A neighbor two houses away from mine hired Northeast to remove a tree that had broken in a storm a couple weeks ago. I am supportive of removal--what I find distressing was I encountered Northeast coming onto my property uninvited and with zero communication. I witnessed them entering my garden, walking around my home, and proceeding to remove a large rope from a tree on my property--apparently they used a tree on my property to tie off for structural support. When I asked the man what he was doing, he shrugged and said his boss told him to do it. They hadn't even knocked on my door, let alone coordinated with the neighbor they contracted with. This is trespassing. If anyone would like to come onto my property, use my property as structural support, it is reasonable and within my rights to expect preemptive communication and explanation of purpose and *request for permission.* I support my neighbor's need to remove the tree --but entering and using someone's property without their consent is trespassing and against the law. I do not recommend any contractor who behaves in such a brazen, disrespectful and unprofessional fashion. And on top of that whose crew members are unable to provide any explanation as to why they think they have a right to be on my property without consent. My wife and I highly recommend Northeast Tree for tree removal and wood delivery services. We had a very large silver maple tree removed from our backyard. The tree was hanging over our house. Northeast Tree used a crane from the front of the house to bring the tree safely, piece by piece, to the front of the house for more cutting and removal. They cleaned up all branches and ground the stump down below the surface. The last few years we have been purchasing seasoned firewood from them. My father owned and operated a tree service in Stowe, VT for 45 years - I grew up in this business. So when I say that Northeast Tree is one of the best operations I've ever seen, I'm making a statement born of experience. I first found them through their father, who delivered my firewood. He was about the nicest guy you could imagine. Later, his lovely daughter Pam came by to quote removing the four ugly pine trees we had towering over our home out back. The price was great and she was candid about their backlog. "We're about six weeks out - is that OK?" (I can understand now why they were well-booked). Lastly her brother Jim (the young one) showed up six weeks later with a crane and a crew of six. I thought they'd be there all day but they are so experienced they finished the work in half that time. They took down the trees, chipped them, then cleaned up every scrap and disappeared without a trace. (The cop on traffic duty said he'd seen them work a lot - "Northeast is popular - they do great work and they give fair prices"). I've been watching a tall maple in our front lawn losing it's bark and I finally called to get an estimate and Pam came out. I remembered her from the last time we used Northeast we and chatted a bit. While she was writing up the estimate she asked how her guys had left the wood last time and I said, "in ten foot lengths." Because of the size of the job I figured that was going to be their "mimimum charge" so when she gave me the price I asked her how much more it would be to have the guys cut it to woodstove length and she showed me the estimate. It said, "cut to 15 inch lengths." She must have noticed my woodpile! Pam is the best! I want to thank Tim and the Iron Tree Crew for an excellent job and general customer service. I wanted to take down a huge Maple in a tight area next to my house. Tim came out and gave me a fair estimate and even checked out the health of my other trees...and made recommendations. The crew was professional and proficient. This is a good company when it comes to cutting down a tree. This is an awful company when it comes to customer service and being timely. I had a large tree cut down at our home and the guys who did the work did a great job and even did more than what I was expecting. However to get to that point and even the aftermath was a nightmare. Vague timelines in scheduling to unresponsiveness when responding to voicemails. We wanted to also grind the stump and was given no notice when they would be there. Tried calling to square away a date and was told rudely by Pam that they could not because their employees usually call in sick or have emergencies. When I called them ask to trim it the guy called me and actually yelled at me at the top of his lungs because of miscommunication with his sister. Then when his sister came to trim it she said she was sorry about her brother but he had been up 24 hours. - But he was still operating a crane. Stay Away! Don't Trust the positive reviews! My neighbors used them, so I decided to use them. Should have used someone else. I wanted to remove a huge tree, a smaller tree, and possibly trim (depending on price) a huge tree in the back yard. They gave an estimate and the price was reasonable. It was really ambiguous on grinding the stump. When the had come out to do the quote, I spoke with the guy and he said they would use my driveway. This was the first lie. They used my neighbors driveway because "they asked." I don't care! I did not want them using my neighbors driveway as it is a LIABILITY. They of course say that they have insurance, but apparently they do not understand that a person can sue for damages anyone involved. The trees came down without further issue. Next, the stump crew which of course is weeks later because of a storm. Can anyone explain how the stump crew priority gets adjusted because of the storm? Not the tree crew...the stump crew. After calling multiple times they finally come out. They DESTROY my fence gate and the guy tells my wife it is our fault and has nothing to do with them. On top of this, for $250 dollars they "clean up" the remains of the grinding. For the cost I expected it to be immaculate. Instead, more chips are there that the dogs can eat and they actually moved leaved over the pile to hide it. I was watching in on the surveillance cameras and couldn't believe the gall. I called and they took care of the fence issue and apologized. The lady in the office was telling me that the guy on this crew is an idiot and apparently everyone hates him. Why he still works there is beyond me. Barbara from the office is a nice lady and I feel badly that she works in this insane asylum. Kudos to her. I told them that I did not agree with the cost of the grinding because the clean up was not to an acceptable level. They basically said that it was and for my troubles, that they would give me $50 off. There are a lot of tree companies. Even here at work, someone had them scheduled already and he said it went okay. But, they called to see if he could do the service on the day they called and he said okay. They called him back to say that they couldn't get the traffic detail for the road. They called me twice to see if I could do it last minute. The second time I was like okay fine my wife will be home. It is really a mess of scheduling there. Complain the most and you will be serviced first. That appears to be the mantra. Just go somewhere else. You'll be way better off. read more

My disabled , elderly friend called Northeast Tree to remove a fallen tree after a storm. She called again after the 4 day holiday weekend giving them the benefit of the doubt that they were busy after the storm. When they finally returned the call someone came for the estimate. They came to remove a cherry tree and took the wood despite the fact that I had huge wood piles all over my yard. They did not even ask. They just took it. And if anyone knows anything about wood will know cherry tree wood is some of the finest burning wood for indoor fireplaces. It burns almost as hot as oak only it is not as smoky and it smells better. Then I tried to talk to the guy about it and it was just an awful experience. I can't speak for their tree work but their customer service is horrendous. We ordered wood to be delivered...first they said they did not know exactly when but would call back with that...3 weeks later and 4 calls requesting a status and being told the same thing and them never calling back...we canceled the order. Part of a tree fell on my house last weekend. We were able to cut the tree off the house but still had the remaining rest of the huge pine tree and debris on the ground. I called Northeast Tree and first of all, a person actually answered the phone which was nice. Second Pam came out the same day and gave me an estimate. She was professional, knowledgeable and kind. We were anxious to have the tree cut down because we were in fear the rest would fall. She arranged to have the tree removed the next day along with another pine tree we were concerned about. I had 17 Ant-infested trees near my house that needed to be removed. I received a great quote from Northeast Tree for the tree removal and signed them up for the job. Northeast Tree came in a removed the trees this week. They did a great job and took particular care to clean up and leave the yard in the best possible condition given the large machinery in place. Northeast Tree came back three days later to grind the stumps and did a great job, again, with the clean up. They left nice clean piles of mulch that will be easily wheeled away. I highly recommend Northeast tree and will not hesitate to call them again if I decide to take down any more trees. read more

Overall very good experience. I needed removal of one big oak tree. They gave me an estimate for tree removal and stump grinding which I accepted. The guys scheduled the time a day before, came over in time and did a very good job. My only complaint is that they did not include trash removal from the stump grinding into the estimate. When I asked them to add it to the job they charged me extra $400. This seems a little over the top. As this company was cutting down a tree , a squirrel was seen frantically running back and forth on a branch they where cutting, with the squirrel still on the branch in view of the bucket lift. The branch was cut from the tree and it was lowered by the crane, squirrel and all. A Huge nest could be seen in the branch and once on the ground the squirrel ran away, a few minutes later a baby squirrel came out of the nest and slowly moved across the road, we collected it and a few minutes later another one came out of the nest and the whole time you employees got a big kick out of it as they continued running the branch and the nest through the chipper with out even caring that there may be more baby squirrels in the nest. This all was done in plain view with your companies knowledge and and they thought it was humors .. All in front of Children... Disgusting. read more

My husband and I were looking for a tree service to remove some trees from our property. I received four quotes and chose Northeast Tree because it is a family owned and local business, their professionalism and their fair pricing. Pam explained to me that the company was two weeks out and that all work was contingent upon the weather which made perfect sense. The weather cooperated and on July 30th Northeast arrived precisely at 8:30 am with a crew of six and four trucks and when they were done you would never have known they were here. They were meticulous about the placement of their equipment on my property and impeccable at cleaning up. I initially was going to take nine trees down and ended up taking an additional six because their pricing is so fair and very competitive and they were already here. Not to mention watching them work was very entertaining, from the climbing, to securing the tree to the boom, to cutting, lifting them over my house and putting these very large oaks and pines in the chipper was an incredible show to watch. I have only good things to say about this company and I will hire them again when the need arises. The next day they came back to grind my stumps with same courtesy and professionalism.
