Chicken katsu, Chimichurri steak with 2 eggs and 2 banana macadamia nut pancakes
    Melissa C.

I've never had mac nut pancakes before and was dreaming for months about trying them. When I had my first bite, that exceeded all my expectations!! Already planning my next visit :) Clean interior, quick service, order and pay up front and choose your own seats! TIP: ADD $4 FOR A SIDE OF BANANA MAC NUT PANCAKES TO YOUR CHIMICHURRI STEAK Chimichurri steak with 2 fried eggs and 2 banana macadamia nut pancakes: 5/5. I'm always conflicted between sweet or savory for breakfast, but this solves all my problems. The banana mac nut pancakes were perfect - so fluffy, not too sweet, so many bits of macadamia. Chimichurri steak was yummy, but I'll try ordering it medium rare next time if they allow me to. All this for $24 is such a steal. Chicken katsu with rice and mac salad: 5/5. Bouncy, snappy pieces of chicken that are not dry at all. Seasoned so well!

I finally made it for lunch one day after reading reviews about this cozy cafe. Aloha Stacks is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch (6:30AM-2PM). I had an enjoyable experience and meal. The food was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. and authentic. I placed my order at the counter and waited for my food to be ready. I had the Chicken Katsu, the sides available were Macaroni salad and Steamed rice. This meal is fit for a King (or Queen), with two scoops of rice and a extra large Chicken Breast. The chicken was moist and tender with a nice crisp crust. There was enough food for two meals at one reasonable price. The restaurant was very clean, the decor was cute, with bamboo trim on the sage green palm wallpaper. The music also set the scene for memories of the Hawaiian Islands. I can say I had a mini Hawaiian getaway here in California. The customer service was top-notch and worth a drive to El Monte for your favorite dishes: - Macadamia Nut Banana Pancakes, Kalua Pork Omelet, Loco Moco, Spam Musubi and more. Sincerely, Rosemary

I've been here twice. Both times were good. The first time wasn't super memorable. Like I remember it was decent but nothing mind blowing. I came here again recently and it was fairly busy for a Wednesday morning but I was still able to get a seat. Tried the POG and it tasted fresh but still just ok. Didn't bring me back to the islands per se. But I appreciate the effort. I got the chicken katsu loco moco. I was leaning towards the spam loco moco cause I didn't really want something fried but it was the same price so I figured the katsu was a better deal cause it's more skill. It was such a large plate. Like easily two people could share it and maybe a third. The gravy was solid. The chicken wasn't dry and was good. Spam musubi was good but I wish it was fully wrapped cause my rice broke off towards the end. I got a guava toffee French toast to go for my daughter and she said it was good but it literally just tasted like cooked bread which I guess is what French toast is but I guess when it's done right it's transformed more. This wasn't the case. She also could barely taste the guava. All in all I'd come again if someone else wanted to try it but it's not something I'll be craving or coming to when I miss the islands.

Back for those Ube pancakes! Did not disappoint! More delicious than I ever imagined! No syrup or butter needed, eat it as is! I'm glad they serve this as a short stack otherwise I would have been in a food coma because we also got the sirloin loco moco and some kind of Ube coffee drink. Loco moco is always my daughter's go to dish. This time they had a sirloin steak topping! Service is always top notch! There is a parking lot! Which is a plus!

This cafe is located in a small plaza with limited parking so parking can be challenging I ordered takeout and got the Loco Moco ($15). It comes with two eggs on top so I got them over easy. It also came with my choice of m at and I chose chicken katsu. The eggs were decent and nothing special. However, the chicken katsu was very dry and not crispy at all. The brown gravy was very salty and overwhelming. The rice was probably the best part since it was soft and fluffy. The Ube Coconut Pancakes ($15) were good. I was impressed by how big the pancakes were! It had lots of shredded coconut so I definitely had coconut in every bite! The texture of the pancake was a bit chewy and soft. The Ube lacked flavor so I couldn't really taste ube at all unfortunately. It came with Ube sauce but even that didn't taste like ube and just purple food coloring. Overall, I was not impressed with the food even though the portions were very generous.

Husband and I came for the first time for breakfast and it quickly became our FAVORITE breakfast spot! The food was SO delicious! The loco moco was packed with flavor & the chicken katsu was crispy and delicious! Not too much batter, it was perfect. The ube coconut waffles were the BEST! So soft and fluffy with the perfect amount of sweetness! The service was great, super friendly staff! The restaurant itself is kind of small & can get packed quickly. However from our POV the turn around time is pretty fast so you won't be waiting too long. They have some seating outside as well, but not much. Maybe like 3-4 tables? Parking is easy, there is a parking lot and lots of street parking available. We absolutely loved this place & even ordered take out via Postmates a few days later!1000/10

I've tried Aloha Stacks at another location before, but decided to give this one a try since it's conveniently located near my workout spot. One big plus right away was that they open as early as 6:30 AM, which is perfect for early birds or post-workout breakfast runs. There was a good amount of parking outside, and we were greeted with friendly service right when we walked in. Ambiance was clean & welcoming. My friend and I decided to try the Fitness Omelette ($15.50), which comes with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, turkey slices, and your choice of potatoes or pancakes. I went with the potatoes. Unfortunately, they had run out of the turkey slices and replaced them with turkey patties. The omelette itself was simple and decent, but nothing too exciting. I'd give it about a 7/10. The potatoes were okay, but they came out more room temperature than hot and weren't crispy like I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry ($14), and I have to say it was better than I expected. The katsu was crunchy, not overly thin like some places make it, and the curry was a nice addition. I'd give that dish about a 7.8/10. The main reason I knocked off two stars was due to a little confusion with a to-go order. I ordered a breakfast egg breakfast burrito to take home for my husband. The photo on the menu and online's picture shows it is served with chips and refried beans, but when I received the order, those sides weren't included. When I asked about it, the staff kindly explained that to-go orders do NOT come with the beans and chips, only dine-in orders do. They were very nice and even offered to box the sides for me, which I appreciated, but I did mention that it would probably help customers if that detail was listed on the menu. When something is pictured with sides, most people naturally assume that's what they'll receive. A small note on the menu could save everyone the extra explanation. As for the breakfast burrito ($11) itself, I added bacon for my husband. Unfortunately, it didn't really wow me. I'd give it about a 5/10. For the price, it just wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. Overall, the service was very friendly and it's definitely a convenient early morning breakfast option. The chicken katsu curry was probably the highlight for us. I'm not sure if it'll become a regular spot for me, but I might give it another try sometime in the future. Happy Eats & dine-in for your breakfast burrito if you want that refried beans & chips!

RIP Richie's Wichs, I will always hold a fond place in my heart for you. Aloha Stacks is in the location of this previous business. Plaza can get busy since there's a card shop (I believe) and other businesses in the plaza. We came here for a weekday brunch and got street parking easily. There was maybe 2 other parties in there with us and some pick up orders. Service was friendly and answered our questions. You order at the front, and they bring your food to you. You grab your number and they bring the food to you. Ambiance is super casual. Some neat island themed artwork on the wall. We got the: 1) Loco Moco: -One of my most favorite dishes. Choice of protein and I got the Portuguese sausage (not too salty and perfect char on the side), and got my eggs over easy. -Huge portion, flavorful gravy that also isn't too salty. Very hearty dish, add some Sriracha to it to get a kick. Would definitely get this again with another protein to try. 2) Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict: -Friend got this and after I had horrible food poisoning from a different eggs benedict elsewhere, I didn't really touch this dish except to have some of the yummy home fried potatoes. Nice slight crisp and super fluffy. She enjoyed her dish though. 3) Island Chilaquiles: -Carbs on carbs on delightful carbs. Comes with 2 eggs, tortilla chips with chipotle ranchero, sour cream, kalua pork, steamed rice, refried beans and queso fresco. -Very hearty and each bite was a different blend of flavors and textures, slight crunch of the chips, creaminess of the sour cream, kick from the chipotle, umami taste of the moist kalua pork. You get it. -Huge plate and a lot of it had to be taken home, but even after it was soggy and left in the car for a day, my brother enjoyed it. Super huge portions and enough to take home as leftovers for my younger brother to enjoy, which he did! I've been to the other locations and this is a solid one with delicious Hawaiian breakfast dishes. Would come back again.

Came here in the morning because I was in the mood for pancakes and saw that they had a banana macadamia nut pancake. The pancakes did not disappoint, easily one of the best things there. Sweet, strong banana flavor with some crunch from the nuts. It was great! The workers here are friendly and tentative asking how the food was and brought whatever extra things you needed promptly. It's a smaller restaurant but it does give cozy family style vibes. Losing a star because the other plate I ordered which was the ribeye chilaquiles. The ribeye was tough and everything else on the dish was somewhat bland with the fried tortilla pieces being the saving grace.

If breakfast is the most important meal of the day, then Aloha Stacks might be the right place to meet your breakfast needs. Taylor at the register was upbeat and friendly this Sunday morning as we perused the extensive menu options. We decided on the Loco Moco with Portuguese sausage, the Chicken Karaage with eggs, and the Mac Nut Banana pancakes as an upgrade, along with an Ube Latte and POG juice (Pineapple Orange and Guava). I adored the gravy though my husband thought it was just "good". We both could not believe how phenomenal the Karaage was! It was the lightest, crispiest fry with plentiful chicken and flavorful enough to not need the spicy mayo! It's a definite try and this place should be on the list of breakfast options in the area.

Went to Aloha Stacks and got the chicken katsu with waffles. Overall, I thought it was okay, mainly because of the katsu. It was a little dry and lacked flavor, but the waffle itself was good, and the combo with some syrup and honey definitely made it better. They seem to have a lot of popular dishes like their ube pancakes, lattes, and other brunch items, so there's definitely more I want to try. Service was very friendly and fast, and there's plenty of seating. The ambience was nice too! It had a comforting, family restaurant vibe. Overall, a solid brunch spot and I'd definitely come back to try their other dishes!

Dined in for brunch on 1/23/26 at 10:40 am. Parking: Small lot but I was able to find a spot. It wasn't busy. Service: You order at the counter and they give you a number. Water is self service. Ambiance: The place is like a diner style with a Hawaiian feel to it. Food and Drink 1. Loco Moco with chicken Katsu: 4/5. The katsu tasted crispy and mixed well with the loco moco. The rice was nice and fluffy and it paired well with the egg, over easy. I enjoyed this and it wasn't too salty. 2. Ube Pancakes: 4/5. Ube pancakes were delicious and not too overwhelming like normal pancakes. No complaints here except for I wish the ube was a little more stronger in flavor. 3. Ube coffee: 3/5. Even though, I mixed it, the flavors weren't there. Ube was too mild. Not strong enough to mix with the coffee. Overall, I like the place and would come back again!

3.5 stars Originally discovered Aloha Stacks in Whittier and bookmarked it, then realized they have multiple locations! Stopped by for lunch around 12:30pm on a Tuesday. Restaurant is a fast-casual setup where you order at the counter, take a number, and find your own seat. Hamburger Loco Moco ($15): A bed of rice topped with a hamburger patty, two eggs, and gravy. The portion was decent, but this dish missed the mark for me. The patty was a bit dry and the gravy leaned too salty. Not something I'd order again. Ube Coconut Pancakes ($13): Total opposite experience here - these were absolutely divine! Two fluffy ube pancakes topped with rich ube sauce and shredded coconut. I'd honestly come back just for these. The restaurant is located in a small strip mall with limited parking which fills up quickly during peak hours.

Both looked so cute and tasted good but I preferred their cafe latte. My aunt ordered their American Breakfast and I ordered their Good Morning Omelette (basically build your own omelette). Their dishes were really good, especially their home fries. My aunts eggs and bacon came out perfect. My omelette tasted really fresh with lots of fresh veggies, like spinach, mushrooms, and ham. The only hiccup that we had was that the food took almost an hour to come out. I think they had an issue with the ticket, and didn't get put in so it came out way later. Their signature jiggly texture was complemented by an airy, pillowy, melt-in-your-mouth interior that almost resembled a cloud. A crisp layer of caramelized sugar on top provided the signature crème brûlée experience, cracking satisfyingly with each bite before giving way to the soft pancakes beneath. Rich yet not overly sweet, the silky custard sauce added a luscious creaminess that complemented the subtle eggy flavor of the soufflé pancakes perfectly.
