I had a bad experience with AP Intego, they were not clear with me and were pretty aggressive on the phone. It felt as if they didn't even want me to work with them. Ended up calling a larger insurance company that explained things clearly to me and who now has my business. I spoke with two reps but don't want to assume the whole company is bad. UPDATE: I received my COI and Sherry was very quick and pleasant. I will now upgrade to five stars as promised. If you want to avoid the hassles I went though I suggest you do not use their email portal and instead call their NY office directly. UPDATE: Have been speaking with a rep named Sherry who is trying to take care of me. We are still working on it, but I have faith now that my COI will finally be produced. I have updated to four starts, when I receive the correct COI, I will update to five. Have been waiting ten days for a COI. Have not had anyone respond to me since the initial request. I have emailed them through their portal for the last nine days with absolutely no response. They should be ashamed of themselves! I finally got thorough to them only to hear they were at lunch till 1:30. No way to leave a message or callback number. Just don't. When Next bought them out, everything went downhill. read more

I cannot imagine what it would be like to actually need to file a claim. Should be Negative 5 Stars. They underquote you to get a good deal on worker's comp but will nickel and dime you and rip you off at the final end. Will be more expensive than with other carriers in the long run. They are scam artists. They will even charge a premium for excluded owners and voided payroll. Should use State Farm or legit carriers for worker's comp. Avoid them like the plague. They only take bank payments and will continuously rip you off as much as they can. To be honest I am not a big fan of this company. I was told my premium would be a certain amount, they ended up charging more. When I called to get the correction it's been months and still no resolution. The payments are supposed to be withdrawn out of my account and now I just got a cancellation notice for non-payment. I am still making payments through the payroll on QB so not sure how I have a non-payment. They actually are supposed to be owing me money. Now reading their reviews I see I am not the only one having this issue with cancellation due to non-payment when I am actually making the payments. read more

Avoid this company at all costs! Poor customer service, horrible internal systems... We had a policy and they have no method to tell you when to renew. Then when I tried to renew they put us through the wringer...took 4 hours on the phone to sort a simple payment out...Then...I could NOT PAY THEM! I had to go to another site and phone number to pay AmTrust financial...I got kicked out of there phone system several times and had to call back multiple times over multiple days. Finally, I got someone to take my payment and guess what...their system was down. They could NOT take payment over the phone. Then I called back the next day and made my payment....WAIT FOR IT...I just got a note saying I did not pay enough and that my policy is in jeopardy...these guys are a clown car full of idiots trying to save cents on every transaction....AVOID AT ALL COSTS! read more

I would never work with this company again. I signed up for worker's compensation insurance for my two employee home preschool with AP Intego via Square. It was easy to sign up, and seemed easy to cancel my policy when we closed the school due to COVID-19. However, over a year after we closed our doors, I received a call from a debt collector on AP Intego's behalf saying I owed $2400+, even though I had a pay-by-month plan, wasn't behind on any payment, and never had a worker's comp claim. To clear my alleged debt, I went through a complicated audit and provided all the tax forms they required, all of which clearly show my use of the service. I needed to get workers compensation insurance for a client that has thirty employees. I have always dreaded this process and frankly find visiting the dentist for a root canal more appealing. I called a couple of people around the San Francisco Bay Area and did not receive a return call. Apparently, there is not a large "profit margin" in the Workers' Compensation area. I was referred to AP Intego Insurance Group, LLC in East Rochester New York (hereafter "AP"). They offer pay-as-you go workers' compensation insurance so I decided to take a chance on an insurance broker clear across the country so my client would not have to come up with a large up-front payment. My representative was Lori Scipioni. She was fast, nice, extremely competent and really personable. I sent my initial email after normal business hours. When I returned to my office the next morning I had a response from Lori clearly spelling out: 1. The information needed; 2. The forms that needed to be executed; and 3. The procedures that would follow I did my part and my exasperated client had workers' compensation coverage within the hour. Reading "A Cat in The Hat" would have been more a more difficult task! After I got the coverage I went to AP's website and it stated: "At AP Intego, we know that you have choices, and in order to secure your business we need to do things differently from our competition. It boils down to this: Lightning fast response, innovative top-flight products and a powerful distribution platform. Call it our vision. " Suffice it to say, this is a company that performs exactly as advertised. If you are in the market for workers' compensation I would give them a try. You can do everything via email, Lori will make the entire process easy and your client (or boss) will think you are a God! read more

SEVERELY DISSAPOINTED!! Changed to an S-Corp and was never informed I had to file with the state "AS AN OWNER" so I wouldn't be charged for Workers comp. One year later I am informed via audit that I owe almost $5k to the insurance company again "AS THE OWNER". They were no help in resolving. Had to change the settings in my payroll and API failed to keep it set correctly during change and no WC was coming out of payroll for over a month. Was then dropped by insurance carrier. Now has to reset again and back pay again.- Still not being withdrawn after requesting SEVERAL weeks ago now. read more

If I would have given this review last year, it would have been 5 stars. AP Intego's Pay-As-You-Go Worker's Comp plan through QuickBooks is great. The rates are very competitive, and you can't beat the convenience of "paying as you go" so I was very happy. Then this happened... I'll TRY to be as brief as possible: As a part of their pay as you go program, AP Intego pays our W/C Ins on our behalf. Somewhere along the way, they stopped making those payments, and our W/C was canceled due to non-payment. I sent 4 emails, and left 2 voice mails with AP Intego (both to my Account Manager Andrea, and then the Customer Service number) and did not receive a single response back. No phone calls, no response emails, nothing. After a few days of trying to contact AP Intego, I was able to make contact with The Hartford directly and they confirmed that the error was with AP Intego and not us, so they reinstated our policy. (Thank You, Hartford!) Then yesterday, literally 5 weeks later, I finally got a response back from AP Intego letting me know that they are debiting my account for $XXXX TODAY, and that they will now request reinstatement from The Hartford. Really?! Where have you been? Failing to make the appropriate payments and allowing my insurance to get canceled was bad enough, but failing to return a single call or email is completely unacceptable, and should never happen. I just had all of my commercial insurance coverage (umbrella, professional, crime, etc.) done through AP Intego. Nancy Yang was amazing. I was trying to get it done through Wells Fargo (as I had in the past) but they were dragging their feet and being unresponsive (I tried two different Wells Fargo offices in Arizona and Florida and in both cases, not very professional). Nancy got all of it done within THREE days!!! She is very professional and easily accessible. THANK YOU Nancy! Don't use this company ro merge stuff with Quickbooks!!! They raise your rates after the first year and you don't realize it because it is drawn weekly. I just found out that they also charge for the weekly withdraw. The premium paid to the insurance company was about 25% less than what they took from my checking account. BE AWARE!!! read more

Business Owners - BE AWARE of this company! You probably know this company because you were referred by Intuit (Quickbooks). Usually I don't like to write bad reviews but I hope this review can help other small business owners. Pay-As-You-Go or Installment Plan = HIGH FEES or INTEREST. Pay As You Go plan ends up pay THOUSANDS MORE than the original proposal quote. And not due to an audit or increased payroll. (Original quote for us was $4600 annual, but after our careful review of the 24 ACH debits from our bank account, the total was over $9300! Not a typo!) This is not due to any increased payroll or staff change.) We shopped around and end up going back to The Hartford (one of the largest insurance companies...Just Google largest workers comp companies) for only $2200. Even at $4500 quote, PAY IT OFF AT ONCE. They will pitch you better cash flow because you're paying as you go...but remember there is no free lunch...you'll somehow be paying loan shark surcharges/interest/fees! They will debit your account like crazy and over classify your staff into a higher class rate! And over estimate your gross payroll total. You're better off shopping around for a policy and pay it off at once on your credit card and even if you have to pay the credit card bill in monthly payments, it will be much cheaper than using Pay-As-You-Go. We have cancelled our policy and gone with another company. And now they are telling us because our policy renews itself (WTF we cancel on the same renewal month) so we will for sure be hit with a large penalty fee. Stay away from AP, stay away from FirstComp. We have the worst experice with them in the 11 years we've been in business. Shop around! Liberty Mutual, Travelers, and The Hartford are the largest companies...we end up going with The Hartford and save THOUSANDS a year. read more

I got "stuck" with AP Intego, because they are the only "pay as you go" work comp company that works with Quickbooks on line payroll. I say "works with", because they download all your payroll data and take care of the payments for your actual insurance carrier. So far, So good. Here's the rub. Even though you enter all the information about the employee in to the Quickbooks on line service, AP Intego conveniently ignores the class code of the new employees, and defaults EVERY new employee to the highest possible rate. My office assistant (sharpens pencils, data entry and gets lunch) was billed out at apprentice carpenter rate! $176 in gross pay cost me $43.09? It's a scam. The only way to get the rate changed is to call them. After about 7 levels of phone tree, you will eventually get voice mail. They are on the East coast and I am on the West, so they are open from 6:00 AM to 1:00 PM for me. Good luck getting that call back. It won't happen. read more

I have the same issues others have had. We use them as they are offered through Intuit's Pay-As-You-Go program. However, new employees are often entered at the wrong rate, despite my entering them correctly. But, the worst part is - I emailed them to clarify. I received one non-conclusive email from an employee there. In responding to her, with further questions and requests for confirmation, I received no response from her direct email, and from the general contact "info@" email from their website (indicating that is the email to direct questions to). I literally have a string of following up emails with no response. My emails indicate my displeasure at not receiving a response and just request a simple response/confirmation - and still no response! Horrible customer service. read more

Disgusting scum of the earth company. They were recommended to me for both Disability and WC, and now I'm screwed. They also spam me once every morning with notices that I haven't notified them of any of the information that I ALREADY GAVE THEM. What happened? Well, here's the exact email I sent to my payroll specialist this evening: "Hi Ladies, Can someone please help me straighten this out?? I'm quite confused here and need to straighten out my Workers' Comp and Disability policies, namely who my brokers and providers are for each. This evening I received a letter of cancellation in the mail from The Hartford (first contact from them; they claim they're my disability provider). I also have no idea who my Workers' Comp provider is, nor have I received a bill from one. I also received a bill from First Rehab, due June 21, which I think is my disability provider. I pride myself on being a responsible business owner, and right now I'm feeling quite helpless. I enrolled with AP Intego because my new payroll system integrated with them, and what a mistake! No communication on the front side, and even worse communication after the account was up & running. On 3 different occasions, I had to send, and then resend 2 more times my emails asking questions, and asking if they've received my email where I needed my questions answered. After 3 failed email attempts, I would have to call in. No one seem to be bothered by the lack of responsiveness. I have no idea how they stay in business, possibly the worst customer service I've dealt with. read more

So I purchased Workers comp through an online payroll company that uses AP Integro as their workers comp company. I was glad to know that my business financial filings and Insurance premiums were being handled. fast forward 18 months, and I see several large deductions from my business checking account. When I look into it, I am told that my name was never added to the policy, even though I am the ONLY employee, so they took a years worth of premiums they never billed me for. This was absolutely the most unprofessional thing I have ever dealt with in 16 years of being in business! I don't know what would have happened if there was an actual workers comp claim during that time, but I have a feeling, I would not have had any coverage. Regardless, this was a mess. the only contact that was made before taking the money out of my checking, was an e-mail to a defunct e-mail account.
