Disappointing service experience! I scheduled an appointment for a battery replacement. First my scheduled appointment was late for 30 min. Once I finally sat down the technician told me to leave the phone overnight and pick it up the next day. For most people, a smartphone is an essential daily tool for work and personal safety. Expecting customer to go without a phone for 24 hours for a standard battery swap is not reasonable. Apple needs to better manage their repair timelines and respect customer's time. read more

I came in here desperately seeking to be seen (as a walk in) for the Genius Bar. Expected to wait an hour to be seen, and an hour for them to start/finish work on an iPhone. Randy was personable and Charlie was super sweet. Took 3 hours from walking in/walking out but they did an excellent job in taking care of an urgent issue! read more

Calling this place a Genius Bar when everyone working here struggles with basic customer service interactions is kinda funny. Whoever manages this spot, I'm begging you to train your staff to learn the social cues of someone looking for help, especially since the only person standing in one spot with a helpful sign nearby is unable to move or call over one of their colleagues to help, please get a better system here. After trying to set up a new phone in store I hit multiple activation walls that none of the staff could figure out so I had to leave. I had an easier time activating my new device at home because you need multiple apple devices to set up a new one and there's no design to help someone with only one device set themself up. I recently visited the Apple Store at Fashion Place with an unusual situation: I was trying to help my daughter fix her broken iPhone, but she wasn't able to be there in person, so we had to coordinate everything via email. Alejandro Sandoval (Ale) was incredibly patient and kind throughout the entire process. He made me feel like my issue was the most important thing on his plate, never rushing me despite waiting for responses. Quick summary: Really terrible customer service. I went to the store to initiate a repair of a MacBook Air that was only 8 months old. I arrived at noon. The screen has a 1/4 inch vertical line of dead pixels. No damage, just defective. I did not have an appointment, and expected there to be some wait. I live an hour away and this is the Apple store closest to me. There were almost 2 dozen employees standing around talking to each other throughout the store. I was told that only a technician could check the device in for repair and that one would not be available until the next day. The other employees that had nothing to do were not capable to look at a defective computer, call it defective, take down my info, and take the computer for the repair. That was too hard for them. I find this a ridiculous practice. I get it if it were something other than an obvious defect. What really struck me was the complete lack of empathy from the employee that I spoke wiif. He could not have cared less of the inconvenience that this caused. That my daughter, a student, would be without her laptop for the repair. No care for the amount of time this was taking out of my day. Nothing. Just come back tomorrow and go straight to hell. Apple manufactured a defective machine and now I am out half a day of my time and my daughter will not be able to use her computer for school for 2-3 days. They care so much about the engineering of the products, making them a delight to use...I only wish they cared about how their employees treat their customers. I will never go to this store again. Being rather aged as Apple Stores go, the Fashion Place Apple Store has a certain level of grime to it. I'm an Apple fanboy, and I'll take every opportunity to dip into this store, but I always leave feeling a little sticky. It's busy and loud, but staff tends to be quick to spot you when you need help. The single weird experience I had there was when an employee pulled us aside to spend over 20 minutes talking at us about his recent vacation, holding the phone we just bought the entire time (and, therefore, keeping us as a captive audience). read more

I've never had an experience like this happen to me..... Had an appointment, the lady checking us in greeted us, the moment I reminded her that we would need a Spanish speaker her attitude towards us flipped, she became rude and told us to "go over there and wait to be helped". We obliged and went to take a seat, half an hour passed.. "they are prob busy" we thought, no biggie, we kept waiting, an hour went by, I kindly approached a tech and nicely asked about how long the wait is for appointments‍.. he checked and saw that OUR APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELED! He apologized for us waiting an hour and getting canceled on, for NO reason and kindly helped us.... I'm at a loss for words, have never experienced something like this.... She was nice until I mentioned that we had that request for the appointment.... Just got 4 new iPhones for the family, but think we're going android asap.... Went there to see what's wrong with my iPhone, I can't download the pictures from it to my external drive anymore for last couple of months. Had to make an online reservation for my 5:15 appointment before hand. After arriving there 5 mins before my appointment, they checked me in, checked my temperature and asked me to wait in the line. They called my name at 5:25. Unfortunately the specialist at the Genius Bar couldn't fix my issue, but suggested I first backup my stuff in iCloud (had to buy the 2TB space for $9.99/month because I have 208GB :( ...200GB is $2.99/mth) & then call the Apple Care people for help as they have more expertise and ways to help me. Will call them tomorrow and REALLY hoping that they will be able to help me this time! I'm actually very happy with the service I received at the store (even though they weren't able to fix my problem) because they paid attention to my problem and gave time to me even after they knew they can't help me :P The store was very neat and clean. I'll be honest, I really despise coming here. Whenever I need to visit, I know it's going to be an ordeal because there are only a couple options locally to take your Apple product for support. And at least half the population has an iPhone or other Apple device, and will eventually need some kind of help. So it's always nutso busy here. That was the case today when my son and I visited to get his charging port fixed. He made an appointment online and when we showed up at our appointed time, there was a line out the store into the mall of fellow patients looking to get our devices healed. After about 20 minutes, we were matched with an associate who was able to help us. It turns out that this visit, once we were assigned to a technician, was an easy fix-pocket lint had built up in my son's phone, rendering the charging port useless. She cheerfully cleaned it out, then confirmed the phone charged as it should. While we were there, she also offered to do a diagnostic on the phone and advised my son on a few things he could do to ensure the best lifespan and care for his trusty digital pal. I felt like she gave us great attention and took good care of us, not just quickly dismissing us as another idiot customer that shouldn't carry their phone in their pockets. read more

I arrived at this establishment at 12:30 and did not leave until 3:30. I came in for a simple iPhone diagnostic and had to wait two hours to be helped. The staff is not very knowledgeable here. It took them an hour to look at my phone and tell me it would be $500 to fix and took forever to get my new phone setup. If you are looking for quality customer service stay away. read more

I have apple care plus with loss and theft protection. The highest level of Insurance that apple provides to be sure that I was never without a phone. Well, my screen now has some horizontal lines in it so I schedule an appointment for the Genius Bar after getting there, two hours before they close, they tell me that they have to hold my phone overnight I am just absolutely pissed about this. I should not be without my phone. The apple care is bull. You get better service with Asurion with an overnight replacement. read more

Went with my girlfriend today to look at options for either repairing her MacBook or trading it in for a new one. We were waiting an uncomfortably long time before we were helped. Then once the trade in was set they hurried us to a sales rep that clearly didn't know what she was doing and as a result all of the information we needed transferred to the new MacBook is gone. So now my girlfriend will be behind in all her work, all because some seasonal hires kid didn't know what they were doing. read more

Unfortunately Zane was less then helpful & more of a waste of space . He ran a diagnostic on my iPhone 13 ProMax the result was that everything was running properly. I explained to Zade I'm visually impaired & there has to be something more that could be done to prevent my phone's backlight to darken as I cannot see it, he said the only thing to do a would be a factory reset. I again I explained I'm visually impaired and resetting the phone cannot be the only solution as I will have a difficult setting it up, he was adamant that would be the only thing that could stop the phone from darkening, I informed him. I thanked him for not helping and left the store. After calling customer support a number of times I was finally able to speak w/ someone who actually took time to work through changing some settings after researching and using their text line w/ supervisors & was able to help accomplish a resolution to my phone's issue. I highly recommend NOT scheduling an appointment w/ Zane at the Genius Bar & request a different representative who's willing to take the time to work w/ you instead forcing a factory reset to your phone to resolve your resolution. I haven't been to an Apple Store in years, ever since Apple Maps came out, ruined my life, and pushed me to get an Android. I can't say I missed it. I own a MacBook Pro for app development. Like every iPhone charger I ever owned, the cable managed to start fraying to the point it stopped working. This hasn't EVER happened with any other electronic charger I've ever owned, yet happens all the time with junk Apple chargers. I love tech. I have more random devices than anyone I know. No broken chargers. All used just as much or more than my Apple chargers. It's annoying. Apple chargers a premium price on their products, yet the overpriced charger effortlessly falls apart. It's frustrating. After being recommended the wrong charger (the "Genius" recommended the 60 Watt Magsafe 2, I needed the 85), I found the right one. Then I started the search for someone that could check me out. A few years ago they did this really stupid thing where they got rid of cashiers. This then made it a pain to try and pay them. I made a couple laps around the store looking for someone not busy with other customers, before I found someone. That guy couldn't check me out, so he helped me find another guy who was busy talking with someone. Finally I got to pay them and was on my way. I'm not sure why they thought that was a good idea...I just want to get in, grab what I want, get in line and pay. Minimal interaction please. Hopefully I don't have to go back for another couple years. I assume I'll have to replace the charger yet again around then. read more

Well what can one say when you need expert assistance with your iPhone and the Verizon store tells you they can't fix your phone and you'd be wise to take it to Apple to have them look at it. So, instead of switching out my Phone for a refurbished phone (because my phone is still under warranty) or upgrading to a new phone (phone is 8 months old) and paying difference, I just drove from Orem to the Apple store in Fashion Mall. I checked in. I described my problem with the phone. Apple tech ran diagnostic test. Said he'd be back. Then he came back 3 minutes later and my phone was fixed! So easy. So sweet. And a very good experience. You can't beat troubleshooting by the manufacturer! My phone work Fine now. No cost. No hassle (other than a bit of a drive). Way to go Genius team! read more

I was turned away at the door because I didn't have a reservation. I know the emblem has an apple on it, but when did Apple become a restaurant? And how is it good business practice to turn customers away with cash in their hands, literally having a bouncer at the door to throw her arms in front of me and say "Hey hold up buddy!" I'm not your buddy! I'm a customer who already knows what he wants and I am ready to buy! A reservation? For what? Do you assemble the computer in the back? And hello! I'm not buying headphones or any other small accessory. I AM BUYING A COMPUTER FROM A COMPUTER STORE! You just turned away a sale for over $900!!! I thought the people that work there are called geniuses! You need to have reservations to get into the store. You can make them on the spot for a future time during the same day or another day. We were able to get in 45 minutes after we made the reservation. It would be nice when they tell you, it's your turn in the store that you need to wait for the next available employee to get help. After standing around for several minutes I walked up to a staff member and asked for someone to help and he explained that we are on a list and staff will be helping us next. Everyone who worked with us was very informative and gave us all the options to help us make the best decision. My husband ended up turning in a phone and getting a credit and purchasing a new phone. The only issue we ran into was that we needed to keep the old SIM card because his plan wasn't setup with 5G and he had to go back into the store twice after leaving that same day to get it resolved because the phone wouldn't activate. The second time going back they wouldn't let him back in and had to reexplain the issue until the original staff walked up to help. That part was frustrating to work with them to get the SIM card. read more

Very disappointed of this Apple store. Their supposed Apple "expert" knows less than me about regular iPads and iPads Pro. She didn't know the answer of most of my questions, she asked some other "expert" and still didn't got the answers for me. I let her go and played with the iPads at the store for few minutes, then left. I drove few minutes north from the Fashion Mall and bought the Apple products from Costco and Best Buy. The manager of this store should not let employees work at the floor if they don't know their products. I will never visit this store again. read more

I went to the Fashion Places store this morning. They refused me service. There is no mask mandate in SLC, but would not let me in with out putting one on. I made an appointment online, showed up 10 minutes early and the only way they knew I was even there was to ask someone how to check in upon arrival. There are no signs indicating any sort of check in process at all. I was told someone would help me in 10 minute- great! I waited 20 minutes PAST my appointment time and still not one had helped me at all. I asked and was told someone was already helping me- nope. I waited another 10 minutes without anyone helping me and I left. I doubt I'll step foot in this store ever again. I'll shop elsewhere, where my business is actually appreciated instead of being seen as a disposable number. The wait time doesn't bother me as much as the required appointment, no acknowledgement from staff, and the indifference at staff completely missing your appointment. Unfortunately that wont make any difference for Apple but maybe someone else will have a more positive experience than I did as result of me bringing attention to this experience. read more

I have to leave a review in regards to this place. my wife bought me Apple AirPods from Sam's Club back in December of 2020. They all of a sudden stopped working. I went to the Apple store and they told me that the AirPods were counterfeit. My wife had bought these AirPods from a legitimate store. I have also been purchasing Apple products for almost 10 years now. The manager was not willing to help me out even though the Airpods came in Apple packaging. When I asked the manager about the issue with Apple allowing this, his response was "there is no way that we can prevent all counterfeits. It sucks to get scammed." I felt that this was very poor customer service and he also wanted me to always purchase from the Apple store so that I will pay full price. I highly recommend to stay far away for this terrible place. read more

Well, been writing reviews for years and this is my first one star review ever. Hard to believe it would be for an Apple store, which I have generally enjoyed visiting over the years. The customer service at this location is frankly the worst and most disappointing I've ever encountered. Today we had dropped in (twice) hoping to buy a new computer but both times were asked to wait for a sales associate even though we were "on the top of the list." Meanwhile, customers walking in the front were greeted by associates and sent for immediate help. We checked to see if we would ever be helped and were again assured we were first in line. Apparently we were in their line that never gets served however. Finally a manager came by and reminded us that a "lot of things happen at the store" and that 6 sales associates had called in sick that day. Evidently one of those "things that happen" isn't actually selling any of their products. Most of their associates were gathered around tables talking. We had already made up our mind about what computer we wanted so our entire transaction would have only taken a few moments but regrettably we didn't get a sales associate before we had to leave. Note, this was a Thursday afternoon and there were no more than 5 or 6 customers shopping in the store and at least a dozen associates were visible as we looked around. There was a tinge of racism displayed that we'll address directly with Apple. Not certain it was intentional. Overall we usually get excellent service when we shop in an Apple store. I can definitely understand all of the very low ratings this location has received. There's no chance we would go back. P.S. - We stopped at Best Buy on the way home and bought the computer we wanted (it was actually $100 cheaper there anyway). Their customer service was excellent. read more

I went in on a Saturday..probably not the smartest thing to do. 1 1/2 hour wait with a possible push back if anyone else needed more than the service they asked for. Very busy. Like very busy. I made an appointment for the next day. Service was fine. Nothing extraordinary but polite nonetheless. Manager came to check in, I was 10 mins early to my appointment. I was probably out of there in an hour or less. My phone and battery were out of warranty so $80 it is for a replacement phone for mine that had a swollen battery. Store seems well stocked. Wahoo! I can't even begin to describe how happy I am that there's an Apple Store at Fashion Place mall now! No more trekking downtown when I need (yes I said NEED) a new apple product! And this means for all the people who want to get their grubby little hands on the iPhone 5 next month--like me, there are now 2 stores people can camp out in front of ;) Hopefully that means twice the inventory for the valley as well. This store is laid out similar to the gateway location with tables for you to try out the many different versions of all things Apple. This place continues to be a chaotic disaster with little apparent management oversight. Took me 15 minutes to find someone that would let me pay for a dongle. Go to the City Creek store, unless you need a part they don't have, which sadly was my problem today. December 1, 2018 update. Went back to get a new iPhone today. The staff was remarkably uninformed about the dual sim and current Verizon lack of support. Their lack of understanding made me leave without a new phone. These guys are a mess. Following my own advice from now on and wiping this place off my list. read more
