After calling Will's shop and speaking with Riley, she offered for me to bring it in the following morning to run some diagnostics and provide me with an estimate. I brought the vehicle in early that morning, and by the afternoon, I received a call from Will with the results. Unfortunately, the cost of the repair exceeded the value of the vehicle, as it had 200k miles on it, so I am electing to purchase another vehicle. Will was kind enough to email me a detailed itemization of the repair expenses. It was obvious he had put a lot of time into the evaluation and repair estimate, which he did not charge me for. Although I did not utilize his repair services, I can advocate for his professionalism, transparency, and honest business practices. Another important item to note is that I had called about 5 other repair shops around Kalispell and Bigfork, and his shop was the only one that had the equipment and skill set to do the job, besides taking it to the dealership. Had a check engine light come on in our 2012 Ford F350. The error code we were getting indicated…read morethere could be something wrong with the fuel injection system. Had no idea what this meant other than it was recommended to not drive the truck until it could be seen by a mechanic. Spoke with Mason, who explained how the diagnostics on this type of error code works, and that a solution was not always easily identified. While it took two weeks to get into them to have the truck looked at, they were unable to find anything wrong at this time. He explained how these systems work and why it can be hit and miss as well as why you can get an error code, and in fact nothing be wrong. They could have charged us a huge diagnostic fee, they could've recommended parts we didn't need, and frankly, we would not have known better. We are from out of state and this was our only vehicle. The bottom line is the charges for the diagnostic were incredibly reasonable, the explanation and understanding of how the diesel fuel injection system works in dummy terms was great. I felt we could confidently drive our truck away as well as take it back if there were recurring issues and pay for further labor charges only if necessary. I would absolutely recommend this business. I felt we got amazing communication, great service, and frankly, very reasonable fees for what we were dealing with at this time. I would wait another two weeks if I had to in order to bring my vehicle back here if needed.

Unfortunately, it was more than they could work on. Didn't have parts or the tools. After calling at least 5 or 6 other mechanics from Livingston to Bozeman, from dealerships to private mechanics, we finally found Chris at Northwest. We had verbal quotes all over the place and scheduling was July, September and maybe we can fit you in. My husband had called our mechanic in Florida so we knew what it should cost. We needed a new cam and follower. Apparently, this is s common problem on Jeeps with 100,000 miles. We dropped the Jeep off on a Friday with an appointment on the following Friday. We also had a written quote, (not verbal). It was risky to keep driving it so we thought it was better just to leave it at Northwest. Chris said if there was a cancellation then he would work on the Jeep. On Tuesday morning by husband received an email invoice. The Jeep was repaired, ready for pick up and within to quote. We are so thankful that there are still honest, reasonable and reliable mechanics out there. There's so much more to this nightmare, but thanks to Northwest the Jeep is back to exploring.
