I order on DoorDash and it was food for one person. On DoorDash it allows you to pick an extra base and meat on the sizzle bowl if wanted. Which I did. I then got a text from the place saying "sizzle bowl gets one base and one meat?" So I responded with "are you asking or telling? Ate here a couple times in 2016 & 17, enjoyed it thoroughly. Was back in Davison and initially apprehensive because recent reviews weren't great. It was still a very good meal. The tortilla chips are excellent. My wife had a wet burrito and still thinks their gravy is "unique and delicious". Had had the chicken fajitas salad. The food was very, very good! Portions were very large. However, it was cold inside. Most all of the patrons had their coats on. There was a Pepsi delivery man making deliveries through the "front" door which made it even colder inside. I don't know why he wasn't using the back delivery door (if there is one)! Excellent service in the new, beautiful restaurant, which is located directly across the street from the old place. Same great food as the old restaurant, with the addition of adult beverages on the menu. Our family appreciates a good beer or margarita with our Mexican food, so we're pleased with this! Prices seem to have remained the same, as well as the quality of the food. Seafood enchiladas and steak quesadillas were both excellent. Service was friendly and prompt despite a full house on a Wednesday night. El Charrito's tastes much more authentic than other Mexican restaurants in Genesee County. I'll start by saying that I have LOVED the chicken fajitas for years at El Charrito's, and have recommended it so often to people. It was my favorite restaurant in Davison. But this week I had a chicken fajita and it was completely different than in the past. You could tell that the very thinly sliced vegetables had been premade and then just tossed with three pieces of chicken. And it was not flavorful as in the past. The flour tortilla was hard. In the past, the sauce in the fajitas was hot and spiced perfectly, like it had just been made. The vegetables used to be very fresh and cooked perfectly. It was such a huge disappointment, after loving these for years. The new place is decorated great, but I'd rather be in the old restaurant when it had GREAT food. LeRoy: As we began the evening we were all three chose something different and I chose tacos. Their tacos are on corn tortillas and you can get them soft medium or hard. The medium are the best choice for me and I are all three of them. The dessert was superb with whipped cream everywhere and Caitlin ate what I couldn't and Katie wouldn't eat any of it! Then our waitress was super. She just couldn't do enough it was a joy to have her wait on us and see the smile on her face. Went in for dinner at 5p on a Wednesday and ordered a few single items.... one of them being a seafood burrito. Waited quite awhile for food to arrive and the server finally came back to say they were out of seafood burritos! That was the one item that we went there for so had to order something else. Probably won't go back! Food was ok...but nothing great. Very disappointed that they would be out of an item so early in the evening when they aren't even open for the 3 days prior. read more

We ordered the shrimp enchilada dinner with a "side salad" and the combination dinner (taco, tamale, tostada). The enchilada was essentially heavy cream sauce covered in a disgusting amount of cheese with a few scattered imitation crab pieces throughout. It tasted like a canned heart attack. I've never really regretted eating much in my life but I 100% regret that mess. The combination plate items were indistinguishable from each other due to being covered in an immense amount of cheese. The tamale was a dried tube of meat substance and very salty. It was all very gross. The whole side salad thing was really silly. It's listed on their menu as a "dinner salad" but as you can see from the photo, it's shredded lettuce and diced tomato with chopped white onion that they sell for almost 4 bucks. We'll stay far away from this place and would recommend others do, too. read more

I come from the Ann Arbor/Ypsi area to get this food here, when I'm able. I've only ever gotten the "charrito's chimmy" and golden tacos, both are tasty! However, I miss their Lapeer location. They had great deals on top op CHEAP standard prices, the portions were huge, people were much more friendly, the place was cleaner, and the food tasted way better. I'm not sure what happened, but this El Charrito's location is not 1/2 as awesome as the Lapeer location was. The Davison location is okay, but if you had only been to the Lapeer location, you may be disappointed. read more

Without a doubt, my favorite Mexican food in the area. You have to find what you like and stick with it. I love the "medium" tacos. And anything with gravy on it is great. The gravy has a delicious flavor. The only mistake in ordering I have made is the Seafood Burrito... it was just mostly imitation crab me and a not-delicious white sauce. It's a lovely restaurant. The decor is not over done. The service is very good, employees are extremely helpful and courteous. The pico was very fresh with just enough spice. The chicken was grilled perfectly not too moist but not bone dry, just the right amount of seasoning. The rice was a perfect consistency, not so loose it didn't stick, but not sticky to the point of staying on my fork. The food is great but the service is horrible. There is one waitress in particular that is always super rude. She's rude in person and rude when you call in an order. During COVID she called us back after picking up an order and yelled at us on the phone saying we took the wrong order. She handed the order to us. How could we have taken the wrong one? Just recently tried to order carry out. We called and asked how late they took carry out orders and they said 7:30 since they close at 8. We called back at 7:15 and of course the rude waitress answered and said they weren't taking orders anymore. I said I called earlier and was told we could order until 7:30. We ordered the combination shrimp, chicken, and beef fajitas, but it was more like the saying "where's the beef?????" I really love the authentic Mexican cuisine this restaurant is known for. The stewed beef within the wet beef burrito is absolutely delicious! The homemade chips and salsa are always devoured quickly. My favorites are the chicken fajita salad and the taco salad. I will go out of my way to order from here when I'm craving a salad. The prices can be a little high in my opinion for their dinners, and they have never been accommodating when I wanted to substitute a side. I was even trying to down grade from the stewed beef to shredded chicken and they wouldn't do it. Instead they offered me more rice or beans for the same price. Which comes to the reason I am only rating this restaurant 3 stars. I've had more than one bad experience with the service here. The waitresses/hostess have been discourteous on several occasions, more so when I arrive to pick up my order and also over the phone acting like they don't really care. I've also had my order messed up and called when I got home in which the person over the phone basically said oh well and that I can come back and buy what wasn't included in the first place. For years this was our favorite place to go. Everything was always fresh and delicious. I am not sure what has happened over the past couple of years, but it has gone downhill. The food isn't as fresh as it used to be. The pride is no longer there. The service is nothing special. The waitresses all act as though you should be grateful they are waiting on you. I started calling at 6pm on Tuesday the phone was busy every time I called which was over an hour, there closing hours for this day was 8:30. so I drove there to place an order only to find that they were closed at 7pm. My favorite Mexican Restaurant. Some of my fav's - Beef Wet Burrito, Chimichanga, Seafood Burrito, Chix Golden Taco, beans & chips and salsa. The beef is like stew meat and so good. I love all their meat - Chix, hamburger meat, and beef are so good I have a hard time deciding every time I come here. I order A la carte so I can have a Wet Burrito & a Golden Taco! They do charge for Chips & Salsa but they are homemade - not from a bag. Love them! Try a half order of beans to dip chips in. I'm not a fan of their Queso - the one thing that could be improved. They also don't have a liquor license, so no Margarita w/ dinner. I've adjusted because I love the food!!! I've heard people rave over their burgers but I've yet to try one. The staff has always been so nice & I've never had bad service here. W/ 2 people eating are bill is usually never over $20, so it's very affordable. I look fwd to next time! As for other comments of "Who charges for chips & salsa?" I would say a Mexican restaurant that doesn't serve alcohol. Bar bills PAY for all the FREE salty eats. read more

When I cut the burrito it was filled with a white sauce. The only seafood I found in it was maybe a half dozen dime size shrimp. Very disappointing. I would not recommend this entree. read more
