    Loco moco
    Kiyomi F.

2nd time dining in & still as happy as the first time we came! This place is just SO good! Their katsu loco moco & ube pancake is now our family favorite! The staff here is always so friendly & helpful. The small amount of tables can cause an issue depending on what time you come, but we were lucky enough to beat the crowd and got a table outside right away. Will say the kids "chicken strips" is just a chicken katsu cutlet lol not really "chicken strips" but still good nonetheless! We will continue to come back for sure

Wife and I went here on a Sunday, at about noon. The crowds were not too bad, about 6 parties deep. This place is a small place that you order and when done ordering, you sit at a table and wait to be served your meal. It's a casual place. Looking at the menu, I decided to get the loco moco with portugese sausage. I am not a fan of loco moco, but heard it was really good here so ordered it but wanted Portuguese sausage since that's one of my favorite Hawaiian items It was finally our turn to order and my wife got the soft shell crab benedict. I ordered the loco moco with portugese sausage, only to find out that they did not have any portugese sausage! Menu was vast enough I didn't want to keep the line so decided to get the traditional loco moco with a hamburger patty. After our order, we sat down and waited for your food to arrive. As I was doing this, I noticed that a lot of people orderer the loco moco, but with katsu. I think I am gonna try that next time, or possibly with Spam. Anyway, our food came! Loco Moco - I can't say much about this since I am usually not a fan of loco moco so I am gonna just say it's good. A lot of people ordered it so it must be. Soft Shell Crab Benedict - My wife really did enjoy this. This looked too creamy and rich for my taste so I didn't try it. But she said that was the take away of the visit and will order that again the next time we come. My meal wasn't ideal but my wife's was. She really liked the benedict. We will be coming back, hoping that they will have portugese sausage on our next visit.

When you come in, you are greeted right away. The people, service, inside of restaurant, setup, everything, is good. The food is delicious!!! Ordered a chicken cutlet curry and a breakfast scramble with sourdough, everything was great! Definitely will be a returning customer.

Was in the mood for some breakfast food so decided to hit up aloha stacks! Quaint little spot in El Monte/temple city in the same plaza as cha cafe. I called ahead to order since it was about 45 minutes to closing (hate to be that guy lol). I got the kalua pork omelette. The pork was tender and flavorful and the eggs were very cheesy. I had the option of the home fried potatoes and pancakes, I of course opted for the potatoes! Potatoes were crispy and soft on the inside just how I like them! The wife got the Loco Moco. I honestly wasn't too crazy about it. Wished they put more gravy and the beef was kinda dry. Nonetheless I would come back and try other items on the menu.

    Welcome to Aloha Stacks.

Aloha Stacks is a popular Hawaiian-style breakfast and brunch spot known for its large pancakes and spam masubi. It's a family-owned chain located in a tiny plaza at 10300 Lower Azusa Rd in El Monte. We came very early morning to grab some breakfast. Customers will need to order on the counter before seating down. Dinning area is neat, spacious with a relaxing atmosphere. We ordered drip coffee, OJ, Avocado omelette and Blueberry Pancakes. Coffee was mediocre in taste except for the fresh juice. Foods were great and tasty. Service was spot on. Staff were assiduous and professional. Prices are competitive. Parking was easy. Overall, I enjoyed an early breakfast.

Chicken katsu, Chimichurri steak with 2 eggs and 2 banana macadamia nut pancakes

I've never had mac nut pancakes before and was dreaming for months about trying them. When I had my first bite, that exceeded all my expectations!! Already planning my next visit :) Clean interior, quick service, order and pay up front and choose your own seats! TIP: ADD $4 FOR A SIDE OF BANANA MAC NUT PANCAKES TO YOUR CHIMICHURRI STEAK Chimichurri steak with 2 fried eggs and 2 banana macadamia nut pancakes: 5/5. I'm always conflicted between sweet or savory for breakfast, but this solves all my problems. The banana mac nut pancakes were perfect - so fluffy, not too sweet, so many bits of macadamia. Chimichurri steak was yummy, but I'll try ordering it medium rare next time if they allow me to. All this for $24 is such a steal. Chicken katsu with rice and mac salad: 5/5. Bouncy, snappy pieces of chicken that are not dry at all. Seasoned so well!

Ube coconut pancake....this is the bomb!!!

After playing pickleball closeby, we were hungry and chose this place to try. We got there early enough that there were a few tables that were empty. We ended up getting Pork Kalua Omelette with house fried potatoes, Oxtail Loco Moco, Ribeye loco moco and ube coconut pancake to share. My girlfriends who had both loco mocos said it was good but the gravy was salty. My omelette was good though I felt like there wasnt that much flavor. The tapatio added some flavor but it wasnt enough. The ube coconut pancake....now that is really good! I can eat just that and be satisfied. I liked that better than my food. The service was great. Prices were reasonable. I will be back again for sure.

    Chicken Katsu lunch

I finally made it for lunch one day after reading reviews about this cozy cafe. Aloha Stacks is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch (6:30AM-2PM). I had an enjoyable experience and meal. The food was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. and authentic. I placed my order at the counter and waited for my food to be ready. I had the Chicken Katsu, the sides available were Macaroni salad and Steamed rice. This meal is fit for a King (or Queen), with two scoops of rice and a extra large Chicken Breast. The chicken was moist and tender with a nice crisp crust. There was enough food for two meals at one reasonable price. The restaurant was very clean, the decor was cute, with bamboo trim on the sage green palm wallpaper. The music also set the scene for memories of the Hawaiian Islands. I can say I had a mini Hawaiian getaway here in California. The customer service was top-notch and worth a drive to El Monte for your favorite dishes: - Macadamia Nut Banana Pancakes, Kalua Pork Omelet, Loco Moco, Spam Musubi and more. Sincerely, Rosemary

I've been here twice. Both times were good. The first time wasn't super memorable. Like I remember it was decent but nothing mind blowing. I came here again recently and it was fairly busy for a Wednesday morning but I was still able to get a seat. Tried the POG and it tasted fresh but still just ok. Didn't bring me back to the islands per se. But I appreciate the effort. I got the chicken katsu loco moco. I was leaning towards the spam loco moco cause I didn't really want something fried but it was the same price so I figured the katsu was a better deal cause it's more skill. It was such a large plate. Like easily two people could share it and maybe a third. The gravy was solid. The chicken wasn't dry and was good. Spam musubi was good but I wish it was fully wrapped cause my rice broke off towards the end. I got a guava toffee French toast to go for my daughter and she said it was good but it literally just tasted like cooked bread which I guess is what French toast is but I guess when it's done right it's transformed more. This wasn't the case. She also could barely taste the guava. All in all I'd come again if someone else wanted to try it but it's not something I'll be craving or coming to when I miss the islands.

Back for those Ube pancakes! Did not disappoint! More delicious than I ever imagined! No syrup or butter needed, eat it as is! I'm glad they serve this as a short stack otherwise I would have been in a food coma because we also got the sirloin loco moco and some kind of Ube coffee drink. Loco moco is always my daughter's go to dish. This time they had a sirloin steak topping! Service is always top notch! There is a parking lot! Which is a plus!

This cafe is located in a small plaza with limited parking so parking can be challenging I ordered takeout and got the Loco Moco ($15). It comes with two eggs on top so I got them over easy. It also came with my choice of m at and I chose chicken katsu. The eggs were decent and nothing special. However, the chicken katsu was very dry and not crispy at all. The brown gravy was very salty and overwhelming. The rice was probably the best part since it was soft and fluffy. The Ube Coconut Pancakes ($15) were good. I was impressed by how big the pancakes were! It had lots of shredded coconut so I definitely had coconut in every bite! The texture of the pancake was a bit chewy and soft. The Ube lacked flavor so I couldn't really taste ube at all unfortunately. It came with Ube sauce but even that didn't taste like ube and just purple food coloring. Overall, I was not impressed with the food even though the portions were very generous.

Soft shell crab Benedict. Lovely bolognese sauce, and English muffins with home fries to sop up all the goodness.

Aloha!! just when you thought no one understands the loco moco or your beloved spam musubi is nowhere to be found - we stumbled across our new home. You want soft shell eggs Benedict you fancy peach? They got you! This - super clean and happy - no-frills style spot will surprise you with the onolicious grinds of your dreams! Legit, choke local Hawiian favors and plenty aloha! We love Aloha Stacks!! Mahalo Nui.

I've tried Aloha Stacks at another location before, but decided to give this one a try since it's conveniently located near my workout spot. One big plus right away was that they open as early as 6:30 AM, which is perfect for early birds or post-workout breakfast runs. There was a good amount of parking outside, and we were greeted with friendly service right when we walked in. Ambiance was clean & welcoming. My friend and I decided to try the Fitness Omelette ($15.50), which comes with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, turkey slices, and your choice of potatoes or pancakes. I went with the potatoes. Unfortunately, they had run out of the turkey slices and replaced them with turkey patties. The omelette itself was simple and decent, but nothing too exciting. I'd give it about a 7/10. The potatoes were okay, but they came out more room temperature than hot and weren't crispy like I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry ($14), and I have to say it was better than I expected. The katsu was crunchy, not overly thin like some places make it, and the curry was a nice addition. I'd give that dish about a 7.8/10. The main reason I knocked off two stars was due to a little confusion with a to-go order. I ordered a breakfast egg breakfast burrito to take home for my husband. The photo on the menu and online's picture shows it is served with chips and refried beans, but when I received the order, those sides weren't included. When I asked about it, the staff kindly explained that to-go orders do NOT come with the beans and chips, only dine-in orders do. They were very nice and even offered to box the sides for me, which I appreciated, but I did mention that it would probably help customers if that detail was listed on the menu. When something is pictured with sides, most people naturally assume that's what they'll receive. A small note on the menu could save everyone the extra explanation. As for the breakfast burrito ($11) itself, I added bacon for my husband. Unfortunately, it didn't really wow me. I'd give it about a 5/10. For the price, it just wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. Overall, the service was very friendly and it's definitely a convenient early morning breakfast option. The chicken katsu curry was probably the highlight for us. I'm not sure if it'll become a regular spot for me, but I might give it another try sometime in the future. Happy Eats & dine-in for your breakfast burrito if you want that refried beans & chips!

I ordered the Peach pancakes (summer seasonal) this time, and I'm not even a big peach eater, but these had a great refreshing taste for the hot AF summer. I also ordered the peach lime tea and added clear boba, less sweet. The drink went perfectly because it had fresh lime and it's pleasant to pair sweets with savory & sour. Some friends and I came on a Sunday afternoon and waited about an hour to be seated, mostly because we were a table of 12. If you're a smaller party, you'll probably get seated much faster. This place was packed, so you can definitely tell they're popular. There's both indoor and outdoor seating, but with a group our size, we were happy with wherever had a table open first. And of course, you get to watch the little planes take off and land while you eat, which makes the whole experience pretty unique. If you're into aviation, this is definitely a fun spot. Now, let's talk about the food. We ordered quite a bit, but the things that stood out most were the nachos, Annia's Omelette ($20), and the Club Sandwich ($16). We split the nachos amongst 12 people and, needless to say, they were devoured pretty quickly. Another plate of chips would have been perfect because we ended up with plenty of leftover meat, guac, and salsa but nothing left to scoop it with. A minor nacho tragedy. The omelette came with your choice of potatoes, and we got the hash browns along with a small stack of pancakes. The hash browns were crunchy on top and soft inside, perfect with a slab of ketchup. The pancakes were on the thicker, fluffy side, so naturally I drowned them in syrup and immediately felt a little guilty about it. The club was also really good. Crispy bacon, lunch meat, lettuce, and all the essentials. The string fries that came with it were freshly fried and nice and crispy. Everything was a pretty generous portion, and we left very full but with absolutely no regrets. Great food, generous portions, and planes flying overhead. What more could you ask for?

It was lacking spicy and was very tomato sauce forward. The meat was definitely tender and cooked to perfection. The beans were creamy but a little under seasoned. The potatoes is what lacked true flavor. They tasted like boiled red potatoes with no spice, no salt, no pepper, and there was barely any cheese on top of them. Over all it was a fair dish but it didn't scream out super amazing. Given the popularity of this place, I will be back to try it again.
