I have friends in Alhambra who absolutely love this place, so they took me here for lunch -- and I'm glad they did, because it's not necessarily the kind of spot that would've stood out to me or that I would've chosen on my own. We had a large party (7 people) but it was easy to get a table and even bring another table over to accommodate us all. The atmosphere inside isn't really anything special, but the service is stellar and the food is good. My ham steak was one of the best I've had in LA -- perfectly cooked, and a nice ratio of meat to fat. My eggs scrambled with cheese were a solid option, though next time I'll probably request french fries instead of the hash browns. And next time I'll ask for my English muffin toasted well done, as it came out warm but not crispy at all. My friend ordered pancakes that looked amazingly fluffy, and another friend enjoyed her churro waffle, which looked spectacular. LOCATION - Plenty of parking with no time limit. You'll see their large Apple Jacks signage in a bright yellow. You can't miss it. From the outside, the windows are very tinted and it almost looks closed but as soon as you enter, it's a completely different story. The walls are bright "egg yolk" yellow, filled with cute farm house decor. FOOD - I ordered the BREAKFAST BURRITO, which was a nice size! It had hash browns, eggs, bacon, ham, and cheese. I also got their salsa on the side. I do wish the hash browns were a bit more crispy but overall, I give it a 7.4/10. I also got their CHURRO WAFFLE COMBO and the combo plate was comforting and delicious. The Churro Waffle itself was so good! It had a robust flavor, full of cinnamon and cajeta. Sweet but really good! I give that dish a 9/10. SERVICE - Our waitress was super nice, happily helping us the entire time. Everyone who works there moves fast but it doesn't take away from feeling welcomed. The service is very fast, they are constantly attending to our needs or wants, the food is amazing with great big portions. The staff was cheerful and very personalizable. I love to try new restaurants and give them the benefit of the doubt. I was excited to see a churro waffle and Mexican breakfast items. I can not express how disappointed I was from the service to the food. There seemed to be only about 3 people working at the restaurant, and 1 of them was cooking and serving tables. The food was a 1 or 2 (at best) out of 5. The coffee was terrible, and the food took sonlong to come out even though there was only our group plus 2 other tables. My wife and I have been customers at Apple Jack's for several years now and shame on me for not writing a review sooner. We have brunch here once a week...on some weeks twice. We fine the place charming, the food excellent, and the service friendly. I am particularly fond of the Waffle Combo, although the Churro Waffle is also top-notch. Their hamburgers are among the best I've ever had. The Monday special is Spaghetti with Meat Sauce and my wife feels it is as delicious as the pasta her Italian grandmother used to make. If all this isn't enough, their prices are very reasonable. All in all, Apple Jack's is highly recommended. read more

Not from this area so I googled breakfast spots and Apple Jacks came up. Read reviews and decided to stop. I'm glad I did. It's a small storefront. Food was good, service was great. They only take cash, so I was glad we had some on hand. I had pancakes, if you enjoy a thick pancake, you will want to try, for me, I wish they were a bit thinner, but, they were very tasty. I'm not saying their service is slow but you can tell that everything is made fresh and that takes time. The cook/owner I assume was very sweet and kind. I ordered the French toast meal and personally, I like it but I don't think I would order it again. My friends ordered the omelettes and pancakes. They really enjoyed it so I will be trying that the next time I come. The place itself gives me a "home" vibe which I do believe that you can enjoy having conversations with your families/friends. I miss Pauline but since Maria bought the business I love having the choice to order Mexican food. I had the best Chile rellenos last week. Maria is keeping the old menu but adding more goodies. The place has a new look plus it's Clean! Hi again! It's been about 3 years since my last review and I still have nothing been good review to share. Maria serves veg soup everyday except for Tues. when it's chicken noodle, great! One of things I like about Maria is she will make something up for you that's not the usual, for instance I like my chorizo and eggs with with the chorizo on the side, not mixed with the eggs, No problem! There's outside seating so you can have that second cup of coffee and enjoy chatting with your friends and not feel rushed. And let's not forget the low prices, can't beat them. First off I jumped on Yelp because I was so hungry and saw this place was 2 miles away from my location so I said let's go!!! Of course they are following all of the covid guidelines so I wasn't worried at all. They take cash only but take Venmo as well. I went with my aunt and after she ordered she asked what the cake on the counter was. The woman behind the counter replied churro. "Yummy" I said. She in turn asked if we would like a sample. Of course!!!!! So she gave us a "sample" but it was an entire slice. A perfect amount before we ate. The nice woman said to give her about 15 min to make our orders. So we went to the car and waited. This is a very old fashioned décor, dilapidated charm. This is not IHop. This is the greasy diner you come and cheat on your diet with. I would not advise to eat 7 days a week but it was fun eating their burger special and the pancakes.
