I've been coming back to this salon for a couple of years because of the quality of service. I always call ahead to make appointments, which is a very quick and simple process. I've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for service due to them being very accommodating and well organized with appointments. What I like about this salon is that the artists take their time in providing well done nail care and prioritize quality manicures and pedicures rather than simply getting customers in and out of the chair. As someone who likes Chinese nail trends, I like that they offer many polishes and designs that emulate that look. The salon is also very clean and the tools are well kept. read more

I had a gel pedicure with Yuki and she did such a beautiful job. Everything was really clean, neat, and detailed, and she made sure the shape and polish looked perfect. My nails came out exactly how I wanted. The whole appointment felt very relaxing and I can tell she really takes pride in her work. Definitely coming back to see Yuki again! I'm super picky when it comes to precision & shape, since i usually opt for a very basic neutral solid color with no design, so its easy for it to look bad with poor technique. This is my third and final time here. The first couple of times I got solid colored gel. I figured I would try something different so I got gold chrome French tip. They did advise me it was going to be $30 extra for the chrome. The three times that I have gotten work done here there was always something off or missing . Either they didn't take off the cuticle or they messed up on the nail or I got cut. Also, all three times when I've paid I was made to feel that I had to tip and if I didn't tip, I would just get asked one more time about the tip. Whoever is at the front counter really pushes tips and it makes you feel like you're forced to give a tip. All the three times I don't think that they deserved a tip. I paid for the service, but I wasn't overly happy with the work. On this third and final time I got chrome French tip . They charged me $205 for Manny Petty chrome French tip. It's ridiculous how much I was charged. I was not expecting to be charged so much. Even when making the mass afterwards per their website, it should've been way less. She also mentioned that because I'm getting a combo I would get some kind of a discount, but apparently I didn't get it. I guess I should've spoken up but when they were done, I just really just wanted to go home. I paid half cash and half on card and because I paid with some cash she gave me a five dollar discount. Even though all three times I've been here were not to my satisfaction. I did tip twice. I went to AO Nails 3 times. First visit was great. Second visit wasn't - rough handling, bad communication, and my pedi left bumps. She got frustrated when my fingers got hot lol I honestly didn't want to go back, but I gave it one last shot because they take ClassPass. On the second visit, I saw another customer use ClassPass and pay extra for add-ons, and I even confirmed with the cashier that this was allowed. So I booked again. My original 11am Saturday appointment got moved to 1pm at their request, and I rearranged my whole day for it. I show up at 1pm, show them what I want, and they immediately shut it down. No designs, no hard gel - "because it's ClassPass." This was never mentioned beforehand and completely contradicted what I was told before. When I questioned it, they were rude and told me to call the owner, who had the same attitude. I ended up leaving and going elsewhere. After that, I had to contact ClassPass for a refund and then somehow got charged a no-show fee on Christmas morning. This happened because they marked me as no-show. Overall, super unprofessional, inconsistent rules, and not worth the hassle. I wouldn't recommend this place at all. read more

They were thoughtful and upfront on how much time the requested design would take and worked with me every step of the way to make sure I would love end design. We started right on the dot for my appointment time and finished just under 2 hours which is the typical time you can expect for refill and design. I'm last time I came i had an appointment in the evening so I forgot to take a picture/video. I remembered this time though . I had Ella today and we went for autumn vibe (orange and pumpkins) but still a little spooky (spiders). Since Halloween is over we went with gold accents, I really like the subtleness. read more

Picked this place due to their convenient hours (they're open from 10am - 10pm!). Location is great, plenty of parking and place was clean. Customer services not-so-great, when I walked in there were 2 techs on their phone, they saw me walk in but took them a few minutes to greet and acknowledge me. This has been the worst quality gel manicure I've received. My thumb was chipped by the third day and a couple other nails by the end of the first week. Usually gel manicures last about 3 weeks for me. I do recall them saying they do free touch ups up to a week from when you get them done but unfortunately I was out of town and was unable to return. Would only return if I was on a time crunch to get my nails done. read more

These reviews are WILD. I made an appt for a fill and a gel pedi since all of these reviews seemed to really hype this place up. I arrived just after 7 on a Monday evening. The place is FILTHY. The floors, the walls, the doors, the chairs. Dirty UV lamps haphazardly stacked on eachother throughout the salon. I was seated and they were asking me to pick colors, which services I wanted, etc,. Their color books are gross and dirty, brands I have never seen before and they were being weird about letting me look through them. I had to ask the lady who was with another client what the prices would be, and I was given various quotes for the services. After sitting in the chair for a few minutes before they started, I had decided that I would never come have to this place for a full, so I decided to leave before getting anything done. I am absolutely shocked by these reviews, as this was one of the worst nail salons I've ever been in. read more

AO nails is my most favorite salon of all time in San Diego. I love my nails to be dainty, natural looking and of course cute. AO hits all of that. Their workers are also so very nice and they are very attention to detail! My cateye nail set got so many compliments! I love their operating hours as well! Who else closes at 10?! Tl;dr - One of the highest quality nail salons I've been to as of late - I've had my gel x nails for almost a month and they're still intact. Ask for Kiki, she's the sweetest!! I scheduled a super last minute nail appointment (like, as in less than 12 hours before I landed in SD) for a wedding and was so glad to see AO Nails had availability. I usually opt for gel x nails and scheduled an appointment with Kiki. The online scheduling portal was relatively easy to use. Kiki was wonderful and incredibly sweet, making sure I was comfortable along every step. She was also very accommodating for last minute designs I wanted to include as well. I've gotten gel x nails at different salons and I think AO Nails has to be the best deal for quality and price. For gel x + 4 designs I paid about $90 and the growth has been seamless. I'll be back when I'm in the area :~) read more

I'm not one to get my nails done very often, but once in a while I'll splurge. I don't do acrylics, and usually stick to a basic manicure and pedicure. My mom and I both wanted to have a day together so I spent a bunch of time researching and happened upon AO Nails. I called the number on their website and was able to book an appointment for that weekend. We struggled to find the spot as it's tucked away in a gated shopping center between tons of warehouse type buildings. When we arrived, there was only one or two customers there, and quite a few employees waiting. We walked in and immediately were greeted, and my mom was sent to start her pedicure. We wanted to get our nails done together but for the most part it was one after the other, so we were apart. The guy who did my moms pedicure didn't seem to be talkative. My mom tried to let him know her toenails were already short because she runs and that she didn't want them shorter, but he continued to clip her nails anyway. At one point my mom made a yelping noise and I asked if she was ok, and she had said he had hurt her. She said it out loud and he didn't apologize. It was very clear she was hurt, so it wasn't a matter of language barriers. When I finally was called over to get my nails started, my mom was practically done with her whole manicure/pedicure and had to wait for me. For my nails, I asked for a simple design done with gel. I've done this style before at other places so i figured it would be ok. When I had called to make the appointment I was quoted about $85 for my pedicure and gel manicure. I thought this price was pretty high (last time elsewhere it cost me $70 max), but I figured it was because it had been a while since I'd done my nails, and that this place must be good. You can understand my shock when I went to pay and my receipt was $105, a whole $20 more than I was quoted. (My moms mani/pedi was $50 and that was with no polish, and they didn't do the typical services covered with a pedi that she was expecting). I didn't want trouble so I paid and left, but I feel as though I should've said something. I don't know if it was an accidental overcharge or if their prices are just that outrageous but that made me not want to return. With all that being said, my nail tech did a really good job with the design I brought forward. I appreciate how cute my nails are, I just won't be returning. read more

Place is super cute and everyone is very nice. Rose did a good job on my regular manicure. Reason for 4 stars is price for what you get. My manicure was basically just a color change, no lotion, oil or massage so my hands were very dry after. My pedicure was just ok. I got french tip on my toes and they looked mostly ok, but I paid for the jelly (specifically because it came with 10 minutes massage) and she barley scrubbed my feet and I can't remember if she even put lotion on (lack of any massage). On top of that, I was charged $15 for french tip when most places charge $8 at the most for french tip. Again sweet ladies and nice place, but I probably won't go back just because of the value of what you get for higher prices. read more

I had been going to one of these salons for at least 3 years. Her suite is currently located in the plaza across H-Mart and 24 Hour Fitness off of Balboa Ave in a secured building on the second floor. Her suite is cozy for Miss Kelly, her client, and the equipment she needs. I highly recommend Ms. Kelly and her services - both to those who are sensitive to pain, and even the "veterans" who have learned to "tough it out." Before booking, please take the time to read her website. You will notice that her pricing is higher than the regular waxing/sugaring establishments. This is because she takes her time prepping you and doing the wax itself, which is also why your appointment will be longer (this varies, of course). This is why the pain level is much more tolerable, and makes the price worth it. It has been a while since my first appointment with Ms. Kelly, but I have returned several times since. I unfortunately had to pause my appointments with her, but await the day that I can resume my appointments. Ms. Kelly is a gem and I CANNOT recommend her enough!

At the end of the appointment, she told the receptionist to add on a charge for inner thighs which ended up being $26 in addition to the original service I booked. If I had known that I would need to pay $26 for less than a minute of waxing, I would have declined, so I would have appreciated her being clear about the extra cost.

She invited me back the next day, apologized sincerely, and went above and beyond to fix the issue with microblading. The results were incredible -- my brows look natural, I get compliments all the time, and no one can tell they were bladed. Aneta truly cares about her clients and stands behind her work. I'm honestly baffled by the 4.2-star rating for AO Nails because my experience was nothing short of terrible. I decided to give them a try for Gel X nails, something I'd never had before, hoping for a long-lasting and beautiful result. Unfortunately, my nails barely lasted a week before they started popping off. To make matters worse, the little gemstones they added began falling off within just five days of getting them done. I can't help but feel that Gel X is a shortcut for lazy nail technicians who don't want to put in the effort of applying acrylic. The outcome of my nails was far from what I had expected, especially considering the hefty price tag. I ended up paying over $100, including a tip, for nails that had no polish, just a base coat with some gems haphazardly attached. Adding to my disappointment, the nail technician didn't utter a single word to me throughout the entire process. It's one thing to offer late hours, but it's meaningless if the quality and customer service are subpar. I would strongly advise against visiting AO Nails. I certainly won't be returning, and I wouldn't recommend this establishment to anyone. Save your time and money and find a salon that values its customers and delivers on quality. read more

The govt finally lifted orders for nails salons to open! After shopping around couple places, stumbled upon this gem place that is newly open. I was able to make an appointment with ease during COVID-19. When I walked in, the place was beautiful and the tables and chairs were all socially distanced. The worker was wearing masks and taking precaution during this pandemic. Free WiFi all around and they even let me play my music through their wireless speakers in store. I felt very comfortable and safe through the whole process. The pricing were very reasonable and even had a discounted rate during this pandemic to accommodate. They took the time and did not feel rushed to rush me out of the store to move onto the next appointment.
