Like a dive bar. A greasy spoon. No frills and simple. There is a certain comfort in that. Blue Moon, Budweiser, Bud Light, and Coors Light on draft. People smoking marijuana directly out front? Niiiiiiiccceeee. Numerous high four top tables along with some five tops that would be choice for playing cards. Long around J bar. ATM. Pool table. A nice quiet spot to watch the Broncos or regular NASCAR games. Come and be nobody or stop by with your friends. No complaints. This bar is a bit more lively than most dive bars but that's not a bad thing. Twins Inn isn't too far off Sheridan if you want cheaper banquet or even less "frills." Certainly a younger crowd but still very mixed 23-60 I'd say. The decor here is nice. Usual Budweiser signs but also a good amount of Firefighter memorabilia. Not too far from a station and training building so I'm sure that's the connection. Ambiance? Check. Service? Good enough. Food? They have jerky, popcorn, and various lays chips available. I see signs for a microwave Philly cheesesteak too but who knows what's up with that. Still, call Gordon Ramsay. Spicy pickle shots are on me!

While the Mild is flavorful and perfect if you want less heat. The food was so good I honestly forgot to take a picture before digging in! The Atmosphere: It's a classic sports bar vibe with a great soundtrack think 90s rock, R&B, and some Mexican hits. They have sports on most TVs, but they even had Barbie playing on one of the screens, so there's really something for everyone. It's a high-energy spot that's great for a night out. Customer Service: Usually, the servers here are phenomenal and super present. However, during our most recent evening visit, the service was a bit non-existent. Our waitress disappeared after the initial order, which made it hard to get a second round of wings. It seemed like a one-time fluke, though, as they are usually on top of it. The Price: The pricing is very fair for the quality and portion sizes. It's a great value for a casual meal, especially considering how consistent the food is. Parking: Pricing is very fair for the quality. We ordered a pound of wings, which is plenty for a good meal. A pound of their classic wings currently runs around $14.00 to $16.00. Which is a great value for how consistent the food is. Overall: Despite the service hiccup this time, we will definitely be back. We love the wings and the vibe too much to stay away. We'll just probably stick to our usual daytime visits!

Sometimes you get why a place put the "hole" in the phrase watering hole. But, they have a decent happy hour. They also have a nice, heavy duty, old-school bar suitable for leaning. Definitely consider getting a shot and a beer when you come in here. And they've got snacks, because it's not like you're walking anywhere else to get any food near here. Do you like dead animal pieces and parts on your wall? Well then you are in luck. Do you like a barstool that is padded and has a back, and you can actually swivel on it? Well, then you're going to enjoy this way more than those metallic butt and back wreckers that you will find it most breweries these days. How do you feel about a bloody Mary that is both amazingly over the top with things stuck on a skewer, but yet somehow also served in a red solo cup? This is just cognitive dissonance at its best.

I was torn but left my choice up to the bartender recommendation for the main, augmented with falafel. I was not disappointed. If you get stuck just flip a coin and it'll probably work out. If anything the worst part is the shopping center where the nearby stores throw you for a moment before you commit to the eclectic variety bar. Their interior decorations are a ridiculous blend of whatever holiday they have left up, and a death or 70-80s heavy metal bar. It is whimsically metal? Hard to even compare it, it works. At the bar you can get rock concerts on top of sports, again - a mix you don't get everywhere.

We arrived for an early dinner on a weekday so things were pretty calm; good given the size of our party. I can't say it was the best old fashioned I'd ever had, but our hummus, fries mushrooms, and babaganoush were all tasty. For dinner I opted for a gyro (came with fries) and cleared my plate. Good portions, tasty, and fairly priced. I can say I've never been to a spot like this before and had a very enjoyable time!

We have come to Jay's off and on for a number of years. It's not exactly next door to Golden but we…read morekeep coming back every so often, so there is something that draws us. Hmm ... It's not the dining room or ambiance - those are fine - simple, diner-like, usually clean - fine. It's not the view - they sorta/kinda have a view to the east, but it's also sorta/kinda industrial. The view is fine. It's not the service - that can be variable but isn't usually dreadful and is generally pretty good to good enough - fine. It isn't the menu - Jay's is basically Chili's or Applebee's that is locally owned and isn't a chain. Separate bar and dining room. Burgers, sandwiches, soups, salads, wings, entrees - bar food - large menu with lots of choices - fine. It isn't the food quality, although the food quality is really pretty good. I often have the Buffalo Chicken Salad and that's always good. The burgers are also good. The food quality is fine. In most ways Jay's is the prototypic Yelp three star establishment - A-OK in the parlance of Yelp, and there's nothing wrong with being predictably A-OK. Especially when you're locally owned and not mind-numbingly similar to every other Chili's, Applebee's, etc, under the sun. Oh, yeah - now I remember why we find our way to Jay's every so often - surprise - Fish and Chips! The Fish and Chips at Jay's are really good. Of course, GB Fish and Chips are the best. Clancy's are also really good. But it can be hard to get into GB and Clancy's, and getting a table at Jay's isn't usually a problem. Bottom line, Jay's is fine pretty much across the board. Except the Fish and Chips which are "finer" than fine. Not enough "finer" to elevate the solidly A-OK three star rating to four. But definitely enough to entice me from Golden when I'm hankering for good Fish and Chips and want to know that I can get a table.
