I was rear ended in December of 2022. Once everything was verified by the responsible insurance, American Casualty Insurance, they sent me a check to find a shop and begin repairs. I chose Apex Automotive Group for my collision repairs based on proximity to my job and their great online reviews. Apex's website states that they guarantee satisfaction. They claim that they have experienced technicians that perform the necessary repairs to restore the car to its original state. Also, that after repairs are completed, "their team of experienced quality control experts conduct a thorough inspection of your vehicle to endure the work has been done to perfection." They even promise to handwash and detail your car! Once I dropped off my car, I paid Apex, via credit card, the $3,939.54 that American Casualty Insurance provided to me. What Apex failed to tell me is that they charge a 3.9% convenience fee to use a credit card. This is illegal without making your clients aware of such a surcharge. When I brought this to their attention the following morning they made go to the bank, wait an hour in line for a certified check, and then wait another hour for APEX to figure out how to process a credit card refund. I could not understand just refunding the 3.9% back to my card and eating that $153.66 for the inconvenience. This experience was just the start of more bad news. Repairs for my car began in June 2023. Upon completion, I went to pick up my car. My vehicle was far from being restored to its pre-accident state. Dissatisfaction does not begin to explain my feeling. According to the estimate provided by American Casualty Insurance, certain parts that were repaired should have been replaced with new ones. This is called insurance fraud! Even the repaired parts were not close to satisfactory. My rear quarter panel and tow hook covers were still cracked. The trunk was misaligned left to right and top to bottom. Not sure how their "experienced quality control experts" missed all this. Were they trying to cut corners to save money? It's a shame how it was left. Additionally, when I arrived for pick up, I had to wait an hour for the detailer to finish what they call detailing. When he was finished there was still shop debris throughout the interior leather, door panels, front dash, rear speaker deck etc. The rear seats were soaked. There were cleaning bottles left in the car and someone else's personal items. I spent 90 minutes detailing the car myself when I got home. I spoke with the manager about my concerns and the poor quality of their work. He stated that he was waiting on another part and a supplement from American Casualty to before I could bring my car back a second time to correct their poor work. In October I dropped my car off a second time at Apex Automotive to correct the rear trunk alignment. I was called to pick the car up a week later. It was if they barely touched my car. My eight-year-old even said "I thought they were going to fix your car dad?" I think all would agree there was no reason to return. They clearly do not have the resources or knowledge on how to restore my car to its pre collision state. I've since requested a post repair inspection from American Casualty. They required an estimated for another shop prior to sending an adjuster to consider repairing what Apex did not. The preliminary estimate from the second local shop is $4,338.30 without even stripping off the bumper and quarter panel to see the true damage. If you are considering Apex for future auto body work, please shop around. It was the worst repair experience I've ever had. My experience was far from stellar, and the workmanship was FAR from acceptable and crappy at best. Everything that they promise on their website is a lie. They smile in your face and tell you that we'll get you taken care of. However, they are just master manipulators and professional conversationalists that say whatever needs to be said until you go away. My fear at this point is that American Casualty will deem my car a total loss rather than pay to repair what Apex Automotive failed to fix. This will likely force me to have to buy another car and potentially take on a car note whereas my current car has been paid off several years ago. No one should be treated this way. They were paid for work they did not complete and have yet to contact me knowing I'm unsatisfied with their work. Whenever I mention it's not done, they say they need to order a new part. Why would you call and say the car is done and then say you need to order a new part. The whole thing does not make sense. Please find another shop. I will be reporting them to the BBB and hopefully no one else will go through this with Apex in the future.
