1. Please do something serious about that bathroom with the shower. The whole place smells damp and like mold when you first walk in. I'm sure the health department needs to be involved. 2. Replace machines that are constantly breaking down (cable machines, cardio machines, assisted) those temporary fixes that some guy comes in to do, isn't cutting it and I know you guys are making $$ off all the members plus that fee that you guys charge for maintenance/ equipment. 3. Why replace the big black box that wasn't even torn or ripped. But the smaller box that is actually ripped wasn't replaced? Where is the logic... 4. Why is the floor throughout the whole gym uneven ...? Renovating is very much needed. read more

I usually came here when the Carmel location got too busy. At first, things were OK. Recently: The crowd here, specifically at the monterey location on lighthouse, is severely unwelcoming, almost as golds down at del monte. Doesn't take a genius to know the morning crowd doesn't like new comers who just want to just get their work out and go home. On top of that, the parking lot is tiny, and street parking is the worst, especially with the constant road work. The bathrooms had a 15-minute cap since there were no showers except in the uni sex bathroom that I'd only trust with a full body condom. That said, the machines and weights are decent. At least they have a proper leg press, unlike the Pacific Grove location, but at this point, I'd rather go to Pacific Grove than this place. I've never met the staff here, but the blackboard and the morning crew can't be a good sign of who works here. I've tried to contact to change this before this review with no response. At the time of writing: The blackboard, as of late march, has been a magnet of toxic writing with the word "cunt" in broad view of the whole gym. Someone decided to call a bunch of people "beta" within the same blackboard. This, combined with the rude stares and the people who clearly avoid newcomers or people who registered at another anytime fitness, is why I'm writing this. Terrible rating solely due to the horrendous cleanliness of the gym. The floor in the studio is absolutely disgusting. There's debris and dust piles all over. It's obvious that it hasn't been cleaned in months probably years and not swept in weeks most likely. It's absolutely disgusting! Members can't even sit on clean ground and when I grab an Ab mat, those are dirty too! Equipment is all over the place and older members find it difficult to grab heavy weights and bring them into the studio where I thought they belonged. The lack of ongoing maintenance and upkeep is horrendous. It makes me not want to come here! I also went to plug the tower fan in and both outlets don't even work in the studio. Decent space provided at this location, however the filth of this location can't make up for it unfortunately. I live right up the street and I'd rather not have to drive to another location where they don't offer the same space as this location, but it appears that may be the only resolution to feeling comfortable and more safe from all the germs and grime! Perhaps they consider to add a suggestion box to receive feedback and suggestions from their members regarding how to improve their business so that people will actually want to come back and maybe even refer people to bring them more business. Member since 2015 Sign up was easy, they said canceling is not a problem once contract is up. Work in the Bay Area commuted from Monterey. Needed to find a gym that was a half way point plus commuting is not fun during traffic hours. Signed up at the Morgan Hill location. They finally opened in Prunedale, Marina and then Monterey. Enjoyed the different locations. Finally 2018, I got pregnant and had to put membership on hold sometime in 2019 (forgot how long they put the account on hold, maybe 9 months). Relocated to Fremont, then COVID happen 2020, thought maybe this whole thing will stop and that I can enjoy the gym again. Didn't mind paying for membership since a lot of business were not doing so well (mind you,I'm done with contract so there's nothing holding me back). Since, COVID is still around during Spring of 2021. And having a baby at home, I tried calling and leaving voicemails about canceling but heard nothing. Thought maybe office isn't open cause of COVID reasons. Stopped by the Marina location but office was closed and I didn't have my fob key to try to get inside. The fob key ring had broken off my keychain sometime before giving birth. And was lost. Fast forward 1/17/2022, I decided to call the Marina office and someone picked up. The person couldn't locate my membership in the system so he ask for manager. He even said this issue is above his pay raise. Come to find out that I had to cancel my membership at the location I opened my account. Last I heard, my account was transferred to Prunedale because I went there more often. So, I assume that since my last visits to the gyms were at the Marina location (caused I went there more often) then they would have transferred me there. I called Morgan Hill location, I talk to John on speaker cause I was driving. I was visiting the grandparents with my son in Monterey. By the time I was talking to John, I was in San Jose. I was told by John that in order to cancel my membership I had to do it in-person. So, I made a detour and drove back down to Morgan Hill. I was charged $32 for not giving them a 30 day notice. (And I just paid for this months membership see picture) Then I was charged $39 for key fob. I asked if the fees can be waived. The manager Joceline said that it's not her problem that I didn't go to the gym and PAID for membership. Remember! I am not in contract so what is holding me back from cancelling? (Even sooner) I paid 2+ years of membership (COVID) and she could NOT waive the fees? Key fob- wear and tear, I've had this key fob for how long? It's made out of plastic, how long do you think it will last? It's not metal! Contract- she checked to see if I was still in contract. Of course, she tried to have me not cancel but put the account on hold. She also tried to ask to have my account transfer to someone I know because of the low rate I was paying $32 per month. After all I had to go through to cancel, do you really think I would want someone I know get this type of treatment? Yeah, no thank you. When she told me my cancellation fee and that she wouldn't waive it. She ask if I would pay it today. I just wanted to throw my money at joceline as quick as I can and get the heck out of there. Disclaimer: if you don't pay your fee by "DUE DATE" they will keep your account open so that you can pay more. I read this on the letter after I canceled my membership and they printed me a cancellation letter after I paid (and never mention such disclaimer). Joceline had a surprise look when I said I would pay it now. Make sure to read those fine prints or ask them if there's a catch. People won't say unless asked, it's all business. I would think with COVID, they would have a better process for canceling membership instead of doing it in-person but I guess that's the gimmick of keeping people not to cancel. This just shows that they're all about money. No moral considerations. Plus, with technology today, you should be able to cancel at any location but that's not the case here. They have it so you can go to any gym but when it comes to cancelling expect the hassle. If I had known, what I had to go through to cancel membership even WITHOUT being in contract. I would had NEVER step foot into this gym. Life lesson learned. I can't imagine for the people who have membership and still in contract but want to cancel. Be safe, have a gym at home or go to a friends house with workout equipments. Don't waste your money on people that don't have considerations for others. I wasted enough time and energy but if someone can learned from my review, it's well paid off. read more

Tried to cancel my membership due to a hernia. Gym told me they needed a doctors note. After I emailed the docs note, somebody on the customer care team had the courage to say the letter needed specific wording. I know they wanted to mess with since I was upset and we had gotten into an arguement over my cancellation. They continued to charge my account for a few months until my contract was over. Terrible! Btw this gym is only worrh it if you cant workout before the bigger gyms close since its 24 hrs; otherwise its terrible; very small, very few machines, they charge you bi-weekly that way they get 26 payments rather than 12 payments monthly [26/2=13]. And they charge you a 30$ cleaning fee every 6 months. No supervision after 7pm or so; so certain members blast their music while the gym music is on; can concentrate on one music. Just terrible. I was a member of Anytime Fitness as recently as last month primarily using the Orinda, CA location. When we moved to Monterey I re-joined a gym almost across the street ... what could be easier? Pretty quickly I realized how spoiled I was from my Orinda Anytime Fitness. Why? Always super clean and organized, fresh, cool air, not crazy busy so I could actually USE the equipment I couldn't get to at the other place. A bit more expensive than the other place but in the same ballpark. O, the process to join was also WAY easier than the other place! It may not be across the street but I will enjoy it much more!
