I'm so disappointed with this company. My husband and I have both tried several times several ways to get in touch with this company about the fence we paid for. It's leaning almost falling over due to the wrong size posts being used by Apple fence. I feel so taken by this company. I have never had a company cheat me this badly. A good company answers the calls and emails of their customers that paid a lot of money to them. A good company would correct any issues! Never do business with this business. I am reporting them to Angie's list and calling better business! I am still in shock that they never called me back to correct their mistake! Sir- you come out here and see I have 8 ft posts with an 8 ft fence. I still have it!!! Your people put the wrong size posts in. After living in our house for ten years with very minimal large-scale projects, we knew it was time to do some sprucing up. Our wooden privacy fence was starting to lean and even provided our pup with a "window" through which to see the world via a picket that had fallen off, so I delved into fence company reviews and gathered up a pile of bids (six, to be exact) from fencing companies to replace our tired fence. I ultimately chose Apple Fence, and I'm so glad I did. Our estimator, Natt, was easy to work with, very patient with and responsive to my MANY questions, and diligent with the follow-up. He provided me with a clear, written bid - something that I've come to feel is important when it comes to home improvement projects, so there is no misunderstanding regarding the scope of work to be done. And I truly felt like he cared about and wanted our business, which is more than I can say for the large majority of the other companies who bid the job. And when the time came for installation, Apple didn't disappoint. They built us a beautiful new horizontal, Western red cedar fence with metal posts at a comparatively reasonable price. After it was complete, we found a couple of nitpicky issues with it and they promptly came out and fixed them. We love our new fence and apparently, our neighbors do, too, as we've gotten lots of compliments on it. If it is true that good fences make good neighbors, I'm pretty sure we now qualify as great neighbors. When it comes to contractors, the salient question often seems to be, "Would you use them again?" In this case, I can confidently say, "Yes!" read more

I did my research and this is where I ended up. I use Yelp to help guide my informed decisions. I actually weight the responses and reviews here higher than any other spot on the web. This is the first time where I feel the feel the reviews were inaccurate. My HOA needed two gates replaced on the common area fence of a private park. The park is for residents and is used mainly by kids and dogs, which are both important to keep inside the park. Further, they needed to now include locks. I solicited three bids and Apple came back in the middle. Upon reviewing their proposal, we moved forward. The issues began when my contact, Brent, never made it out to the job site after the initial quote. He sent a team out to start the work at around 4PM many days after accepting the bid. Day 1, they ended up removing the old gate and installing the new one, but without any latches and in the wrong color. The gates simply swung open and closed, which obviously isn't ideal for corralling children and dogs. Therefore we lost a couple days of using the park. Correct, they did not return the next day. Things continued to deteriorate. Communication was made on my end and the responses started to take longer and longer. Ultimately, two new gates with locks ended up taking 6 weeks, start to finish. They spray painted the fence rather than removing and replacing with a powder coated version in the correct color. Upon "completion", they ended up installing the wrong locks. The correct locks ended up costing more, which after much discussion, we ended up splitting the difference. Fast forward two months, we had an issue with one of the gates not latching. It clearly states in the proposal that they warranty their work for 1-year. There was no damage to the gates or foundation of the posts. Without even looking at it, Apple denied the claim and said that since it is in a high traffic area, they cannot be responsible. I believe this is unreasonable. I considerable myself to be very fair. If you are up front, quick on communication, and show me that you are doing everything you can to get the job done, even if the results aren't 100%, I am most likely going to be pleased. However, with Apple, I felt nothing but neglect from the second I accepted their bid on behalf of the HOA. Based on the aforementioned reasons, I would not recommend using Apple Fence. read more

Asked apple for a quote via their web site. They didn't respond so u called. Came out a few days later. Looked at my less than 100 linear fence and said it's too hard. Call someone else. They refused to replace the existing fence. Really? If it's not easy peasie, I guess they can't do it. The funny part. I could easily do myself easily but I can't seem to find the time. Brad met me at our new home in NW Hills on a Friday, May 23rd. He measured and promised an estimate over the weekend if I would get him a survey. I emailed it the same day. After I sent three followup emails he replied 6 days later that he would be unable to provide me an estimate or to build the 800ft fence because it had rained two day prior? I think the job was just too big for them and the time frame (3 weeks) was more than they could handle. I wished he had been honest from the start. Fortunately I found another fence company that was able to complete the job on time. He didn't get any money from me and all I am really out is my time but Brad has poor communication is just not good at his job. In the end Brad's company lost out on a $7,500 job and I wasted a lot of time. I'm sure there are plenty of qualified fence companies out there. This just isn't one of them. read more

My dogs broke out of my old, decrepit fence one too many times and I decided that the risk of them making it onto 183 was a little to worrisome. I needed to replace my fence, the whole thing instead of patching it up piece by piece as they punched holes in it. So, I called the top 3 or 4 fence companies I found on yelp (austex, etc) and got estimates. Apple came in the lowest and as far as I could tell they were going to be using better wood than their competitors. Easy choice. That was back in May 2011 and the fence looks great. Apple also followed up quickly when my gate wasn't latching properly a few months after they installed it. I'd highly recommend them. And if you have dogs, it's definitely worth it to pay a little extra for beams across the bottom (to prevent escapes). read more

I think that we all dread the inevitable replacement of fencing; a major expenditure that is almost always accompanied by complications and some degree of angst. All in all, this was the most satisfying experience that I've had, with the fewest compications and follow-up work. The estimating was simple. Others tried to 'hide' potential clean-up, sprinkler damage, jackhammer, and other fees in the bid; the guys at Apple didn't. It was a 'good old days' type of arrangement where they simply believe it is their job to do careful and complete work. At least during my Spring project, they were very busy and the paperwork lagged a bit, but Jimmy was very professional and knowledgeable. As for the fencing and installation, it was great. Good quality materials, and the guys included little touches that others don't or charge extra for (like caps on the top of the metal posts). These guys (at least the crew I had) really knew their stuff; and made sure everything was done right. They were also sure to put everything back as it was (attachments to fixtures, etc.). And, everything was cleaned-up afterward. I can't say that it's ever pleasant to spend money just to replace something, but this was about as good as it gets... read more

I can't believe some of the negative reviews I've read on here. People complaining about missed appointments, poor communication, prejudice on size of project, etc. must be working for the competition because these guys simply ROCK! Our experience was wonderful. We called Brad and scheduled an appointment for him to come out and give us a quote. We already had in mind exactly the type of fence we wanted. We have a 210 foot fence with a single 5 foot gate. The quality and workmanship was top notch. First day was tear down and they set the galvanized steel posts in cement. They did an excellent job cleaning up and making sure not to harm the neighbor's shrubs and plants. Day 2 was spent on putting up the wooden slats and toppers. They said they would start on Wednesday and it would only take 2 days to finish. They met their goal and my wife and I were very satisfied with both their professionalism and their courteousness. I promise you won't be disappointed with these guys and as soon as I figure out how to post a picture of our fence I will. read more

BEWARE of this company!!!! We contracted Apple Fence to build a steel fence at the entry to our property. Normally the sales guy comes out and lays out the plan with the customer first. But instead, Apple fence sent a crew out without a plan, and without calling us to let us know they were starting. My wife came home to find that the fence was half built, and called me. When I got there, it was all wrong. Rather than follow the fence layout that was in the rest of the neighborhood, they drew a straight line from each end point, that went a few feet from the street! they had the posts cemented into the ground and were already welding on the cross pieces. It was completely in the wrong spot, which should have been obvious to anyone looking at it. Eventually Brad, the owner came out and promised to make it all right and move the fence to the correct spot. However they delayed over and over for a few weeks, and eventually stopped returning my calls. I had to pay another fence company to remove the bad work, and put the fence in correctly. On top of the fact that they put it in the wrong spot, the posts were not in the ground deep enough. ( I have video of grabbing the top of the fence and wiggleing it back and forth more then 2 feet due to how loose the posts were) Also they did not weld the fence to the existing neighbor fences, as was done in the rest of the neighborhood. Also the welds were very poor, with gaps. Just a terrible job. I have pics to show all of the problems. read more

$3k+ fence and 3 months later gate wouldn't close at all. We had to put a huge rock in front of gate to keep dogs from getting out. It was wrongly built against a big tree that sways and knocked off line -bad. After 10+ calls and 6+ months of complaints I had a guy come and fix it. 3 months later because it wasn't fixed right or built right my gate would not close again. I called and emailed pictures and nothing. No call back despite multiple calls. These guys don't care. Just know if you have a problem after installation you are on your own. I called Apple fences and they claimed someone by the name of Israel would call me back to set up an appt to come out to my home to give me a quote. Two days go by and no return call. I call them back and got their voice mail but was able to connect to Israels own voice mail. I lleave him a message stating what I was told about him coming out to my place to give me a quote. No call back. The third time I call, I get their voice mail yet again, mind you, all my calls to them were during the business hours, left them a message. I haven't heard back from the. The estimate: Both my neighbor and I wanted horizontal fences in our backyard. Apple's estimator (Israel Wheeler) came out on several occasions and discussed many options with us. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. Their estimate was significantly higher than Viking and Patriot but the owner agreed to come down $250 on the total job. This still put them higher but we felt that Israel's service set them apart. The scheduling: We had a Friday start day that got pushed back to Monday. I got an email confirming the start time but come Monday morning, nobody showed. We called and finally spoke to the owner (Brent) who said the job is getting pushed back to Tuesday (we had a hard stop of Wednesday that they were aware of). We explained to the owner that a landscape company was coming in on Wed and he replied 'what does that have to do with me'. He never once apologized and said he felt threatened when I said I would be sharing my experiences on Angie's List/Yelp. The work: The crew (Viejo and others) showed up early and worked hard till Tuesday night. Wednesday morning came and there were conflicts with the landscaping company. They weren't able to work on my gate because of equipment coming in and out. This is what we were trying to warn Brent about when we first called. Brent called me Friday and wanted an explanation as to what happened. I told him this is exactly why we were upset that the job kept getting pushed back. He felt that the landscape company owed money because he has to pay gas, etc for his crew. The landscape company also removed a post for the gate that Brent was upset about. If the job was done on its original date this wouldn't have been an issue. Still, we paid a $75 trip/post fee to have them finish. The guys finally finished up and the fences look good. Their crew really did a great job despite their owner's attitude. Summary: If you're flexible with time and money isn't an issue then go for it. Their work really was good even though it was more expensive. If customer service is important to you then LOOK ELSEWHERE. The owner is in the business of customer service yet he lacks any of the necessary skills. 'What does that have to do with me' is never an acceptable answer when I'm paying them thousands of dollars for work. read more

At this point, if I could give them no stars I would. Which is a real shame because Apple Fence put in an amazing fence! It's really well done, was to our specs and put up really quickly with a hard working crew. Now, 1 year later we are just appalled with their customer service. For the past 6 months we have tried calling everyone that we worked with to have someone fix the latches on our gate that they installed. This is the MAIN gate to our street. We have dogs, and kids and this needs to close properly and NOT ONE PERSON has called us back. It's ridiculous. From all the rain the wood has expanded and the latching mechanism won't work on 2 gates now, but the most important gate we have - won't close! We live in the city, and it's not that hard of a fix but with zero communication on their end, it's just so sad! Hopefully someone gets their follow-up fixed around there!! read more

The fence they built looks great. They worked pretty fast to get it done as well. However, their customer service and communication skills are horrible. Brad claimed there is a 10 year warranty on his work but refused to email us any relevant paperwork stating that he didn't have enough time for that. There were multiple miscommunications during the build. I would not use them again. Ironically, shortly after our fence was built, a friend told us they had used Apple too. They had a similar experience with poor customer service and the company refusing to uphold their warranty. read more

Called to get a quote on our backyard fence since our neighbor had contracted with Apple for theirs and the work looked very good. They gave me a date and time for a consultation. Then they never showed up. Calls to the estimator went unanswered as did my emails to the office staff questioning why the guy never showed up. So like all the other bad reviews out there, these guys are just going to waste your time with missed appointments. Don't bother with the frustration. read more

Apple Fence installed a new fence last week at my property. They took longer than promised and the fence is not to the standard that they stated it would be. After they left my sprinklers system did not work. I contacted Calvin Toole at Responsible Rain to fix the sprinkler system. Calvin did an excellent job and showed us where the fence company cut the wires of my sprinkler system and then covered it up with mulch. I contacted the owner, Brent Mullens, and requested reimbursement for the cost of repairing my sprinkler system. He refused to do so, stating his work was contracting work and they did not warranty sprinkler systems. If I could give this company no stars I would certainly do so. Do not use this company for any fence work. read more

A week went by and I still did not have a estimate. I called the rep, and he said "I e-mailed that days ago." The rep had my business card with my e-mail on it. I gave him a alternate e-mail, still nothing. I asked him to fax the proposal.....I received two faxed copies both not legible. Apple built a great fence at a good price. Isreal responded very fast, quoted on the spot. Miguel built it to last and worked his @$$ off and used all high quality materials. They jackhammered my Cedar Park limestone ground 18" deep, used all cement on the posts(no dirt.) They cleaned up afterwords and the fence looks great. During a storm a few weeks ago a tree limb came off one of our trees & bounced off the fence like a twig. read more

Two of our neighbors recently had fencing replaced by Apple, and recommended them to us. They were happy with the work they had done. Apple just finished replacing one side of our backyard fencing and made us a new wooden gate. The two gentlemen who came out worked really hard and got it all done the same day. It looks great and they cleaned everything up well afterwards. I was impressed at the questions they asked me during the day about how I wanted certain things done. It really showed that they cared about the work and about pleasing us with the finished product. The only thing holding me back from 5 stars is the 2 weeks we waited once the deposit was in. I would use them again, and recommend them to others as well. read more

I didn't know anything about this company until we agreed with my next door neighbors that it was time to replace our pathetic fence. My neighbor did all the research on Angie's List and price comparisons and came up with Apple Fence. The crew or two that came out were so polite, asked lots of questions every step of the way, cleaned up at the end of each day. Great job. We were so pleased that we called Apple Fence to come back the following week to give us a quote on the other side of the yard and starting talking to the other neighbors. Within two weeks, we had another side of the yard done and are still very happy. The second side of the yard was done by a crew that was even better than the first--I couldn't believe it was possible. Next week, Apple Fence will be back to finish the job and do the back side of our yard. This took a little longer to negotiate since that fence is shared with three different neighbors. But I'm excited about getting it done. Brent Mullen--the owner of Apple Fence was great to work with, as was Israel Wheeler, the estimator. Call them. You won't be disappointed. Apple Fence just completed my fence yesterday and everything was done as promised on time and at the quoted cost and looks beautiful. I chose Apple Fence because their estimate was the best and I just really appreciated the can-do spirit of Israel, the man who came out and did the estimate. Other companies said no, we can't do this and we can't do that--the whole fence will need to be replaced. But Apple said otherwise and sure enough, the project is complete. I also appreciated Ray, one of the men who actually did the work. He was professional and was willing to consider a suggestion I had made about working around a particular tree to make the fence more stable. I will need more fencing done in the future and will definitely use Apple. No need to get any estimates--they're my go to fence people now! read more

I'm very impressed with their work and the pricetag. I got three fencing quotes for 100 ft of fencing and wound up getting a proposal from Apple for a three-rail fence with 3/4" western red cedar pickets (as opposed to 5/8") and steel posts for cheaper than another company quoted a TWO-rail, wood post fence. Israel came out at about noon to look at what I needed and had the proposal to me that afternoon. They were only about a week out on booking, and a crew of two came out and knocked it out in a single Saturday, asking me questions along the way to make sure they were doing what I wanted. read more

If you're about to hire someone to replace your fence, I suggest you skip getting a bid from Apple Fence. Here's what happened to me, and I suspect you could expect the same sort of thing. 4/8/16 - Israel from Apple Fence sends estimate document. 4/19/16 - I finish getting estimates and sign the paperwork from Apple Fence. 4/21/16 - Israel responds and says he'll get me next in line for installation. No installation date is given. 4/26/16 - I receive an invoice from them for the total amount, "due 4/26/16." I don't feel particularly comfortable sending a check to a company without even having an installation date, so I e-mail asking for the date. No response. 5/5/16 - I call Apple Fence and speak to the receptionist asking if there was an installation date for me. She said yes, they have me scheduled for Tuesday the 10th. 5/10/16 - I take off work and stay home waiting for the crew to arrive. At 2:30, I figure no one is coming, so I call Apple Fence to see what's going on. Receptionist puts me on hold for a few minutes, and then comes back and tells me the owner is on a conference call and will call me in a few minutes. 40 minutes later and no call. I call back again to try to get a confirmation that no one is coming so that I can leave the house. The receptionist says no, no one will be coming today. Then the "conference-call-he'll-call-you-shortly" story again. No call, but I later receive an invoice that states I have to put half down before they will schedule me. That coward couldn't be bothered to talk to me. A "gee, I'm sorry about that. Things got mixed up" was all that it would have taken for me to be okay with the whole thing. Sending an invoice with a new stipulation that was not on the initial invoice, however, pissed me right the hell off. 5/12/16 - Same invoice gets sent again. They were already fired, so I ignored it. 5/14/16 - I have my hands full cooking breakfast in the kitchen when I hear the doorbell at 8:45. I figure it's the usual weekend morning solicitor, so I didn't drop everything to go to the door. A couple minutes later I hear some strange loud noises outside. I turn the stove off and peek outside and there are two guys demolishing my fence. I ask them to stop and not do any more, and I run inside to call Apple Fence to figure out what is going on. No answer. I call a couple more times and finally the owner picks up. I ask him to call his guys off because no one showed up on Tuesday (so I fired Apple) and no one told me anyone was coming today. He got snarky and *told me I was lying* (that exact word) because he was standing right there when Jennifer called me on Tuesday and asked if they could come on Saturday. So the coward wouldn't call me, and apparently his receptionist ended up calling SOMEONE and scheduling for Saturday, but it sure wasn't my number. I have zero incoming calls from Apple Fence. Nice job- screw up and then call your customer a liar. I'd advise avoiding this outfit. read more

I just used Apple for the second time in three years (see 12 27 17 yelp review) to install an additional 150ft of privacy fence and 2 gates in my backyard. Fence is square and straight, with just the right gap at bottom. Project was finished in two days, and my backyard was left impeccably clean when the job was done. Frank Nunez and his crew were professional, polite, and made a difficult job look easy. Neighbors who shared the cost for installing the fence have nothing but good things to say about the work as well. read more

I give Apple Fence Company ZERO stars. They installed a decorative metal fence at my house. The bottom of the posts are rusted and rotting and need to be replaced after 2 years. I took some pics and went to another fence company in Georgetown. The posts Apple installed were cheap foreign posts not the American-made lifetime warranty ones we were promised. They explained to me that when the posts are cut to size, they should be cut on the top and capped with rubber tops to prevent rusting. These post were obviously but on the bottom resulting in what I have now, rusty posts that need to be completely replaced. I tried reaching out to Apple Fence service times via email and phone messages but got no response. I am very mad! read more

Most larger fence companies like Apple have one or more outside salesman that will come out and discuss your needs and measure for a fence. Once they realize your job is small say under 100 feet you get put on ignore. I called them back to give the go ahead and they never followed up. I almost rather have the salesmen be more up front about what their willing to do. read more

Apple Fence did a great job replacing my 6' cedar fence - about 160 linear feet. Jimmy came out very quickly to estimate the job and was very thorough and knowledgable. He was willing to spend as much time as needed to provide clear explanations to all my questions. Miguel and his team came to start work within a couple of weeks of me signing the bid, which was pretty fast considering Austin had just experienced 2 windstorms that blew down many people's fences. The quality of the cedar pickets was even better than expected, a full 7/8" thick, compared with the 1/2" thick pickets installed on the original fence. As Jimmy promised, the wood was #2 grade, with no open knots. I opted for the metal frame gates, with metal posts on each side (I went with treated posts for the rest of the fence), and I"m really glad I made that choice. The gates are incredibly sturdy, swing beautifully, and latch with a convincing "thud." I was amazed to watch the crew cut and weld the frames onsite. The guys did lots of hard digging in the limestone, removing all of the old posts and concrete and digging deeper holes. They did neat, careful work with excellent craftsmanship, and cleaned up all debris completely. Although Apple's price per linear foot was about the same as Viking's quote (and I couldn't even get anyone else out to bid due to the recent wind storms), Apple's job was far cheaper overall because they don't charge extra for digging (Viking would have charged at least a couple of hundred $ for that). Also, their gate prices were less than half of Viking's for the metal gates. And because my job was over 150 feet, one of my two gates was free (except for $50 extra for the metal instead of wood frame). I highly recommend Apple and definitely would use them again. read more

Yes, they are cheap -- but definitely I regret not following my gut that "you get what you pay for." The installation was terrible and the customer service was even WORSE. They broke a huge clay pot and tried to blame it on me. Then after I got back from vacation, I noticed they cemented over my existing sprinkler head. Unfortunately, this was after the grass was dead. Their response -- they're not doing anything to fix it! Total jerks and poor quality! I would steer clear of this company. read more

If you're thinking about using this company, don't. We along with our neighbor's contracted with this company to replace two fences on 3/24/14. Two months later they WORKED us in. The two men showed up with sub-standard material & threw up our fences. They were drinking on the job. Our neighbor made them stop. The next day two other men completed the job. Some of the pickets we have are dark & several are cracked & one is missing. We have tried to get the company to replace the bad pickets & put in the missing one in but they won't return our phone calls. read more
