The food in this place has gone way up! The short rib is unbelievably good and the artichoke cakes are a must try!! You can always get in because it's never really that busy but it's a great spot for dinner or brunch on the weekends. I like the place but their food is uninspiring. The one thing that bugged me most was all the dead bugs in the window sill. We have been there twice recently and they have not wiped the windowsills. Where you sit, that is your view. They seem like they turn over a lot of staff. I wish some would stay on. My wife and I chose Apollo's Bistro to celebrate her birthday. We had attended a dinner catered by the Bistro and the food was decent, so we thought we would give it a try. Off the main road in Apollo Beach, the restaurant is part of a tennis club building. The appearance is underwhelming and dated. The restaurant's dining area is small and dark. Ambiance- Disappointing. There is a small bar that, like we have experienced in many restaurants in the area, seems to dominate the atmosphere (loud locals who come to drink and have no care or concern for those dining). Service- Sub-Par, at best. This was the greatest disappointment, as at the catered dinner we attended, the service was excellent. We had to ask our server if there were any specials, we asked if the crab cake appetizer could be expanded to an entree to which she replied with a flat "NO", she never checked back with us after our entrees were delivered and we had to get her attention to ask for anything. Drinks- UGH! My wife ordered a Cosmo and I a Moscow Mule. Her drink was dark red (mostly cranberry juice) and my drink had very little vodka and lime juice. Food- Nearly as disappointing as the service. My wife ordered chicken piccata, which she described as bland. I ordered the rib eye, nearly half of which was fat. We were really hoping that this would be a good experience, as we hoped to find an alternative to Circles when looking for a restaurant to take friends and family visiting us. read more

We stopped in for drinks and a late lunch and loved it here! They have a full bar with plenty of options, and the bartender is adventurous which makes it fun! I enjoyed a lovely alcoholic watermelon lemonade and throughly enjoyed it. My husband went for one of their beers on tap. The atmosphere is great and you can tell they've taken the time to update the space. We went with the pork belly, empanadas and gator bites for a snack. All were perfectly cooked & delicious. The staff was super polite, and sitting at the bar allowed us to get a real feel for the atmosphere of the restaurant. They take reservations and do have a private space available for events. The restaurant and the bathrooms were very clean. We overheard that they will be updating the menu soon and we can't wait to return to check it out. This was a great lunch option. It's a hidden secret nestled in the small town of Apollo Beach. The service was awesome. Special requests were accommodated without an issue or additional upcharge. The light rock music created a great ambiance. This would be a good date night choice.This is also a good option for meetings as it is somewhat isolated and not as busy. The Lobster bisque was very tasty but not many chunks of lobster were found in the bowl. The menu is limited, however, there are featured daily specials. Eveything had a fresh taste. There is also a full service bar if you're in the mood for cocktails. Overall the food was good but not necessarily great. Food is ok, very pricey for what you get. I wish they would give you more protein (chicken,steak,shrimp...etc) they load the plate up with side items, like rice to make it look like you getting more. I will say the service is very slow. It took around 10min for someone to ask if we wanted water both times we have been, then about another 10 to have someone take our order. We waited about 20min for our soups, and about 30min for our food. Probably won't go back...much better selections in the area. read more

So we really love this place as the food is always excellent. Last night took a friend who had never been there and when we checked in a 50% appetizer coupon popped up. I showed it to the waitress who I believe is an owner or relative and she had absolutely no idea what it was or how to process this. She went and asked a young man who I was told was the owner and we were informed that it only applied to certain appetizers and of course not the one we wanted. The coupon stated any appetizer hit they would not honor it. Lost a star for that issue. Food was delicious but the wait time is long and a family actually left while we were there as they were tired of waiting. Another star gone sorry! No refill on water or soda and restaurant totally full and obviously never enough staff to manage the customers inside and out. Again food always excellent but honoring coupons and wait times should be a focus of owners in the future. Great food alone will not keep a customer base forever. read more

We (2 couples)went for Thanksgiving at 3:30pm. I thought it was the first year they did it, found out it was not they have been doing this for some time. At first I was unsure about this place since it was inside a fitness club. The atmosphere is somewhat lacking. We went on a Friday night and they were quite busy so we had to sit at the bar. I have read several articles in local papers about the chef so I thought I would give this place a shot. I will have to say the food is five star all the way!!! We decided to dine at Apollo Bistro for my nieces 16th birthday celebration. Upon first arrival, it was a little confusing as the restaurant is in the middle of tennis courts and next to a gym and we were trying to figure out if they were even open. There were eight of us total and they sat us pretty quickly. The restaurant was having a wine tasting and an author meet and greet while we were there. For my dinner, I ordered the Chicken Marsala, Spinach and mushroom risotto and mixed vegetables. I've had better Marsala before and this was just okay. There were three tender cutlets of chicken in a Marsala/Demi sauce and some mushrooms. The risotto was cheesy and the Mixed vegetables consisted of sautéed zucchini, yellow squash, red peppers and sun dried tomatoes. The pro were the vegetables, which was my favorite part of the meal. Other members of our party loved the lobster bisque. The cons were everything needed salt, and they sprinkled green onions over the entire dish (no idea why and I ended picking these off.) They also automatically added the tip without telling us, which always takes away the tip for me since I'm usually an over tipper. Overall, the restaurant was nice but I don't see me making a trip back since there was no wow factor for me. read more

We've gone to this restaurant for years and have enjoyed the food. HOWEVER......big change to their menu and their prices are inflated for what you get. They changed their menu "a month ago" and it is very limited and unfortunately our favorites are no longer offered. Ordered the Stuffed Baby Artichoke appetizer on the Happy Hour menu. $8 for 3 small artichoke pieces. ‍. First of all, it wasn't good and most certainly was not worth anymore than $2 for the 3 tiny pieces! (I've bought a whole jar of these for $4!). We paid and left. We won't be going back. So the dilemma is that my wife and her family really enjoy AB for lunches - I have not been able to join based on working in downtown Tampa. However, the favoritism does not extend to the dinner service. We had made a reservation in advance for a celebratory birthday dinner (7 of us) - and they had the table prepared and ready. My first time in the property and it was packed (one would assume that this is a good reason). Evidently they had just fired a member of the wait-staff and told us that it may take some time. So we definitely factored that into ordering and my review. However comma: Getting water took 21 minutes until all 7 had a glass. The bar order (only 4 Stella's and a glass of wine took 20 minutes). from dinner order to plate delivery was 45 minutes. Grilled salmon was on the menu and two elected to order, served with sautéed vegetables and rice. What was amazing was the total difference in both the plating, and the portion size. The disparity between two orders of the "special" was strange. Both servings were enjoyable - however both had raw sections (about a quarter of each serving). I wasn't overwhelmed with the menu and ordered a Kobe Burger. I have to admit it was amazing. Cooked MR like I wanted it - I added cheddar and of course Bacon (right!). So two thumbs up from son and my self. My wife and mother-in law went for the crab-cakes. They were neutral in their comments - they were not over breaded and were warm, but just plain. My husband and I went to this restaurant within the past week after not having been there in about a year. They are back to being outstanding!! Everything from appetizer (Bistro chips) to salads with chicken and salmon were absolutely delicious. Both chicken and salmon were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The menu featured some new items that sounded yummy and still offered some of their old standard favorites (all really yummy too). Really enjoyed the drink specials too. It's a little hard to find; following the side road through townhomes to the parking lot and then trying to find the front door is not very clear. Service by Cassidi was great. Food was hot and while my fried fish was done perfectly, my fries were a little soggy and could have had a couple more minutes in the deep fry. The service is sometimes a bit slow and the food sometimes takes longer than expected to arrive. But all of the dishes I have eaten have been tasty including the desserts. We came as a group of 14. This is a glorious neighborhood feel restaurant that's easy to miss if you're not familiar with the area. When you do find it, it's nestled next to a gym and tennis courts. The atmosphere is comfortable and the waitress was attentive, although when I was leaving I saw that they had sesame ginger calamari as a special. I really wish I was told about that. Definitely a disappointment. The menu is not too extensive but they offer a nice selection of appetizers and delicious entrees. Today I had the seafood risotto which I've had before. As usual, it was delicious. My wife had the chicken picatta and it was also very good. If you have a special occasion I'd recommend this place. went for Easter Brunch. Really did not what to expect as I had not been there is a couple of years. My son went to the outstanding camp (another review) at the Racquet club for several years and once in while would grab dinner when I was picking him up when I got off from work. The food was always good. We went at 11 am when they opened and all the food was very fresh and had a good variety. They made an omelette to order for everyone and the deserts were very good. Our waiter Kramer did a great job and we were not hurried to get in and out. We were going to another restaurant at Lakewood Ranch and it would have been 40 bucks a person. This was much less and the food was probably better. Just a great meal in a relaxed environment. I do not why we do not go there more but will in the future. read more

We use to come here after church on Sunday quit after they stop opening Sundays. New menu, my fav salad not served anymore and only breakfast in Sunday. My egg was poach hard, when I specified soft. I would have liked a soft yolk but I didn't say anything because our food took a bit to come out so I opted to just eat it. There were three of us and each had something different. Everyone was happy with their food, it was good. We will definitely come back. Glad this little place is open on Sundays again. I gave them four stars because of my hard egg and because I asked the waitress for bacon and sausage on my scrambler but she said she could not do both. She could however give me a side of either. I asked if she could charge me for a side and have it chopped Up and add it to the bowl. But she said couldn't do that. She didn't go ask anyone, she just decided she could not mess with the menu I guess? Have no clue what her thinking was, I thought it was a lack of customer service on her part so 4 stars. read more
