We are visiting from out of town on a Sunday and looked to Yelp to help find something since we were tired of fast food and sandwiches. We were greeted by an extremely personable young man who ended up to be our server. We've traveled throughout the country and honestly have never encountered such thoughtful young man - - his name was Keagan. We decided on the liver & onions and grilled shrimp dinners. Holy cow it was a huge amount of food and each dinner came with a large fresh dinner salad. The prices were ridiculously low and now we're sad to be leaving the area and not able to try out breakfast! Great job! read more

This is the first time that I have ever been in an Apple Barrel Restaurant. Very dated interior. A reviewer reported that this used to be a Chinese restaurant. Yeah, I can see that. My wife ordered a fish sandwich, and it indeed was a fish sandwich. Overloaded with fish. Three large cod fillets with lettuce and a choice of bread. Sourdough for her with a side of crispy coated fries. A big fish sandwich. I had the Triple Decker (Club) also with the sourdough, and a side of chicken noodle soup. Check the pictures. The fish and the fries were the fast-food type from frozen, pre coated. The Triple Decker was also a good-sized serving of food. I doubt if the chicken noodle soup was made from scratch. The food was served fresh and hot. This Apple Barrel seems to be more of a fast-food type diner versus a from scratch prepared food type cafe. Looking for a new place to try breakfast while visiting relatives. This little hole in the wall gem was well worth it. My BIL had the waffle and said it was fluffy and very tasty. My SIL had the French Toast and said it was good. My wife had the Tuxedo pancakes and a side of bacon. She said the Pancake had a sufficient amount of white/dark chocolate chips to not make it too heavy. The bacon was phenomenal and had a great flavor and chew. I ordered the Sno Ball and I wasn't disappointed at all. The gravy was spot on, great consistency, flavor, and pepper. The biscuit was fluffy and very tasty. My friend had the two eggs with bacon and potatoes and biscuits and sausage gravy, and she absolutely loved every part of it, I taste samples hers and it I thought all of it was really good. She brought up that she thought the bacon was outsourced from a fresh farm because it tasted different like super fresh and yummy, and turns out that they harvest their bacon from Harvest Farm a local butcher out here. The fountain drinks were on point tasted really good and fresh and carbonated perfectly. you could tell locals come here it's got a really small home town vibe to it. They also sell mugs and trucker hats with their logo and they also sell house seasoning. My pot roast was $12.99 and that included the roll and dinner salad and my friends breakfast was only $6.99 she had a lot of food to eat. Bern here a few times. Arrived Saturday about 10:15-10:30 AM. Took hostess few minutes to decide where to seat us. Waitress acknowledged us pretty quickly. I ordered a bacon omelette. Cones with cheese. No complaint about the amount of bacon in it! Ordered home fries. Which were boarding on being cool. My husband ordered the melt dawn with all bacon. Lots of good. He couldn't eat it all. He said his pancake was good. My toast could have used a little more butter/margarine. I was able to take some from my husband's pancake. Overall pretty good breakfast. Just strange that they bring silverware in a little paper bag envelope type thing but no napkins until we got our food. Waitress was pretty good. read more

Service was good, but I can't find much positive to say about the food. Our order came out quickly, but was still cold. Bacon had the consistency of recycled tire mulch. Hash browns were just ok. Biscuit appeared to have been warmed on the flat top, and yet was still cold. Gravy had an overpowering amount of sage; what might it have been covering up? Hash browns had an off flavor. We've eaten at the Apple Barrel Cafe at 61st and Mingo, and it has been consistently good. The Broken Arrow location doesn't measure up. We won't be returning to the Broken Arrow location. read more

Seemed like the salad is endless, fresh iceberg lettuce, lots of crispy tortilla chips (always better than the old style shaped tortilla shell from days gone by), plenty of chili, cheese, tomatoes, olives and a sliced half avocado (many places don't add avocado) on top. Never a problem asking for more salsa or sour cream. Server was friendly and checked back often. read more

Went here on a whim for family dinner. Was pleasantly surprised while walking in and smelling an odd odor. However, with angry kiddos we didn't have much of an option. When eating our food there were cold spots and warm spots where certain areas were more cooked than others. The service was adequate but nothing to rave about. This being one of several Apple Barrel cafes in the area, I will say this... they're consistent with their food. The food is almost always on point (I've had couple misfires), hot, tasty and filling. Service is always great, with the servers being attentive and friendly. On my most recent stop at this particular location, I was looking for a bite of breakfast while The Wife was having a minor procedure done. Since #CovidNonsense, I wasn't allowed in the waiting room, the building, and barely even the parking lot, so I needed something to bide the time. I ordered coffee and the Snow Ball, which is biscuits, eggs, sausage all covered with gravy and a side of hash browns. This is pretty much my regular ABC breakfast choice, and it always hits the mark. As with the other locations, service was great, to match the food. I really wanted to like this place, but the service was a lacking and the prices too high. The decor was pretty cool tho. Reminded me of a Cracker Barrel... hmmm.... maybe that's where the name came from. I was in town for two days for a class and was in a slight hurry to get there before 8 am. The only breakfast thing I could find that was plant based was the oatmeal. She told me that it was just plain oatmeal, so I asked to add craisins and nuts. I also ordered a glass of OJ. When the ticket finally came after I flagged her down, there was a dollar to add nuts and another dollar to add raisins. I was pretty frustrated that it was served with plain raisins and not the craisins that I ordered. There was maybe two tablespoons of nuts and two tablespoons of raisins in the huge bowl of oatmeal. The 8-10 oz of orange juice cost $2.60 - I'm pretty sure that's how much a whole jug costs. I waited on the waitress to come by more than half the time that I was there. I usually eat here at lunch 1-2 times a month with friends but first time in years for breakfast. Wow! The food is fantastic as food at lunch is! My guest got Eggs Benedict, his favorite breakfast, and declared them "perfect". I had the breakfast special of two sunny side up eggs (perfectly prepared) with grits and a huge pancake. Menu price only $5.99 but special was $3.99! Where in today's world can you get an outstanding breakfast for $4 bucks! And the coffee was always being refilled. Service was great! 4 of us adults just went to your location in S Broken Arrow. It being Sunday afternoon you were super busy . This was my first time there. Everyone else had been there before and talked me into trying it out. First the poor waitress was very overworked taking care of several large tables forgetting us at times. So the service was on a scale of 1 to 5 , a poor 1. Then the food was disappointing for every individual. I cannot believe you use Kraft boxed mac and cheese. I can do that at home. Basic. The chicken fried steak was good. Sides to it were basic eggs, hash browns. Do not order the Nutella Strawberry crepes. They used frozen, soggy berries and the dish was SOAKED in a gelatinous strawberry 'sauce'. It was the worst crepe dish I have ever had. We had just finished bowling at Broken Arrow Lanes when we searched for a close restaurant to have a late lunch. It was about 2pm. Apple Barrel Cafe popped up and it was super close. My son and I shared the triple decker on sourdough with a side of onion rings and my husband ordered the Reuben sandwich with onion rings. For starters the waitress brought the triple decker sandwich out already cut in half on separate plates since I told her that we were sharing it. That was a huge plus in my mom book!! The sandwich was loaded!! They sure do not skimp on the meat. It was soooo good. The onion rings were delicious also. My husband loved his Reuben sandwich. He hadn't had one in a long time and he said that it definitely hit the spot. Another huge plus was we were offered to-go drinks when we were done. I wish more places would offer that. We loved that it felt like more of a small town diner than a chain restaurant. We will definitely go back to try some of the breakfast and dinner options. You have gained new customers. read more

They have a decent chicken fried steak! It actually looks hand breaded and fried, NOT FROZEN! Woo-hoo! They are harder to find in Oklahoma than you would think. That was my favorite thing about this place, that and their french fries. My wife got a meatball sub with fries, and of course I snuck some fries to try...for scientific purposes only, of course. They had a great crunch like they double fried them. I was bumbed out by their mashed potatoes and gravy though. They both tasted like they were instant. I don't know why would have homemade chicken fried steaks with instant gravy and mashed potatoes, but that's what it was. I also ordered carrots which came out completely devoid of any seasoning. Then had to listen to another waitress argue with the kitchen staff about a cinnamon roll that was supposed to be to go. Then literally watched her take food with her bare hands and move it from one plate to another and scream that the order was wrong. Apple Barrel Cafe is a good option for breakfast in Broken Arrow. They offer the usual, as well as blueberry pancakes, waffles, cinnamon rolls and omelets of all types. I can't say as the food is awesome, but it is definitely good for the price. The atmosphere is cozy, home-dining type, and the service is good. There is a room for groups, but they are picky on who can use it. Apparently, they have a lamp that requires too much electric, so they don't put groups in the room unless they have too. We have been disappointed because of this. One time they stuck several of us in a back cubby and it was terrible getting in and out. Not a good time. Other than that, I don't have any complaints. If you are looking for a reasonable breakfast, this is a good choice. read more
