This gym and Anytime Fitness gyms in general get so many things right. A ton of useful equipment, good locations, good staff, and the other members are generally kind and considerate. A thing that could improve this location is optimization of utility of space as the space is certainly limited. You guys were terrible for charging me when the key fob didn't work. They were shady about how long I was paying while key fob was deactivated terrible customer service all around just go to another gym like LA or 24 hr these people do not do a good job they take your money and do the bare minimum. in conclusion they suck don't sign the contract. read more

Staff are friendly. Space is a small, but I liked that; it gave it a local feel. Equipment in good shape. Cons - Have to give 30 day notice to cancel membership.... why? Honest businesses leave people close their membership on the spot IMO. I asked the staff about it, and they said " they have several members that decide not to cancel after their cancellation has been placed or still have a few weeks before they need to leave." Seems fishy -- why not give members who *know* they want to leave the option to leave on the spot, and not charge them ~66 bucks for a service they wont use? Or meet halfway: bring down the 30 days to 14 days or something more affordable? - Body weight machine -- the numbers are off here I think. It told me I have something like 4% body fat, when my smart scale at home told me I was ~16%. read more

I used this gym for about a year, the gym and facility is reasonably ok/good for the price. What I didn't like at all is below: 1. I asked them to freeze the gym membership for which they ask 10$ per month -- for no good reason. This is... okay... 2. I then asked them to cancel my membership, for this they need me to pay for 1 month (seems like there is 1 month notice), even though they know I've kept it frozen for last 3+ months -- if I have a reason for not coming to gym for last 3 months and don't wanna continue, for what would I use this last one month before canceling -- make no sense other than just being a silly tactic to get more money from customer. 3. Another thing I was told, if I'd join the gym again I'd need to pay initiation fee ($80+) AGAIN, this is just ridiculous, there is really nothing significant that happens with initiation. I'm sure all of this was told when I joined or written somewhere, but if I'd be honest, from a customer perspective being in this situation, all of this simply doesn't make sense. Other than this, gym is ok/good, but I wanna give one star to highlight this downside. read more

I'm new to Seattle and live around this gym, I'm a gym rat and been working out for 6 years. Once I moved here one I wanted to find a gym asap and checked out this gym online. Went in person to try the free 7 day pass that was showed online but they said they didn't do that and I'll need a Washington ID. The gym is always clean with decent music playing at weight training area but quieter at the aerobic machines. Staff is friendly and helpful and equipment is well maintained. Crowd is interesting mix of middle-class folks from the area--no WAC pretensions. People seem more trusting of one another here than other gyms. People also seem respectful in not wearing heavy scents or having BO like a few local gyms (cough, cough). Cons: bathrooms need more powerful exhaust fans for people taking showers. More cleaning stations and spray bottles/paper towel rolls. App is quirky as is the website but the friendly staff makes up for it in person. read more

Lack of equipment is definitely a concern, and the space its self is very small and crowded. You practically gotta stand next to someone and wait for them to finish on whatever machine your looking to use. Showed up this morning and my key fob won't work. They are serving up a nice product here. Gym is always clean, I've never been when it was too crowded, and it is in a safe and convenient location. There is usually decent amount of street parking in the block or two surrounding the gym and Trader Joe's is next door and the Coop down the street, making it east to knock out two birds with one stone. Everything was always in well- maintained, functioning shape. Their is every machine you are likely to need, with some doubled up and the enough free weights and other equipment to get done what you need to. It is also nice that the aerobic machines face out to the street. Adam helped singed me up and was always a friendly, upbeat personality to deal with and they seemed pretty straightforward in how it all worked. I recommend this place! read more

I'm submitting a new review because the last one was not comprehensive and only focused on the 30 day before next payment cancelation policy that made me unhappy.  I understand that policy is in place to "protect both parties" and I paid for an extra month I won't be using under this policy, $75.14 to be exact, uncontested. The facility is extremely small, the weights I wanted to use were always in use, 3 days out of the 4-5 days per week I went they were out of paper towels to clean the machines, not only are the weights always in used, most cardio machines were also occupied, usually I end up having no choice but to use the treadmill until something else frees up. I was unhappy about using this gym so I decided to cancel my membership a couple days before my next payment, they suggested I freeze my membership for a month instead and I agreed, I thought I might give it another chance but I decided to cancel at the end of that feeze and was slapped with an extra month of membership that I have no intention of using.  I understand I didn't cancel soon enough for someone else to sign up for the next month and take my place, in my opinion this gym shouldn't be adding people it's already too packed and running out of resources on the daily for their members.  The $75.14 was worth it to get me out of this claustrophobic tiny room. read more

I did their 7 day trial but returned the key fob immediately after working out there for 1 day, as it was too small and doesn't have the equipment that I need for what I do (assisted dip/chin, leg curls, etc). Exactly two weeks later, I was charged $162.5 for membership. I followed the process for ending the trial and not continuing with the membership, which involves returning the key access fob. The owner, Daniel, immediately followed up with me and apologized for that mistake and issued me the refund. I appreciate his service and helpfulness. read more

Cheap, open always and reliable. For what you get I fear that it was a touch overpriced and the equipment and facilities are maintained for such a degree of cost and being open 24 hours a day. That's the stuff I've always been very friendly and low pressure, but I can't stand the constant up selling they try and do in between workouts or one just chatting. I've been during peak times and I've been during slow times and I've noticed that many gym goers do not take the time to wipe down their stations and I don't see any staff routinely doing that as well. Finally, there are two rowing machines that are stored in the upright position, which is correct. But overall the rowing machines are not well-maintained and I can tell have not been serviced in quite some time. Chain slap is pretty high, and the damper seems to not do much meaning there's a ton of dust clogging the mesh. And for some odd reason there's always angry rap with foul language playing (I'm no prude, but c'mon) on the speakers yet everyone else has their earbuds in. Maybe just take the music off? I don't often leave Yelp reviews, but I wanted to leave some feedback for Anytime Fitness on Cap Hill, because it is well-deserved. Not only are the facilities kept clean and fresh, but the gym offers an ample supply of accessory equipment (I made the most use out of foam rollers, weight belts, and chalk). The keycard access 24 HOURS A DAY (!) is easy, and allowed me to get sessions in around a crazy schedule. What's more, the gym actively seeks member feedback for improving the gym (such as purchasing equipment, changing layouts, adding classes, etc). Being a smaller community, I felt my feedback was listened to when the gym started providing chalk more regularly. For the cherry on top, the staff acted with professionalism and grace over an accidental billing dispute, resolving the issue quickly. Props to Adam for the help! Overall, this gym supported my goals in getting stronger and healthier. It is a clean, well stocked environment that makes it easy to keep coming back. read more

Nothing negative to say about this gym. Fantastic location, decent equipment, friendly owners and staff. Transitioning from a large college gym myself, the smaller size took a bit to use to. They only have 2 squat racks and 3 benches. But having gone here regularly for about 8 months know, I can honestly say that I rarely have to wait for equipment​, not during peak hours, not during classes. I don't use the cardio equipment here, but there always seems to be space there as well. Definitely recommended. read more

HIDDEN FEES. Super disappointed in how these guys handle new customers. First off, I e-mailed them about signing and Courtney (club manager) replied that there's a $1 signup fee only on Oct 7th, but (quote: "Beat the rush of madness that will occur that day, and stop in today and we'll honor that deal!") A few more back and forth e-mails, and I walk in the next day to sign up. All of a sudden there's a $40 sign-up fee. The owner (Andrew) was signing me up, and he would not honor the $1 fee his staff promised the previous day ("sorry, that was only a one day offer") even though it's clear from the mail that they would otherwise honor it on other days ("beat the rush of madness THAT DAY and stop in TODAY"), but he wouldn't honor it now that I'm ready to sign on the dotted line. Fine, I'll sign up anyway. What's the total cost? He shows me the iPad with the monthly cost, the intro fee, taxes, and a grand total I'll be paying in big green letters. So I take out my credit card, and then BAM, another fee. A RECURRING fee, at that (for "club enhancements"... what?!). I asked if I can decline that service, he said NO. I asked why he wasn't upfront about this fee, and he got offended ("I AM being upfront, this is upfront"). No dude, it's not upfront if you show me the fee AFTER I agree to what you call "your total cost after fees and taxes". read more

I've been trying some new gyms as I've moved to the area. Recently I tried out several of the local gyms, Denali Fitness and Anytime Fitness, to see how they fare. Overall, the gym is small, but functional. They have uni-sex bathrooms there that act like changing rooms. During one of the last days of my two week trial, I was working out with a coworker and one of the trainers called me into the office and pretty much said that I shouldn't be training people at their gym. He then showed me to some guy sitting in the corner , apparently their fitness director, who went on some diatribe about my needing to go somewhere else as they have their own trainers. He went on saying that "several of their members" were concerned about this and brought this up to him. Even when I noted that I was simply there working out with a friend and not sure what they were talking about, he went on about how they don't appreciate "trainers" coming into their gym, especially during trial weeks. What??! I have no idea where they got this from. I arrive with a friend, we work out and then leave. This certainly didn't set well with me. I actually liked the gym and would have signed up for a membership, but that reception has me looking elsewhere. Their owner, who introduced himself one of the days I was there, seemed quite nice, but their staff left me a bit cold. read more

I don't live far from this place and never knew it was here until about a week ago when I decided to park on the street to go to Trader Joes. It's right next door! So I checked it out on Yelp and saw they had a 14 day free trial. Wouldn't hurt to try since I haven't been able to make it to my regular Crossfit classes. Plus, they needed to be reviewed. :) I was given a quick tour and liked the space. I don't like huge gyms and I thought the size of this one is perfect for a neighborhood gym. I got my card key and I was good to go. I didn't come back to work out until 10p that night. I stay busy. Anyway, here's the low down: Pros- -Free wifi :) -Water fountain! -Have Crossfit equipment (plyo boxes, kettle bells, slam balls, concept rowers, barbells (not bumper plates), ab mats, soon getting med balls, I hope they get some Rx Jump Ropes too, but I forgot to ask about them) -A private room for classes. Classes are automated from a kiosk. They have a variety of classes to choose from: Pilates, cycling, strength training, and yoga to name a few. It shows the duration for the class too. When you select a workout a projector screen comes down and you can do your class with the video, this = convenience. -Lots of strength training machines. -Friendly guys that work there. I didn't feel any pressure to join and I felt they were accommodating to my needs. -Secure 24/7 access. Come and go at your own convenience. -One hour personal training when you join. -2 showers -Tanning -Soon to have sports massage -Comfortable setting, a TV on each cardio machine. -Lockers -Reasonable rates Cons- -I think the heater was blowing by the row machine. I felt warm air blowing above. It was freezing outside, but I don't think the heat was necessary inside. -Not sure about peak times when membership grows; classes may be hard to take but I think they will have something planned if it does. -Street parking may be hard at peak times but I didn't have a problem finding a spot right in front. Well that's all on my first day. I posted some pics too. If you decide to check it out make sure you get the Yelp Deal and say Mydao referred ya so I can get a free month! Although I haven't decided about joining yet since I still have my membership at my Crossfit gym, which I love, I just might join for the convenience. The price is reasonable enough, you can't go cheap on your health and I think the quality of the gym is worth it. I'm not a health freak. I tried AF out with a week pass, and it seems adequate. I'm kind of surprised that another reviewer said it wasn't cramped; it's fairly small and I thought it was actually kind of hard to get around when there's a moderate amount of people there. There's not really a ton of stuff to it, though the separate room for spin/yoga/whatever is nice. AF is pretty clean and not smelly as far as I could tell. The showers seemed clean enough to me, and there's more than enough lockers for storing your stuff. There's cleaning wipes spread about to sanitize the equipment. The squat rack is combined with the barbell bench in a manner that you need to fuss about with it which is a little annoying, and there's only two squat stations so you might need to wait. I think there's only three barbells total in the gym. There's also only 2x45lb and 2x25lb bumper plates that I can tell. I'm not terribly picky with machines, I've used maybe 3/4ths of them and they all worked fine, nothing broken or difficult to use. I had a question and asked someone with an AF shirt on, who I assume works there? Unless regular people like wearing branded shirts. I wanted to know if there was a second shoulder pad for doing squats and he said something like "What? You don't need that! You can fill out a suggestion form." which was wildly unhelpful. The other guy doing squats on the other machine found it for me. The place has mostly everything I want, which isn't a lot, and is open 24 hours which is a huge plus. But it's small and kinda cramped and not many amenities are provided. read more

I've trained at mode, the Y, golds and 24 hour fitness all close to where I live in Cap hill. Anytime fitness is by far the best fit I have found. They have all the equipment you could need to be a successful athlete, or be in shape. Many times gyms are very gimmicky and lack the basic necessities. This gym has bumper plates, free weights, a heavy bag, an open cardio room, kettle bells, all the tools for functional strength you could need and machines. The owners and trainers are very knowledgeable, fair and straightforward. They treat you like family there and you can tell they are on top of their game. They are always looking for ways to improve the gym, work with you and help you out in any way possible. These guys have definitely exceeded my expectations on every avenue so far and from the ideas I hear they have in the works, they will only get better. read more

After over a year, I'm still satisfied--mainly: convenient location, new (and relatively clean equipment), 24-hour a day convenience, and not super busy (at least mid-afternoon when I come). 4-5 stars if only the following: more stationary bikes, fixed leaky shower doors, and (I wish) a lap pool. Otherwise, there's certainly no reason to search elsewhere. It does look considerably more busy peak times--so check ahead. read more

I've been a member of this gym for almost 2 years and it honestly feels like a second home for me. The owners and staff treat you like part of the family and make an effort to know your name. They play fair and are really good at keeping all of the members on an equal playing field financially. Plus the owners are in the gym working out regularly so they know how important it is to keep the gym nice and the equipment in good shape. In short, I recommend this gym to friends that live in the neighborhood because to me, Anytime is a gym AND a community aimed toward keeping its members healthy and happy. read more

This gym is very small, needs a remodel and is dirty overall. I guess if you're in a pinch this will work but do yourself a favor and go to the Fremont gym. read more

I've been going to Anytime Fitness for about 2.5 months now, and it's been great. I love that 24 hour access lets me squeeze in a few late night and early morning workouts when I have a busy day schedule. The gym is also on the smaller side which I prefer--the space feels much more inviting. Along with this, the equipment is new, and there is a wide selection of machines and weights to choose from. More than anything else, the staff are friendly. I run into the owners every so often, and they are always very polite, cordial, and willing to help. In addition, I signed up for personal training with Alex Barriga who has been excellent to work with; he likes to see his clients succeed and will spend extra time helping them meet their workout and diet goals. To top it off, gym membership is $45/month, and personal training $60 a session--which is fairly competitive with other gyms. Overall, I feel like it's money well spent, and I like supporting a business that is dedicated to serving its customers. With the gym's convenience, equipment selection, friendly staff, and good price, I think it would be very hard to go wrong with Anytime Fitness in Capitol Hill. read more

Update: Dropping to two stars because it seems like they're back to standard sleazy gym billing tactics. I asked them to freeze my membership a few months ago, which they did (great), but then after their three month freeze limit, they just started billing me again without any confirmation or notification. I just happened to notice it on my credit card bill. I emailed a few days later asking to cancel my membership and to refund that month, but they refused to refund that month. This is a national gym chain with custom billing software--they could trivially send automatic billing notifications to people, but they deliberately choose not to. Pretty lame. Original review: I've been at this gym since they opened, and have had a pretty good experience so far. Everything I've used works fine, and the average member is pretty friendly. The owners seem pretty responsive to complaints, to requests for new accessory equipment (they've bought a bunch already), etc. I once emailed them about a billing mistake (their fault) and they resolved it within half an hour. The numbers worked out such that I actually owed them about $15, but they waived it without my asking, since they had made the mistake to begin with. Can't speak to the quality of personal trainers because, upon signing up, I immediately mentioned that I had no interest in using one. I've heard nothing since then, which is exactly what I want. I also haven't used the showers. They seem to have had some issues initially, though I think that's all dealt with. Be aware that, as with a lot of small gyms, peak time is fairly crowded. This is a non-issue for me since I'm usually there off-peak, but it could be really annoying if you need to work out at 6pm every night. Otherwise, you should just drop by and make up your own mind about whether the equipment meets your needs and whether the price is right. I'm not going to rate based on what exactly they have and don't have, because that's super-subjective and it's pretty obvious whether they have what you want or not. read more

I've been a member of AF since the beginning of the year and overall have had a very good experience. Pro: Really a wide variety of equipment for such a small space. I find I can do everything I need. In the morning there is plenty of room and it is often really quiet. Open 24 hrs - gotta be a plus. Owners are frequently there and are very friendly talking to customers. Very few meat-heads...almost everyone here is just doing their thing and getting a workout in. Alex and Heidi are the trainers to go with - both seem to do a great job with clients. Con: The space has to be a con. While it doesn't keep me from going there, this IS a small gym and can get crowded in the afternoons. Almost a con: The gym needs a DEEP clean. The weight machines have coatings of dust, the remote controls are frequently out of batteries, and it seems like who ever cleans the place does a "once over" but never really gets in and takes true pride in the little things. With cons I want to stress that I really love going to this gym. It isn't perfect, but I've been very happy there and will continue to be a member. read more

The gym itself is what you would expect for the price. Basic equipment, reasonably clean only a faint dirty gym odor. My husband is a member, so I've visited with him a few times and wanted to join so we could work out together. The only thing stopping me was the initiation fee, which I wanted to avoid since I already paid an initiation fee for another gym near my office. Anytime Fitness offered a "no initiation fee" deal in early January. I filled out the interest form online and called almost daily (6 times total) per instructions on the website to request an appointment to come in and sign up. I left voicemails asking for an appointment. I offered to pay/sign up online or over email/phone if they didn't have appointments available. I shared my contact info and offered to connect by text or email if they couldn't reach me by phone. No one EVER answered the phone. Weeks later, they finally reached out by email to see if I was still interested in signing up. They won't honor the "no initiation fee" deal and basically said "sorry, we were really busy during the promotion. But you should still sign up at the regular price." Super disappointed in the lack of follow-through. It's not my fault you're busy! This isn't the way to create trust and customer loyalty. read more

Great local gym. Small but has all the necessary equipment you need for a good workout . The gym is not crowded and that you have the ability to a customize workout with yoga spin or a customized workout using a video on demand system. The staff that is there during the day is really friendly and the personal trainers can help you with any of your workout goals. I belong to golds gym also, and i prefer going here because it's open 24 hours a day and there's really no crowded times at the gym, and less gym attitude. Get in get out get sweaty get pumped get healthy that's what this is all about. It's awesome that there's no high pressure to get you to sign up for trainers or for supplements or any variety of other things at other clubs do. Heck they let you go into the club when they're not even there and trust you to do your work out cuz they want you to succeed which is a pretty awesome way to get people to come back into the club over and over again. They keep adding new things all the time like free movie tickets I shout out for checking in a number of times during the month and the sense of community there is unlike any other gym I've experienced in Capitol Hill. Plus you can crank up whatever music you want to hear when there's no one around and dance like there's no one watching but they are on the cameras and I'm sure they laugh about it later god knows I would! So I guess that would be a good rating from me I think I think I just talked myself into a 5 stars for this review but it's well deserved club is great clean economical and convenient. I've been a member for over a year now and I love this gym! It's accessable (you can literally go there anytime with your provided keycard), thoughtfully laid out, and affordable. The staff are friendly and helpful and keep the place tidy, organized and running efficiently. I especially like that they offer a free fitness consult and guidance from personal trainers who aim to educate, not sell sell sell. I've definately made myself a home at anytimefitness and continue to make friends, learn nre skills, and build muscle. read more

I really liked this gym because I usually work out late at night or early in the morning between 10pm to 2am because I get out of work late. I like how small it was, yet it had a lot of equipment and was always clean at least when it wasn't busy, I never came in when it was busy. I wouldn't strongly steer a person toward or away from this gym. It's on the better side of average in my opinion, which is why I'm giving it 3 stars. From a policy and maintenance standpoint, it's quite average. There are machines which have been experiencing performance issues for years, and overall machine maintenance does not appear to be a high priority. There are limited services offered with a membership, however most additional services come at additional cost. While this is typical of mass market gyms, there are other gyms in the area that offer additional services, such as classes, for no or very little, additional cost. Additionally, like other mass market clubs, fees seem to appear from all angles, and are clearly profit centers. I would strongly prefer a club that had slightly higher dues, but made a genuinely fee-less experience. I understand that being a "better" club requires more money for investment into better machinery and such, and that money has got to come from somewhere, but following the mass market model is disappointing and antiquated. There are other successful gyms in the area that take different approaches. The training staff that I have interacted with over the years have been generally nice and seemingly knowledgeable. Some have tried to up-sell me on services, despite my being clear up front that I'm not interested in additional services if they come at additional cost. Most recently one particular trainer, Brynnen, has been exceptionally kind and helpful with my questions (of which I always have many, because I enjoy learning). In mass market gyms of this nature I've found it rare that trainers are genuinely motivated to help other people achieve goals. Too often it seems that trainers work at gyms in order to have a free gym membership. So, unfortunately, in my experience it has been unusual that trainers go above and beyond the norm to help customers achieve goals. That sort of commitment is typical at boutique and specialty gyms with more particular focuses, but not at gyms like this. However I experienced what I would call the above and beyond treatment personally with Brynnen and observed it as she worked with other clients as well. I hope for all customers' sakes that management keeps her and any others they may have like her. People and their ideas really are what differentiate businesses. My interactions with management have not been as stellar as I would have liked, though in fairness I have not been a stellar customer either, having had trouble with a late payment due to some personal complications. So in fairness, I expect they wouldn't rate me exceptionally either. Billing is handled by a 3rd party which is not very customer friendly. If I were to suggest one change to make immediately, it might be to switch away from that company, because if you ever have to interact with them, it's a frustrating experience - what I imagine a collection agency would be like to deal with. Ultimately, I currently have membership to 4 gyms in the area, and have tried a couple others as well. The all hours access is the primary value proposition at this club. If that's important, there aren't many options. If that's not important, I would suggest doing your due diligence before signing on. read more

This is the best gym The Saldana Brothers who run the place are the nicest guys. Always looking for ways to reinvest in the gym to make it better. In addition to that they keep an eye out for fun & active things to do outside the gym and usually give members discounts if they try them (Spartan Race, Tough Mudder, Saint Paddy's Day Dash, etc.) The place is always spotless and I've seen it get vacuumed up and down upwards of four times in a day.
