I had an excellent experience with APV Construction Corporation when upgrading my central AC system. My old unit from 1999 had been out of commission for years, and when I started shopping around for a replacement, it felt like most companies either weren't interested in doing a central AC reinstall or were quick to push me toward a split system. While splits are cheaper, I didn't want new condensers blocking my walkway, and I preferred reusing my existing ductwork and electrical setup. APV was the standout. They gave me a straightforward and reasonable quote for restoring the central AC--only slightly more than the split-system options I was being offered, especially considering how expensive other companies have become. They also partner with Hawaii Energy, which helped me get an additional discount. That made the decision easy. From the moment Jordan provided the quote, the entire process moved fast. Lyrissa handled the scheduling and had the installation booked within a couple of weeks. In total, everything was completed in right around two weeks from quote to installation, which was impressive. Mark, Trenton, and Juel arrived right before Thanksgiving to do the install. They were prompt, professional, and efficient. My home is wonderfully cool again, and we enjoyed a very comfortable Thanksgiving because of them. Our central a/c suddenly broke one day. It literally stopped blowing cold air, and we noticed once the thermostat read 84F that we were in trouble. Our central a/c was purchased in 2018 by the previous home owner. We assumed the warranty was long done by then (more on that later). We had another a/c company take a look. The other company charged us $150 for a troubleshooting call. First they said it was low refrigerant and then next they said it was the compressor. They gave two quotes: one for $7,500 to replace the outdoor condenser unit and the other option was for $13,600 to replace all indoor/outdoor units. I really felt this company "ultimate"-ly tried to rip us off (read between the quotations to figure out the name or just message me). We were so close to just going with that company as they were widely available schedule wise, but something told me to get a second opinion. Thank God we went with APB. I was not there for the troubleshooting call with APB or the follow up repair appointment--but they basically charged us about $1k total for the total repair. It would've cost less had the original company not botched and overcharged our system. The first company overfilled refrigerant, which overcharged our system and likely caused the motor to fail. APB replaced the indoor motor and removed and replaced the correct amount of refrigerant back into the system. The first company insisted it was the compressor (which btw is extremely expensive to replace), and never once did they mention the motor (a lot cheaper to replace). Their first quote of $7,500 to replace the OUTDOOR unit would not even have fixed the issue as the problem was the INDOOR motor. That's literally almost $14k that we saved by not going through the original company. We were actually considering replacing the entire indoor and outdoor system for that price with the first company. What truly stood out to us was that APB actually took the time to research whether our unit was still under warranty. Turns out, even though our unit was purchased in 2018-it came with a ten year warranty which apparently is super easy to look up online. The first company told me our unit was well out of warranty just due to its age, so they obviously didn't care to check online or straight up withheld that information. The cost of the parts and motor were covered by our existing warranty. We literally just paid for labor and they fixing the botched work of the first company. We will only be using APB going forward for all a/c needs. Mark was our technician. read more

Just in time for this summer heat Last year my split system AC started to leak on the inside of our house, and finally after 27 years she no longer worked I researched best brands, models and companies before reaching out to APB construction. Out of all the yelp and google reviews this one stood out to me. I inquired to get a quote and received a call same day to go over pricing. The call was the perfect balance of inquiry, salesman ship but most importantly true aloha spirit. I got other quotes all similar in pricing but didn't have the same experience I did with my initial quote call. Because of the customer experience I chose this company. I reached out to inquire about scheduling an install and the hard part was done for me, this company truly made the whole process seem less. They removed my old system and quickly installed my new one all in the same day. We had gone without the AC for a few months and it was so nice to finally be cooling off the house. Our AC system stopped abruptly 10/14/24, and when you have a 2yo, living in Ewa, 90+ degrees and no wind...No one is having fun lol. I messaged APB through Yelp and they got back to me quickly. Larissa was very friendly and professional as she explained the possible charges after the tech would make an assessment. They had an opening that day but my schedule didn't work, so they were able to fit me in their schedule first thing the following morning. Trent (Trenton) came on time (earlier in fact) and was an outstanding braddah throughout the whole service. Before he started he confirmed the reason for my call and went to do his assessment. He took no more than 5 minutes, came back and explained that Ants had made a colony in the pipes and created a clog which triggered the safety switch. At that point he explained that the charges would change from a trouble call to a normal HVAC Service (which we were very thankful for as were expecting to be shelling out a lot thinking the AC system needed a major repair.) Trent does very honest and detailed work, and explains things easily and professionally. We will definitely be using APB HVAC for our annual service. Sent request for quote on Yelp at 0626, 16OCT. Lyrissa from APB Construction HVAC Division first to respond of the 5 that Yelp notified. She responded via Yelp at 0732 (1hr 6 minutes). She followed up with phone call at 0808 and informed me that she had one availability at 1200, 16OCT and another at 0800, 17OCT. I replied that I was waiting on another contractor to give me a quote before I decided and I would let her know. I returned Lyrissa's call at 1011 and asked for the 1200 appointment. Unfortunately it was taken, but the 0800, 17OCT appointment was still available. Scheduled to have Mark arrive at 0800, 17OCT to troubleshoot and possibly repair. By this time, the other contractor that I was waiting on to respond had not contacted me to schedule an appointment (the owner had responded via email at 0806 that a tech would be contacting me, but when I made the phone call to Lyrissa at 1011, that tech had not contacted me). 10/17 According to the reminder, arrival time is 0800-1000. Mark arrived @ 0800. Very friendly. Very knowledgeable. If I had questions, he took to the time to explain and answer. I like this guy. He definitely made the effort to show that he wasn't just trying to take my money; he wanted to show his honesty and integrity. Mark found a refrigerant leak in vicinity of the compressor or evaporator coil. Based on the unit being ~15 years old, Mark recommends replacing the unit. Gut quote was $2k-$2.6k and could do the work next week (week of 10/21). Mark completed work around 0850, and had a card reader so that I could pay by credit card. Called Lyrissa and gave her the requirements for replacement, asking for a quote. Cheapest and earliest wins the contract. Quote received @ 0931, 17OCT. ~$2500 and could do it on 24OCT. Based on quick responsiveness and genuine respect towards the customer, I highly recommend APB. If the install of the replacement goes as well as this troubleshooting, then definitely a 5 star rating. I'll update this review IF the install doesn't go as well. read more

They also came during the expected time arrival and I was charged $100 less than what I anticipated. The person that cleaned my units was friendly and kind enough to let me know how to maintain my AC and tips to make it cooler for me to use it. I would recommend this company. I have a Daikin split system that had been installed by another company around a year and a half ago and wanted to have it go through a maintenance to clean and make sure everything is okay. APB folks were very helpful and I was able to schedule a visit easily. They have a nice system that emails you and reminds you. On the day of the maintenance I got a call from Mark telling me he could come earlier if that's okay and I told him sure! Mark was professional, kept his work area really clean, and was cool. We had cleared out the areas near the AC units so he had room to work. It took around two hours and after seeing all the parts they took out to clean, I'm really glad I didn't try to do this myself! Check out my photos of how dirty the fans were, I totally didn't expect it to be that dirty!! Mark showed me what it looked like after and it seemed new again. After putting everything back Mark blasted the AC as cold as it can go and it was colder than it had felt before and quieter too! There was a short form I had to fill out for a $75 instant rebate off the cost of the servicing and that was it! After scoping out the reviews for different HVAC repair services, APB Construction HVAC Division looked like a no frills, get it done kind of company. We had a leak for our chill water unit and wasn't sure what to do. It was easy to schedule through their online booking system and someone eventually called to ask more questions and book an appointment. They even sent email reminders which was helpful! Our technician, Kevin, was very friendly throughout the whole process. Told him the problems, checked it out, and immediately knew the issue. He got to work on fixing it all while chatting with me and explaining what the issue with our system was. In and out within the hour. Our estimate on the initial phone call was what was charged and nothing extra like other companies. I had quotes from 2 other companies and while they came out to be about the same I ended up going with APB because I really liked their customer service. Larissa in the office is great. Top tier customer service. And the technicians that came to the house to service the ACs were also amazing (man, I wish I remembered their names because they were awesome). They were very good at communicating, very professional and friendly, and they were transparent about cost, and options for repairs vs replacement. The work they did was for a rental property and sometimes I feel wary about having subcontractors work on houses when I'm not there to watch them. I felt very comfortable about letting these guys do their thing. They immediately gave me a call when they were pau and gave me the breakdown of everything they did and what I need to know/ tell the tenants. The reviews are true! Quick response from APB when I requested for a quote. In fact, they were one of the very few that responded. I got a call shortly after entering all the details. I got scheduled out a few weeks later, and at a time that fit my schedule. Mahalo to Emil at APB for getting the job done right and on time. Emil was early and very punctual. He had all the equipment needed to get my 2 split A/C units cleaned. Emil gave me a courtesy call in the days before the actual job to make sure everything was all set with my building. Not many contractors were willing to service my particular building and A/C units so the fact that APB was willing to do it was also a plus. APB Construction is a licensed contractor in the State of Hawaii, and they don't have any complaints on their record. I checked. They were able to schedule my routine AC maintenance for the following week, even though I had indicated that I'd like to have it done within 2 weeks. Kevin, the worker performing the maintenance, was courteous, professional, and efficient in his work. He took care not to damage the furniture that I wasn't able to move out of his way and the carpet and such. Their prices were competitive, and they let me know that some of the work qualified for a Hawaii Energy rebate and helped me complete the forms. They're going to process the paperwork for me, so they reflected the rebate amount on my bill, saving me money. Several of the contractors I had contacted said that they wouldn't work on Panasonic split units, but APB said "no problem". I've already put a reminder in my calendar for scheduling my AC maintenance with them again next year. I should also note that they accept credit cards, so I didn't have to write a check. read more

We were looking for a reliable and trustworthy AC company who won't give us the run around and who won't waste our time and money. APB CONSTRUCTION CORP HVAC DIVISION is the BEST!!! The appointment process was smooth as butter. I filled out the online request form and was contacted right away. We setup an appointment exactly when we wanted it. We have had a stressful past experience with another company who pretty much wouldn't clean our system as thoroughly as APB did. We grew up without air conditioning in our homes so as first time new home buyers we were rookies to how often to clean our units. It's only been a year and a half since we installed our split units and they were maintenance by the installers. However, they did not properly clean and install the units. They would just bring the unit into our shower and spray it off with water. As you can see in our photos of how dirty our split units were. We were all getting sick and having allergy flareups. Mark who was our technician knew what he was doing for sure he removed the unit walked it outside to the water hose and cleaned it thoroughly outside with the needed product to kill the bacteria. He washed and dried it and showed me the cleaned units. The difference once they were all clean you could feel the difference and the air quality was great! We have a Airdog air purifier that measured the air and it showed how much more cleaner the air was from the air conditioner. We are so happy that we found APB CONSTRUCTION CORP HVAC DIVISION. Mark was our technician and he did a AWESOME job!! Maintenance is required once a year however we are so happy with the work that was done, we will be getting it serviced every six months by APB CONSTRUCTION CORP HVAC DIVISION. read more

Wow 5 star service. I called because my central ac was leaking from the ceiling. I usually wet vac once a year but this time it was every other day. Clogged line and drip pan full. Larissa was so helpful over the phone and set everything up. She even went over a few price options. Kevin was our tech and he was great. Very professional and went over what might be happening and what he completed. And he arrived early. He cleared the clogged drain, wet vac and clean inside the ceiling unit and also checked the outside unit and thermostat. I was very pleased and will be a returning customer for maintenance upkeep. read more
