Chef's has been a staple in my childhood and am so glad it is still around. When you enter, it's exactly as I had remembered with the booth seats, a little worn out but comfortable. The large glass panes that let in the morning's light creates such a cozy atmosphere. Growing up in the area, this was the brunch spot for my friends and I when we were in high school. We would each order an egg dish and coffee to pair. Their egg dishes come with either toast (white, wheat, sourdough, rye) or their biscuits and homemade gravy (delicious but heavy). My go to order is the corned beef hash, eggs over easy, and wheat toast. I do have to admit the prices have vastly increased but Chef's gives you a well crisped large corned beef hash patty folded in half and a large portion of their hash browns. The flavor profile of that combo hits every time! Their coffee is served black with a variety of sugar packets and Delight creamers of your choosing at your table. The toast comes with a variety of smuckers jam to use as much as you like. Chef's will always triumph over any other chain breakfast spots around here in terms of portion, quality, and nostalgia. We have been going to Chef's for the past 10 years or so. It is the kind of restaurant that's harder to find these days. It's a one-of-a-kind, family oriented place, with original offerings. They even bake their own pies. Chef's has great food, ample portions, reasonable prices, and a friendly atmosphere. I lived in Arcadia for 30 plus years and I've always driven by Chef's tell myself that I need to try so today was the day that we came to this charming old school diner. There was a coupon in the Arcadia Quarterly so we decided to give it a try. I ordered the Hobo Omelette with bell peppers and my boyfriend got their Corned Beef Hash and Eggs. Each plate came with Biscuit and gravy. There was so much crazy. I thought it was soup at first. The food was lightly salted, which is perfect because then we can control how much salt we put in the food. Everything was really good and their service was awesome. First time visiting shift, coffee shop. Went for breakfast before soccer practice and had great service. Staff was friendly gave us a lot of information about the various special. We wanted to try all the basics. So we ordered two budget friendly specials, number one and number two. The portion size for a budget meal was good. We enjoyed it and will definitely be coming back. I love the feeling of seeing retirees enjoying the café/coffee shop dining experience. Ok. The food is good here, even if the prices have gone up but I'm only giving it 2 stars because of a particular waitress. It's the older main one whose been there awhile. I swear everytime I've been she's only gotten worse and it's my fault I keep going back for the food. The service was alright also, a lot of younger people, they didn't come to refill our coffee or water at all and it wasn't busy but oh well. I've been coming here for more than a decade and change and this time capsule, pulls some of the simplest and most filling breakfast combos for a great price. They are senior friendly and accommodate specific specials for our elderly. I come here for the 8 oz steak n eggs with hash browns, a half stack coffee and oj. With a slice of banana crème, coconut cream, or blueberry cream pie to go with my coffee. Their omelets will drop you to sleep because they are packed. The Belgian waffle is thick, crispy and fluffy. Wait times vary but whenever we have gone and needed to wait for seating it didn't take longer than 5-10 minutes. Their table turnover times are very quick. I usually get some kind of omelet here and they are all very good. This time around I got a Texas omelet which comes with peppers, onions, and chili on top. My fiancé got the Denver Omelet which has a lot of veggies. Tip: get the salsa on the side. It goes great with that dish. The biscuits and gravy are super yummy too. This is definitely an "old school" diner where the interior has not been updated since the 60's or 70's. It even has a lot of bubble gum/toy quarter machines. When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted by a young lady who took our name for the wait list. As we were waiting, we noticed an older woman (turned out to be the younger girl's mother) being rude and abrupt as she called people's names and seated them. This same woman ended up being our server. She was more polite as a server, but it was a turn-off to have her randomly bad-mouth other customers to us. Cute little diner! I was really craving some pancakes and this place did not disappoint. They have a parking lot in the back and I was surprised to see the diner bustling at 1pm in the middle of the week! I was seated quickly by a very polite server who did a great job in checking in with me throughout my meal. I ordered the blueberry stack and a side of hash browns. The portions are HUGE. the blueberry stack consisted of three fluffy pancakes, each rolled and filled with blueberry compote and doused with even more blueberry compote on top. It was a little too sweet for me but still very delicious. Even the side of hash browns came in a very generous portion. Fun little place!
