In mid May 2024, I had our central air conditioning serviced. I contacted this company after reading the reviews. The appointment was made very promptly and Myra was very friendly. On the day of the appointment, we noticed the two technicians were consulting with someone on the phone. We found out later it was the owner of the company. Long story short, they were confused about the drain lines and had to spend additional time "unclogging " them ( which we were charged for). We paid over $500 for this "service"! We were grateful for what we thought at the time was their due diligence and thoroughness. I even wrote a very complimentary review on their website. Fast forward to August 31, 2024 when we discovered a leak originating from the upstairs ceiling. The origin of the leak was an overflow of the drain pan from the air conditioning unit because the drain was not working properly! I immediately called KK air conditioning to let them know and Keith the owner came out. He informed us that the installation of the condensate pan was improperly installed (this is not true because this is not a new installation and we have had it assessed by two other AC companies since then and they did not mention improper installation) which caused the leak and that the technicians cleaned out the secondary drain because the primary drain was difficult to access as it was underground?!? I asked him why weren't we told this at the time since we're not the air conditioning experts and he replied, "they're just technicians " . Keith felt he was doing us a BIG favor by not charging us a fee for coming out to check on this problem. The cost for the damages of the leak was over $53 thousand dollars and took 3 months to resolve. Our homeowners insurance was increased 278 percent for 5 years! read more

Today I did a full service of my split AC system. Three compressors and 6 units. Six hours later.... KK air conditioning is by far the best AC company that I have dealt with. I have used 3 other companies for full service cleaning. All 3 put together did not come close to the extensive cleaning job that KK Air Conditioning did on my system today. Kent and his worker showed up promptly and started right away. They took each unit apart, sprayed clean the units. Placed a plastic "bib" around unit, sprayed cleaners and used a portable water blaster to squirt all the gunk out. Wiped everything clean. Then each compressor was blasted down with water and scrubbed clean. I am extremely satisfied and highly recommend KK Air conditioning. I am very happy that i found KK Air conditioning on YELP, and will not use any one else ever. Update My situation is a very unfortunate situation where we moved into a brand new DR Horton home at Hoopili. We have had several issues with the home that have not been adequately addressed. Specifically for our ac system it's been concerning. KK air conditioning performed services far better than previous companies like COOL AIR (see for yourself the bad reviews). What can I say? Kent and his crew are great. KK Air Conditioning "Keeping Kool" was one of the few (as well as the first) to actually get back to the various requests for a quote that we've sent out. I'm assuming business must be booming for others not to reply. Too bad for them, a win for Kent and definitely a win for me and my family. Kent came by to do a consultation and get measurements for a quote the day after we first had contact, on a Saturday no less, to install a new 30,000 btu split A/C system. He had a very reasonably quote ready for us the following night with three different options in A/C brands which included the complete installation. After carefully comparing the info sheets that he provided together with the quote, reading online reviews, we picked a Daikin split A/C and sent the info back to Kent. An appointment was made a day later for the following week. From first contact to installation in 10 days. That was way faster than expected, but definitely a welcoming factor as we're still seeing some hot and humid days. According to my temperature meter, it is currently 99.7F outside and a nice 82F inside! The installation itself took a day. Because of how our home was built (for example, our home has an extension added to it that added some difficulties), and because we must follow association rules (nothing visible above fencing, for example) as well as the fact that we needed to keep certain space clear for a solar + battery installation that will follow soon, there was no real good way to get the various piping running entirely out of view. The solution that we came up with was to place a small stretch of cable gutter (or whatever it's called) from the inside unit to the area where it could enter the ceiling (behind the inside unit was not possible). As you can see in the photo that I'll add to this review, the outcome was not bad at all. Besides the great service we received, I have to say we also love the inside unit which came with a wide arrange of features like various timers, comfort settings, economy settings, 3D airflow etc. etc. We couldn't be happier, it is something we should have done years ago! SERVICE NEEDED & FIRST CONTACT I prefer texting, all initial contact was done via Yelp messaging & through my personal text. Our condensing unit crapped out on a Friday nite, the temp felt like it was close to 100 degrees, we were all miserable, couldn't sleep & my dog wasn't eating like she normally does. I took to YELPs "request a quote" method early the following morning looking for companies who were open on weekends that could do a repair & thankfully I found a few that had good ratings. Within a couple hours I started to get replies from 4 of the 6 companies. (Kent replied quickly, within 1-1 1/2 hrs). I realize jobs done on weekends generally cost more & rightfully so, but one company wanted to charge a mileage fee equal to the cost of an outer island trip so I was like, NEXT. I decided against another company after noticing that they were really good on initial contact but after that, good luck. After going back & reading reviews on the remaining companies a little more thoroughly, I decided to go with this company because I noticed all customers were in agreement that the owner (Kent) was genuine, hard working, methodical, not in a rush to finish the job just to get paid, was easy to reach & services were reasonably priced, no switch & bait tactics. All great qualities, especially knowing that at some point in time we would need a new system (our split & central are 12 yrs old) so yes, you want a reputable person that has pride in the work from the start. The only thing that was a little disappointing on initial contact was that we had to wait a few days, till Monday BUT...things changed to our advantage when we were informed soon after that Sunday at 3P could be done. We happily agreed to that appointment & while counting the hours, me, Hubbie & the dog tried to stay cool by hanging out at Starbucks & the various retail stores. THE BIG DAY At around 2P on Sunday Kent texted to say he was on his way & wanted to know if coming a little early was ok, I texted back, ThankGod, YES! He arrived as promised & went to work. Within an hour & half he was able to get the CU up & running which started the process for our split ductless & central air units to start cooling. Kent even helped when the deflector on the split ac suddenly started to malfunction. He took the time to take the front grill off to see what might be wrong & found that the gear was striped, so for now we have it taped up which isn't a big deal. And the amount we were charged for services was super reasonable, especially taking into consideration that it was done on a SUNDAY. Plus, dealing with this situation made us realize that we need to be more proactive so we're waiting for Kent's proposal on the cost to replace our entire system. My AC went on on Thursday night, I live Ewa and dreaded waiting through the whole weekend in the heat. My normal "go-to" AC folks were not available for a full week. After working with another AC company for 28 years, I had to find someone new since it appears they went out of business. After using someone new last year, I discovered KK Air Conditioning this year. I just needed annual maintenance done and they had competitive rates and managed to squeeze me in. While the boys were here, one of the workers said you hear that humming noise, that's your blower breaking down. I asked if I should change it and he said it's an older model and didn't know if they could find it. His recommendation was to just run it for now. I agreed but he got my model number, etc for their files. Looks like the boys did a good job and I was happy. Couple days later, Owner Kent sent me a text saying he located the part and he gave me a quote to purchase and install it. I decided to get it. Couple weeks later he contacted me to say it was being shipped and he would let me know when it arrived and schedule me. I had out of town family so I was in no hurry. I consulted with a couple other ac companies to get my central air unit replaced and I after meeting with Kent, I noticed a big difference in the quality of service and professionalism. The first two companies I dealt with didn't even bother to check inside the house. All they did was check the outside condenser unit and gave me a quote. One of the companies even tried to up-sell me a bigger ac unit than what I needed. He said I have 3 ton unit but I have a 2.5 ton, a 3-4K difference. Kent was very thorough in explaining what I needed. I took a while to decide on the type and size of ac unit I want. Kent answered all my questions thoroughly. He didn't try to up sell a bigger unit to make more profit. Scheduling was a breeze.
