I haven't eaten here in person. Just ordered for the first time and so far I have no complaints. My foods were really fresh and well prepared. The delivery came pretty fast. They made a lot of accommodations for me payment wise. (Let us pay with 4 cards) I had a Kani Roll, shrimp tempura roll and bluefin tuna roll. My favorite was the Kani (crab), tuna then shrimp. Very happy we finally ordered from Aoyu! It has been recommended to me by many people in my building. The other day I decided to order a late lunch. My husband doesn't like sushi so I ordered him the shrimp & vegetable tempura lunch. I decided on a couple of rolls. I liked the fact that we get soup & salad as I like them both. The food came quick & was hot. I was very impressed with how it was packaged, nothing spilled. Very large portions. I had lunch( for the next day. Best sushi in the Bronx! When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the beautiful Japanese style decor. The place has a very upscale look-very crisp and modern. It looks more like a restaurant you would find in downtown Manhattan, I almost forgot I was in the Bronx. I came in for lunch, after a co-worker recommend I try the place out. I was not disappointed. They great lunch selections, in great portions. I chose a lunch special, which contained a California roll, Miso soup, Chicken Teriyaki with white rice, Gyoza (pork dumpling) and salad. The food was fantastic! The sushi was very fresh, and everything had such great flavor. It was such a generous offering for only $11.50 (see photo). I went here on a Monday for an early dinner for three and I left so pleased. First of all, I love sushi restaurants but I never leave with a full stomach without having to order countless plates and sushi rolls (and in return burning through my wallet.) However, that was not the case here, I spent a reasonable amount of money and left with a full (and happy) stomach. The rolls are reasonably priced and carry a lot of goodness within them that makes for more than enough! The service was very speedy and the servers were nice. The rolls themselves were absolutely delicious and fresh. We also had calamari as an appetizer which was very good, one of the best I've had in a long time. We have not eaten out much in Riverdale since we moved here, aside from the occasional pizza. So we took a chance on this place and are we glad we did! The decor is lovely, the service is charming and attentive, and the food is delicious. I generally avoide sushi restaurants, because I am a vegetarian and also gluten-intolerant (no soy sauce, then). However, the waitstaff was extremely understanding and accomodating. I got myself outside of some edamame, warm mushroom salad, broccoli prepared without soy sauce, and mango mochi ice cream and rolled out a happy man. I'll let my wife review the sushi items another time, but she was definitely happy with her dumplings and tempura. Good work, Aoyu! read more

Went here with my family after reading the reviews and will never return! I ordered chicken teriyaki and it was grossly undercooked. I told one of the employees and they brought out another dish ten minutes later. Secondly, I ordered a diet coke and my glass was 75% ice and rest diet coke. After drinking the little coke that they gave me, I asked for more. Unbeknown to me, I was being charged $2.00 dollars for every glass they were bringing out. When I looked at my bill, I was charged for 4 diet cokes when I actually consumed one can, they also charged me for the full price of the undercooked poultry that could have left me very sick. For one the service was okay the waitress was quite busy and so when we received our bill we decided to pay with our card and left the service tip in cash with the manager. We left her a 20% tip and on our way home then half way down the block the same waitress ran after us and complained that we did not sign our cc bill and pointed at the tip line on the bill??!? My husband and I were Flabbergasted!! For sure we signed the bill I saw him do because I teased him about wanting to learn his signature. I jokingly told my husband I wanted forge his signature so I could purchase myself something expensive (jokingly). The waitress then proceeds to show us the bill and points at the tip line which we crossed out since we had tipped her in cash. We were SHOCKED and speechless at that very moment the manager yells to the employee in their language and the waiter runs back to the restaurant!!! Totally....completely disgusted!!! I had the $30.00 Omakase Dinner. It was outstanding with melt in your mouth Toro Tuna, Salmon and Yellowtail (Hamachi). Their menu says fish is air shipped from Tokyo Tsukiki Market. Not your typical gas treated tastless pink pre-frozen Chinese sushi joint tuna. I have been eating sushi since the late 1970s in Manhattan and Westchester. This quality of fish is not obtainable outside of Manhattan and perhaps two places in Westchester. I was there on a Monday and this charming little restaurant was not busy. I was very impressed by their high quality sushi. We found this place on yelp after visiting the New York botanical garden. When I first came here, I didn't have any high expectation though the reviews are good. I've been to places with great reviews but I was totally disappointed. So now I tried not to expect too much but Aoyu Sushi rocks! The restaurant is very clean and the fish is super fresh. I had the grilled salmon, peanut avocado and spicy salmon rolls the first time I was here. They were all great. Yesterday we were here the second time. I ordered omakase sushi. They were fantastic. The eel was the best I've ever had. It's a little crispy but not over cooked. I also love the oyster and king salmon. The miso soup they served here is not too salty which I really like. The dessert I had was fried banana. It was banana tempura, vanilla ice cream with caramel sauce, whipped cream and a plum. It was not overly sweet and ended my meal perfectly. 30 dollars for such high quality sushi is so reasonable. If I got the same thing in manhattan, I would probably end up paying at least 50 or 60 dollars. I can't wait to go back to Aoyu Sushi though I live so far away. Just need to make up an excuse to visit the botanical garden again and come over here for lunch. read more

Really great food at reasonable prices with excellent service. I've had this at the restaurant and via delivery, and the experience for both was swoonworthy. Amazing, creative, delicious rolls (I also have to call out American Dream as an amazing roll), light tempura, excellent duck, truffled appetizers, gently sweet seaweed salad - I could go on and on. I was thrilled with both experiences. Service: when I went there the servers made us feel special, and delivery was super fast. One word of warning - the shumai aren't great. They're standard, bought-in-a-bag dumplings & not that tasty in comparison. Everything else, though, including the gyoza, was amazing. I will probably never go to Kodama again. read more
