Owner was rude because I asked if I could substitute milk for strawberry lemonade off the kids menu he said hell no. He had to take off a fries because the double charged me. The Milk came with the breakfast but I never got it! Waitress was nice but I will never go back there again! That manager was so rude! Your typical Genesee county coney island with specials throughout the week, very inexpensive breakfast options (before 11 a.m. weekdays), burgers, coneys, desserts, and such. We seated ourself and waited briefly for our server. Seriously, the biggest thing wrong with this place is the fact the serve Pepsi product. *GAG! bleh.* Sadly a good portion of Flint (and Davison too) only offer Pepsi products now. Rumor has it Pepsi offered some discount and weaseled itself into all of these businesses. So... Another thing, the booth cushions really could use a bit more fill cuz they're quite flat and kinda hard. Most important thing... the coneys are made with Koegels. I grew up with Koegels. I went to school with the Koegels. I support a good product made with quality ingredients - and this one is local so it's a must. Burgers tasted homemade according to my guests. Fried zucchini must've been made fresh cuz it was crisp, not mushy, and even through the batter you could see it was a fresh green. Our waitress was fairly new but provided prompt, efficient service and was quick to fill any special requests (my request for a coney no bun, extra mustard, and my guests request for a side of horseradish and mayo along with the brioche bun for her burger instead of the usual). She was unfamiliar with the specifics of the different bun type but came back with the details to help with a future order. I called in a breakfast order. They said it'd take 30 mins. I gave them 40 mins since they always take longer. Again, the 2nd time this has happened, they didn't have my order. There is no reason for a grown adult to cuss at a small child...and he knows it, hiding behind the register and wall, then retreating back into the kitchen when confronted by a man. We called ahead for a party of 13, came 1 1/2 hours before closing, waited patiently for beverages and food (no help given to one waitress that we saw), and waited several minutes for our bill. We stood up to leave 18 minutes after closing, and apparently, the owner didn't like a 9 yo girl getting in his way as she stood up to get her coat on. Careful not to drop the F-bomb loud enough for the other side of the long table to hear, where he adults were, he swears at a little girl, who apologized for not seeing him trying to walk through. Cowardice at its worst. Furthermore, one of our boys found a wadded up hair in his ice cream and let the waitress know. Instead of politely apologizing, she lectured him on the fact that one hair is not a wad of hair. She went off on him, loudly, for several minutes until he refused a fresh ice cream. This was our second experience as a group,yet, our last. Thinking back on our June '22 visit, we should have decided at that point to steer clear of Apollo "Family" Coney Island. Yes, a group of seven children on their last day of school might be excited and talkative. However, talk to the parents first, and be kind about it. Telling our kids "you're not the only ones in this restaurant" was degrading and uncalled for. While I doubt there were any customer complaints, if there were, there is a professional way to handle the situation. In short, go somewhere else for polite and courteous service. read more

Ordered a Julienne Salad. I paid $9.75 for a poor excuse for a salad!!! Barely had any meat on it and the boiled egg was definitely not fresh. Husband had a Grilled Chicken Salad ($9.75). The chicken was hard and dry and not very much of it also had one of those old eggs on it. I don't know why they would get any return customers!! read more

My broccoli soup tasted like chicken broth, fries had no flavor and no salt, the "chicken" from the chicken wrap was inedible it was hard on the outside but super chewy, I literally spit it out. They also had off brand ketchup. Do not recommend eating here. read more

Pulled off the highway to get my fish & chip fix at Whitey's (just N of here), but their power was out. I passed their sign that proclaimed "voted best fish & chips in mid-Michigan." So, I thought, 'Why not?' Apollos is pretty much your typical diner/coney island. Service was prompt including food time & quite friendly. The award-winning fish & chips? I opted for baked potatoe, so can speak for their chips, but the fish was pretty good. Appearance wise they looked like overgrown fish sticks. Thankfully, they tasted better than that. Crispy, hot & not too greasy. I asked my server who voted their acclaim? A Cars 108 FM poll was to thank. "I don't know who paid them off," she jested. Their menu is quite extensive, my favorite item would be something else, I'm sure. If it's fish & chips you crave, head a lil further North to Whitey's. read more

I've gone to Apollo many times for many years the food is always good and the waitresses are nice but tonight I was treated by the manager as rudely as I have ever been treated anywhere ever before. Their card machine went down after I was already in the building and having my meal she tried to tell me it been down all day and I missed the sign on the door. I finally got her to admit she'd only put up this man put up the sign 15 minutes previously. When I found out she was the manager being so rude I asked her for an apology and she said sorry in a tone you would use if your mom made you apologize to your brother. Then a short stocky guy who I believe maybe the owner came from around the back corner red in the face telling me she apologized and throwing something on the floor forcefully. Went in on Sunday 9/4/2022 around 11:10 am - just me. They were busy, but I expect that during Sunday brunch hours - I also work in the restaurant industry, so I more than understand. I was seated rather quickly, however, it took 70 minutes for my western omelet, hash browns and toast to be brought to my table. I asked my waiter - Chris - at around 40 minutes how much longer only to be interrupted by a VERY RUDE waitress who told me to just "get it to go." Another couple overheard this interaction and told me they had been there for 80 minutes and were also treated terribly by the same waitress - You have some work to do Apollo - I'm positive you lost numerous customers yesterday. read more

Nice restaurant, but the service was on the slower side. The food took forever to come from the kitchen. The restaurant was freezing and heard the owner controls the temperature from home, they aren't allowed to touch it. It got so cold we needed to put our coats back on. I ordered an omelette this morning and when it was brought to my table it had a long black hair on it which I pointed to when the server put the plate down. She apologized and said that she would have the kitchen make another one quickly which I agreed to. The second omelette was brought and appeared to be ok. A basic ham and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast. Bland but edible. When I finished the server brought my check and she did not offer to comp the breakfast nor did I ask her to. When I went to the register the the person asked how my breakfast was and I told her that it was not very good and that I had to send my first omelette back because it had a long black hair on it. She said she was sorry about that and took my money for the breakfast without offering any type of additional conversation or compensation. I will not be back! read more

Dead bugs line the windowsills and booths. Live flies were buzzing over our table the whole time. Nasty! Decent bathrooms with touch-free paper towels. Very friendly server named Jordan. Some of my fried fish was undercooked. When I received replacements, one of those was also undercooked. Altogether, 50% of the fish I received was undercooked. Is there a mechanical problem in the fryer? The fries were perfect though. The kids liked their blueberry pancakes. The French toast portion was huge! My child ate all of it even though she usually only eats half anywhere else. My spouse's corned beef reuben was delicious. Booths had a nice woven upholstery of faux leather and good pendant lighting. They do need to get into the space between the seat and backrest to get out dirt and used straws. This was a corner booth, and I know those are harder to clean without moving the table. I don't know if I would go back there if we ever drive up that way again. I'd probably opt for winter when there's less of a chance of insects all over the place. read more

We have given Apollo family restaurant four chances now to get their stuff together. The service flat out sucks. When you come in and there's 10 tables occupied 6 servers you would expect the service to be good. Waited five minutes for someone to even come to the table with the menus and take drink orders, took another four minutes for the drink orders (water and coke)to get to the table. We could understand if it was very busy but it was not, it was at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. The food was good and hot but not worth the wait. read more

We had to wait to be seated when there were clearly plenty of tables and staff walked by multiple times without even acknowledging our presence. I stopped in for a quick bite to eat. You seat yourself so I was a little nervous as to how long it might take for a server to come by. Within 2-3 minutes a pleasant waitstaff brought me an ice water and took my drink order. The tea she returned with was fresh brewed and delicious- always a qualifier for me. I discussed options with her and she recommended their fish so I ordered the senior dinner (2 fillets) and 2 sides. I chose the cup of beef barley soup and the coleslaw. The soup and coleslaw arrived within minutes and then the fish with tartar sauce sliced tomato and some lettuce leaves. The soup was obviously home made, it was delicious. The fish and tartar sauce were very good as well. The coleslaw was not bad biut needed a little zip in my opinion. After the reviews I read, I just wanted to report I had a very good experience from a food and service perspective. I would encourage you to give it a try. read more

Went here Sun about 11:30am and ordered breakfast. After waiting over 1/2hr no food and 2 tables that arrived 15 Min after we ordered were eating. We asked the waitress about this and she exlplained there was limited grill space for that time of day. Ok I guess I understand. While at the cash register I was explaining what happened and suggested the waitresses might advise people of the xtra wait. At this time his boss appeared and in a unfriendly tone said "have u ever run restaurant,do u know howany orders we fill a day, anyone knows they'll have to wait at least 1/2hr when we're busy". He then left without giving me a chance to explain I wasn't complaining, just offering some advice. Our waitress gave us good service and the food was good. read more

This restaurant is the reason I installed this app. My family and I waited over an hour and a half for our food while other tables were placed in higher priority than us. Families at tables that came after us received their food, paid their bill, and left a long time before we even had our food. The waitress kept telling us it would only be a few minutes, but the quality of service was apparent. Lazy! Our food came and the portions were quaint, not worth the price! Food is decent and what you'd expect from this type of establishment. The food has always came out quick for us and hot. You frequently hear the microwave dinging loudly and the door slammed shut. The reason for the 1 star is the horrible wait staff. They stand behind a counter in the middle of the restaurant and whisper to each other. When serving you they treat you like a burden. They are often heard complaining about tips and previous customers. One of the cooks, who I believe is the owner, has a permanent scowl and will not accept ANY criticism. I will never be back to this toxic restaurant. 2 bad experiences are enough. read more

second time in a row ive gotten sub par food and awful service. i've been a loyal customer for years, but it's really gone down hill fast. waited at the drive thru window for 26 minutes for a paty melt which was served on stale dry rye toast instead of buttered, grilled rye, and an apollo burger that was dressed completely wrong.... it wasn't super busy in fact I was the only one at the speaker and at the window, although while I was waiting a car pulled up behind me and. a server brought their food out to them. I used to LOVE Apollo, however the last two visits have been terrible experiences. there are too many other places to grab lunch to have to waste time and money like this. read more

I took my family there last night. My kids ordered the kids meal which said they come with ice cream. We asked the waitress what ice cream they could have and she said a bowl or a shake. I questioned her on the shake and asked if she could confirm that to which she replied she was sure it was included. When we received the bill I was charged for 3 shakes. I was not happy and I explained the error to multiple people and I was told there is nothing they can do for me. Eventually I talked to an owner, he was very rude and I was told there is nothing he would do for us. He also told us to never come back. They lost my business and my family's business over there mistake and maybe a dollars worth of ice cream. I have never been treated so rude in my life. Such a great restaurant!!! The service couldn't be better, the food is delicious & homemade high quality! They recently updated the bathrooms as well as other parts of the restaurant & you can really tell!! Favorites are the breakfast (any time of day!) and the fish and chips!!
