I finally made it for lunch one day after reading reviews about this cozy cafe. Aloha Stacks is open 7 days a week for breakfast and lunch (6:30AM-2PM). I had an enjoyable experience and meal. The food was D.E.L.I.C.I.O.U.S. and authentic. I placed my order at the counter and waited for my food to be ready. I had the Chicken Katsu, the sides available were Macaroni salad and Steamed rice. This meal is fit for a King (or Queen), with two scoops of rice and a extra large Chicken Breast. The chicken was moist and tender with a nice crisp crust. There was enough food for two meals at one reasonable price. The restaurant was very clean, the decor was cute, with bamboo trim on the sage green palm wallpaper. I've been here twice. Both times were good. The first time wasn't super memorable. Like I remember it was decent but nothing mind blowing. I came here again recently and it was fairly busy for a Wednesday morning but I was still able to get a seat. Tried the POG and it tasted fresh but still just ok. Didn't bring me back to the islands per se. But I appreciate the effort. I got the chicken katsu loco moco. I was leaning towards the spam loco moco cause I didn't really want something fried but it was the same price so I figured the katsu was a better deal cause it's more skill. One big plus right away was that they open as early as 6:30 AM, which is perfect for early birds or post-workout breakfast runs. My friend and I decided to try the Fitness Omelette ($15.50), which comes with egg whites, mushrooms, spinach, turkey slices, and your choice of potatoes or pancakes. I went with the potatoes. Unfortunately, they had run out of the turkey slices and replaced them with turkey patties. The omelette itself was simple and decent, but nothing too exciting. I'd give it about a 7/10. The potatoes were okay, but they came out more room temperature than hot and weren't crispy like I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry ($14), and I have to say it was better than I expected. The katsu was crunchy, not overly thin like some places make it, and the curry was a nice addition. I'd give that dish about a 7.8/10. The main reason I knocked off two stars was due to a little confusion with a to-go order. I ordered a breakfast egg breakfast burrito to take home for my husband. The photo on the menu and online's picture shows it is served with chips and refried beans, but when I received the order, those sides weren't included. When I asked about it, the staff kindly explained that to-go orders do NOT come with the beans and chips, only dine-in orders do. They were very nice and even offered to box the sides for me, which I appreciated, but I did mention that it would probably help customers if that detail was listed on the menu. When something is pictured with sides, most people naturally assume that's what they'll receive. A small note on the menu could save everyone the extra explanation. As for the breakfast burrito ($11) itself, I added bacon for my husband. Unfortunately, it didn't really wow me. I'd give it about a 5/10. For the price, it just wasn't as satisfying as I hoped. You grab your number and they bring the food to you. Ambiance is super casual. Some neat island themed artwork on the wall. We got the: 1) Loco Moco: -One of my most favorite dishes. Choice of protein and I got the Portuguese sausage (not too salty and perfect char on the side), and got my eggs over easy. -Huge portion, flavorful gravy that also isn't too salty. Very hearty dish, add some Sriracha to it to get a kick. Would definitely get this again with another protein to try. 2) Kalua Pork Eggs Benedict: -Friend got this and after I had horrible food poisoning from a different eggs benedict elsewhere, I didn't really touch this dish except to have some of the yummy home fried potatoes. Another issue was temperature--none of the food came out hot. Everything leaned more toward lukewarm, like it had been sitting in the back for a while. The eggs especially felt like they lost their freshness by the time they reached the table. Service and operations also seemed off. It honestly felt like they might've been short-staffed. Tables weren't being cleared in a timely manner, which led to people waiting around for seating even after others had already finished and left. That's something that definitely needs attention. Cripsy on the outside and soft on the inside. In general Aloha Stacks is a bit pricey. But I think it comes with the terratory of going to a brunch place. For example 1 spam masubi is $4. At 626 hawaiian bbq & boba it's 2 for $5. I'd expect to pay about $20 for an adult meal. Aloha Stacks is very clean. Staff are friendly. The tables are kinda close together. Very casual experience. They have cups on the side where you can grab your own water from a water dispenser. The biggest downside is that most people are in the mood for brunch on the weekend mornings. The place is small with about 8 tables inside and 2 tables outside. The decor is refreshing with surf style wall art. I ordered the classic hamburger patty Loco Moco. I thought it was just OK. The party was just your standard hamburger patty, not a homemade one. I think the gravy to rice ratio was off, it needed a lot more gravy. We did ask the server to more gravy and she brought us a cup, so no worries. I also got a coffee and next time I would skip that. It wasn't the worst coffee, but it wasn't the best. While I understand training is part of the process, there should be better support in place to ensure guests still have a smooth experience. We stopped by here for breakfast during the week as we heard from friends the food was wonderful but there was a long line. The small parking lot and small restaurant were full and we had to squeeze in the door. The tables were small, and the sign in the window said 30 people max. It was hot, humid. Our family will no longer be supporting this business. The lady manager made an extremely poor decision that has affected our experience. Our food was delivered in a NON SEALED bag. Our loco moco plate was tampered with and a portion was eaten. Doordash decided to not give me a refund. Ok, that's not an issue. I really just wanted a replacement. I called Aloha Stacks to explain the situation. They denied me a refund. Again, I just wanted a replacement. I offered to pick it up. The lady said NO. She said a replacement is the same as a refund and it's not. With the price you're charging for one plate, the profit can offset the replacement. I have been a long time customer and I'm sure I would've came back again and again to support, but not anymore. Great way to treat the customer. Its 2026, anything being shipped or transported by a 3rd party should be sealed and tamper proof. Are you really going to rely on drivers to NOT tamper with the food? Before we headed to USC Acradia Hospital, my wife and I headed to Aloha Stacks in El Monte to get some breakfast. We have been to Aloha Stacks restaurant in Cerritos. The food was really good, but now we're in El Monte. Try this, Aloha Stacks. This place is small but you have ordered your food first then you then find your table this place get packed but limited seats also could eat out there's tables. We are looking at the display menu and thinking about what to order. My wife ordered her favorite dish, which is the Loco Moco. She loves it very much and never gets tired of it. I decided to order the Ube coconut pancake combo it comes with egg and choice of meats. I chose bacon, but I regret not getting the Portuguese sausage one of my favorite items. They give us a number, then find a table, then they bring the food to the table. First, they brought the Ube coconut pancake and eggs and bacon plate. I took a bite of the Ube coconut pancake it was really I really taste a little bit of the flavor of Ube, but one in Cerritos, I really can taste the full flavor of the Ube. The eggs were scramble the way I liked, and the bacon was very crispy. I really enjoyed my meal. My wife, her Loco Moco meal she have try all kinds of Loco Moco from others Hawaiian restaurants and including restaurants in Hawaii. She knows how a Loco Moco tastes. Came by because of all the nice yelp review. Parking lot was small, but street parking is also available. There is a line when we got here. We get in line to order the food, and a server will help us look for a table if we would like to dine in. We were seated soon after we ordered the food. We ordered Chorizo scramble, guava toffee french toast, mac nut pancake, and ube latte. The chorizo scramble was sad and disappointed. It was dry and tasteless. The French toast is decent: however, the pancake is dry and doughie. The coffee is probably the best in this meal. I was a bit disappointed about this brunch because of the high expectation I had. Great little type of restaurant in the SGV. It's a good option other than the traditional SGV breakfast of Chinese, American, or Hispanic breakfast. I highly recommend the Hawaiian iced coffee. It's not too sweet and has that macadamian nut flavor. Second item I would recommend is the crunch French toast. It's extremely tasty with the sweet and crunch and the toasty nut flavors. What I would not order again would be the beef patty loco moco. The frozen hamburger patty was thin and extremely dry along with the super thick gravy. I've had way better loco moco throughout LA. I would come back, but keep in mind seating is extremely limited so if you're coming with a big group I wouldn't recommend coming here. Groups of 4 and under would be ideal. The food was just delicious as I had expected. We used to travel to OC just to get our Hawaiian Aloha Stacks fix but now that this location is here. I will definitely be a frequent foodie!! The service was so wonderful, everyone was so smiley and attentive from the moment we walked into the door. Its definitely a smaller location in comparison to the others but it was still amazing! I got the omurice omelet which was filled with fried rice and Portuguese sausage. And gravy on top, my only gripe -- I wished for my gravy!!
