My old vintage condo unit needed: New bathroom sink faucet and water lines. (he suggested and purchased great new Faucet- great price.) Installed new Bathtub/shower faucet Cartridge- fixed leak and now turns like new- better than when I moved in many years ago. Old toilet needed all new water reservoir tank parts- he had to take toilet apart and dealt with a corroded nut. Now it works better than 23? year old original! Why did I wait so long? I have a few rental properties and wanted a handy man service who could help me with the little fixes. I found Patrick on Yelp. He had amazing reviews, so I scheduled an appointment. He didn't have any availability for two weeks. I finally got an appointment on 11/12/14 for 10am. At 10:10am, I texted him, asking if he was close. He responded about 5 minutes later saying an emergency happened and asked if he could have my tenant's contact information to reschedule.... No. If an emergency happens and you know you have an appointment coming up, let your appointment know. I should not have had to contact him. I'm so disappointed! We had been struggling with our disposal for a couple months after installing a new one. You'd flip the switch and get a humming sound for a minute, then it would shut itself down. We called the manufacturer and even had another handyman in but no one could diagnose the problem. Finally we called Any Fix and Patrick came by. He initially struggled to figure out the problem as well, but systematically worked through what it could be until he figured it out and we now finally have a working disposal. Gave AnyFix a call this morning after seeing the great reviews. Our basement was flooding. Patrick came in within 10 minutes and immediately assessed the problem within a few minutes of arriving. Within 20 minutes he corrected the problem and was on his way. There was a pipe that was incorrectly installed in our drainage system and he just reconnected it. He could have lied (like many do) and tell us we needed a replacement of this part or that part. He didn't and that was refreshing! This is my first experience with Patrick from AnyFix. My elderly mother had a leaking faucet. Water was flowing out onto the counter and into her toaster and coffee maker while I was in another state, over a thousand miles away. I am not a helpless girl, so when I decided to update my bathroom by changing all the fixtures I didn't think I was going to need a handyman. I was able to get everything done - removal of medicine cabinet, change light fixture and replace bathroom hardware - except for my towel bar. I measured and then measured again and the holes that were drilled into my ceramic tile were a 1/4" too short and the prior towel bar was forced on. Never having to drill through tile, I knew I was out of my league. I went to friends and realtors first for a guy who could do the job at a reasonable price. None of their recommendations panned out, so I went to yelp. Patrick was the 10th handyman I contacted regarding this job and the only one who responded quickly, provided a quote and was able to come the same day (not that I needed it done immediately but it was a perk). He showed up on time and was done within the hour (I had two companies quote this as a 2-3 hr job that I needed to pay for the drill bit on top of the hourly rate in top of travel time). GRADE:F. What a disappointment, especially since they are highly rated. I should have had some inclination when I did not get a fast response to my initial request. I had to have a new kitchen faucet installed, I set it up with Patrick for a Saturday morning. After a few minutes of inspecting under the sink he says 'we have a problem" then proceeded to tell me that the fixtures were old, the type I have no one uses any more, etc. He continued to work but sounded more frustrated as the time ticked by. Then he said I had another problem because he was not able to completely shut off the water. I have had work done before and no one ever had brought that up, including my building engineer. To make a long story short after 90 minutes with no progress Patrick said he would not be able to do it unless the water was shut off. So he left and I still had a broken faucet, no hot water in the kitchen and a new faucet still sitting on the counter. Oh and I was $75.00 poorer. I would NEVER consider this outfit again. If you want reliable work call Rocket Plumbing. They came and within a couple of hours I had my new faucet installed. It was a bit tricky and took longer because I live in an older buidling, but I was impressed with the professionalism shown by Rocket Plumbing. They didn't quit when the work got difficult. With all his years of experience hasn't Patrick worked in old buildings before? It doesn't matter that the pipes were old, he still should have been able to do the job. read more

This review is overdue but I felt the need to put this in still. I had a hell of a day awhile ago trying to figure out why my hot water heater was broken....called a bunch of handymen and to no avail no one could help me out. Came across Patrick who actually picked up the phone when I called and he was super nice. He could be over shortly. I was relieved especially having gone more then I'd like without any hot water and I was stressing out. He assessed the situation, fixed the water heater within a short amount of time and was on his way. Oh and he tightened up my loose faucet in the kitchen because he noticed it, how nice. Well, I have to be upfront and say that I never used his service, but after an initial call telling him what I needed done- he told me to text message him a photo of the repair. He said though that he could do the job but just wanted to see what type of radiators they were. I needed radiators disconnected and capped (not moved), so that the sandblaster could come out and remove them to their shop (they wouldn't disconnect). I sent pictures and believe I was pretty clear about what I needed done. I actually am pretty handy but at the time I was waiting to find out if I was pregnant (no stooping or lifting). I also am without anyone else to call. So, after texting and then receiving a text message asking again what I needed done- I never got a return call or text. So, if you can't do something or if the job is too small, you should say so- I was on a time schedule and had to have things firmly arranged. Luckily I kept calling around and finally got someone who agreed to come out (now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed they show up). Well at least the owner had contacted me back after my review and apologized. That's more than most would do. Humility is important and Id consider using them. read more

I recently had granite countertops installed in my kitchen. Once the installation was complete I needed a plumber to come out and install the faucet, hook up water lines and drainage pipes. I did a quick search on Yelp that evening and found Any Fix was located right around the block from my condo in Evanston. I gave Patrick a call and he said he would be by the next morning. He said the job would take 2-3 hours. The next day Patrick showed up and got to work. He made a quick trip to Home Depot for some parts. I had a ballast that went out in my kitchen ceiling light and called Anyfix. Patrick came by right away and gave me an estimate. The ballast I had was pretty uncommon so he told me my options and followed up the next day with info. on different parts, making it easier for me. I had made a mess of my toilet by trying to do a "simple" installation of a diaper sprayer on my own. Once I had reached the point of no return I realized I was in trouble and had to call a plumber. I purchased a projector a few months ago and was really tired of the plug running to an extension cord and looking awful. I needed an outlet and a space to run cables on the ceiling by the projector. I requested quotes a couple times through various sites but either the electrican would not provide a quote or their quote would be something like 3 hours at 500 total. Finally, patrick responded quickly to a last ditch request for quotes through yelp before I bought one of those cheesy extension cord through wall solutions on amazon. Patrick arrived right on time.
