Being from the West Coast originally, I didn't know what I was really missing in the "pizza realm" until I came here. Now it is safe to say I will never go back. Apizza is some of the best pizza I have ever consumed, but don't be fooled; their appetizers and salads are ALSO delicious. I've come here with friends and family alike, and everyone is always impressed! There is a positive, welcoming ambiance upon entry, and while it can get quite busy, it is well worth the wait. I always, always get the Zucchini Fries as an appetizer. The breading is perfectly crispy, and the flavors go perfectly with their delicious dipping sauce. I'm a big fan of the classic "Apizza," but I add hot honey to the top. They specialize in their soft yet chewy pizza dough, and the hot honey elevates the melty cheese in all the right ways. Upstate New York has a fine Italian restaurant in downtown Syracuse - Apizza Regionale. Located in a clean well-kept brick building with high wood ceilings that fits its casual family ambiance. The exposed large pizza oven fills the restaurant with all the delicious aromas of hot fresh pizzas. The food was tasty with friendly waitstaff keeping all well served. Sitting at the bar was pure enjoyment with Justin satisfying this frequent flyers thirst with his mixology talents. Will still give this 5 stars, but wanted to add that I've tried several other pizzas here at this point. Recently I feel like the pizzas have gotten smaller (same amount of dough, but not as large so it doesn't fill up the platter and the crust is thicker now). Still like the Calabrian the best. Outstanding spot. Ambiance inside is fun, with strings of lights across exposed rafters and exposed brick walls. Pizza is excellent, and the crust is probably the best I've ever had -- light and chewy and moist. Sounds crazy to mention but we're from out of state and couldn't believe how good the WATER tasted. Ate here with my girlfriend during Labor Day Weekend and we were both more than impressed. Walked in right at 4pm when they opened and were greeted by a friendly and enthusiastic staff. The service was pleasant but the food was even better. We ordered the Apizza and the chicken parm to share. The Apizza was top-notch with fresh mozzarella. The chicken parm was well seasoned and was served with a slightly spicy marinara sauce that left us wanting more. The inside of the restaurant has a chill modern vibe, perfect for a date night. My family and have been dining a Apizza Regionale since they opened in 2016 (I believe) and we have never been disappointed. On a recent Saturday 5 of us decided to head over early so we would not have to wait long to be seated (they don't take reservations and I have never known not having to wait for a table). Once our table was set, we were promptly seated and two bottles of water were delivered to our table. Drinks orders were given once we were ready - wine (many choices that can be ordered as a 3 oz. pour, "full" glass, quartino or bottle), and other non-alcoholic beverages were ordered. We always order the same appetizers: Meatballs which are made in house, served in a pomodoro sauce, cheese & olives which are served warm and lightly coated with olive oil and the antipasti bowl (the sopressata chips are awesome). As usual, all three were well made, delicious and satisfying. Our oldest ordered the pasta special of the day - Chicken parmigiana over a bed of fettuccine and he ate every last morsel. Our two pizzas, the apizza (cheese) and Calabrian were cooked perfectly and as tasty as ever. The olive oil cake with seasonal topping for dessert is always a favorite and never disappoints. The staff was super nice although they forgot my friends pizza and it took so long for them to make her one she had to bring it home but they took it off the tab. Love the atmosphere, it's lively and always packed but still comfortable. There's no reservations so be ready to wait, or try to show up right at opening. There's also not really anywhere great to wait, unless you can squeeze in at the bar, but guess what? The bartenders make some great drinks and they have seasonal cocktails. The pizza here is amazing, super yummy crust. The ingredients are clearly fresh and the servers are attentive without being overly intrusive. The arancini is also so delicious, it's perfectly seasoned and crisp. You can't go wrong with whatever pizza you pick, but I'd definitely recommend trying the daily special. read more

Whether a lunch meeting, or a dinner with family or friends, my expectations have always been exceeded. The food is excellent, and the revolving menu, always great. This place is so popular that I rarely go because there's always a wait for a table. They do not have GF pizza, which is too bad because their pizza is great. But I had a fabulous salad (the Scarola) and delicious GF pasta with their signature lamb sausage (Winter Cannerone). My only complaint is a stingy pour on the wine, but I find that is typical at higher end restaurants. Amazing. From the FULL-OF-FLAVOR rich, fresh, and dense tomato sauce, the homemade mozzarella and dough, to the garlic oil (I had to ask for this as a topping), this is one FINE wood-fired pizza. Loved this place!!! Stopped here on the way home from a roadtrip back to Buffalo. What an awesome setup they have going! Big windows they can crank open on a nice day and a modern industrial feel. Loved all the old pictures of the family that were hanging around our table. We ordered meatballs and salad to start. The meatballs really hit the spot! Small but packed with lots of flavor! Salad was great too and there's a lady who slices fresh parmasan on your salad by the kitchen. The pizza was AWESOME. We got the garlic herb and added sausage. It comes with 6 slices, thin crust, and had a little bite to it which I loved! SO GOOD! Paul Messina, the longtime bar manager at the Dinosaur BBQ across the street, is co-owner of Apizza Regionale, a wood-fired pizza establishment that focuses on regional ingredients and a more traditional Italian pizza. This means bases of bechamel sauce, pizzas without cheese, and hot peppers and charcuterie as toppings. Looking for pepperoni? You won't find it at Apizza Regionale. The restaurant displays the same rough-around-the-edges design scheme from the Dinosaur in the restaurant that now graces the former Mimi's Bakery. Exposed beams and garage door tracks hang from the ceiling and photos of New York City pizzerias and meat stores hang on the walls. Miniature mason jars for water glasses and dish towels for napkins adorn each table when seated I've been wanting to try Apizza since it opened and finally decided to while the wife and I had dinner with some friends this weekend. We arrived around 530 and the place was PACKED. It's a small place, with an even smaller waiting area, and you could barely move waiting for your table, but were required to a thousand times for the servers who were manically running back and forth to the bar, which is right next to the waiting area. There is a small parking lot in front of the restaurant, maybe 5 or 6 spots. Other than that, it's on street parking, but we were surprisingly able to quickly find close street parking. We had an hour wait, but finally got sat around 630. We were given our menus, a very small, simple menu that includes a handful of small plate antipasti, three salads, two pasta dishes and eight pizzas. There's also a beverage program focusing on a menu of 16 wines priced $30 or less per bottle, specialty cocktails, and New York-brewed draft beers. Bottled and canned beers plus a selection of higher-priced wines are also available. I chose the meatball pie pizza, my wife went with the Calabrian, while our friends chose the Apizza and the Salsicca. Our food was brought quickly, thanks in part I'm sure to their small, concentrated menu. We all started in and were quickly in agreement that everything was delicious. My wife and I traded half of our pizzas so we could both try each. Mine was great, covered in sliced meatballs and carmelized onions, but I LOVED my wife's. The Calabrian comes drizzled with a Calabrian chili infused honey, and it completely compliments all of the other ingredients to create an amazing flavor. The only thing we could find wrong is the centers of their pizzas are something's a little soft, as the chefs remove the pizzas before the crusts get too blackened on the outside, but that's just us being nitpicky. Apizza also offers two desserts, an olive oil cake and Budino, which was described to us as a chocolate hazlenut pudding-like dessert. We ordered one, as did our friends. They were brought and were DELICIOUS. Hearing pudding, we had an idea in our head of what it would be like, but the consistency was not what we were expecting. The only way we could explain it was like someone made a brownie batter, and failed at cooking it completely through, but failed wonderfully. It was really like a cross between a pudding and a brownie, and also had two delicious home made pieces of toffee in them. Our service was also really great. Our server was very accommodating and came off genuinely friendly over the fake customer service friendly you can get at a lot of restaurants. She was accommodating and attentive without being overly annoying. Two pizzas, one beer and a dessert with a tip came to $60, so it's a tad higher than some places, but totally worth it. What a great find. In town to drop off a student and we decided to grab a pizza at Apizza Regionale. We tried the panzanella salad and a couple of wood fired pizzas. Everything was great. The service was good the salad had fresh heirloom tomatoes, peaches, and fresh cheese all in a great pesto. My wife had the speck special pizza with marinated zucchini and yellow squash, béchamel sauce, and prosciutto. I did the simple apizza. Both were great. I am partial to a red sauce pizza, so I preferred the apizza. Simple, but just the right amount of salt in the fresh cheeses. Worth a stop if you are in the area. read more

Tried Apizza for the first time after having heard good things about it from several different people. We were seated outside on the patio which is nicely decorated and pleasant. The service was excellent. I tried the patata pizza which is a personal pizza but on the larger size for serving one, two people could probably split it if they aren't big eaters. We discovered this pizzeria while driving through Syracuse and we really enjoyed our experience. We also managed to get a table just before lunchtime and that was lucky because as lunch went on, the place filled up rather quickly. They have a lunch menu to choose from and the value for your money is definitely good. I liked the personal size pizza because it was just enough and it didn't feel over filling. Our dinner guests were rough-skinned, pock-marked, with blemishes, blisters, and big black welts. Yeah boyee! Wouldn't have it any other way. Though rather homely, Mr. "Arti Choke", and Ms. "Rucolo" were absolutely charming. They were well-cultured---love the fontina and caciocavallo---and of great taste. That their undersides were evenly leopard-spotted indicates they were well tended in their upbringing. We're looking forward to our next lunch or dinner party here. We ordered the zucchini, meatballs, Calabrian pizza, and lamb pasta. The zucchini was perfectly crispy, but the sauce lacked flavor. The meatballs were delicious and crispy on every edge. The Calabrian pizza was very tasty. Perfect balance of spice and sweet from the chili infused honey. The big disappointment was the lamb pasta. Flavor wise it was good, but the dish was literally cold when it got to us. We ended up not eating it and saving it for when we could warm it up and truly enjoy it. read more
