My father is a retired vet on a fixed income went in spent over $4000 on a mouthpiece that did not fit his mouth not only did this dentist not offer to retake the molds. She asked him to leave and will not refund him. I absolutely do not recommend this practice. This woman is not a nice lady. This is a money business. They do not care about the people that come in so vulnerable to help them with their mouths. If I could give negative stars, I would. Do not go to the dental practice. read more

she was great, until she wasn't. Julia is very smart and a great dentist. I have a rough sense of humor, so it's hard to offend me. The last time I was there in 2022, most of her staff was leaving. As others have said, you could feel the tension. She was giving me a shot in the roof of my mouth . As we all know, this isn't comfortable . of course she had her hands on my jaws, as she needed to. But I was breathing out my mouth in discomfort. She clenched her hands tighter on my jaws and told me " to calm down! You're fine!" I was done after that. it was awkward, weird and almost confrontational. I do love Barb, so I was sad to go. But that was to much for me. read more

I have been getting my dental treatment at Apple Family for many many years, and my teeth are the much better for it. I get check-ups and teeth cleaning twice a year and have also had a few crowns placed on teeth that broke due to the poor dentistry practices of my childhood dentist. All the work that I have done has held up great, and no discomfort or pain. It has been my experience that Dr. Gourley takes the extra time and effort to do exceptional work and to get a very well fit "bite" contact on the crowns that she did. And my dental hygienist Teresa has done the same level of quality for my teeth cleaning, and all with a very warm personality and pleasant conversation while working. All of the office staff have been great as well. When the cleaning or other work is done, setting up the next visit and managing the billing is pleasant and efficient. read more

It is my fault for not finding another dentist sooner, but I did hope that things would improve...they didn't. It has been six years since my (first) review of this Dental Office (2017). I have since stopped using their services. I "Gladly" gave 5 stars then...and, now I wish could give zero or 1/2 of a star (as a caveat to others), and I do wish this weren't the case. *My opinion and honest review, and I speak as a former patient: Sadly, so many of the long-time employees left to work elsewhere, and I sensed that they were unhappy before leaving...nothing was said, but there was a feeling of tension/unease. There were three occasions where my concerns regarding services in which I was less than pleased, and when I shared my feelings, it was "Spun" to where it was all my fault, or that I am too picky. I was, however, able to get a full refund for a poorly designed dental appliance after illustrating the faults, yet still, there were negative comments made to me--and done in a manner to hopefully suggest the person was joking...but, I got the message! The straw that broke that proverbial camel's back was after they provided me with (what I consider) garbage...and then essentially told me I'd have to live with it until a lab could manufacture one, and to quit complaining. After reading, and then re-reading their comments, I sought and found another dentist. In essence, I will not be spoken to in that tone...and pay them for it, as well! The dentist, Julia, was great...until she wasn't. She was funny and charming...until she wasn't Something changed, she changed...it seemed as if she had lost her easygoing, softer approach and attitude toward the patient. She became like she was on edge, impatient, tense. Whatever it was that happened, it was reflected in her work and interactions. I felt the most recent services provided to me were not close to the prior services I had received. I cannot recommend this dentist, and I sincerely do wish I could...but I feel things have changed there, and not for the better. read more

I was a patient at this dentist office . My upper dentures cracked in May, 200.00 plus appointment fee then August they cracked again 200.00 plus 70.00 fee . That lasted six weeks they cracked again . I called them they told me to go else where . The woman dentist has no social skills as she told me we don't work for free , well they don't stand behind there work . They only want money , money . I would not recommend this place to my dog nor would I take my cat there either . They are the worse dental office I ever in countered in my life . Anybody that goes there beware . The hygienist, assistants, reception, all very transparent in explaining what is happening, why, and how you will be charged. I'm happy to give Apple Family Dental 5 stars. No business is perfect of course, but they have done enough in my experience to get the "Full 5." I base this on three factors: . The fillings I've had done were so expertly applied by Dr. Julia Gourley, that I literally felt nothing after the work was done. Not even that sense of pressure you usually feel after dental work. This on two separate occasions. So that's pretty much 'perfect.' . The insurance offered is very fairly priced and covers a lot of work. . My hygienist, 'Breezy,' is the best I've ever had by far. When I was a younger guy, I didn't take care of my teeth as I should have. In my defense, my mouth is small (not according to my parents!) so flossing is difficult. Breezy really cares about her clients, folks. She takes an extended time with her cleanings and it's not just because my teeth need it so badly. In other words; other hygienists have had to deal with the same challenges but have spent about half as much time. Finally, Breezy made helpful suggestions to me- in particular to get an electric brush which has really made a difference. She's also shown a guy with a smaller mouth the best way to floss. Flossing lessons? Yes. It's MUCH harder to do with a small mouth. Above all- it's the time and attention that Breezy applies that make such a difference. If you live in Longview and vicinity there are a lot of options in the crowded dental marketplace. Apple Family Dental is a very good choice. read more

I had a horrible toothache. I don't even think horrible describes my discomfort adequately. I came in upon opening at 8 a.m. on the day of my 1:00 appointment and said "I'm in so much pain I can't stand it anymore, is there a way you can squeeze me in this morning?" Even though they had a solid booked load of patients for the day, they got me back in a chair and x-rays done and a quick inspection to determine the immediate problem. I needed a root canal. It was going to take a couple hours still before she could squeeze in a root canal, which she actually sacrificed her own lunch break and did the root canal during said break, and to keep me out of discomfort during that time, she gave me a quick couple shots of Novocain and a prescription for antibiotics to fill while I waited. I came back and got my root canal done and as of a few hours later, I feel fantastic in comparison. I don't have dental insurance, so as a cash paying customer, this is a VERY expensive procedure. They have a QDP plan that after paying an upfront fee discounts many procedures by 40 or 50%. I saved hundreds off what my bill would have been by purchasing this plan, and it's active for a year so I can squeeze in more comprehensive dental visits and address a few cavities, teeth cleaning and x-rays all at a discount. In addition to this .... ALL the staff were very courteous and accommodating. I would recommend this Dental Office to anyone. read more

I can't stand this dentist. I went in for a simple sore spot (I have dentures) and she talked me into a $1000 new reline. Now I can no longer keep my teeth in my mouth without dental adhesive. And she says there is nothing she can do about it. What a huge waste of money and she is also very rude if you don't agree with her. And a bit scary. Just don't go. read more

I have used this dentist on and off since I was 13 years old. I have never had a problem with Dr. Brown or the work performed. My only issues have been with their billing "department". A single person that, although tries to be available throughout the week, only does billing one day per week. And when you call they make sure you know you may not get her til the next Wednesday. oh and you should call her back during their business hours, which is not generous. When you have a billing issue, she can't figure out how to fix it. So after 7 months of attempting to fix I finally had to do her job for her! They need a separate billing office or someone more committed to the job than they have. I think they have since changed their practice to new dentists so perhaps you will have a better experience with their billing team. read more

My father has been being seen at Apple Family Dental for 35+ years. He in recent years has had to get the dental implants. Dr. Julia Gourley who is "certified to place dental implants" according to their website, has been the one working on my father's implants. From the start my father has had problems with his implants and has had to make several trips back in to have them worked on. He pays out of pocket for these appointments and procedures. Today he went in to discuss how his implants still don't fit and they are causing him pain making it impossible for him to eat. Rather than trying to help him with these issues the Dr. told him she only did the dentures out of the kindness of her heart and he can leave without them. He is a throat cancer survivor so eating for him is already difficult and makes it almost impossible for him to gain weight. He has paid thousands of dollars for these implants to help him be able to eat more foods but has yet to be successful due to the shitty work done on his mouth by Dr. Gourley. read more

I went in on a new customer special and decided to continue based upon my initial experience with the hygienist (Breezy) and Dr. Gourley. It's great to have a dentist who shows you the issue and explains what needs to be done; replacing two very old crowns in my case, along with some fillings. Not fun, but felt I was in capable hands during the entire process. I've found the whole staff to be friendly and professional. read more

What I can say is good about Apple Dental is their receptionist(s) and care staff. Very friendly and caring people. I did not have a very good experience with my so called treatment plan. I knew my teeth were in bad shape, but to have a treatment plan developed for me stating what needs to be done and going along with it, and then when my insurance renews, I am told I will lose all my teeth any way. . . was disheartening to say the least. I thought I would be getting a partial in January and paid up in advance towards my portion. I had to go in for pain in a tooth that was already worked on. I had it pulled and this is when I was told I would be loosing my other teeth that had already been worked on. I have yet to get my advanced money returned to me. I would be very cautious in dealing with Apple Dental. I work in social services and by no means do I have money to waste. . . I wasted good hard earned wages here. . . read more

I have never wrote a review for a place before, but after my last two appointments, I thought it was worth it so others know this place is not worth going to. I have been going to this office for many many years. I have been extremely unhappy there over the last year or so. Since I hate going to the dentists office anyway, I haven't changed because I figure I don't go that often and just deal with them. The hygienist that does the cleaning is great, very nice and friendly. However, the rest of the office is terrible. The billing is all screwed up. They have made so many mistakes. They have screwed up appointments, service is bad, communication is terrible, billing is terrible. The new dentist that just recently took over is the worst we have experienced. After almost 40 years of going to the same dentists office, I have finally had it and switched to a new dentists office. I just hope the new one is better. read more
