers and it showed me that they weren't all about making money and cared about their customers. They were careful with all of my furniture and belongings throughout the whole moving process. I was very impressed with how quickly everything was moved and will use them again in the future. I chose Anton's based on a referral, ease of getting a quote, their website allows you to see your confirmation at anytime, and they have very competitive rates. If I could give 10 stars I would! They arrived about an hour early but called me to ask if that was ok which it certainly was. The two movers (Ivan & his partner) were very professional, polite, took extreme care with wrapping & taping everything, took doors off & on to get large stuff out in a flash, set everything up in the new house exactly where I wanted it, were mind blowing fast, and left no trace that they were ever there. Right from reservation, mobile friendly apps, flat rates, not bugging you over the phone, no cheap tricks, friendly staff and EXCELLENT movers. I quoted Anton's but then went with another mover-BIG Mistake! I had to call Anton's in a panic for them to finish what the other movers couldn't complete. Within an hour I had three movers hustling and making stuff happen. They were nothing short of INCREDIBLE. I used Anton's for part of a long distance move. They moved me out of my 1br+den and in to a 28' trailer. The load into the trailer was critical since I would be charged per foot used, so I needed an experienced mover who could build a tight stack. Jumped on Yelp and saw Anton's. I used their website to get a quote and they called me within 15 minutes to schedule the move! Three guys were sent for the job with their 20' truck. We had packed everything up ahead of time so they didn't have to waste any time. And they didn't waste a second, the whole apartment was loaded in to the truck in under two hours. Drove on down to West Bridgewater and the ABF facility. They backed the truck right up to the trailer and went back to work. These guys flew, so impressive! They were able to condense everything in to just 12' of trailer space, right on what we had estimated. A few things that made my move so much smoother: - Even for one way long distance moves, you can rent moving blankets from UHaul. And they are WAY cheaper vs buying them. The movers love these things, they will mummify your furniture and other fragile pieces to make sure they don't get nicked. Additionally, rent a LOT more than you expect to use. UHaul will let you return what you don't use up front. - Pro movers do not like the tape and stretch wrap we bought at Home Depot. Their stuff seems more durable and commercial grade. Good for your own packing needs but don't buy a lot extra. - Buy 2-3 of those strap tie down things, they are so worth it and the movers love them. Don't bother with rope. - Bring a few of these rented moving blankets WITH YOU when going to the ABF facility to load the trailer. The guys were looking for something to fill a gap in the stack and could have used these. Since I did not bring them to the ABF facility, I ended up having to buy a few blankets from Anton's instead. Not terrible but could have been avoided if I had planned better! Now my stuff is en route to Texas. Will update if needed after I complete the move on the other end, but based on my experience with Anton's I don't forsee any issues. I have moved using professionals five times and these guys were by far and away the BEST movers I have used so far. If I end up back in the Boston area I am using them again, no question. read more

I had Anton's move me this last weekend. I am EXTREMELY happy with the service. The guys showed up on time and once they started, they were extremely efficient. They took care of my items, made sure they were wrapped appropriately. My concern with hourly movers is always people standing around milking the clock. You do NOT get that with Anton's. Before they started, we reviewed pricing. When we unloaded at the new place, we reviewed the pricing once again and there were NO surprise charges at the end. Price was exactly as we discussed. So the positives: When i spoke to them on the phone - they were very responsive. They also called up the day before and confirmed the time of arrival also. On the day of the move - they were on time, and worked fast and well. All in all did a good job of packing and moving things. Very pleasant and generally diligent. Now the piece that was not good When I called them - whoever i spoke to was asked me a few questions about what I had and where I as moving to and gave me a quote for 4-6 hours at 4 men at 140 per hour. When I asked him if this was going to be enough he said yes - I told him that we needed help packing also (given we had kids and didn't have time to pack). The guy said that should be no problem and maybe a couple of hours. he also underestimated the size of the truck required. When the guys showed up - they said this was an underestimation and said it was going to be more like 10 hours and added a fourth guy - at 20 bucks more. Finally - it worked out to twice the cost of the initial quote. Which left a bad taste for me because if I had know it was going to take this much time and cost, i would have shopped for more quotes or done some more packing myself. This has happened to me before also when I moved from the SF Bay Area to Boston - not with Anton's mind you but another moving company - when the final cost of moving was significantly higher than the estimate given - i almost feel like all of the movers have refined this to an art - quote low but charge really really high finally and then leave the customer with no choice. I only moved from Bedford Ma to Newton Ma - but. this cost me almost half of the price to move from Ca to here! So advice to all - PRESS HARD on the Estimates - get them to come home and do an estimate! and not just by phone. read more

This is my third time using Anton's. Each experience has been pleasant! My movers this time -- Vova and Denz (hopefully I did not misspell the names!) -- are wonderful. They arrived on time and even though my landlady requested a bed be moved elsewhere, they did the job efficiently, without complaint whatsoever. In addition, my bed frame was too large to enter the apt door directly, so they disassembled it at the door front and reassembled the whole bed once it was moved into the apt, in probably less than 20 mins. I have used them twice in the last several months - the first time to unload the contents of a full moving truck into storage, and the second time to move us out of storage and into our new home. Both experiences were as good as moving gets. The first time around we had several unexpected schedule changes due to a delay in the arrival of our moving truck. Anton's was extremely accommodating in moving the date of our move several times. Communication from the office was great, from confirming the details of the move the day before, to letting us know when the crew was en route and keeping us updated with their ETA. They arrived right on time for both moves. The crews that came were professional, efficient, and handled all of our belongings with care. Excellent service! I have used Anton's company twice to move in between Boston and New York, I think they are the best moving service in the area. The website was easy to use and I scheduled the same day move-in a week ahead. The movers are on-time, communicative and professional. It only took about an hour to move everything out/in. After they moved everything out I had a situation where my flight was delayed and I couldn't be at the new apartment on time - the workers were really accommodative and communicated with the manager and me timely to ensure that everything goes smoothly, eventually I arrived a few hours late but everything has been set up perfectly in the apartment according to my instructions. Great No Frills Moving Experience I say no frills because we wanted to use them for as little as possible to save money. They definitely understood what I was looking for because when they arrived we had most of our things boxed or bubble wrapped and by the door. We had also broken down the bed frame ourselves, so I really can't blame them for not offering to set it up for us (not a big deal). Also, after they left I noticed that the turn switch on one of our halogen lamps was bent and no longer works. The lamp itself still works so it's not the end of the world. I'm sure they are able to provide a more full service experience for people who don't mind them taking a bit longer. Our Move: I called them three days before our move, because our new apartment was vacant a week early and we had moved the bulk of our things with the help of family and friends. I found a coupon on Yelp and overall the reviews were very positive, when I called the person I spoke to was friendly and professional. He clearly explained the rates and time frames, and seemed genuinely happy I had a coupon. I told him all we had to move was a couch, and a large dresser. I also explained that the stairs were curved and narrow so it might be hard to get some things in. Besides that I told him that the apartment was actually a split level, and the dresser would need to go up an additional flight. I was bracing myself for the additional charges and fees, but I was pleasantly surprised to hear there were none. The day before the move Anton's called to ask if with the impending snow storm coming if it would better to start a little earlier, so we'd have better weather to move in. I told him that would be great, and that because of the weather we didn't get as much done as we wanted and there would be more stuff to move. They were very accommodating with the last minute switch. On moving day they called to let me know they were on they're way, and i happened to be outside when they pulled up or should I say backed up. When they realized we lived on a one-way street, they proceeded to back up the entire length of our very narrow street with cars parked on each side in their 15ft. box truck. To their credit they managed to pull it of (thankfully). At that point I was a bit skeptical, but they introduced themselves and got to work right away. They were extremely fast and organized, and even though I could tell by their faces it was a lot more stuff than they had anticipated, and the weather was awful they didn't let it affect them. Even though our cat spent both legs of the move locked in the bathroom and wailing. I expected to be waiting for them at our new place, but they actually got there before me! I showed them the front and back stairs from the ground level, as well as the stairs to the third floor. I explained that I didn't think the couch would fit, and that we could store it in the garage. They went the extra mile with the couch and all the bigger pieces, they measured and actually took time to think it through before saying no. Several times they made multiple trips up with the same piece until they either got it in, or were certain it couldn't fit. While all this was going on I was trying to take apart the bed frame that wouldn't fit up the stairs. They saw that I was struggling and helped me get everything apart and up the stairs. Ultimately, the couch and one of the dressers couldn't make it up the stairs (which I had expected), they stored it in the garage and took care to put it in the best possible place. After all of that they were still done in exactly two hours, they clearly explained all the charges. At that point I realized that the coupon I had was somewhere in the pile in one of my bags; however they let me just show it to them on my phone. The total including discount and tip was $295, which I thought was really reasonable. I asked them there names (Anton & Anton aka Tony), but they said neither of them were "THE ANTON", and that most people who worked there were either Tony or Anton lol. I originally chose this moving company after doing extensive research, calling other companies in the area to get quotes, and then chose based off the high yelp ratings and reviews. Maybe I had an off day, who knows, but I thought they were about average. The reservation process was easy. I did have a few questions in advance that I called, but no one answered. However, they responded quickly via email. I did have to get a mover's permit, which was annoying & in hindsight a waste of $ because no one on my street paid attention to it! I literally had to stand outside for over an hour (because the movers were late) on the day of my move blocking people from parking at the spots where my permit was. Oh well, that's not an issue with the movers, more just the locals in the area. Anyways, the night before my move, the company called me asking to push my move time from 9 am to 10 am, which was fine with me. Then the day of my move, I noticed the street was blocked off for a 10k race. I panicked! Called them & they were flexible and changed the time to 12, which was nice. Well, they didn't show up until 1 pm because they were running late. 2 guys came, don't know their names. The shorter guy was in charge and told me I'm paying for the 15 min travel time from their office in Newton and the 55 min travel time from where I was moving out of state back to their office. I was confused because I didn't understand if this was in addition to the quote or included in it. Well, this guy had a bit of an attitude. He was like "I know he called & explained this to you." I was like no one called me, I just booked it online. He was like "well you should've read the reservation online then and know this." (Well it did say this on the online reservation, but I didn't appreciate his attitude. This travel time fees were included in the online quote.) They quickly moved my stuff & left by 1:45 pm. Their travel time was estimated at 1 hour, but they got to my new place around 3:30 pm. A bookshelf broke and a full length mirror is missing. Oh well. They gave a 15 minute (not 15$) discount for the broken bookshelf. No discount for missing mirror, but that's ok because I was considering throwing it away. I did appreciate how they wrapped up my stuff in blankets and duct tape. They charged like 8 bucks for the duct tape rolls lol. At my new place, my boyfriend met them. After they unloaded my stuff it was 4 pm, and the guy in charge calculated the total at $475, which didn't make sense because I was quoted at $100/hour, and I also had the Yelp coupon and I had the 15 minute discount for the broken bookshelf. We questioned how they came up with this total. Then he recalculated and with the coupon and discount, the total was $330. I don't know if he miscalculated or tried to charge us more. Also, pay in cash to avoid the service fee. Overall, I thought they were okay and did a decent job moving my stuff. read more

Would not recommend. I had a 4p appointment and did not get a call from them until 4:40p to tell me that they just finished a job and were 20 minutes away. An hour later, I get a call saying that they are coming from Framingham and would get to me in 45 minutes. No apology offered or anything. Bad customer service. read more

I used the online tool to set up a move. When the mover called to confirm, he told me to be there at 3PM. The web confirmation said the ETA was 2-4PM. When at 4:15 no one had arrived, I called them and no one picked up. Tried calling again around 4:40 and then gave up. Around 5PM someone finally called me back, and after making a few calls, let me know that the truck should be there in another half hour or so. I canceled the job--the inconvenience of the whole experience was enough to convince me that I'd rather go elsewhere and get better service. read more

The movers arrived about 45minutes late, but seemed ready to do the job despite bad weather. We were happy with how quickly they were able to move our furniture from a second floor two bedroom into the van. We gave them a hefty tip for how hard they worked. After a few days, we realized that a lot of our furniture had scratches and dings due to being packed in the top of the van. Another surprise was a $50 ticket from the city of Somerville for the AC unit belonging to the moving guys that was discarded at our old apartment. Despite ten or more calls to their office and claims that the check was in the mail, they have been unresponsive to their mistake. If you want cheap, Anton's is a good bet. But, beware of the consequences and don't tip. read more
