Appalachian Beverage is definitely a mountain of a liquor store! Such an impressive collection here! I swear there was just about every type of alcohol you could possibly want. A lot of types I had never really even heard of or definitely hadn't seen in stores. Crystal Head Vodka is one of my favorites and they had 2 different types here- you might get lucky to see the basic one at any liquor store. There's definitely something for everyone here (as long as you're 21 of course). read more

I love this area , I have had family here for 20 years, we come up to visit every couple of years and typically have a great experience at this store. Today was not a good experience, our cashier was a larger, older woman with absolutely terrible attitude and customer service. We have checked out with her previously and every time we have had terrible service and been with great disrespect. All other employees are great and always have the most pleasant customer service. This woman needs to be seriously evaluated by the owners and possibly terminated if this behavior is not corrected. This is not the way you treat nice paying customers. read more

This is like the Disney world of liquor stores. I'm only disappointed that it's not closer to home. I had exclaimed "wow!" at least five times in the first minute of entering the store. It was well stocked, organized, and with extensive options for all types of spirits (hard liquor, wine, beer, mixers, etc). I found a delicious espresso martini in a can near the register. When I was checking out, the ladies at at the register asked if I'd tried it before and reassured me that it is delicious. I commented that Cafe Patron is nowhere to be found these days and they not only suggested an alternative coffee liqueur but also walked me over to the shelf to locate it. She told me if I didn't like it to bring it back. Great experience all around here, not for mention excellent prices. read more

Huge selection of bourbon. All the Buffalo Trace line was at least twice the retail price. Bottles of Blantons on the shelf at full secondary. Willet and others were the same. Retail places like this that are charging outrageous prices hurt the bourbon community as much as hoarders. Management was rude. I would not waste the time. read more

I have been coming to Appalachian Beverage for close to a year now and have experienced very good service, helpful staff, and a wide variety of choices throughout the store. When I discovered that they did not carry my favorite wine, I asked if they could order it for me. They had it there in less than five days, then gave me a call when it had arrived. Efficient and accommodating, as well as friendly. The person who helped me the first time I stepped into the store was a young man with long brown hair. He helped us with choosing the best tequila for margaritas and the best margarita mix for freshest, natural flavor. I have found that their ample wine selection is sometimes less in price than Walmart on some wines. They usually always offer to help me out to my car with my purchases as well. Top notch read more

we could not find a specific drink we wanted anywhere so i called here and Billy had it ordered for us so quickly so we were able to have it for our party! and kept some on the shelf for us!! the customer service is just phenomenal!. the only bad thing is they were out of the big ballz (the buzz balla drink) but I'm sure it will be on the shelf soon! We needed a few items for our cabin and decided to give this store a try. The selection was huge! We found everything we needed at a super reasonable price! The store was clean, organized, and had a nice aesthetic. The cashier who checked us out was super friendly! He was Making some jokes and talked with us for a few minutes! We had an extremely good experience in this store, the customer service was excellent. Definitely recommend going here if you need to stock up for your party, cabin, or home. read more

Excellently huge and diverse stock of fabulous beers and liquors. Not quite as many mixers as would be convenient other then those small 12 oz sodas. Not a biggie. Fun layout and decor. Selection good, however our experience was terrible due to one particular older woman staff member. My boyfriend had several encounters with this member during shopping and checking out, and finally ended with her yelling to us "I can tell you're not from around here" while in the parking lot. Who talks like that to someone? My boyfriend was very respectful the entire time he was in there. Clearly this woman has issues with customers who are visiting from out of town. The top pick for your beverage needs. The other option down the road is way over priced and doesn't have near the selection of Appalachian. Also no staff at all to help you. What I love about Appalachian beverage is there large selection and fast response team on the floor if you have a question. I enjoy my conversation's with the staff and there knowledge on the finer points of high end adult beverages. I also appreciate very much how well the owner treats his employees. Appalachian Beverage has a good selection and decent prices. However, there is a clerk in this store who has no business dealing with the public, an older woman with gray hair. We've been shopping here for some time and are good customers. This person has never been pleasant, but in my last visit she was rude to the point of incivility. This store is not the only one of its kind in the area. From now on we'll be shopping elsewhere, where the staff is both friendly and helpful and the prices are competitive. read more

I joked with the clerk about whether the case lot or 'old fart' discount was applied. Minutes later, I went back into the store and made another $100 purchase. The same clerk did not honor the discount. His excuse was that I did not request a discount. Really? Are you kidding me? He refused to provide a credit or refund the transaction as he became increasingly belligerent. I asked for the manager. There was no manager or supervisor in the store? Imagine that. I was given the card of Mark West, the owner who apparently presides over and condones anarchy in his establishment. When I called the number on the card, it was the store's number. The person answering the phone was even more evasive and belligerent than the one who refused to honor the store's discount policy. It took an argument to get her to take a message for West. There was no commitment as to when or if the message would be delivered, West would get around to coming to the store or if he would return my call. I am still waiting for my call to be returned. This is not about $5. This is about belligerent staff members who could care less about a customer spending as much as I have in that store with apparently consistently rude and belligerent staff and a totally unresponsive owner. This update concerns who I believe to be the owner of Appalacian beverage. Physical description is a short stout man with long straight hair in a ponytail usually wearing a baseball cap. Here Mr. owner is what customer service looks like: when a female customer buys six bottles, and requires a carton for you to put them into; you don't take her shopping cart away ignor her and continue to harass your all-female attractive staff. Here's how customer service goes: you offer to carry the carton to her car and thank her for her $110 purchase as you close her car door! You're very attractive female cashier offered to carry my carton but that doesn't make up for your lack of hospitality consideration and professionalism. You seem to be nothing but a bully and a micro manager/control freak and I know that you're all attractive female staff already know you're a jerk but I also now know it as well. I am not opposed to driving 25 minutes north or south to buy my beverages thank you for making me do it. read more

We don't live here but rented a cabin for a quick vacation. We visited places based on yelp reviews. And so far have been delighted. First off, this place is big and honestly has a little bit of everything. You can also create your own six pack (you get discount for a create your own too... I can't remember if it was 5% or 8%. Either way, awesome). Secondly my husband is constantly searching for a wine he likes. A really nice guy asked him what he was looking for and without any fancy technical terms he gave a few basic words and the guy totally nailed it! He found amazing wines in our price range and they are perfect. Next time we pass through we will be stopping here. It will be on our "must visit" list. read more

I heard they had a pretty rare beer in stock so I decided to call before I headed that way. I was told that since I was not "from Ellijay" that I could not buy that beer. So I suggest that if you are from out of town or passing through, stop anywhere else because your money and business is not wanted here. It is not good enough unless you are one of the 10-12 people "from Ellijay." I ended up finding the beer elsewhere anyway and I didn't have to do business with these awful people. read more
