We've been going here since the '80's. The food and ambiance is what you would expect from a classic American diner - hubs loves their Reuben, their omelettes, and I like their pancake breakfasts or the fish and chips. Service is prompt unless you're in Chelan on a holiday weekend. read more

Somehow the Apple Cup lost its charm...... - gone are the giant breakfasts - the pancakes and waffles used to come with 2 large eggs, now just 1 small egg. A second is available for 2.99 more. (See photos from previous visits compared to this visit. - I watched other breakfasts being served, all were smaller - the wait staff used to be charming, full of energy, and engaging. This morning, Saturday at 945am they were like robots (restaurant about half full) - the whole meal was very uninspiring, Apple Cup used to have "energy" on the weekend. A truck stop in the middle of a desert is better than this place! We were there for breakfast today (Jun 11 2021 around noon). The waitress can't be more rude! My daughter order crispy hash brown potatoes and it took three times and were still soft! It took longer to get the check than the whole ordering, eating time... We always visit every year when we come to the Lake Chelan, today the service was awful, the 2 ladies who interacted with us didn't even give us a smile, food was ok, but they didn't ask if we needed something else, my husband had to get up from the table to look for the waitress to ask for the check, also, we had ours kids, but it seemed like the don't like kids at all, I don't think we will come back to this place. read more

After a long day trouncing around Lake Chelan, we wanted to stop somewhere to get some dessert. This was one of the few places still open a little later in the evening so after a quick Yelp search, we stopped here. The place wasn't too busy in the evening. They had quite a few items, on the menu for dessert and every one of them was homemade which really helped out the diner feel of this joint. As we were only going for dessert, I can't comment on the regular breakfast, lunch, dinner menus. I will say though, as I sat with my two friends chatting about our journey to Chelan through the snow covered pass of Snoqualmie and the ice and the rain & about life, it was another one of those moments when you just realized how fun & humbling life can be. It was just three people sharing a moment on a short day-cation with not a care in the world. We were just sitting in a diner at 8 o'clock at night, having good conversation over a warm slice of apple pie with vanilla ice cream. It kind of reminded me of a "Golden Girls" moment without the "Golden" and the cheesecake and sans one member of the gang......Sophia! So I guess not so much Golden Girls, but you get the point. Anyway, I'm really glad they were open somewhat late. We even thought about going back for breakfast because they had some really great combo deals for a breakfast menu and their breakfast I believe started at 5 or 6 a.m. We ended up going down the street to Campbell's for breakfast but this Apple Cup Café is definitely on my list of places to eat the next time I come to Chelan. 1.5 stars. Update: my vegetarian friend got a veggie omelet and there was bacon in it :( sad... It's the only brunch place in chelan that can hold large groups pretty much. We always end up here after our annual trip with a group of 16. Food is mediocre but it's something. The eggs bernaise sauce is kind of tasteless and fatty. They also served us burnt toast to see if we would eat it pretty much, but didn't give us trouble when we asked for non burnt ones. There are flies everywhere and kept bothering us as we try to eat. My boyfriend also found hair in his chicken fried steak but it was past the point of doing something about it so it's whatever. If you have a smaller party there is definitely better options in town. read more

3.5 Stars. Each day they have a special and Monday's special was the Meatloaf. Ordered that along with their Chicken Fried Steak (CFS). Both plates were served with corn and mashed potatoes and a roll. Also got a beef stew type soup that came with the CFS that was very delicious with tender beef. Meatloaf was the gravy based variety and not the tomato based one (the one I don't like) and worked well with the creamy mashed potatoes and corn. Same for the CFS. Diner style food, good service and overall decent value in Chelan. read more

Rude! Very rude! Went there for breakfast this morning. Because there were two places everyone suggests when looking for breakfast in town. We walked in, got seated in a dark bar looking area. It must be their overflow dining area. They saw that we had our puppy with us. Waitress asked us what we would like to drink, I ordered coffee. She brought my coffee and she took our food order. I started sipping my coffee. She then came and said -I am sorry, we don't allow dogs in here unless they are a service animal! You'll have to sit outside. Oh ok!!! We were like fine, we will sit outside. We walked out. There are 3 tables outside. Trucks passing. Busy road. Dusty, loud. I continue to drink my coffee. No one comes and checks on us. 20 minutes goes by and still nothing. Finally, a girl pokes her head out the door and says -your food is ready at the counter. My husband and I looked at each Other like WTF!!! We have to bring our own food out?!? He went inside, just to be told. We don't serve food outside. Our food was packed to go. What a customer service!!! We were speechless. I would've just left the food there and walk out but my husband paid for it. We just left. Went and ate at the Blueberry Farm. Where we were treated better and our dog was welcomed. read more

This is a great little cafe to have breakfast. First of all, everything we tried there was done very well and delicious. Second, the staff was very nice, professional and did a great job with a large crowd EVERY DAY we were there. This is exactly the kind of "mom and pop" restaurant we like to eat at. A decent restaurant. I've been here numerous times throughout the past several years. We've come for breakfast and lunch. The portions are big and tasty. The staff are friendly enough. It seems to be the typical greasy spoon that could be a little more consistent. Today we got a variety of things. I got a grilled chicken breast with some streamed broccoli and I was pleased with the good flavor. My boyfriend got the cheese burger with fries. He liked it and commented that he preferred the lunches here to breakfast. My daughter got the French toast with eggs and bacon. Her opinion was that it seemed middle of the road. Had a family dinner here on a Saturday night. Our service was very prompt and the meals were all delivered at the same time which was nice especially since our party of six ordered many different types of foods( appetizer entree, breakfast meal, pasta, and fried food). We had a drink spill and the waitress was so nice and made the child in our group not feel self conscious about it. Everything was very good. Holding back the 5th star only because I found it slightly pricey for diner food. It is a high tourist area so all the restaurants are more expensive in the Lake Chelan area. Fun cafe with great service even though it was a bustling day. I wouldn't say the food was spectacular but was definitely very delish. The price was fair. I had chicken fried steak with pancakes and my wife had blueberry pancakes. I've had chicken fried steak better elsewhere, but it was still good. The gravy was excellent and the blueberry pancakes were spot on. The only reason I'm not giving it 5-stars is because I rarely give 5-stars in general. It has to be fandidlytastic to hit 5! I love this place ! It's our families favorite place where everyone in our family can find something to eat ! Love the Rueben sandwich and my family loves the Spaghetti. Their Bloody Mary is food also and ask for a double for $1 more. Don't ignore the Apple Cup when in Chelan. This restaurant has everything. Breakfast, lunch, dinner and even a lounge. We got seated very fast even though it was a Saturday. Staff was friendly and food was delicious. Fluffiest pancakes and fresh squeezed orange juice! Great prices too. Highly recommend and will definitely return! read more

Food was okay- customer service was awful. Prior to entering the restaurant my 4 year old had taken a huge fall- he was bleeding and had a huge goose egg and cut on his forehead (we walked from our hotel). He was okay but hurt for a little guy. I asked if perhaps they had bandaids, she was able to find me one- I asked for some ice for his forehead and they gave me a rectangle hard frozen pack that you would like put in a cooler- they didn't give me something to wrap it in. Like I can apply that to a goose egg gash...I understand it isn't there job- but human decency. We had no napkins or silverware we had to ask multiple times for them and napkins Food was slow and some food dishes were cold. Kids got the kids meal and drinks were $2.50 with that. They charged $4 for each juice so I asked about it and the person who did not take or deliver our drink orders argued with me about the juice the kids ordered. They didn't clean up our plates, or offer to help with spills or offer to heat up cold food. Overall it was not a good experience. Our waitress was put off every time we asked for anything- like napkins and silverware. Too bad. read more

Our annual breakfast stop when we visit for the Fire & Ice Festival..... sometimes more than annually if we are lucky enough to visit again. I really thought I had reviewed it in the past and posted some picks, but it doesn't look like I have. Unfortuneately this I did not have my favorite - the Zorba the Greek omelette - tried new things! Ranchero was good (no sauce) but I would probably go back to my favorite next time. Always great food though, can't go wrong with a choice, and great friendly service. You may have to wait on busy weekends..... it is worth it! read more

They don't take Covid protocols seriously here. A group of us went here for breakfast. One person stayed in the waiting area while the rest of us waited outside in the parking lot because no one was wearing g masks. We were seated in a back room which was well spaced, but elsewhere it was packed. The person in our group that waited inside came down with Covid 4 days later. O one else did and we had been quarantined together before, and he was only at his home afterwards. I can't say positively that he got it here, it was the only place we went, and at the ti e we had second thoughts, should have trusted our gut. Everyone vaccinated, he got pretty sick, and his wife 4 days after he did. The rest of us confirmed negative with home tests and PCR testing after he let us know. Oh, and they screwed up two of our orders, and took forever to get a cup of coffee, they seemed short handed, probably were. Still good food, I'd recommend take out. read more

I come to lake chelan for my birthday and I walk in today at 8am in the morning (writing this at 8:30) and I came with my family (two teenagers and a baby) this lady who is short and Hispanic came to "greet us" (not even saying Goodmorning) and made us sit IN THE BAR!! AT 8AM WITH KIDS. She didn't even ask us what to drink just ran around. I left 3 mins after being seated in the bar. I asked her why and she said because she no longer had space in the other area for family. She also tried to explain to me in Spanish and English why we couldn't sit. In the family area (very wrong in both languages) won't be coming back I didn't even get to eat. I felt discriminated because one the bar and two lonely by my own culture. My family and I were really impressed with this diner-like restaurant. It opens daily at 6am, which is great if you're an early riser. It has an authentic, non-contrived diner vibe: not fancy, not retro, not pretentious in any way. Down-home friendly servers (we had Tina, who was genuine and lovely). Home-made comfort food with reasonable prices and huge portions. What's not to love here? We ordered various omelets and pancakes and everything came with a ton of sides (English muffins, bacon, hash browns, eggs on the side, and more), and everything was fresh and perfectly cooked and prepared. No way we could eat everything. We thought it whimsical how they have different kids of chandeliers above each booth. I liked how the bathrooms were clean and well-stocked. Everything was great here. Terrific place. If we lived here, we'd be here a lot. And very overweight. read more

We got back from Chelan this afternoon and I'm so glad we stopped by this place before riding home! We had a group of 10 so they had to split us up but they managed to seat us right next to each other which was great. The service here is amazing and the waitresses are super friendly. Coffee is free here too! I shared the chicken country fried steak meal and that was so filling and satisfying! I also ordered a side of sausages, that was kind of greasy but still good. Our friends really enjoyed their breakfast burrito too. The food came to us in record time, I was so amazed and impressed. Overall, this place is sooo welcoming to tourists so I highly recommend stopping by this joint for breakfast, lunch or dinner, because they serve everything all day long! read more

Apple Cup is straight up adorable and was exactly what we needed after our travels from Colorado. The menu is incredibly broad and has options for all. We opted for a chicken salad sandwich and a rueben, followed up with fresh apple crisp al a mode. The chicken salad was literally some of the best I have ever had and I'm so sad I live far away and can't have that on a whim! My dining companion said the rueben was also amazing. The apple crisp was the real winner of the lunch, however. It was simply divine! If you're a tourist, do yourself a favor and enjoy some of Washington's fresh apples in either the crisp or the pie.
