I took my dog here yesterday and to be honest I was a little apprehensive because of the previous reviews, but I thought "oh what the heck, she can't be that bad and my dog is a small mini poodle". I took my dog in for an appointment at 10 and Anna (the shop owner) was there with her assistant when I walked in. At first, the cold stare that the assistant gave me was a little off putting, but I shook it off quickly once Anna introduced herself to me and asked what style I wanted for my dog. I then asked her if I could get a puppy cut and even all around and I showed her two pictures: one of a previous grooming from Your Elegant Pet which I highly do not recommend at all unless you want your baby to be shaved pretty much bald. The other picture was of another mini poodle with the hairstyle I wanted for her and she told me that they're not the same dog but that she would try her best to do it like the picture. Please be mindful that there is a bit of a language barrier so I would suggest bringing a picture or something to show her exactly what you would like. She told me to come back in an hour and a half and she called me at 12 to let me know that my dog was ready to be picked up. Once I got there I was initially nervous because I wasn't sure if she would get the style right due to my previous unfortunate encounters with other groomers in the area and the language barrier. However, to my pleasant surprise Anna and her assistant made my baby look so cute! She was cut perfectly and when I picked her up I could tell she liked Anna and had a good experience. The groomers told me she was great and she gave them no problems and they even gave her a cute red and white bow to match. She smelled wonderful and I couldn't be happier with Anna's work. It's a small grooming salon with everything in view except the bathing section. I would definitely return based on her great timing (1 1/2 - 2 hours to groom a 13 lb mini poodle) and the pricing was more than reasonable ($45) for everything. It included a bath and cut, anal gland expression, nail trim, and a cute accessory to match. I would definitely call beforehand to see how much she charges though because I think prices increase based on the size and breed of the dog. Definitely would recommend and I think I've found a new groomer for my pup! read more

I have called so many groomers and all told me they can't take my senior dog because of the risk. I use to take him to Ana on Firestone but he would always be shaking and have razor cuts. This place is great and a good price. $45 for a wash and shave. My dog gets really matted so I like his hair fully shaved and he did not have any razor cuts/burns when I got him. I also like how they groom the dogs in the front and not in the back where you can't see. My poor dog got beat up and traumatize here that for a week she was trembling and crying. My dog is 15 years old with cyst all over her body. I was so excited to try a new dog groomer. I read only good reviews from this place, all 5 star reviews except one 4 star review. It looked pretty promising. So my dog is in desperate need to be groomed. She has a bunch of mats behind her ears. But I didn't have an appointment, but thought I would give it a try. The place is easy to find and has plenty of parking. An older Korean lady greeted us at the door and used a super loud vacuum to suck up the fur all over the table before talking to us. She then looked at my dog and said she can't groom her because my dog is too big and she doesn't have her helper man to lift my dog up. I would have to come back the next day! Then I told her that I'm not so busy and I can probably help her lift my dog up...Nani is about 75 pounds, not too bad. But then she said she was going to charge me $70. So I would have to help her out and still pay as much as other places? It made no sense, and you can tell she really didn't want to groom my dog. I didn't do the grooming here at Pioneer Grooming. I ended up leaving and headed over to Petco instead. I think this place is only good for small pocket size dogs. Most of the pics on her wall were little doggies. Doggie discrimination I say! PIONEER GROOMING IS THE SH*T! its definitely like a hole in the wall but its a diamond in the rough. the location is pretty freakin ghetto cuz there's all these retarded people walkin around but whatever. the lady who runs this grooming shop is AWESOME. when i first went there to take my little maltese in, she was so nice to me and to my dog. what i like about this particular grooming salon is that it's not sketchy because its one big room, you get to see your dog getting groomed right in front of your eyes. i've heard of some groomers hitting pets while grooming so i love how i can watch my dog getting groomed. it is very very clean and a safe environment for your pet. she makes sure that she wipes down everything and vacuums BEFORE she starts grooming a new pet. don't get too freaked out when she starts yelling at your dog cuz it sounds like shes yelling at them in a mean way but that's just how koreans sound. I'm korean so i know cuz growing up everyone always thought my dad was mean when he's just naturally loooud. she doesn't really speak english but who cares. she does a great job grooming your pet. just as long as she gets the job done right...right?! one time the phone rang and i guess it was some telemarketer and she couldnt understand and seemed like she was getting flustered so she handed the phone to me as if i was like her receptionist and i had to handle the call. then another person called asking for directions i guess and she straight up just puts the phone to my ear and im all startled so im just like "uhh hello!?" and i had to tell the caller how to get to the store. overall, great service. fast service. very affordable compared to other places. very clean. again please dont be freaked out when she starts screaming at your dog, its not really screaming......she just wants to make sure the dog or cat does not move so she can give them a great hair cut. oh and just an icing on the cake.....this lady bought me pecan flavored ice cream and forced me to eat it. read more

After my Aussie Mobile Grooming disaster last month I had to find a place to take my Pomeranian Scooby for a summer cut he's been suffering this whole time! I didn't call & make an appt I just dropped by Saturday around 10am, the Asian lady was VERY nice, yes she has a strong accent like previous reviewers said but you are still able to understand her. After telling her what I wanted she scooped Scooby away. Feeling nervous after what happened with the mobile groomer I waited for a bit then finally we drove away, around 12pm I decided to go back & peek in since you can see everything, the place was packed with pet owners outside & she just happened to be finishing up on Scooby. He finally had a summer cut!! She finished him up with some smell good spray none of that girly stuff cause my dog is a stud & a bandana he looked handsome as ever!! PRICE- $35.00 included bath, hair cut, nails, anal glands expression, ear cleaning & teeth cleaning!!! I use to spend $75 @Downey Petco & that took 4-6 hrs & the Aussie Mobile disaster last month took 2 hrs & it cost me $90 plus tip! This is well worth the savings & PEACE OF MIND I will most definitely come back here no doubt about it!! read more

This place is great and at a descent price ($35). We take our VERY active yorkie maltese here and the poor asian lady has never turned us down. Even on a busy Saturday afternoon, she's had her ready in 2 hours. We don't ask for a difficult cut...just short everywhere especially the face. Our dog turns out so cute everytime! And that little bow she puts on her is just the CUTEST thing EVER! And she's never used any of those strong perfumes on our dog...which is good because she has sensitive skin and I have sensitive allergies! One time I took our English Bulldog to get her nails trimmed and it was maybe 5 mins before she closed. She hesitated a little when I walked in but told her I only needed a nail trim and she quickly took her in. She even cleaned her ears without me asking. I'm very pleased with this place even with the language barrier...just talk with your hands when describing what you want and she'll understand! read more

They cut my dog's ear and didnt tell me! I noticed it when I got home. I am really upset about this. I know she isn't one to move around a lot! I'm also sure they noticed because there was some kind of greasy ointment on it. I took her here based on all the good reviews. The language barrier is a problem. While they do speak english, they are not fluent. I believe this is why I also didnt get the haircut I wanted! I told them to leave the face long, but it just needs a trim, but my dog came back looking like a Chihuahua-totally shaved down! The only plus they give super cute bows. I also think they are good at cutting like purebred dog's hair, like the styles in the pictures they have on the wall. They had a few dog's there that looked really good. I'm like "wth happened to my dog? " I also don't think they blow-dryed/brushed out all the loose hair well enough after they shaved her down. Wow. What a joke. I searched for pet groomer near me and found this place. It would have been perfect since it is walking distance from our home. I have a 40lb Boxer Mix and she simply needed her nails trimmed. I called despite Yelp reviews, because of the location, I wanted to give them a try. When the phone was answered I listed to 15 seconds of coughing before someone said, "Hello". I mean there was no "Sorry about that" or "Pioneer Grooming" or "Can I help you." The entire conversation goes like this: Her after coughing for 15 seconds: Hello. Me: How much do you charge for dog nail trim? Her: What kind of dog? Me: Boxer Mix puppy, 40lbs Her: Wow, a big dog. What did you need? Me: I just want to know how much do you charge to trim nails? Her: Uh, um, well $30. Me: THIRTY Dollars for a simple nail trim? Her: Yes, $30 Me: Wow. Thank you. When I dropped him off i was honestly scared to leave him I was instantly judging this place without even giving it chance (judging a book by its cover) 1hr passes by and I go pick bruno up. The lady was playing with my dog making him feel safe till I got their. Bruno was crying when I told him it was time to come home he was running back and fourth to her licking her and giving her so much love and it was very strange because my dog isn't so affectionate with strangers. My dog is extremely difficult to deal with when it comes to grooming but he does allow this place to groom him with out a problem! He has gone here since he's been a pup and does just fine they do have to take measures like muzzling him but he's okay with it and they know not to go near his face !! A total hole-in-the-wall! haha The lady doesn't speak english very well but she knows what she's doing! I'm not korean, so I had a bit of a hard time explaining how I wanted my dog's hair cut but she was able to work with me to get it just right! Pioneer Grooming cut my dog's hair for $40 which is cheaper than other places I've been to (usually $50). If I bring my dog in earlier (2-3 months instead of 4-5 months) then the price would be $35. I highly recommend pioneer grooming. Yes the owner didnt know much english but she was sweet and only charged me 90 for my two french poodles, that were in horrible condition. I had left them for 2 months with my dogsitter while I was out of town and she turned them form nasty to the cutest puppies in norwalk! Pioneer Grooming has given me a reason to write my first ever review on Yelp. I took my dog here on Friday, November 18, 2011. We dropped him off in the morning and picked him up in the afternoon. As soon as we picked him up, we could tell that something was wrong with my dog. He would cry for no reason, he wouldn't let anyone pick him up and he was sometimes not able to walk without crying. At first, we thought that maybe he was just traumatized at the fact he was groomed so we gave him a week or so to try to "recover" from the experience. BUT we began to notice that he would cry more frequently when walking. It seemed as if it would hurt him to move. So we decided to take him to the vet. My dog was in so much pain that the had to put a muzzle on him and sedate him for the Vet to even touch him. The Vet took some X-rays and found that the discs in his neck were messed up and the discs in his back were inflamed. The doctor put him on several different medications for the pain and inflammation. There is no other explanation for my dog's behavior except that Pioneer Grooming probably battered my dog while he was there. My dog's was in obvious pain immediately after we picked him up and there is no way that my dog's injuries could have been caused elsewhere. I had a Korean friend of mine call Pioneer Grooming and try to talk to the older Korean lady. My friend tried to explain what happened. The Korean lady basically said F*ck You and hung up. You can also read Marisol D's review from 3-13-2011. She stated that she actually witnessed the lady hitting her dog. The only reason I'm not suing this lady is because I actually have no proof that I brought my dog there. No receipt or anything was given to me when I picked him up. So about 2 months and almost 700 dollars (medical fees) later, my dog has almost fully recovered and is doing fine now. So please, save yourself the money and the trouble. DO NOT take your dog to Pioneer Grooming. read more

In Pioneer Grooming there is only one person working the counter and grooming the dogs, but she is fast and treats the animals with care. I love that I could see where my dog was at all times. She did not take my dog to some room in the back where I could not see what she was doing to him. She cuts every dogs hair right there in front of you ,and she does it fast and with precision .I also loved the prices. Half the price of most other dog grooming places. This is not a luxury dog grooming, but it gets the job done cheap and quick. read more
