I visited a friend the other day and stopped in to Petco with her. I'm not from the area and am a…read morebig fan of tarantulas and regardless of what pet store I'm at I usually gravitate to them. So I see they have a handful of tarantulas and I want to get one. I flagged down an employee who sed only the manger could help me with the animal. Ok never had that problem anywhere else but ok. So he says he'll be right with me... we wander and wait for almost 20 min. Manager comes over and says I see you're interested in getting one of our tarantulas. I say yes and he proceeds to say "unfortunately we are done selling animals for the night and that I'd have to come back tomorrow". I literally was like are you joking?! He sed no I'm not I just used the last of my time to help someone with a hamster and I have to tend to the animals in the back befor I run out of time. It was only 7:15pm. They close at 9pm. I asked if someone else could help me. He sed no because no one there is trained to handle the animals. (I've quite literally purchased animals 10 min before closing and someone anyone has always helped me) I asked if I could purchase the tarantula and then retrieve it on my own if they unlocked and gave me a box he sed "Sorry no we don't allow that" (Again I've done it befor multiple times-sometimes because an employee was terrified of touching the spiders) So I leave annoyed and confused and kinda ticked off that I waited when I was told I was gonna be helped. Didnt think I was gonna be back the next day but there I was picking up dog food bright and early with my friend and we stop in again. I walk up to Franco and ask if he could help me out with the purchase of an animal. "No problem" he says. Another employee helps me with filling out paperwork and Franco asks if I have the proper set up. I let him know I'm a keeper of Ts as I call them and he lets me know he's the general manager. So I ask him some questions regarding the day before. I told him it would've taken not even 5 mins to collect the tarantula cause at that very moment the employee who helped me with paper work came back in less than 5min with the T I requested and sed she was so calm and cooperative. He apologized for the employees rudeness and lack of customer service aswell as for me having to come all the way back out (I live near west la). Franco was a pleasant delight and cause of him I WILL be back! :) (FYI THE STARS ARE FOR FRANCO! )

I wish the online app gave better inventory because I would've made that same order elsewhere. Now I have to place another order soon to make sure my turtle has food before he hibernates for the winter. They have all kinds of things for many different pets but I didn't wonder around. Customer service is bad. I tried to buy some goldfish there yesterday and the person helping me…read moresaid she could not sell them to me if I had any other tropical fish in the tank. The goldfish will kill them, they are too aggressive. I told her all I had were Goldfish in my 20 gallon aquarium. She then asked me how many do I have now? I said one. She told me that's good enough, I should have only one fish in my 20 gallon aquarium. I told I just wanted to get three more, so you're telling me I need to have an 80 gallon aquarium for four goldfish? She said yes. I then said the tanks you have here are a lot smaller than mine and you have way more fish in each aquarium than just four. She then said I'm not going to argue with you, so I'm going to remove myself from this conversation and she just walked away. Obviously, she has no idea what she's talking about and I will never buy another goldfish or any fish for that matter from Petsmart ever again. They just lost a longtime customer. Awesome reptile shop located decently close by my work place so I can swing by if I'm in need of…read morefeeders and don't wanna go to a major pet shop retailer. There's street parking and some private parking lots nearby. Staff is super friendly and helpful and they have a good selection of reptiles as well as some invertebrates (tarantulas and jumping spiders). I got to see a large tegu there and based on the enclosure and pictures, it seems that the owner has a rhino iguana! Neat! Lots of bearded dragons of varying ages and morphs are available. They have leopard geckos, tortoises, and ball pythons, of course. Also in various ages and morphs. There was also a blue tongue skink that I was eyeing and considering...very fairly priced too! They also have some reptiles you don't commonly see either such as Tokay geckos, various chameleons, tree frogs and dart frogs, Giant Day geckos, and some beautiful melanistic jeweled lacerta lizards! Based on pictures on Yelp they've had uromastyx and fire belly skinks too. I believe I got a chance to speak to the owner and he's super friendly and knows his stuff. They've had crocodile skinks too! One of the few places nearby that sells silk worms as feeders ($1.50 each, great treat feeder) and have fair prices for their other feeders as well ($1 - 12-15 crickets depending on size, etc.). I got some silk worms, super worms, and crickets, but they also have mice/pinkie feeders, meal worms, dubias, wax worms, etc. I gotta say that their super worms are very SUPER. Huge and juicy, definitely more sizeable than the ones I get online. I can see that there's oats and corn in their food/substrate too so you know they're nicely gut loaded. They take Zelle here too and they do TikTok lives for their social media. My new go to spot for some treats for my beardie son, Sambal and I'm keeping an eye on their social media if some new cool herps come in!

If your posted hours say 12, customers should be able to expect you to actually be open at 12. The customer service was also unpleasant.
