Came in for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Our server could not have been more friendly and pleasant. She brought us all coffees and waters super quick and she made sure the coffee mugs were never empty! The breakfast meals were HUGE portions for the price. The buckwheat pancakes (stack of 3) and scrambled eggs with sausage was way more than I could finish in one sitting. I took half the pancakes with me. The flavor was as expected, nothing crazy! All of the baked goods up front were very tempting. I left with the special of the week, caramel apple pie cookie, and a salty pretzel cookie. Both were amazing. The cookie dough base isn't too sweet at all and it lets the toppings really shine. The decor up front is fun and festive. The seating is well spaced out and the bathrooms were clean. We were kind to her land she answered rudely and even rolled her eyes at us when we asked for desert and we couldn't find her and saw her in the back sitting at a table talking with another worker. The food and service were both good. I had Annie's breakfast and my husband had country fried steak. My husband says the country fried steak was "good." The sausage gravy on the breakfast potatoes was spicier than I expected and wouldn't get it again. But otherwise the eggs were perfectly over easy and the potatoes were crispy. The Italian bread was definitely worth getting for toast. Waitress and hostess were friendly and helpful. My order got mixed up a bit but they corrected it quickly (I wanted bacon as a side and they initially brought sausage). My husband wanted a refill of water that never came but otherwise it was fine. It was impressive for a diner in a small Appalachian town. This is a do not miss locally owned place for travelers and locals. Service is fast and friendly. There are so many good food options it was hard to decide. I had to go with a popular local food, pepperoni roll. It did not disappoint and the homemade chips went perfect. My friend got the homemade chicken pot pie, so big and delicious. A friend of mine told me that Apple Annie's had the best cookies in WV. Well, that isn't exactly the truth, these are the best cookies in the country. Chocolate Chip, Oatmeal, Caramel Pretzels, on and on, Yum, Yum, Yum. I don't know if Apple Annie's packages the cookies this way, but they would make a great Christmas gift Some of the other desserts looked equally as good as the cookies. We also tried an apple pie, which we thought missed the mark a bit. The crust was great, but the pie had way too much cinnamon. It was a truly enjoyable afternoon of good food, amazing baked goods, and holiday atmosphere! While sitting, the owner stopped by to ensure we were happy, and chatted for a bit - GREAT management! I ordered a cup of chicken noodle soup and Apple club sandwich that came with homemade chips and a side of cole slaw. The soup was the chunkiest chicken noodle soup and awesome!! The sandwich was delicious and loved the sides! Of course, I then had to walk down the long line of AMAZING baked goods - pies, cakes, canolis, cookies OH MY- there were a lot of Christmas cookie trays out on display and selling fast! We decided to get bakery items to go and they were delicious! I got the banana cream pie, cannoli, chocolate chip, and hot chocolate cookie. Today was our second time having Apple Annie's, so this is a 2 visit review. To start the Resturant is super neat and clean. The waitresses during both visits were very informative and polite. The Menu is huge. We got the Apple Jack Chicken sandwich with house chips , Chicken Tenders and Fries, and Pepperoni roll with seasoned fries and house made ranch. Everything was very good! Today we got the Coutry Fried chicken meal with green beans, along with the Salisbury steak meal with green beans and everything was very good! Both meals came with mashed Potatoes and gravy as well. Ordered a Philly steak hoagie that came with homemade (?) potato chips and a very small coleslaw. The hoagie was VERY lackluster. There was minimal cheese on it, the hoagie as a whole was only warm, and the "steak" was tasteless - poorly seasoned. Quite unimpressive. The coleslaw had a sweetness that I did not care for, I typically love coleslaw. The best part of the meal were the chips. At $15, the hoagie was extremely disappointing - I've had better at a Sheetz, cheaper as well. I would have given the restaurant one star were it not for the very friendly and attentive waitress. They are frequently out of pot pies, which is my favorite dish from this restaurant. The website has a link for online ordering, which is broken. It goes to a completely different company's website.
