I normally don't leave reviews, but the experience I had with the Redding Anytime Fitness owner/manager deserves to be known. She has single-handedly turned what should've been a simple Active&Fit membership into a headache built on lies and control. The gym is still publicly listed on the official Active&Fit network, but she decided to "make her own rules" and deny access anyway, claiming I'd used the location too much -- even though I pay through an approved program. That's not policy; that's power-tripping. It's the kind of shady behavior that makes you question how a franchise like this is being run. She knew exactly how much effort it takes to get a workout in -- the pre-workout, the scheduling, the childcare, the balance between work and life -- and still didn't offer a single complimentary day or ounce of decency. She chose to make things harder, not easier. That's not customer service; that's ego. I actually had to call Anytime Fitness corporate myself, and thankfully they were professional enough to refund me the last three months. Still, that doesn't give me my wasted time back. Now I have to start from scratch, hunt for a new gym, and rebuild the consistency I already had -- all because one owner/manager thought she was above the system. If you value honesty, accountability, and fairness, stay far away from this location. It's run by someone who believes rules don't apply to her, and that's not the kind of environment anyone should have to train in. read more

Absolutely worst gym I've ever used. The equipment sucks and is very limited, the owner is rude and unprofessional and they will try to charge more than other anytime locations that are better in every way. The freeweight selection is terrible. Other AF locations are twice the size with far better equipment and variety and still charge less. The owner Kellie is unprofessional and rude. Anytime Fitness in Redding is HORRIBLE! The doors are never open, there are no trainers, front desk people, or anyone in general ever there to help answer any questions you would have. They are changing their prices to 65$ a month for customers that have already been paying 40$ and that does not come with anything special just the basic gym equipment. Not to mention new members are now going to pay 80$ a month, insane! Just this past week I recently spoke to the owner Kelly who just happened to be there I have not seen her or anyone working the 8 months I have been there. And asked about these new prices because I was going to cancel. She was very rude and disrespectful to me and I left upset because of her attitude towards me. I never told her to cancel my membership though, the next day I got to the gym and my key fob is red and does not let me in! I left many voicemails trying to figure out the issue because I am still paying for it! I ended up calling Anderson anytime and they were very kind and helpful and told me she "locked" my account and it's pending cancel. Which means I am still paying for my membership for the next 30 days she just isn't letting me use it. Which she cant actually do, they said that is very wrong and not okay. They gave me a new number to call because I still cant get ahold of Redding to get a refund or just talk to a person in general! Not okay at all. Very unprofessional and horrible customer service. Equipment is very close together. If you have OCD dont go. Nearly every fan is on high speed with no ventilation for air quality. I dont recommend going if you want to work up a sweat; once your pores open it is likely to be consumed with whatever maybe circulating in the air. I'm new to the Redding area, just moved here from Southern California . I called earlier to see what I needed to bring in to sign up for the 7 day trial. i was told a picture ID and $25 deposit for a key. I came in later in the day and was greeted by Kris a middle aged Asian woman. I did not feel at all welcome, she told me I needed proof of my current address (I just moved to Redding last week) I would have brought my rental agreement had I known. I asked her if she could contact my rental property company , she said no. So I then called the company my self and asked them to email the agreement to the company email address. I was then given a quick 3 minute tour, I proceeded to wait in their 'lobby' for another minute and was told by Kris that she had not received the email. (This was 5 mins from when I called the rental property) I let her know that I would wait a few more mins and also informed her that she was not giving me the greatest impression and not all making me feel welcomed. She told me that I could wait only TWO more minutes in their lobby and if she did not receive the email I would have to leave. SHE WAS KICKING ME OUT! For wanting to sign up for a 7 day trial to potentially sign up at their gym! Needless to say Kris made me feel like a second class citizen and left a horribly negative impression of Anytime Fitness. I will be calling their corporate office as well to report their rude employee Kris. I will be taking my business else where! If i could give ZERO STARS I would. read more

I enjoy your facility although my entry key didn't work since I haven't been there for quite a while. My comment is that when I talked to the young man who stated he was their cleaner he mentioned the people who were outside with a recall petition. He called them goons which I feel is completely inappropriate for an employee to say anything about anyone. I visited this location in the late evening during unstaffed hours. I found the facility itself to have a nice spacious feel to it and it was clean. I gave them 4 stars for a few reasons. I was delighted to see that they had a stair climber and rowing machine, although the stair climber had one issue. The left handle on the machine has (+) and (-) buttons on it and the (-) button does not work. I discovered this when I was at the height of my climb/speed and tried to slow down and the button wouldn't work. In a panic I just pressed the red 'emergency' stop button until I could acquaint myself with the touchscreen controls. I like that they had the water bottle station and the sweat towels and female hygiene products were a nice touch. There is a lot of signage in this club, which I'm unsure if it's because they have so many issues or they are just trying to stay on top of things. If I had to leave a suggestion I would say buy a squeegee for the showers. There is a sign asking patrons to clean up water that inevitably spills out of the shower (because there is no lip) but the only thing available to clean up is paper towels (which were empty during my visit). Anywho, overall I had a pleasant visit. Bonus points for the photos hanging of the gym/community members running a race together - it showed a real sense of community. read more

I had the unpleasant experience of visiting this AF location in Redding, CA. I was greeted by a very unhappy garden gnome sitting at the desk as I walked in. She assumed the person walking in behind was tailgating on my membership when in fact they just didn't have their key fob to get in (just to be clear because the owner has a way of reframing negative reviews to ignore the facts but I did not know the person walking in behind me and the person did not enter the gym because the gnome refused him entrance). The gnome leader said only I was allowed into her club. To further enforce her gnome rule she called me two days later to tell me I was blocked from entering her kingdom here to fore. ​I'm from Georgia and was visiting this AF. I have a national membership and pay the extra fee to make my visits legitimate. Sorry guys, but this gnome kingdom is F'd up and was not like the rest of the AF's locations I visited. It was janky, musky (no open windows), small and not fully equipped. You would do better working out with your brother in the family garage and showering under the garden sprayer. At least the garden gnomes in my Mom's backyard are friendlier than this pudgy squat gnome leader on Placer St. I did receive a reply from the owner (Dan). He commented I was abusive. Apparently, he doesn't look at or remember his other bad reviews but that is a common thread as everyone in Dan's world is abusive when they complain. The gym is empty Danny Boy and people don't like your customer prevention department. It's a big "FAIL". Get woke man!!! read more

I actually liked this facility pre-pandemic. Due to the suggested precautions, I only used it a few times in the last year. When I tried to access, I was told that they would not let me come in because they were too small and could only accommodate people who had come at least 12 times last year. That makes no sense, since the times I did come it was relatively empty. They agreed to put me on a waiting list. I checked back multiple times to no avail. I filed a complaint with Silver Sneakers as I believed that to be a violation of their contract. Silver Sneakers notified me that it was in fact a problem, but I could attend until the end of 2021, when the facility was officially cancelling. The facility said I needed an appointment to update paperwork, which I scheduled immediately, only to have them cancel 30 minutes prior saying that the vendor had cancelled me. Clearly, they do NOT want any new members or they would have treated me better and tried to encourage me to become a member without Silver Sneakers. It really was one of the most bizarre interactions I have ever had with a local business! read more

I just recently joined Anytime Fitness, and I am really enjoying it, for the following reasons: -The freedom of 24 hour availability. -The place is not very big, but having been a previous member at a larger gym, I find the smaller space much more comfortable. -There are plenty of machines that are always in good condition. -The staff is very friendly, helpful, and informative. -The entire gym is always very clean. -Reasonable membership fees. -The availability of classes at any time, by way of the kiosk and projector in the aerobics room. -iPod docks on all treadmills, eliptical machines, and bikes, some with televisions and cable TV channels. Originally I was looking for a gym with a swimming pool, but I have been content with the equipment offered here. My only complaint, if any, is a lack of actual locker rooms. Spaces to store items, change clothes, and shower are still provided though! read more

Anytime Fitness is a great deal for people with a healthy lifestyle because you can workout anytime or at center around the country when you travel. The UPS: It is an adult facility (18+) that is long on ambiance, brand-new equipment with AV and West side convenience but you will pay more than other gyms in Redding. What makes anytime unique is that you can take a yoga, cardio, kick boxing or conditioning class at anytime with the Fitness On Demand videos or join several live group fitness classes morning and evening. They offer discount incentive for friends and family that you bring to the club. The DOWNS: it's small and it's more expensive than other gyms in town. There are no changing rooms with lockers to protect valuables just open cubbies. Only 1 shower and 1 gender bathroom each. No bells and whistles, so this club might not be right for you or families. The UPS outweigh the DOWNS so stop by and get a free week and other specials. read more

As a Google Local Guide I feel I have a duty to keep the public informed of places, people, businesses and other organizations that may benefit them, or in some cases, bring them significant harm. This is one of those cases. Recently, I come to find out while checking my Golden 1 Credit Union balance that I am MISSING a significant amount of money from my account for the 5th month in a ROW! As in GONE. At my current $10.75/hourly wage you'll probably understand why $178 in club enhancement fees in addition to charges from my bank due to these supposed "enhancement fees" (billing opportunities) leads me to write the following review of this business and their product/service. Good luck doing business with these guys. I once worked somewhere that sold extended auto protection policies. Even those guys had better customer service skills and you knew when the money would come out of your account ;) After contacting the branch earlier today Customer Service Representative Stephanie Rossini (my "Personal Trainer") offerered me credit of some kind over the phone towards next month. If you had bills to pay and mouths to feed I don't suppose a "credit" would help with a $178 hit but I suppose I should be grateful! Thanks Anytime Fitness! Only Redding location so I suppose that they can get away with perpetually misrepresenting the contractual agreement that they convince you to sign ;) My $5 supposed "Club Enhancement" Fee was apparently due October 1st Somewhere in the fine print of my contract where Customer Service Rep Stephanie said they reviewed this with me back in MARCH. I should have been charged $5 according to the contract, but just as a courtesy they could have called, emailed or texted ( I receive texts from them all the time encouraging me to spend more money but never reminding me about charges) which even my credit card company will do when charging a 24% interest rate. Clearly, if my monthly membership dues are being electronically debited from my account on October 14 (nevermind that they will draft sometimes four days before when there is nothing in your account) then the $5 "enhancement fee" should come out then (NOT THE OTHER WAY AROUND!) SHAMEFUL. They also could have contacted me regarding my due date for this biannual fee, or at least sent a message notifying me within the App, instead I received $88 dollars in charges from them on October 1st and am now overdrawn $178. I haven't yet seen my myiclubonline account to check and view the number of "Service Fees" myself, and each of those under my family plan have received, but usually we'll get 3 $19.50 service fees and I'll spend hours of my time getting these waived or removed each month! Good thing I now live more than 25 miles away from ANY Anytime Fitness location so I am entitled to cancel our contact. I love the gym and at one point enjoyed going and using the shower after a long day at work or on the trails. Not happy with customer service or their billing company. This is a fantastic gym. It's clean, the other members are very nice and supportive, and the management is very responsive and kind. It's nice to have a 24 hour gym in town and the freedom to work out whenever you want! There is always ample parking since its in a shopping center. You get your own key so you can buzz yourself in and workout anytime. Which is also nice because that means its a secure building and random people aren't walking in during evening hours. There is a lot of equipment and it has areas for cardio, weight lifting and free weights, as well as a smaller "gym" with a virtual personal trainer which has tons of workout programs you can access. smaller gym, no massage or tanning equipment. owner is unprofessional. recently had my account transferred over to her gym without my knowledge and she decided to go into my bank and withdraw funds without permission. even tho my account dues had been paid thru the end of the month. when i contacted her she said she could transfer me and charge me what ever she wants. she is lucky I didn't sue her. i did contact corporate and they reversed the charges and transferred me back to my home gym. the nerve of this lady. I would not step in her facility ever again if the paid me 2. So I was never a member here but how could I be? This place was quite literally the smallest gym I've ever seen! It is almost comical in fact. No locker rooms, just a men's and women's bathrooms. The group fitness room can fit like 5 people. There is a handful of cardio and weight machines. They don't even have any barbells, just a single smith machine. No serious weightlifter would be caught dead in there. May be good for women who don't really do too much lifting. Its new and clean ill give it that. read more

UPDATE In September 2016, a 24/7 gym - Planet Fitness - opened in Redding and provided a suitable alternative. Unfortunately, this is the only 24/7 gym in Shasta County, California. The customer service is unprofessional, leaves one feeling uncomfortable, and unwelcome. They only have 2 bathrooms, which have the only showers. They give the impression of arrogance, greediness, and lack respect. They do not appear to genuinely care about the people, just the profit and every detail of every applicable law or contract, looking out for themselves only. read more

I almost gave it four stars. Why not Five? No pool. Why four? Its close to home and therefore convenient. Its next to a store, and therefore convenient. Its open 24 hours and therefore convenient. Its on my way home from work. The staff is nice and friendly. The customers are regular people of all ages just getting in a workout. The place is not full of young people flirting, or a roomful of people watching your every move. You are left alone here. You are given space here. People are nice here. I will stay here for a long time. But in all honesty, while other gyms I've belonged to have offered more, I really like the atmosphere here. So 5 stars it gets. read more

This gym is great because of: 1. Privacy (there's never anyone here; it's amazing... no waiting for weights or machines). 2. It's small, but they have all the standard machines (just one of each instead of many), and free weights up to 110s. 3. 24 hours 4. Lack of locker rooms... just small, private bathroom/changing rooms, and a separate place to store stuff. 5. Convenient location for people who live off Placer/Mary Lake/etc. Only downside is if anything happens to your key to get in (say it randomly stops working, or you lose it) they're only there very limited hours. Also, guest passes are really expensive. But other than that, it's great. And the owner and trainer are super sweet. read more

The only reason why i didnt give it 5 stars was because i wish this gym was just a tad bit bigger. Very nice welcoming staff, small gym but loved the anytime access so went with this one while I was staying in redding temporarily for a few months. The gym and bathrooms were always flawlessly clean and all the weights were organized and racked all the time. The ONLY issue I ran into was during the busier hours the more popular machines and free weights would be occupied, I know you run into this with most gyms but when there is only one squat rack/bench then it can be a waiting game or need to alter your workout accordingly. All the machines were in great shape and nothing seemed to be broken ever. Recommended gym if you ask me. Very pleased. read more

I am an anytime fitness member from out of state. I'm visiting Redding and therefore using the Redding anytime fitness. I have been in anytime fitness centers in 8 different states (which is a pro for membership in itself). I have to say the Redding anytime fitness is the best I've been in. No it isn't a full heavy weight lifting gym but it is an excellent gym if you want to get a great workout anytime of day or night. People were friendly and didn't compare what I was lifting to what they were lifting, which is an annoyance at some of the other gym's I've had membership. No there isn't a locker room either, but I consider that a positive. Anyway, great, clean, and well equiped gym. Thanks for the hospitality! read more

My husband was a member here for about 2 years. The gym was fine. It was clean and had up to date machines. He didn't use the membership, but that was his fault. What I don't like and I gave them a chance to fix it, is they will take it upon themselves to charge and add on fees because they have your visa number. My husband squared everything away and cancelled the membership. Asked if he owed anything and was told he was square. Then three weeks later they debit 69.00 dollars to my account because we still owed for 30 days. You have to give a thirty day notice. So it wouldn't go thru because now in Oregon we had a new bank card. So rather that bill us or call and straighten things out, they just billed us. It's 19.50 a month. Well that's what my husband paid. So that's two MORE 19.50's. Plus Deanna the manager said "we tried texting him" ok well he has a new number, but since when do businesses start using text message to take care of customer service? I'm never signing up for things like this anymore. It's better just to May month to month. When they have your card, well they have all the cards and they pretty much let you know by their unwillingness to make it right. I mean C'mon three months membership fees. They are just trying to get every cent they can when you cancel. Not happy at all unfortunately. I even told her I was going to get on YELP and express my grievance. I joined this gym in 2014 after a bad relationship breakup. I wanted to do something for me and get in shape and feel better about myself. This gym is awesome. The owner, Kellie, really cares about her members. She takes the time to talk to members and is a visible presence in the gym, which really was important to me. Not only is she an awesome trainer and so knowledgeable about the body, nutritian and all the equipment there, but there is also an emotional, mental element involved with getting in shape. Kellie takes a personal interest in helping all of her members, and she helped me so much in gaining my self-esteem, empowerment, AND a healthy, in-shape body that it is a gym that will live in my heart forever. Anytime Fitness also has some incredible trainers! Attend their classes....you won't regret it, and it's fun!! I no longer live in Redding, but I can attest to the fact that this gym truly changed my life. It's not just about the machines and the sweat....it's about your well-being. I absolutely love this gym! It's everything I look for in a gym. They have great equipment, it's clean always, it's open 24/7, it's completely safe the only way you can access the gym is with a special key, it's never crowded; all the equipment is usually open! Everyone that works out here is very to themselves and there is no judgment here whatsoever. The staffs really friendly, It's a positive gym! If I could give this location less stars than this I would. I started my membership in southern ca, and it was great! I had no issues. Moved to redding, and transferred my membership there, only to discover that they had doubled my fees each month because they are allowed to change my contract but I am not. During the "initial tour," the employee was rude and talked to me as if I were 12, no respect whatsoever! Because I could not get out of the contract, I grimaced and paid, but called 4 separate times to ensure that at the end of my contract I would not be charged. My contract ended in December 2015 and yet in January 2015 I was charged another $44.00! First off, that is absurd for a gym membership. Let alone being charged when I had already cancelled it. Upon trying to call to request a refund, the phone continuously rang. I called 14 times before I got a hold of someone who said they would have the manager call back. I was at work and missed the manager's call and have been trying to call back for an entire day with no answer. Not impressed with this location in the slightest and will be contacting the the higher ups. read more
