I thought this company was great. Last year I had a horrible experience with another tree cutter. I had called the company for an estimate after the last blizzard in March 2018. I had 3 huge trees fall with the stumps being pulled right out of the ground. My neighbor also had a lot of tree damage so I brought this person (owner of the company) over to him and he got an estimate also. Well the company kept putting off the job and in the meantime I was doing a lot of the work that had been in his estimate...to make a long story short the company finally got here and the owner was a raving lunatic. His language was so bad my neighbor told his wife to go inside the house. The guy actually scared me so I just paid him and asked him to leave. After this horrific experience I was very reluctant to hire another tree cutting company. A couple weeks ago I was out in my front yard when a truck pulled in. The person introduced himself and asked if I needed any trees cut down. After talking to him for a while I decided to take a chance and again my neighbor talked to him and also signed up for some work. Well this time it worked like a charm. My trees were cut and all debris was removed in one day. My neighbor had 8 large trees cut down where they were dealing with fences (both mine and our neighbors) and not one area of the fences were damaged. They finished his place in 4 days, every bit of debris removed, the yard fully cleaned up. I'm so thankful they did a fantastic job and I think it redeemed me for my prior recommendation of the lunatic. Hiring a company is always risky because you never know what you'll get but I know if I need tree service in the future I will be ok calling in this company. I think this scumbag is a convicted FELON. This pile of garbage did a neighbors yard for dead trees after a storm, and he caused a crap storm for our property. This imbecile left wood chippings all over our yard, which is private property. The animal also without consent CUT part of the fence that dives the property line, to access the neighbors yard. He BLOCKED our driveway which we couldn't get out because he's a spineless coward. They blew DUST on our driveway resulting in our cars getting dusted and having to wash our cars again. Final straw the felon parked and rode up the sidewalk and parked his 5 TON truck on the front of our grass and made huge holes in our yard. Ruined the front of our grass, took me over 3 weeks to get the scumbag to come fix his mess. Well he brought a meth head, and was truly horrible. Ignored us and said he wasn't supposed to clean our yard, just the clients yard which is total BS. When I told him firmly do what you're boss promised he was going to do, he became very hostile and walked towards me and my cousin and clenched his fists acting like he wanted to fight us. We walked back in utter fear, so he backed off. Please do not EVER use this SCAMMER and FELON because he is extremely disrespectful and damages other people's private properties. He is a disgrace and he be trespassed if he ever comes back to our property! That's a promise! read more

I twice now have used the App Tree service to help me with serious tree problems, once at my home in Winchester and now to remove a tree threatening to topple and crush the roof on my beautiful historic home in Stoneham. In Winchester I called with some rotted limbs and trimming that needed to be done and Ed came out and negotiated a price to do much more than I was looking for initially, but Ed pointed out the issues and I agreed to the work with Ed App after getting a second opinion and estimate from another company that was triple the price for the same work. All work was done as agreed and in a timely manner. More recently, I called App Tree and Zach responded in an hour, my heart was pounding as we had just completely restored our home and a steep branch had cracked and was hanging over the new addition. Zach got on the phone as soon as I agreed to the work and had a climber on site within an hour and the breach was secured and threat eliminated! Tree work requires heavy trucks and equipment and although the can try to take precautions to protect lawns etc. it is winter , New England and soil is soft in yards causing damage and I suspect some people get angry for that, but I would rather repair my lawn, than rebuild my home! App Tree was in the neighborhood working at several other houses. They stopped by and asked if we were interested in their services. Very polite and not pushy at all. We walked the property and identified several trees we wanted to take down. We also identified several trees we would like trimmed back. We paid a deposit and they asked for 7 days to start. They were back and working on the yard within 3 days. It was amazing the work they were doing. We have a somewhat difficult property as there is no access for trucks to the back. They ended up hauling away 3 truckloads of material, having to carry quite a bit of it about 250 feet to the street. It took about 3 days to finish cutting down 10 trees, and trimming 23 trees. After they were done they cleaned up everything, you couldn't even tell they were here except that our yard looks amazing now! I was a little hesitant at first because we did not initiate the contact but these guys did everything they said they would plus some! Also, we had brush and trees we had taken down ourselves but had no way to get rid of and they were more than happy to take that material away as well. We will definitely call them back in the future for any trimming needs. read more

Very dissatisfied. Did not do what he (ed) said he would do. First he says the longer you wait the cheaper the price..not true, states he can come in 3 weeks (which was OK by me) calls two days later and starts the job, says he will cut the tree into 10 to 25 ft lengths... on split did not do this. Clean up was terrible....said he would place the logs in a neat pile, they were thrown not placed were we discussed, tree and brush that was suppose to be removed were not. Do not pay for the job until everything is done, we gave a deposit which was fine.. we gave the other half before the job was completed. Broke a section of my driveway with his chipper, said he would put down boards so the tires will not sink ... I have sink holes...plus we had gotten alot of rain so the ground was very saturated....dropped off crew at 10:30 am on Saturday said he would return in 2 hrs...asked me if I could buy the crew some come cola, returns at 8pm .couldn't finish because it was getting dark. Does not to stump grinding. Would NOT recommend at all. His partner or associate which ever claims to be a arborist.....I have my doubts. read more

I was sorry to see that this company got a negative review some years ago. My experience was quite different. I found Ed very helpful and courteous and was very pleased with the job his men did removing a huge 140' pine that was infested with carpenter ants and in danger of falling on my property at some point. Other tree companies had told me it was fine, and I believed they were wrong because having worked in a wildflower garden museum, I watched one of these jumbo pines fall from such pests, and I could see the signs of their damage. Sure enough, almost the entire core of the tree had been rotted out by the ants. It would just be a matter of time. I believe those companies just were afraid to tackle this difficult job. I'm so grateful Ed was the guy I chose. This was an extremely difficult and dangerous job and the men were absolute pros. Since no large machinery could get into my yard, the men had to remove every bit of this tree by hand. Wow! They even did a great clean up job. I know my neighbors are also interested in hiring them. Because I was impressed with the high level of work and great clean-up, I also hired this App tree Co. to remove and prune trees in my yard yesterday. Ed App and his crew were very polite and hard working. My landscaper arrived today (he has owened a landscaping co. for 40 years) and was so impressed with the tree removal, pruning and clean-up in my yard, that this landscaper contracted App Tree to remove trees in his own yard. Ed App lives up to every aspect of his written contract. He writes a start and finish date allowing for inclemate weather. Ed App gruides his crew the intire job. It is said that "seeing is believing" and seeing the great work Ed has done in my area makes it very difficult to believe any job he has undrtaken was not a sucess. Kevin from App Tree cold-called my house earlier this week and with all cold-calls, I sent him on his way. After rethinking this with my wife, I drove down the street to find him, asking to at least hear him out since we did need some work done. He presented suggestions on pruning to a number of trees and removal of others. When it finally got to presenting a cost I fully expected an outrageous quote... and found what he quoted to be very reasonable. His initial pitch that they were 'working in our neighborhood' was backed up with his crew being onsite within a couple hours and starting the job. Everything that was discussed was achieved... I am sorry to see a negative review that was posted yesterday by a yelper who did not have any service performed by this company. I did find it odd that she sat and talked to the worker till it was dark out and never saw any debris on the property, until the next morning. If this was so upsetting why wasn't the worker asked to leave the property? As far as complaints if you look at the 44 other reviews on his company you will see that most of them are from very satisfied customers. The fact that the company had a flat tire which can happen in any business doesn't make this a problem, the problem I see is that it happened in front of someone's home and they didn't like it, not sure how that equates to service performed.. We are all entitled to an opinion but to complain after the fact is another story. read more

In 1968 my father planted 3 Silver Maples and 2 Colorado Blue Spruce trees in the yard. Other than cutting off a branch every once in a while, and cleaning up after a bad storm, these trees were left pretty much to grow wild and they looked it. At a very fair price, App Tree trimmed off all the dead limbs from the Colorado Blue Spruce trees giving them a healthy clean look. They cleared the Silver Maples of the dead limbs,overgrowth, and the undergrowth that was't getting any sun --- as well as made the storm ravaged tree look symmetrical and healthy again. They worked efficiently, listened to my concerns, and communicated to me the needs of a healthy tree. I hired Ed App to do a substantial amount of pruning and removing of dead and fallen trees in my large yard. Despite some initial scheduling issues, Ed showed up to do the job a mere eight days after we signed the agreement with a crew of four of the hardest working men imaginable. They cut and hauled load after load of extremely heavy wood to a large chipping machine for several hours in ninety degree weather. Because I have such a well kept lawn, Ed made sure they hand carried all the wood across the lawn to the chipper so as to avoid damage. Included with the crew were a couple of very skilled tree climbers. They left the place neat and clean, and it was well worth the cost of the service. I am completely satisfied, and I will definitely use Ed's services again. read more

We bought a house next to pine trees that are well over 60 feet tall, and have been nervous about them ever since. App Tree was in our neighborhood, and after a short discussion, we hired them to "safety prune" 7 of them. The work was done quickly and professionally, and best of all, to our satisfaction. The large limbs were tied to a rope and lowered safely to the ground. The workers and owner were respectful and pleasant. And because all the equipment was already on the street, we were able to negotiate a discount in the price. Everything was picked up and chipped, and our property was left neat and normal. I had App Tree work for me a few weeks ago. And I want to say I am very impressed with the work that was done. Ed App and I went through my yard and went tree by tree and came to a joint agreement on what worked needed to be done. There was no pressure. He was very informative. The contact ended up including 5 tree removals and 4 trimmings. The workers came the next day and were done within 3 days. Not only did they clean up, they raked the yard better than it was before they started the work. A tree falling during a recent storm caused us to call APP Tree. The ad was in the MetroWest Daily News. Although it was a Friday afternoon, Eddie called us back in one hour and came with a chain saw and began work. He's a member of the Massachusetts Arborists Association. On Monday (actually Memorial Day) his crew took away the debris. For our part, we removed our cars from the driveway and parked them on the street so they wouldn't get damaged. The crew appreciated it because it made their job easier. After some trimming of other trees on our property, things look much better and we are going to use his service again. read more

Straight forward and no BS which I appreciate! Gave me a great deal and followed through. We had some stumbles along the way when he started to get a lot of jobs.. but App was on it and got everything completed in a timely fashion. I would hire them again.. although the crew is a not the cleanest guys. It was a hot few days but they left water bottles strewn about. Ed and his crew were contracted today to remove two pine trees over 30 feet tall, one of which was very close to a transformer and both bordered my driveway. Surprisingly, they were able to come by right away and finished the job in 3 hours leaving two stumps cut to the ground and not a branch in sight. I originally chose them because of their fair price (second lowest of 4 estimates) and their written detailed quote (the lowest estimate was scribbled on the back of a business card).
